The Color of Love
Request: If you're still accepting requests with that prompt list, I'd absolutely love to request 11/soulmate au with Jooheon if possible! 🥺 There are never enough MX fics, especially not adorable fluffy ones!
Prompt:
11) Soulmate AU
Pairing: Monsta X Jooheon x Reader
Genre: Fluff
.
Every love story was different, but always held the same three characteristics.
It could be ANYONE. Literally any person you pass on the street could be your soulmate. Didn't feel tiny in the expansive universe already?
It could happen at ANY time. Fifth grade math lesson? Accidental shoulder check at the grocery store? Awkward doctor's appointment? There was no telling where love would rear its ugly head.
Love in this new age? It always started with a burst of color.
"All I could see was this bright green going from my hand down my forearm," your best friend, Mina, rushed out excitedly. "It almost made me drop the weight I was holding."
"That's great, babe," you smiled, trying to be happy for her. "Who is the lucky guy?"
"His name is Hajoon," she continued dreamily. "I guess he'd seen me at the gym before but was too scared to say anything. Isn't that adorable?"
You would probably be going to Hell for not being over the moon for your best friend, but it was hard when you were still waiting.
Society put such an emphasis on finding your soulmate, it was impossible to think of much else. Going about your day, you tried to pay attention to who you brushed past or made casual physical contact with. That's how you would know.
When you touched your soulmate, color would bloom across your skin at the point of impact.
"Super cute," you sighed, avoiding eye contact. "So he saw you start to struggle and saved the day by spotting you?"
"Mhm," she hummed. "As soon as his fingers touched the back of my hand, it was like someone threw dye onto our arms. It was the craziest thing!"
"Sounds beautiful," you nodded, giving your best effort at a smile.
Clocking your failed attempts at support, Mina smiled sadly in return. "It's going to happen for you soon. I can feel it."
"Can you pass some of that feeling to me?" you grumbled. "I'd prefer not to ruin such a big day for my best friend."
"Hush," she cooed, wrapping an arm around you. "You haven't ruined anything. Sour mood or not, I have some good news."
"What's that?"
"Hajoon works for an entertainment company," she nodded. "He's an executive-"
"Cute AND rich?" you teased. "That IS some excellent news for you."
Smacking at your leg, Mina continued. "He asked if I wanted to go to a concert put on by his work. We have plans to meet up after, but do you want to go to the concert with me? He said I could bring a friend while he's working backstage on things."
"Why not?" you sighed. "Maybe I'll get elbowed in the crowd and accidentally find my soulmate."
"That's the spirit!"
.
A few days later, you allowed Mina to get you dressed up, acting as her doll for the night. You could admit that you were going through the motions as you followed her to the venue. Determined to make sure it was a good night for her, you put on as bright of a smile as you could when she handed you a light stick.
"The group is called Monsta X," she instructed. "They have six members, and their music is really exciting."
"Got it," you nodded, positive you had listened to their songs before. "Who's my favorite?"
"Not Hyungwon," she grinned. "He's my favorite."
"Point him out to me so I know to stay clear," you chuckled.
"We also have a high touch after," she said brightly, tugging you through the crowd.
"High touch," you confirmed, searching your brain for what exactly that meant. "Can't wait."
"You're going to have fun," Mina said slowly, looking over her shoulder at you. "I promise."
And she was right, the show was a blast. You had never experienced a live concert like Monsta X's before. The energy of the crowed literally radiated through your body. You were right that you had heard some of their music before and sang along to all of the songs you knew. Being lost in the crowd that was all feeling the same electricity was incredible. It's like you were one giant, synchronous being.
After the show, you were a bit flustered from all the activity, nearly forgetting you had a chance to meet the idols before leaving (yes, you did break down and ask Mina what exactly a high touch was). Allowing her to once again navigate you to where you needed to be, it wasn't long before you were thrust in front of the very men you had been howling at only minutes before.
Pushing you in front of her, Mina pointed to the first member facing your way for the high touch. "That's Hyungwon."
Assessing him, you could easily see why he was her favorite. Handsome was an understatement, this man was ethereal. "Yeeaah he is."
"Y/N," your friend giggled, giving you a slight push. Taking the few steps forward, you slapped your hand in his for a high five. The moment lasted only seconds but there was a bit of a rush to meeting a celebrity.
Next came a tall, tan, and buff member you would later learn was Shownu.
After, you locked eyes with the third member, remembering him as one of the vibrant mood makers of the group. He had been incredible on stage.
As your hand skid across his, you shot back with a gasp.
"Yah!" the member shouted, hopping backwards as well. His focus ricocheted from his palm to yours, mouth completely agape. Looking down in fascination, colors began to wrap around his wrist and trickle down his arm.
Shocked by what was happening, you glanced down at your own arm as well, getting lost in the cloud-like imagery blossoming across your skin.
Gasps erupted around you by both spectators and other Monsta X members. You couldn't help but feel like you did something wrong. Like you weren't allowed to have someone so interesting and good looking as a soulmate.
