Hate for days

Four race weekends later and the hate for the female was ramping up for no reason. It was becoming unsettling for everyone, the drivers, the team and everyone involved. Yes her fanbase was also getting bigger but they were being overshadowed by the haters and they weren’t big enough yet. This week is the Austrian Grand Prix, maybe it was orchestrated but it was one hell of a week. The female has been doing great in all these races, being in the top 10 all the time, even snagging a Pole position in Canada at P3. all this seemed to make the people hate her more if that was even possible, how can this woman do better than Sebastian Vettle they said, he’s a four time world champion, the name calls, the speculations, everything made them tick. Every week Cecilia is racing; she's doing things no female has done before in Formula 1, even if she left today she’d be remembered in the sport, they had the audacity to say it’s because she’d a nepo baby, when half the grid were nepo babies themselves, children of past drivers. 

The one day the female dreaded in her race week is the Media day, she didn't mind the videos she made for Mclaren with Lando, the two becoming closer as the year went on. Decked in Mclaren’s kit once again, she made her way to the entrance. And some asshole just had the audacity to throw something at her, she was standing signing a cap one of her fans was holding when she felt it hit her. She gasped in shock and pain and was in an instant led inside by the security walking with her, she couldn’t even turn around and look before she was whisked inside. She did hear shouting and some type of ruckus behind her, her German wasn’t great but she heard a lot of cursing. She doesn’t even know what was thrown at her, but she felt liquid running down the side of her face, pulling back her hand she saw it red, it wasn’t blood it was some sort of paint or something. The security hadn’t let her stop until she was in Mclaren’s motorhome, Sedil was talking to Toto Wolff of all people when his driver came in with her blonde hair and part of her face red for a split second it did look like blood, bu it was much brighter, around her people were panicking.

“I’m fine, I’m fine.” The female was repeating over and over again to no avail, no one was listening to her it seemed.

“What happened?” Sedil asked his(favourite) driver. 

“An asshole threw what I’m guessing is a balloon filled with paint or something at me, but I’m fine.” Pressing the last part as she said looking at her PR manager. 

“That’s not okay.” Toto was the one to say, he’s never seen or heard of a driver getting something thrown at them like this before, they weren't at a play for goodness sake, he hoped Mclaren would handle this and take care of their drivers more. 

“No it’s not, but there's nothing I can do about it now.” The female said, shrugging, all in the love of the sport. “I’m just going to shower and get ready for the day, again.”

Walking off with her head held high, she wasn’t going to slip or crumble even if all she wanted was to do that, she hadn’t left her daughter and family for her to do that. They’ll hold nothing on her, no way. Nothing is getting in her way.

“That’s a special one you got there.” Toto said watching as the female left with people still fretting over her. 

“Yes we do, I’m just afraid it’ll only get worse.” Sedil pushed up his glasses while watching the strong woman on his team. 

“Just make her come in the back door.” 

“That’s not what I'm talking about.”

Later in the day after Cecilia showered(and tried not to break down in the shower), changed into fresh clothes, redid her makeup with the help of the female workers in the team’s makeup, she looked fresh as new. The news already spread and pictures were already floating online, Cecilia talked to her dad and reassured him she's okay and told him to keep it from her daughter. 

Lando was waiting for her in front of her door. “I’m fine.” She said before he could open his mouth. As they walked out together for the small little interviews they had to do together before they were split up, she was thankful no one asked about this morning, whether it was because Lando signalled to their friends not to or because they saw the look on her face she had no idea but she’s thankful nonetheless. 

The group interviews are what she hated the most, she was mostly ignored still but was asked a few questions every now and then. Today she was being interviewed with Lewis, Seb, Pierre and Kimi.

She smiled when she saw the lot, Pierre giving her a longer hug than normal, the female’s love language being physical touch didn’t hate it, Seb also pulled her for a hug. When they walked onto the platform, Cecilia sat in the middle with Seb and Lewis on one side and Pierre and Kimi on the other. For the first 10 minutes or so nothing unusual happened, she was asked a yes or no question and that was it.

