Can we talk about how the only time in the film where Caracalla seems like he has his shit together in a mostly lucid, mostly emperor type way is here?

"Crown him with laurels, brother"

His voice is calm, he knows what's going on, he knows the procedure of a returning general. We don't hear him use that tone of voice again.

He also has the same dead eyed/stoic expression here as when Geta yells at him and throws his drink:

Now, the last two and arguably even when Geta is yelling at him can be put down to a trauma response. We know they had a shitty, abusive childhood. He clearly detaches when he's upset.

So I guess I'm just wondering, what, if anything, happened before Acacius returned in order for Carcalla to look and sound like that? Mostly I'm interested in his tone of voice. The closest we get to that same measured tone is at Thraex's party (though he seems drunk there) and then later when he says that the party was a blur. The tone he uses when we first see him is so out of sorts with the rest of his character throughout the rest of the film.

Something about Geta I literally can’t stop thinking & talking about (spoiler under cut)

His final act was trying to help his brother.

Begging Caracalla to “come back” & “break this spell” & telling him he loved him & then asking Macrinus for help with Caracalla & not even spare him or save his life but to help his brother.

Also the look on both of their faces when Geta’s throat is cut the first initial time… (the light hitting Fred’s eye is fucking BEAUTIFUL cinematography)

Can you imagine how haunted the both of them must have been in the aftermath? Geta seeing that last look of possessed jealous hatred & Caracalla seeing that last look of fear & then watching his brother die & be beheaded?

GET. THE. FUCK. OUT. OF. HERE.

Had it just been Caracalla & Geta in that scene, I think he could’ve brought him back to reality & lived. I’m sure this wasn’t the first time he tried to kill or do something to Geta in a psychotic break, I don’t think he would’ve killed him. I mean (to me) he didn’t anyway. It was fucking MACRINUS. FUCK THAT GUY.