This simply could not be possible.
"Hey!" Jooheon yelled, bringing your attention back to him. He wasn't talking to you, but shouting at a staff member while aggressively waving them over. "Yo!"
Snapping out of it a bit, you took another step back, only to be slightly held up by Mina behind you. This was sensory overload to the nth degree.
"Y/N," she hissed, her own eyes darting across the scene. "Did...did you just sync up with Jooheon? Is he your soulmate?"
Jooheon. You had never heard his name before, but it just sounded right.
"I...I think so," you managed, not entirely believing what was happening.
A staff member had finally appeared, listening to Jooheon as he rapid-fired the situation to his manager. Occasionally shooting looks of surprise your way, he didn't stop talking until they had both sidled up to you.
"We're stepping away from the high touch," his manager explained, taking you by the elbow and guiding you towards an adjacent hallway. "The fan meet will continue without Joohoney."
"That's not fair," you said slowly, shaking your head. Glancing to the man you assumed you were tied to for life now, you heaved a sigh. "Your fans have waited so long for you."
Looking helplessly back and forth between you and his manager, Jooheon croaked. "But you're my soulmate."
"I'm not saying I'm going to disappear," you smiled reassuringly. "I'll just wait until you're done. I've waited this long."
Giving a curt nod, Jooheon's eyes searched your face for a moment. His lips pulled into a slow smile before he reached up, giving your nose a boop. Immediately, his manager's jaw dropped, presumably as color stretched across the middle of your face.
Pleased with himself, Jooheon turned on his heel and took up his spot behind the table again. Maintaining eye contact with you, he offered a dazzling smile.
"Alright," his manager breathed out on a sigh. "Let's get you backstage, shall we?"
.
Lost in your phone, trying to explain what was going on to the friend you had abandoned, you almost didn't notice him walk in.
Hearing the quiet click of the door closing, your head immediately snapped up to see Jooheon leaning against the entrance. His expression was full of hope, with a fringe of excitement. You could tell he was trying to reign in his enthusiasm. Judging by how hard he went on the stage; he seemed like a very reactive person. This quiet and careful side of him wasn't something you had really expected.
You supposed you had a lot to learn.
Crossing the room slowly, he took a seat on the coffee table in front of the couch you were sitting on. He bracketed your knees with his, creating an intimate space between the two of you.
Without hesitation, he took your hands gently between his, a light purple color already blooming from your fingertips. "Y/N, right?"
You barely remembered telling his manager your name, so he likely got passed the information.
"That's me."
"My soulmate."
You nodded weakly, looking from your joined hands and back up to his face. He smiled again before lifting your fingers to his mouth and kissing each tip in turn. As he did, it was like dropping food coloring into a glass of water. Different hues clouded out of your joints and went swirling around your skin. It was one of the most beautiful things you had ever seen.
Glancing up, you were immediately struck by the bright blue peppering Jooheon's mouth like ink blots. Slowly the color started to fade as your skin had lost contact with his mouth, but you still felt mesmerized by the whole experience.
"You're so beautiful," you said quietly, your eyes locking on his.
He gave you a close-lipped smile before tilting his head. Narrowing his eyes, he lifted his arm, and traced a small line on your cheekbone. You didn't have to see the result yourself to know that the visual had just as much of an effect on him as it did you.
"This is beautiful," he finally responded, dropping his hands to gather yours again. "I don't think I'll ever get tired of it."
"Me either," you breathed.
"I guess it gives me an excuse to hold your hand," he grinned, his eyes disappearing as it grew.
"You didn't need an excuse in the first place!" you laughed. "You're my soulmate now. You can hold my hand whenever you want."
"My soulmate," he whispered again. Each time he had voiced the words, there was a constant undertone of wonder.
"I don't think I'll get tired of hearing you say that," you chuckled, sure a blush was blazing across your face.
Jooheon furrowed his brows in thought. "Did you come to the show today as a fan? Was I your favorite?"
You coughed out a surprised laugh.
"It would be really awkward if you had a different favorite. If it was someone else, don't tell me who...
Okay, who was it?"
You continued to laugh as you shook your head. "I was only ever a casual fan. My friend had tickets and insisted I tag along. I promise I will be a Monbebe going forward, and you will always be my favorite."
"Damn right," he muttered. "And stay away from Minhyuk. He's more charming than I'd ever admit to him, and I don't want you getting caught in his cute little clutches."
"I will remain unshaken in my loyalty," you affirmed with a smirk. Plus, you had no idea who Minhyuk was, so that helped.
It was crazy to think of. If Mina didn't bring you here today, would you have ever discovered that Jooheon existed? Let alone that he was your soulmate?
You didn't want to think too hard on it. The universe worked in mysterious ways that you didn't expect to ever be privy to.
"So..." you hummed, glancing at Jooheon through your lashes. "What now?"
"Everything," he grinned, squeezing your hand. "We only have forever to figure out what happens next."