“For the older group, since you’ve had the chance to race with Cecilia, what do you think about having a female in the sport?” the man asking, made the Mclaren driver roll her eyes a little, the way he said female it sounded like they were the lowest of the lowest, god’s most despised creation, acting as if his mother was anything but a female. 

“I think she’s a phenomenal driver, regardless of her gender she’s had an amazing start to her rookie season.” Lewis said, praising the girl, he didn’t like what happened today and what continues to happen in the sport, everytime he thinks the world is going in the right direction something like this happens. 

“Going over what Lewis said, I’ve watched her race for years, before she became an F1 driver, and I’ve even told Lewis about her before, racing with her is something I had hoped to do for a while now.” Sebastian said and Lewis nodded with his words, they both looked neutral on the outside fuming on the inside. 

“So her being a female doesn’t bother you?” Tilting her head a little at the question, she isn’t sure she heard him correctly, people seem to be getting bolder today. 

“Why?” Kimi was the one to answer, something he never does, he never answers for someone else. The iceman has a daughter of his own, he dreads the day she comes into a sport or a workplace that is a male dominated and having to go through this shit, he applauds Cecilia’s courage, and he hopes for once the sport can change and adapt. 

“S-sorry?” The man asking the question stuttered, he didn’t quite understand what kimi was asking.

“Why does it matter that she’s a female?” Both Seb and Lewis watched on as Kimi talked, they knew he 100% had this handled, getting Kimi to talk was a hard thing but when he did he had facts and truth only. 

“Just the physicality of the sport and the pressure of it…” 

“Have you seen any signs of her under performing?” Kimi asked, his eyes narrowing ever so slightly, Cecilia felt like she was in a tennis match watching as Kimi talked and the other man struggled to respond. She knew her grid mates, the drivers all had her back, but watching it in action is something else. When the man struggled to answer Kimi continued. “She hasn’t, so we can have this conversation when her gender comes into play.”

“Nicely said Kimi.” Seb grinned, happy with the outcome, Cecilia had to bite the tip of her tongue to stop herself from laughing at the scared look the man had on his face.

The questions moved on, people were more aware of their questions now, she and Kimi got little questions for the rest of the conference both unbothered by it. Pierre did bring up how she beat him a lot while they were young, reminiscing about their Karting days.

The next two days she was booed wherever she went, circuit walk, all of free practices, qualifying people were just booing her whenever they saw her, it kept amping up, first it was five people then ten then twenty then forty and so on and so forth.

By race day where she was starting P4 a whole section was booing her, Cecilia looked ahead not giving them any attention. Her team had her back and that’s all she wanted or needed.

She had a tough time for the race, she had to overtake Lewis, Valtteri and Seb for P1, and she planned to do it, she’ll prove everyone wrong and end this debate once and for all. Lap 15 she overtook Valtteri in the DRS zone 1, she was scared he’ll overtake her in Zone 2 but Max was also making a move so that made him the main focus not her, she was able to slip away and close in on the Ferrari ahead of her.

RE(race engineer) You’re now P3, keep the pace until we need to box for now. We suspect Ferrari to box soon as well

Trusting her team’s judgement, she waited until lap 30 where she’s been gaining on Seb before she started losing grip in the tires and had to box, a little earlier than they hoped but she had to box now or she’ll be overtaken. Seb boxed a few laps after her, and that gave her the edge and took his position and as much as she loved the man she wasn’t about to let him take P2 again.

Cecilia Someone tell Seb, I love him but I love view from here. RE *chuckle* will do

At the end of sector 2 beginning of 3 she tried to overtake Lewis at turn 8 but he left her no room; she had to stay back or hit the wall. She watched Lewis closely, she knows this man, she grew up watching him race, she analysed his techniques, surely they’ll help her overtake him. 

