Vatican Miracle Examiner
(バチカン奇跡調査官 ; Bachikan Kiseki Chousakan)
I would really love to read the novels, but my Japanese isn’t quite there yet, sadly.
Although I still have a lot of work ahead with 宝石商リチャード氏の謎鑑定 (The Case Files of Jeweler Richard), I love Robert and Joseph so much I really want to give the manga a try.
(Even if I suspect —from my quick glance of the preview— that it’ll be a lot more challenging.)
Since no one to my knowledge has fan translated the manga to English, and I don’t see these being picked up by an official publisher for localization any time soon...

I can’t stop staring at how amazing this is
Wow, watching VKC was…an experience. But THORES is an amazing character designer, and Renaissance/Catholic aesthetics is…seriously my ultimate weakness. I thought it would be cool to try rendering Hiraga like a Renaissance drawing. Lately, I’ve been motivated to improve on different media and drawing outside my comfort zone. This piece is essentially a re-imagined Tenax Vitae by Rinaldo Carnielo, who is known for his macabre works. I thought it was way too appropriate. I’ll draw a matching Roberto pic once my schedule clears up sob

I know the show kinda bounces between how it wants to write and pronounce certain names. I’ve noticed a lot of inconsistency with names like John, Johan, and Jean, and Peter and Petro too. But this one’s really bugging me.
When Hiraga was first introduced his name was spelled ‘Joseph’
It’s even spelled ‘Joseph’ in the into.
Yet throughout the rest of the show, he’s called Josef instead. On the official website and the wiki, it’s Josef too, and online there seems to be a consensus to spell it Josef as well. ‘Ko and ‘Kou’ also vary throughout.
This wouldn’t be so frustrating if the show didn’t have another character by the exact same name: Roberto’s teenage friend, Joseph. A lot of people switch between the two spellings: Josef and Joseph for both characters or just calling both or the Josef. Because of this inconsistent error in translation. But to save myself a lot of confusion I just spell Hiraga as the ‘Josef’ version, and Roberto’s school friend as ‘Joseph’ because there really needs to be more of a distinction.