Monsta X Kinks & Turn-Ons
@iibonniee Hide ya brain cells. I’m back with another kinky shit post that’ll likely end up with Monbebes throwing me in a closet.
Hyunwoo || Venus: Gemini, Mars: Taurus || Turn On: Control
Mr. Traditional. Likes fun and variety with witty conversation. He’s a sensual guy, but it takes a lot to get him going. Try harder, baby. He can be romantically impulsive. Likes to please and tease at his own place. Just give him the reins, you know you want to.
Minhyuk || Venus: Libra, Mars: Scorpio || Turn On: Foreplay
Mr. Idealistic. He’s willing to make your relationship by conceding and adjust his life to accommodate you. Loves to share everything with you, but don’t take advantage of it! Treats you exactly how he wants to be treated. Has a taste for mature partners. He’s a hopeless romantic who loves a challenge and finds it difficult to share his partners. Not saying he’s against it. Just might struggle to watch you. He’s attracted to “taboos” and wild fantasies, so share yours with him. Pretty sure he’s down to try it. He’s got stamina for days and enjoys submissive partners.
Kihyun || Venus: Scorpio, Mars: Sagittarius || Kink: Shibari Bondage
Our resident kink master. He’s intense as fuck. That prince charming grin is a trap. “Isn’t afraid of getting his mind dirty.” Excuse me, wtf. Penny for his thoughts. Never gives up. “Strong sexual powers.” So he’s what, the Harry Potter of sex? I have several questions. He’s blunt and eager, amorous and sensual. We knew that tho. He tends to focus on his partner with laser precision and you know what requires that much attention to detail? Shibari. It’s its own art form and I can see him being a HUGE fan of it. He can get possessive to the point of jealousy if you don’t prove your loyalty to him. All the dom vibes. Fight me. Though he’s not incapable of giving you control once he feels secure enough in your relationship. Good luck.
Hyungwon || Venus: Capricorn, Mars: Capricorn || Turn On: Someone willing to ride
The Pillow Prince. He’s a realist and will be “upfront” with you. He’ll try to win you over by showing you he has self-control (it’s a trap) and likely bait you into doing most of the work. He’s a romantic looking for a soulmate, and when he thinks he’s found The One, you’ll see him exerting more of his precious energy. Shy but willing to commit. Wants to show you off in a quiet way. And the sex? Keep it nasty if you can.
Jooheon || Venus: Scorpio, Mars: Leo || Kink: Praise (Receiving)
No one is shocked by this. Has a strong need for a partnership. 🥺 Someone cuff him. Like Kiki, he gets possessive and makes it his mission to ruin you. Get you addicted to him through pleasure and commitment, body and soul. Sign me tf up. Wants to explore every inch of you, inside and out, but will guard his secrets until he feels he can trust you with them. Another guy prone to jealousy but it's because he’s so devoted to you and he’ll fight dirty to win your heart. Borderline nympho as he’s easily turned on (no fr, tell him he did a good job) and will give it to you anywhere (like, say the backseat of his car). Honey acts with his heart and goes all in.
Changkyun || Venus: Pisces, Mars: Aquarius || Turn On: The Art of Seduction
Our Lone Wolf favors instant gratification except when it comes to choosing a partner, even if it's just for one night. He’s straightforward (ofc), dreamy and soft-hearted. Can be sweetly playful when he starts to fall for you. He does have a Captain Save-a-Hoe complex so you gotta make sure he’s attracted to you and not your situation. Expect lots of tender moments and romance. Extra points if you’re older. Likes surprising you with his open-mindedness. Don’t just give in; make him work for it. He’ll delight you with his wit and determination and turn you out in bed.
Hoseok || Venus: Aries, Mars: Cancer || Kink: Breeding, Switch
Mr. Thirst Trap. This shameless flirt has a childish charm, and he uses it like a weapon. You will not survive. He loves to tease and is looking for an energetic partner to keep up with his stamina. Requires plenty of stimulation and likes to lead and please you. Just trust him. Reacts spontaneously and intensely to the Object of Obsessive Horniness and will make it known. Though he doesn’t want kids, he still gets a kick out of the thrill and possessiveness of stuffing you with cum.

Diffused sunlight filtered in through the hanji on the latticework window in the room and roused the Princess from her restless slumber. As she slowly started to wake, the events from the day before settled on her shoulders and the Princess winced as her eyes started to burn. She blinked rapidly and turned onto her side with her back towards the main door of her room. The tears streamed down her face silently and the Princess clutched a pillow tightly to her chest. Her head, temples and right in the center of her eyes throbbed nonstop. The pain was unrelenting and the Princess bit her lower lip to keep from making any sounds of distress.
The early morning light darkened outside. The rising sun now hid behind thick grey clouds and the scent of rain carried on the wind. From under the roofing of the butterfly house, Chan and Jooheon frowned as it started to rain heavily. Mingi, Aga and Hoseok cursed as the rain had interrupted their early morning sparring session.
“It wasn’t supposed to rain today,” Mingi sighed with a frown as his hair poked him in the eye.