Lap 67 the race was slowly coming to an end, under 5 laps left the distance between her and Lewis grew at one point, before she scored the fastest lap and closed the distance in lap 68. Once again at the downhill part of the track she tried to overtake lewis in turn 5, 6, 7, and 8, only managing to overtake him in turn 9, she braked late and went on the inside, getting in the DRS zone she gave it her all and tried to just giver herself as much distance as she could.

RE That’s amazing, just focus on maintaining speed, Hamilton’s tires aren’t helping him. Cecilia He won’t box will he? RE No you’re in lap 69 Cecilia Oh… that’s good i guess

The last three laps had Cecilia feeling like she wasn’t in control of her body, she was focused on winning, she didn’t count the laps, didn't do anything, just asked about the time between her and Lewis and raced. Passing the chequered flag made her want to cry and laugh at the same time.

RE That’s P1 Cecilia P1! Well done! Cecilia OH MY GOD! I DID IT! Thank you, thank you so much. Oh my god, we did it everyone, amazing job. RE You just made history Cecilia

Finishing her cool down lap she drove to the number one stand and got out of the car and ran to Mclaren, the team held the crying girl, of course she had her helmet on, no one was able to see her face.

She went to get weighted, Lewis came up to her as she took off her helmet. The male opened his arms for a hug and she just let him. He patted her back, despite coming in 2nd to her he was beyond happy for her, she deserved it. Seb took Lewis’ place hugging Cecilia so tight before he slightly lifted her off the ground.

“Congratulations, Cece, you deserve it.” Was all Seb managed to say before he was whisked away for his interview. When it was her turn she had thankfully calmed down a little.

“Cecilia, amazing race, amazing performance, congratulations on your first win in Formula one.'' The female presenter had a huge smile on her face.

“Thank you so much.” Cecilia had a matching grin.

“Tell me, how do you feel right now?”

“It feels like a dream, I've dreamt and worked for this moment since my first go kart ride, so it feels a little unreal.” The female said and took out her braid from her suit, feeling it bother her slightly.

“One last question before you go, what do you want to say to everyone watching you right now?” Cecilia chuckled in true Cecilia fashion as she looked at the camera, her ice blue eyes dead as they looked emotionlessly at the camera lens.

“I want to thank those who booed me, you hate me, means you think about me, and because I was in your thoughts I was able to win.” With a tilt to her lips she smiled at the interviewer, thanked her and left. 

Walking into the cool down room, she took the number one hat and looked at it, her first one. Sitting between the two males they watched the screen replaying some parts of the race, they were talking about what happened during the race.

The screen showed the moment Cecilia overtook Lewis, Sebastian was seeing the chase for the first time, in a few seconds she was able to get pole position and pass the current world champion. 

“That was great Cecilia, very daring.” Sebastian complemented her, a moment she will forever hold, she felt beyond proud of herself.

Standing in the middle on the top part of the podium was such a surreal moment, definitely one she won’t ever forget. When the Monaco national anthem played Cecilia felt so proud she hoped her girl was watching her mummy win. Holding her trophy up she kissed it and held it high for photos, she did this, she won this award with her blood sweat and tears(and champagne). This moment is hers so fuck all the haters because she deserved this.

Cecilia opted out from her traditional analysis of the race and she went back to the hotel to shower and get ready for the party, all her friends and crew wanted to celebrate her first win. She doesn’t drink much anymore but for once she’d go have a few drinks and dance and let loose. She facetimed her family, her girl was full of shouts relaying what she saw in a comical way, seeing her through the screen she wanted to go home and hug and kiss her little girl. 

For once Cecilia was dressed and felt like herself, she knew there will be photos posted after this night, but she dressed in a dress, did her make-up how she liked and curled her hair. Making it to the club with Lando, they had room next to each other. Walking in they found their friends already there, Pierre and Alex already a couple drinks in. 

“Our winner!” Charles called seeing his female best friend, he threw his arms out and he pulled her in for a hug, they swayed for a moment. “Félicitations, Cece.” (congratulations)

“Thank you.” Pulling back she was pulled into multiple hugs before Pierre handed her a shot that she threw back, making them cheer. In no time everyone was hitting the dance floor, having the time of their lives. Just a group of twenty somethings having fun. 

