It wasn’t until they were deep in the willows that surrounded Club Bennett that Kai finally broke, unable to hold his child-like excitement in any more. He could see the tell-tale slabs of ancient stone peeking up through the greenery, and an unnerving smile cracked his face wide open. “Guess what, Josiekins? Your favourite creepy uncle got you a present...” He chimed, relishing throwing the word in her face ever since she’d first made the mistake of saying it to him. “I’ll give you a hint. It’s not the Malibu Stacy Dream House. That one will have to wait for Christmas.”

Between both of their long legs and strong lungs (what could he say? if you could get over all the socially ingrained magical filicide, the parkers actually had pretty great genetics), they reached the spot barely a minute later. 

He’d first found this little gem on one of his mind-numbingly boring days of pseudo-captivity, circling the property’s perimeter in an attempt to retain whatever sanity he had left. From up close, it was clearly not a pair of oddly placed stone walls, but the entry point to a set of stairs older than half of New Orleans. Below them lay a modest, cave-like room. It was a primitive fallout shelter, he assumed, or maybe the cellar to a cabin that time had long since claimed, but he saw it as opportunity. As far as he knew, Bonnie had no idea this place existed, and that meant it could be whatever he wanted it to be. After a few minor adjustments (a couple of battery-powered construction lamps here, a padlocked, reinforced door there), it was simply perfect.

He leaned against one of the projections and mimed picking up an intercom and holding it in front of his face. Grin still plastered to his lips, he gestured down the stairwell.

     “Tsssschk...                    Pregnant women and mouthy teenage siphoners are now cleared                    to enter the ominous cellar. Please keep your greedy little fingers                    inside the vehicle and mind the overhead for rabid bats.                                                                                            ...Thank you for choosing Air Gemini!”