Aga grunted in response and tossed the weapon in his hands towards Hoseok. Hoseok easily caught the weapon and watched as Aga rushed off in the direction of the butterfly house. Mingi, who was now soaked, offered to tidy up the training area since Hoseok needed to get back to the Prince before he woke. Hoseok thanked Mingi and took him up on the offer as he headed into the palace to get out of the rain. He was soaked as well, his hair was plastered to his face but he didn’t really mind. It was all part of his job.
On his way to the Prince’s chambers, Hoseok greeted Minho in the halls and the older man bowed before he hurried off, out of Hoseok’s sight. Hoseok clicked his tongue and swept his wet hair from his face before he continued on his way to the Prince’s chambers. He wasn’t surprised to see Prince Yoongi standing by an open window in nothing but a loose pair of dark gray trousers and a red kimono robe with gold larch flowers embroidered on the fabric.
The Prince’s blond hair hung nearly at the middle of his back and Hoseok took notice. By now the rain came down in droplets the size of cherries and the gray overcast turned into a murky smoke color. A thick layer of fog rolled over the land and settled around the palace. Hoseok squared his shoulders and stepped farther into the room. He stood beside the Prince and watched as the fog seemed to devour everything it touched.
“Do you bring news of the Princess?”
Hoseok kept his focus outside of the window as he clasped his hands behind his back.
“The Princess dismissed everyone last night after she asked to be alone. Aga stood guard with Jooheon to follow the Princess’ request.” Hoseok sighed as he spoke, he knew this information would upset the Prince. “Mingi spoke with the Princess last night as an ear-”
“Does she hate me as much as I hate myself?”
Hoseok whipped his head to the side to gaze at his friend and Prince Yoongi’s face was twisted in anguish. His lips were downturned and his eyes were dull and muddled with a layer of unshed tears. This was the face of a man deeply hurt and betrayed. Hoseok reached out and placed a hand on the back of Prince Yoongi’s neck in comfort.
“Yoongi-”
Prince Yoongi held up his hand as he silenced Hoseok and turned away from the window. “You’re dismissed, Lieutenant.”
Hoseok pressed his lips in a firm line and bowed deeply, “As you wish, your Highness…”
Hoseok left the Prince’s chambers and clicked his tongue as he thought back to the sorrow on his friend’s face. He understood the inner workings of the palace, Hoseok wasn’t an idiot. Power plays were a must to secure a better future for those next in line. However, he couldn’t shake the image of the Prince’s sullen face from his mind. What price had been paid for the future?
A loud crash sounded from behind the door and Hoseok waved off the guards as their hands went right to the hilt of the swords.
“Give his Highness...privacy. Call me if the situation becomes dire.” Hoseok inhaled deeply and racked his neck before he walked off in the direction of Seokjin’s office. He hoped his friend would be able to shed more light on the situation at hand.
In the Prince’s chambers, Prince Yoongi paced back and forth as he chewed on the bitten skin of his thumb. His other hand was tangled tightly in his hair and his vision was blurring as he replayed the events of the day prior. There was no way that Princess Keena did not hate him and he couldn’t find fault in her feelings. It pained the Prince to think of that sweet smile and bell-like laughter that he grew so fond of becoming a distant memory. Would the Princess forbid him from ever seeing her again? Would their last moments together be a sunny and clear picture ruined by the water of fallen tears?
Prince Yoongi grabbed the closest thing to him - a vase full of cherry blossoms - and threw it in the direction that Hoseok had walked. The vase crashed against the main doors to his chambers and Prince Yoongi shouted, the ragged and watery sound morphed into something much more smokey and submerged as it tapered off into a roar.
Black patches of scales started to form on the Prince’s body and his nails elongated, no longer blunt but razor sharp. The Prince clenched his teeth and hissed as the sudden fangs pierced his tongue. The metallic taste of blood was a welcomed flavor and Prince Yoongi licked along his teeth with a twisted smirk on his scaly face. Agust hadn’t come to the surface. The Prince had full control of his emotions, but Agust did lend the Prince more of his rage to physically show that the Prince himself was more than distraught.
Confront them!
Agust’s voice was loud, so very loud as it echoed in the Prince’s mind. As the Prince’s animal spirit, Agust was tasked with protecting the hatchling. The Prince’s rage was Agust’s rage and he wanted the Prince to make his displeasure known; more than anything he wanted to see the carnage of the Prince’s fury.
Confront them!
Prince Yoongi caught a glimpse of his reflection in the mirror and he stood frozen. Golden eyes glared at him as he flinched at the mere sight of himself. Agust was right, Prince Yoongi needed to confront his parents but not like this…not with Agust so close to the surface. Agust hissed deep within the Prince’s soul and sneered as he poked at the open wound that grew on the Prince’s heart. He pointed out the Prince’s weakness and laughed mockingly as he wrapped his black claws around the Prince’s heart. They dug deep into the bruised and battered muscle and the Prince winced.