Charles and Cecilia were dancing when Max made it, he saw the two dancing and laughing. See, times like this it looked like they were dating, but he knows that Charles is in a relationship, and rumours have it Cecilia is single, but you never know. 

“Maxy!” He didn’t need to look to know who was calling him, the female being the only one who dared keep calling him that to his face all the time, turning to look at her, she looked a little drunk, George handed her another drink as he passed and he watched her take big sips. 

“You’re drunk.” He was amused, he’s sure she’ll never remember this in the morning. 

“And you’re not drunk enough.” She said and tried to give him her drink to get him drunk, Max took it from her hand and took the chance to look at her from up close. She was sweaty but her make-up was intact, to him it looked different, he only ever saw her wearing make-up on media days, now he’s never seen her wear a dress in real life, since the beginning of the season she’d only ever been spotted wearing her team’s kit. Max placed her drink on the table, seeing how drunk everyone is, he made the split decision to try and cut her off, she was stumbling as she walked, and they all had flights out tomorrow afternoon. 

“I don’t get drunk easily.” Max told her, her eyes were unfocused, and she was blinking slowly, definitely tired.

“Bo-ho, a few years ago I would’ve been able to drink and not get drunk, not anymore.” She pouted, the last time she got drunk, or drank anything more than some wine with dinner was the day before she found out she’s pregnant. “Well, I’m gonna go dance.”

Before he could do anything she found Lando and pulled him to dance with her, he seemed more sober so he left them to it, mingling with his friends, he saw some RedBull crew who he talked with and sipped his glass of beer, did he keep Cecilia in his line of sight? Yes he did. Did he stop Pierre and Alex from giving her any more drinks? Yes he did. Did he tell Lando to take her back to the hotel? Yes he did. Also did he help him take her to the car waiting for them outside? Yes he did. Will she remember it? No she probably won’t.

The next day Cecilia woke up to the bright sun streaming through her window, she was on her side and a trash can next to her head. She was still dressed in her dress from last night. She groaned and pulled the cover over her head, she didn't want to wake up. Trying to fall back asleep wasn’t a success when her phone rang and she was informed that she had to leave in under an hour. Sitting up, her blonde hair was all over the place, she remembered almost nothing from the night before, she didn't want to get drunk, but here she is the next day remembering nothing.

“Fuck.”

Author's Note: This is my first F1 fic, which makes me nervous so why not start with a series.

Many Drive to Survive haters like to pretend everything that comes from the show and what it’s about are beneath them. That they couldn’t possibly care, and that the only important thing is the race on Sunday. And yet the day after the latest season drops you can find them amongst the chaos trying to figure out what the hell were all those hints about a new form of content that F1 plans to release. 

Interwoven with the usual storylines and mild dramatics there was a lot of talk about how drivers show their families the support they’re given. How they show up for them in their careers and bits of their lives. It was weird at first, but then it sent off alarm bells when an almost fourth wall breaking moment happened where the Netflix team was blatantly dismissed. 

“I think we have this one Netflix, but thanks for the help.” Those were the exact words spoken by the head of marketing as she closed the door to a room where you get a glimpse of team paraphernalia but see no faces. 

Every social platform that you can find an F1 fan on has it trending and the conversations (and screams into the void) are fast paced. But Twitter is where the real unhinged and brain cell losing behavior is happening. 

And the most accurate guessing.

Almost everyone within the community is discussing what that snippet could mean. Is it the end of DTS as they know it? The end of it completely? Are F1 and Netflix severing ties? Will F1 be taking over? Is this some little game they're playing with their viewers to keep them tuned in? Is it something completely different? What the actual fuck is going on?

In the middle of those questions are those who think themselves a genius or are delusional enough that they can’t help but form some wild ideas of what’s to come.

Someone must be retiring. Multiple people are retiring. There’s going to be a reality show ala Keeping Up with the Verstappens, where everyone learns that Max’s little trauma dumpy memories with Jos are just the surface level of how insane that man is. Someone is getting married. Someone is getting married to another driver. A nepo baby is going to become the “voice of the fandom” and host a show about the drivers during race weekends and it’s going to be all the wrong things. A dating show for all the singles. A behind the scenes at the lives of drivers and their families, but like Family Feud. And the penultimate dude bro dream of them getting to spend the season hanging out with drivers and get confirmation that their toxic thoughts that alienate most of the fan base is true.

After about twenty-four hours it all dies down. Everyone is still wondering, but they don’t feel like they’re losing their minds while they try to be the one who can say they were right when they news drops.

As if timed, the second that F1 drops in trends the F1 admin drops a graphic with the faces of six people who are clearly positioned like the thinking face emoji on every platform that they use. In the captions it says: Week in the Life - Sibling Edition.

If Twitter was home to the first wave of screaming, it belongs to Tumblr the second go round. Everyone is so excited for the content that someone must have thrown up from how aggressively happy they feel. Everyone is talking about who they want it to be and what content they’d love to see from which sibling. Those who make gifs are especially excited to get everything they can, though they won’t be outdone by those whose brains and fingers will be entities on their own once they get hold of a singular moment that will inspire the fic of everyone’s dreams.

Those who always have something negative to say are there as usual, but they aren’t as loud or upset as they often are. Being nosy doesn’t stop just because you want to pretend that you only care about the race, as if someone doesn’t have a file of screenshots from all the times, they’ve attacked the character of a driver for something not race related at all.

The reaction to this is the kind that instills faith in what is being done. The kind of thing that tells all the upper management who didn’t like it that it was a good idea, but also puts a certain bit of weight on the content team. They need this to deliver. Need to keep the hype, especially since the first episode doesn’t drop until the start of December and they’ve already recorded half the series so a failure could stop the rest.

So once the Singapore GP ends, Daniel Ricciardo’s face is no longer gray. You get to see that goofy smile and wink. You’d think they told everyone he was getting a permanent seat with a three year contract with the reception to it.

but also charles in 2018 was still very much. a bit of a hater.....like i know for the past couple of years they've been all smiles and like oh we have a good relationship! in the past it was tense :))) but we're all good now! but in 2018 charles was very much like. i can't say we have a good relationship but I'm Not Here To Make Friends .... and max was literally silent abt it....so from the perspective of an age gap it's very much charles trying to be like. how the fuck is my older self in a relationship with MAX VERSTAPPEN and also why's he so soft and goofy and genuine and charming oh......dear.....what if he fucked me so i can get back to my original timestream.......

but honestly for a proper age difference au i struggle to say. bcs so much of lestappen to me is their history so divorced from that i think their dynamic would be very different and like. i hesitate to say not as compelling.....like. i'm so sorry to quote jos verstappen but this quote about them during their karting days lives in my mind rent free

A PROPHECY................ like to me this is why age gap lestappen is honestly for me. purely about getting to write older max fucking sauber charles. because sauber charles was still like. not that charles is exactly a rippling muscle monster now but like. in 2018 he was a tad more twinky....and max is like. Bigger now. so for me it's about aesthetics literally just because of the fact that like. to me it's always about the History.

ALSO i can't remember who said it i think it was one of my mutuals so full credit to whichever big brained beauty said this. but they pointed out that like. when max started driving lewis and seb and kimi etc always described his driving as over the line but charles has ALWAYS described driving against max as 'on the limit' and like. they know each other well from their karting days and they know how to race each other.............god. much to think about

however i think a true age gap au would have max being irritated by charles treating him exactly how max used to treat older drivers and just being fucking crazy. because max might have the mad max rep but like. charles is not exactly the epitome of safe sane and consensual racing himself.....anybody remember monza 2023

having said all that. please go and read frechheit by @additiva . i find lestappen age gap SO unbelievably compelling in this fic like. it is absolutely delicious and i think will satisfy your need for age gap lestappen and like. still somehow draws in all the regular lestappen insanity....being soulmates and knowing exactly how to race each other even sort of divorced from their history and it is just Brilliant !!