They lied! You are nothing but a pawn. Confront them!
In the butterfly house, Princess Keena sat dressed in a dark grey kaftan made of muslin cloth. The v-neck of the robe was lined by thin braided fabric that went over the shoulders and hung loosely from the ends of the wide half sleeves. The dress covered the Princess’ feet as she sat curled in on herself once again outside on the engawa. The rain showed no sign of stopping for the day and the Princess sighed. Her gaze turned towards the sky and she imagined herself sitting on the back of a cape teal duck on her way back to her homeland. Her lower lip started to tremble and the Princess shook her head.
She refused to cry again, her whole face hurt from her tears and the skin had been rubbed raw from all the wiping. The handmaidens had come by the Princess’ room with food and she turned them away. The knot in her stomach wouldn’t allow for food. Princess Keena closed her eyes and silent tears fell against her will as she failed to recall the happiness she had felt when she first arrived in the Min empire. Chan walked a lap around the home and he bowed low to the Princess who hadn’t seemed to see him. He took in the Princess’ ragged appearance, her face was swollen and her eyes were glossy; Chan frowned.
“Excuse me, Princess?” Chan called softly so that he wouldn’t startle the young woman.
Princess Keena’s eyes found Chan’s and he noticed a silver ring around the brown of her irises.
“Would you care to take a walk through the grounds? I passed Namjoon in my rounds. I am sure he would enjoy showing you the beauty of the butterfly house.”
Princess Keena blinked slowly as Chan’s words rattled around her mind. They were jumbled and watered down but after a moment they became clear and the Princess stared at Chan silently. Was this the first time he had spoken to her? Princess Keena took in his long midnight blue hair that was always pulled off his forehead and out of his face that exposed his cider brown eyes. Chan’s face was pleasant to look at with a wide nose and thick, mauve lips. He was strong and capable, with wide shoulders and a tapered waist. Princess Keena found herself nodding her head at Chan’s words. Chan smiled, a closed mouth grin that didn’t reach his eyes, but was friendly nonetheless.
“Please prepare yourself and I will fetch Namjoon.” Chan bowed once more and headed off in the direction that he last saw Namjoon.
Princess Kenna rubbed at her eyes and hissed as she irritated the tender skin. She rose to her feet and stepped back inside of her room, sliding the door closed for privacy. Most of her clothing was located in another room, but her handmaidens were smart enough to keep a few simple pieces of clothing close by. The Princess pulled on a thick robe to keep the chill of the rain from bothering her. It was a plain navy colored robe with silver angelfish and storks embroidered onto the fabric. The sleeves were long and hung past the Princess’ fingers, reaching mid thigh with a thick silver silk band around the hemming. Slowly the Princess slipped her feet into a pair of navy shoes and she pinned her hair into a bun at the back of her head.
Princess Keena didn’t bother with jewelry nor did she ask her handmaids to help her get ready for her walk with Namjoon. There was no makeup or extravagant hair ornaments. Once ready for the walk, Princess Keena made her way to step back outside through the door but Namjoon’s presence was announced from the door that led into her room. Princess Keena allowed for Hyejin to enter her room and Hyejin said nothing as she beckoned for the Princess to follow her to the main foyer of the butterfly house. At the main entrance of the butterfly house, Namjoon stood with two parasols in his hands. His light blue hair was pulled out of his face and tied into a high ponytail while the outfit he wore was simple, much like the Princess’.
Namjoon wore black hakama pants, a black nagajuban with a dark grey kimono over it that had large navy flowers patterned on it and white matching flowers stitched along the hem. His obi - belt - was dark grey with the same navy flowers. Namjoon smiled softly and bowed when he saw the Princess and she bowed her head.
“The weather is a little fickle today, so please accept this-” Namjoon offered the Princess one of the parasols, “and enjoy the tour around your new accommodations.”
Princess Keena stared at Namjoon and her lips twisted into a scowl. “Is this extravagant prison supposed to smother the flames of my ire?”
Namjoon’s eyes widened at the Princess’ words and Yongsun stepped in. “Mind your words, Princess.”
The Princess narrowed her eyes at Yongsun but kept silent. She took the proffered parasol and walked out the front door silently. Mingi and Minho both straightened up at the sight of the Princess and she paid them no mind as she stepped into the rain. Namjoon and Yongsun shared a look before Namjoon cleared his throat, bowed and hurried after the Princess.
“Princess, if it would please you…I would like to show you the main garden and then show you the rest of the structure.”
The Princess nodded her head and remained silent as Namjoon led her to the center of the courtyard. There in the corner sat a garden of bamboo surrounded by snapdragons, azaleas, lupines and rock cress. There was a small stone path that led to the garden and broke off in another direction that led to a stone garden in the center of a koi pond. It was beautiful, the bright flowers stood strong in the rain and Namjoon noticed that the rain had lessened a little.
“If you would like to add or remove any of the flowers, please do not hesitate to ask, Princess.” Namjoon watched as the Princess knelt down and ran her fingers over the petals of a dark blue lupine.
“My mother loves lupine…” The Princess stared at the flowers and the frown on her face slowly started to melt away. “When I was younger, my mother snuck us out of the palace and she took me to visit a friend of hers from her childhood. They owned a lupine field and I ran through those flowers for hours.”
Princess Keena slowly pulled her hand away from the flowers. “My mother chased me and we played hide and seek…it was one of the happiest days of my life.” Princess Keena stood to her full height and didn’t take her eyes off the flowers. “I have woken up to lupine flowers at my bedside everyday since then.”
Princess Keena turned to Namjoon with tears gathered at the corner of her eyes and she smiled as her bottom lip trembled. “I forgot how beautiful they were.”
Namjoon stepped forwards and bent at the knee. He carefully plucked a lupine from the bunch and stood before the Princess. “May I?” Tears fell from the Princess’ eyes as she nodded her head and Namjoon gently tucked the flower into her hair. The dark blue petals glowed against the Princess’ skin and Namjoon cupped her cheek lightly before he thumbed away her tears. “I cannot tell which is the flower.”
Minho rolled his eyes at Namjoon’s words and Mingi coughed loudly to cover his laugh. Princess Keena shook her head and Namjoon pulled his hand from her face with a wink.
“Is that one of the royal gardener's best lines?” The Princess teased and Namjoon threw his head back with a laugh.
“So far it has only worked on one person.”
Princess Keena’s smile was teasing as she patted Namjoon’s chest. “I think I would like to meet the person that worked on.”
Namjoon’s face heated for a moment and he rubbed the back of his neck. “I think the two of you would become good friends. He should be here within a fortnight to start on artwork within your home.”
“You are in love with an artist?”
Namjoon toed at the stones underneath his shoes and smiled shyly, his dimples out for everyone to see.
“May I know this mystery artist's name?”
Namjoon nodded his head and cleared his throat, “Jungkook…Jeon Jungkook.”
The Princess smiled and motioned for Namjoon to continue the tour of the butterfly house. As they put some distance between Minho and Mingi, the Princess glanced at Namjoon and looked around the rest of the garden.
“You are different from when we first met Kim Namjoon. You have a gentle and powerful soul within…”
Namjoon nearly tripped over his own two feet at the Princess’ words and she was quick to grab hold of his arm to keep him upright. Namjoon looked at the Princess and his eyes flashed a striking forest green before they changed back to their warm brown. Princess Keena smiled and Namjoon stared at her with wide eyes.
“I’m an impundulu, one of the most powerful beings that has ever lived…I know when I am in the presence of an old soul.” Princess Keena glanced over her shoulder to make sure that Mingi and Minho were far enough away to speak. “You have nothing to fear from me, Namjoon. I will keep your secret and honor your wishes, whatever they may be.”
Namjoon squinted his eyes in thought and raised a single eyebrow. “Can you call off the rain? You’re drowning my seedlings.”
The Princess laughed for the first time since yesterday and the rain slowly lightened up and it stopped once they were back in front of the butterfly house. The sky above was a faint blue with soft white clouds scattered all over. Namjoon grinned and bumped his elbow into the Princess’ arm before he spoke up once more.
“Let me properly show you the butterfly house, Princess.” Namjoon offered his arm and Princess Keena placed her hand on Namjoon’s lower bicep.
“Thank you, Namjoon…I missed the blue sky.”
In the innermost walls of the palace, Emperor and Empress Min sat once again in a room before their friends and allies in the Escistan kingdom. Queen Tiali and King Baasi’s forms were clear with a faint glow as they were shown with the sight gem. Empress Min sat with her hands in her lap and a tight smile on her face. The war with the west had started earlier than what was planned for. The west struck fast in the night once they caught wind of the Min Empire sending aid and support. Two of the Princes of Escistan had gone to fight while the oldest and youngest princes stayed behind to help with royal affairs and train with the rearguard.
“What aid do you require from us?” Emperor Min questioned as he watched the youthfulness in his friend’s eyes dim.
“For now our defenses will hold until more troops arrive. It was ignorant of me to assume the west would not act once news reached them of our alliance.” King Baasi frowned as he spoke and Queen Tiali grabbed hold of his hand.
“No, no,” Emperor Min spoke up with a shake of his head. “This fault lies with us. It seems we have an enemy within our walls.”
The silence that followed the Emperor’s admittance was louder than any sound.
“How is Keena? Have you given her the good news?” Queen Tiali spoke up to change the subject to a lighter matter and the expressions on the Emperor and Empress’ faces were less than pleasant.
Empress Min fisted her hands in her lap and cleared her throat before she spoke clearly. “The Princess excused herself before we were able to fully explain the betrothment-”
“Our son, the Prince as well, ran off soon after,” Emperor Min huffed as he sulked and Empress Min sighed.
“Give them time to adjust, they are still young after all.”
“Yes, I am sure with time they will grow to love each other.”
The King and Queen of Escistan offered their friend’s a smile and Empress Min nodded her head.