According to this Max hater, Jos helped Max get his F1 seat 🤣 Jos?!? helped?!? Max get his F1 seat?!? 🤣 How exactly? Jos doesn't have enough capital to buy a seat, Jos does not own a team, has no relations with a certain team, is not famous enough, keep in mind he hasn't even won a race so who the f*ck cared about the name Verstappen before Max?!? Repeat after me:

Max got in F1 due to his talent!

Max was the most talked about young talent long before he made his debut in F1! Even so, a lot of team principals were doubtful about Helmut's decision to give Max an F1 seat (please notice HELMUT MARKO, as in HELMUT MARKO, not Christian Horner, definitely not Jos Verstappen) because in their minds he was too young and needed 1 more year in the lower series. Max proved all of them wrong and Helmut right. As a side note to this day Helmut has never been proven wrong in regard to drivers he chose.

Max has gained his F1 seat due to his own freaking talent, he impressed the right people, so much so that they took a chance even though he was really young.

So how about you shut your sh*t spewing mouth about how Max got into F1. If you want to defend your fav just defend them without dragging a driver you obviously resent and spreading lies about them.

WTF is this, I don't see you moaning about Nico getting his F1 seat due to his father (and Keke is a f*cking F1 Drivers' Champion) or about Mick (and his dad is the Michael Schumacher), nor about Damon Hill (and Graham Hill is not only an F1 Drivers' Champion, but also the only driver to win the triple crown), or Nelson Piquet Jr (his dad is also an F1 Drivers' Champion), or about Gilles Villeneuve (Jacques might not be a champion, but he won races and was runner up, aka got 2nd in the drivers' standings, in 1979, not to mention he is considered among the best drivers, even without a championship to his name). If you don't think these drivers got their seat because of the champion last name, what makes you think Max did?!? Jos Verstappen is a nobody (sorry, Max) compared to actual F1 champions, he didn't even win a race, remember? The only other father you could compare Jos' level of "fame" and "power" with is Jan Magnussen, yet I don't see you saying Jan helped Kevin get his F1 seat.

And I thought the stupidity of Max haters couldn't grow even more, oops, my bad.

The one thing Jos did right was prepare Max for F1, the hate that a driver gets, especially when he is one of the best, the downright maliciousness, rudeness, cut-throat environment, the toxicity of this sport. Max has such a strong mentality, and we should credit Jos for that.

Okay so the Horner - Daniel thing I'll say at the start that this is based mostyly on what I think happened and some VERY FEW info I read on doubtful sources and I do not claim it as the truth or anything that should be treated as a fact - it's just me putting together a puzzle out of pieces that do not fit entairly and I will ever say I'm right about this (so I'm making this for fun mostly and please do not hate me for it)