“Do not fret over this minor setback, my friends. As you said they are young. I am confident that this will not keep them apart.” Empress Min held up her hand to pause the conversation as a knock sounded throughout the room.
The door opened and the Empress noticed that the guard who entered was from the Prince’s section of the palace. He whispered into Emperor Min’s ear, bowed and left the room silently. Emperor Min scratched at the tip of his nose and his copper eyes glowed that familiar molton brown.
“We will reconvene at another time. I apologize for ending this meeting abruptly but the Prince has requested an audience with us.”
“Yes, yes. Go and speak with your son, Chungho. Please give our warmest wishes to the Princess.” King Baasi bowed his head and his image quickly faded away.
Empress Eunkyung watched as her husband slumped in his seat and rubbed at his temples.
“What is it that our son wishes to speak to us about?”
Emperor Min’s laugh was bitter and he slowly rose to his feet. “Our son is currently rampaging through the palace halls demanding our presence in the throne room.”
Empress Eunkyung’s lips twitched as the sudden memory of the Prince in his early toddler years ran amok through the palace in search of his parents. At that time the Prince had fallen from a tree and refused anyone’s aid unless it was his mother or father. Empress Min stood from her seat and held out her hand towards her husband.
“Let us not keep our son waiting much longer.”
Hoseok was pulled from his discussion with Seokjin by a frantic looking guard. He looked ready to keel over as he stumbled over his words and he wasn’t even half way finished when Hoseok took off running towards the throne room with Seokjin right behind him. They arrived in front of the throne room just before the Prince and Hoseok intercepted him.
“Your Highness? W-What are you doing? You are not dress-”
“Where are they?” Prince Yoongi’s voice was coarse, hardened into sharp weapons possibly aimed at the wrong people.
“Your Highness, why don’t we get back to your cham-”
Prince Yoongi snarled as Seokjin stepped up beside Hoseok and blocked his way to the throne room.
“If you don’t want your head removed from your shoulders I suggest you stand down,” the Prince glared at his two friends and they both frowned. “Now!”
Seokjin flinched at the mere volume of the Prince’s voice while Hoseok stood his ground.
“Stand down, Lieutenant Jung.”
Hoseok’s eyes flashed a smoldering ember for a brief moment before he closed them and inhaled deeply. Hoseok slapped a smile on his face and placed his hands on the Prince’s shoulders. “Now, now your Highness. You cannot hold an audience with the Emperor and Empress looking like this.” Hoseok jerked his head towards Seokjin and the older man stared at the two confused. Hoseok pressed his lips into a tight line and begged for Seokjin to help him with his eyes while the Prince stared at Hoseok unimpressed.
“Oh! Y-Yes, Her Majesty would have our heads if she saw you in such a state of undress, your Highness.” Seokjin quickly stepped forward and pulled the front of the Prince’s robe closed before he tied the belt neatly around the Prince’s waist. As the Prince stood still, Seokjin stepped behind him and combed his fingers through Prince Yoongi’s hair before he plucked the silver hair pin from his own hair and twisted the Prince’s hair into a messy topknot. Seokjin pinned the hair in place and stepped back around, his own brown hair hung around his shoulders while the Prince looked more put together before them.
Seokjin glanced over the Prince’s appearance and raised an eyebrow at the sight of the Prince’s bare feet, his toenails were pitch black and jutted out in sharp points. Hoseok followed Seokjin’s line of sight and he snorted, “Your Highness…can you put your claws away? I would like for my shoes to be returned in their pristine condition.”
Prince Yoongi glanced down at his feet and huffed, a black plume of smoke fell to the ground around his feet. “Keep your shoes, Hoseok.”
“Oh, it’s Hoseok now, is it?”
Prince Yoongi glared and Hoseok grinned. “Yes, I know, silence.” Hoseok mimed zipping his mouth shut and he playfully tucked the key away into Seokjin’s robes.
The doors to the throne room opened and Hoseok’s smile dropped while Seokjin stepped back away from the Prince.
“Mind your temper, your Highness…we will be right here when all is said and done.” Seokjin offered a smile and the Prince nodded his head once before he waited for Hoseok to step aside.
Prince Yoongi held his head high as he walked into the throne room and the door closed behind him with a soft thud. Emperor Chungho and Empress Eunkyung sat beside each other in their respective seats and watched as the Prince walked up the carpeted aisle. Prince Yoongi stood before his parents and refused to bow his head as he glared at them both. Empress Eunkyung cleared her throat gently and stared down at the Prince.
“You requested an audience and you have our attention. What is it that you wish to discuss?”
Prince Yoongi clenched his hands into fist at his sides, his nails dug into his skin and drew blood as he licked over the fangs in his mouth. Emperor Chungho scratched the tip of his nose and rested his chin on top of his knuckles as he clicked his tongue to gain his son’s attention.
“Is this about the arrangement between our empire and the Escistan kingdom?”
Prince Yoongi scoffed, “Arrangement? That’s what you are calling it?”