I think the whole thing was and their weird (at least to me) relationship is based on the fact that back in 2014 Daniel had a good racing record and he was chosen mainly by Horner (Helmut was never a big fan of Ricciardo, not a hater but you know what I mean, he wanted somebody else) who immedaitely treated him like the next big star - which was true at the beginning, he outpreformed his teammate quite often. At that point Seb was already one leg in Ferrari and (I have nothing to prove this but I do think that RBR was quite hurt by their original golden boy leaving) it's possible that Horner saw this as a chance to increase his infulence in the team (Helmut's pick that turned out to be genius was leaving so he wanted to be the one who would find the next one - thus Daniel is conected to his feeling of power or something); The world wasn't on Daniel's side though and Max was already making impressions from his first season (2015) and Helmut already had his plans set for him so Daniel was kept in the background because to make a Champion in RBR both heads of the toxic hydra need to agree and Marko didn't see things the way Horner did. Mind you, the car was quite bad from 2015 on so Daniel didn't really get a chance to make a lasting impression (that just proves his skills in my opinion, the car wasn't helping but he was still getting decent points and even podiums but anyway); When Max and Daniel became teammates in 2016 I'm sure Jos made it clear what Max's position in the team should be (remember that a lot of teams were interested in him and the contract would be easy to break if the Verstappen camp didn't get what they wanted) and Helmut was very much on board with shaping his new golden star. Daniel, obviously, didn't want to be a second seat driver, so Horner (I think it was in one of the interviews) told him they could fight for the #1 spot (that would be given the priority - it worked with Seb and Mark so I assume RBR saw no point in changing the rules - ESPECIALLY with the Mercedes drama of 2016) and we all know how it went. I think the pressure was growing inside the team, Max was clearly set by Helmut to be the next Champion and Horner had to agree becasue numbers don't lie and once again Marko had more to say than the team principal (gotta feel for the guy, so many fails). Renault was promising him wonders so Daniel decided to go, knowing that he won't be the #1 in RBR as long as Max was there (they are besties and I doubt what happened on the track really did anything to their friendship so please don't think I believe what is in DTS or anything - I never watched it). There was some drama about his split from the team, I saw some dodgy articles (yes, I know, there is no truth in them) about a fight inside the team and Horner or Marko saying that it was a betrayal or something like that but I doubt it's ture. Anyway, Renault's plan failed miserably, Daniel got a chance in McLaren with very much the same mentality as RBR ("one #1 driver and a support, be happy you drive for us" kind of thing) - yet another toxic working space In the end I think he agreed to go back to RBR because there was no other options and he really liked some of the people there. I'm sure Horner took him back with the promise that he will be a RBR driver once again but Sergio surprised them with doing better than they thought (I know Helmut was surprised and I think Horner wasn't expecting that) and by making sure his contract was guarded from a sudden swap with VB. I have a theory that Marko was for the plan because he wanted to use his weird motivational tactics to get Checo to perform better but I will never know. Again, the whole drama is weird and this whole situation is weird but I just wanted to state my opinion here, hope it is somehow readable.

My theories about why Horner can't let go are: - He realized that if he wants more power he needs to do things the same way Helmut did - by bulding support inside the team and what would work better than a driver who you saved from retirement and one that will be loyal to you? (So he wants what Max and Marko have and is butthurt that he can't becuase Sergio didn't turn into his puppet when he fished him out of unemployment land); - He misses the good old days when his voice couldn't be shut down with a single reminder of the scandal and when he was seen as an important member of the team and not treated with suspicion; - He is trying to fuel the hate even more by making one of the most vicious fanbases towards Checo even more mad so he keeps name dropping him just to watch the world burn ("I hope to keep Daniel in the RBR family"... Really Christian? And you'll say you do not want people to hate on Sergio?) - And as usual the Fanfiction option: he is in love with Daniel for real and doesn't want to see him sad or something;

First of all, I want to thank you for indulge me with the DR and CH thing; I honestly didn't care about RBR before Checo joined the blasted team, so I probably missed a lot of things, and DTS doesn't help AT ALL!

For what I saw in the show, at least Horner was shocked when Ricciardo decided to go to Renault, like how dare he betray them and not stick to Mark's legacy of being a second driver? It must have been hard for Daniel to see everything balancing to Max, and back then Max was a little wild, he was quite young, still trying to fit in a world that didn't want him there (most drivers were kind of mean to him, only Checo, Alonso and Hulkenberg openly accepted him and defended him).

Have to ask though, what do you think of Maxiel? I was not involved in them back in the day, but now that the fans are trying to prove that's the supreme pairing instead of Chestappen, I saw a few clips and it seems kind of... forced? I don't know, like kids playing around being forced to interact. But I'm delusional, I know, just my impressions. I know they're besties, but as teammates... the dynamic seems weird to me.

I feel the theory about Horner wanting more power is the one! Having Daniel there will not only secure having his gratitude (allegely), but also he's Max's best friend, so he could also keep Max happy and mantain some balance, the thing Checo brings to the team. Having Daniel meant they could get rid of Checo, we all thought so, I actually believed Checo would be nuked for the 2024 season. But he didn't count on Checo's thinking ahead and preparing himself to make harder for them to just fire him.

Or maybe yeah, Horner loveees Daniel and wants him close all the time, that could work too.

It was also nice to see Alonso stepping up and being so protective of our little Charlie 🥺 and so terrible of Jos to put his grubby appendages on Max in front of everybody! I hate that man, I HATE HIM!

I’m sure sending Charles out into the field is either a plot to simply get him killed or to expose Max’s feelings, and while I’m not looking forward to the ramifications of that at all, I feel like we’re going to get some protective!max somehow and I’m excited about it, even if it might scare the living daylights out of his Eldri 😅 but I’m also feeling pretty wary about Carlos and all of his feelings… not sure I trust him to protect Charles if he needs to 🤔

It seems far away, but I’ll still be over here crossing my fingers for some crumbs of fluff for the boys sooner rather than later 🤞

The ABO universe has always resonated with me, and I wanted to play on those ideas a little bit with my use of the instincts/hindbrain/designation dynamics in this work. A need for balance in a relationship or in a mated pair just speaks to me and having that need for the other with Max never needing anyone or anything provides me with some extra fun 🙃

The whole time, it's been, what is he doing? why is he doing that? when did that start? what is the goal?? and we got a bigger chunk of the puzzle filled in after 21. More will be filled in before the end of part 1 as well!

I'm not going to comment on the battle or Max and Carlos 🙃 you'll just have to wait and see on that one.

Ok, i know it sounds fake but I swear it’s not. My uncle has been racing karts and cars locally for close to 45 years, and he’s met a lot of people in that time, one of those people is a semi local guy who used to race karts professionally (I don’t know if he still does, but he might because he’s not that much older than me) and at one point was max’s teammate when he raced on the Italian championship.

This guy told my uncle a lot about those years, and one of the things he told him is that jos not only used to beat max up pretty regularly (already well known fact but still absolutely shitty to hear a confirmation) but he also used to sort of threaten and sort of bribe the team (all alleged, because it’s hearsay and id rather not be sued?) to make sure max had the best set up, components and team. Also everyone in the paddock knew how shitty of a parent and a man he was, but no one did or said anything because he wasn’t someone that they wanted to cross.

This makes wayyyy more sense than Jos sleeping with the assistant // that rumour was made up last year by the verstappen hate page that was up for ages before it was taken down.

Some people believe Kelly had her hands involved with that page, because it happened the last time a hate page for at the time one member of the verstappen family was made. That account was run by Kelly’s biggest fan page at the time. And she exposed the DMs with Kelly where Kelly is basically denying everything but the admin is super confused because Kelly “pushed” her minor fan base to do something against jos publicly as he doesn’t like her. And because it took ages to get the hate page last year down and Kelly fans just a matter of hours/days to get big accounts down, they believe Kelly was in some way involved again.

Not saying it is true but Kelly and maxs family do not get along since last year in st Barths when Kelly and/or her agency called the paps multiple times.

I’m not a Jos hater but I could well believe has slept with people in the paddock lol. I could even believe he slept with the assistant. Do I think that’s the reason for all this? Absolutely not.

As for the Instagram drama…meh. Sorry to say I really don’t believe these people spend as much time on social media as people think they do. People saying the wags spend their lives reading and messaging gossip accounts and conspiring to base their actions off that stuff seems…a bit delulu. None of these women’s livelihoods are based on what a couple of pick me bitches on Instagram think. I know Kelly is a divisive person and I really cannot be bothered to get the crazies back in the inbox bitching (I will delete all these messages this time I really am too tired), so I will just say this: Max Verstappen, her boyfriend of four years whom she shares a home with, makes (at a conservative estimate) about €12m per MONTH. She is not, short of a brain haemorrhage, manufacturing gossip about the closest person in the world to him over Instagram. Be fucking for real.

I don’t doubt that Max’s family is not super fond of her for whatever reason, but I’m not sure I buy into that being the reason. But I don’t know and i think as long as they are able to remain civil that’s all you need from in-laws.