“We all have a duty to the Empire, Yoongi. As the first and only Prince, you are no different,” Emperor Min spoke with a firm voice and Empress Min scowled.
“Yoongi-”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” The Prince looked between his parents and they both faltered at his question. “All this time, you - you knew and, and you said nothing….” Prince Yoongi scratched at the scales on his neck, his golden eyes narrowed at the silence.
“My sweet boy, it was never a secret we meant to keep from you,” Empress Min stressed and Prince Yoongi shook his head.
“That’s a lie-”
“Yoongi, we did not lie to you.” Emperor Min stepped in and motioned between himself and his wife. “Why don’t we discuss this elsewhere?”
"Discuss what?!” Prince Yoongi’s voice rose and broke as his eyes burned bright. “You lied to me a-all this time. You lied to me!"
Empress Min stood from her seat and the Emperor was quick to grab her wrist and hold her in place while the Prince started to fall apart before them.
"S-She hates me and I have done nothing wrong!” Tears welled in the Prince’s eyes and the tip of his nose started to flush scarlet as he struggled to even look at his parents. “I am not the one at fault!"
“I am sure the Princess does not hate you,” Emperor Min spoke slowly as he stood and placed himself in front of his wife. “Give the Princess time and she will come around, I promise you.”
The laugh that spilled from the Prince’s lips was venomous as he dug his nails into his hair and pulled. The pin from Seokjin clattered to the floor and the Prince’s long blond hair flowed down his back, bright spots of red streaked throughout. "She has my heart!” The Prince’s words stung and clawed at his throat as he stumbled forward towards his parents. “I-I gave her every piece of me in our letters and she hates me!”
The Prince stood at the bottom of the steps in front of his parents and he glared, as the unshed tears in his eyes started to stream down his face silently. “Not you-” he pointed one long clawed finger at his father and mother and the blood from the cuts in his palm splattered at their feet. “-Not the people who ruined whatever chance we could have had together.”
“Oh, Yoongi…” Empress Min’s own eyes started to burn with tears and she squeezed her husband’s arm.
“She hates me…” Prince Yoongi’s voice broke into a watery whisper submerged in a never ending sea that waded between grief and self loathing. “A-and I love her still."
Empress Min pushed her husband from in front of her and rushed down the steps. She threw her arms around the Prince’s shoulders and pulled him into a tight hug. Prince Yoongi stood frozen as the tears from his mother soaked into his kimono and damped his skin. Emperor Min watched from the top of the steps as his wife fussed over their son, she cupped his face in her hands and pressed their foreheads together as she spoke.
“I wanted the feelings between you and the Princess to grow and form organically,” Empress Min admitted softly as she sniffled. “I never wanted to hurt either of you and for causing such damage, I am forever at fault.”
Slowly, the Prince raised his arms and hugged his mother gently, the blood on his hands stained her robes but she didn’t care as she allowed for her son to sob into her shoulder. Empress Min shushed the Prince and ran her hand through his hair as he cried. Emperor Min sighed and plopped down on the steps, he winced as his head started to pound and rubbed at his temples.
“She hates me,” the Prince mumbled into the Empress’ shoulder and she shook her head.
“No, no, my sweet hatchling. The Princess does not hate you…I am sure her anger is pointed at us as well as her own parents.” Empress Min pulled the Prince out at arms length and smiled softly. “Give her time and she will come to terms with it all, even just a little. The Princess is in a unfamiliar land for what she thought would be a short trip…and now-”
“She’ll feel trapped here, won’t see?” Prince Yoongi asked and pouted as the Empress wiped at his face with the sleeves of her robe. Again the Empress was reminded of the sweet child that would pull at the ends of her skirts and whine with chubby cheeks for sweets.
“If I remember correctly there was word that a seventh garden was added to the grounds and it had been completed.” The Emperor’s voice flouted from behind the Empress and the Prince nodded his head slowly. He understood what his father had meant and the Prince pulled away from Empress Min.
Prince Yoongi cleared his throat and picked up the silver hair pin from the floor. Empress Min took the pin and easily styled the Prince’s hair into a neat bun that sat in the middle of his head.
“Use the secret route, go back to your chambers and clean yourself up. You will join us for supper tonight.”
Prince Yoongi bowed to the Empress and cleared his throat, “Sorry for yelling at you both.”
Empress Min smiled and tapped the tip of the Prince’s nose with her index finger. “There is nothing to apologize for. Your feelings are valid and you were heard.”
Prince Yoongi bowed once more before he left and disappeared within the shadows.
In the morning after the audience with his parents, news of the Prince’s engagement to the Princess spread throughout the palace and was stopped at the palace gates. No one outside of the palace was permitted to know of the engagement until it was publicly announced for the safety of the Princess. In a subtle and silent protest to the engagement, the Princess refused to wear anything other than her boubou, dashiki, and kaftan. The colorful hanboks, hanfus, and kimonos were ignored and stored away out of the sight of the Princess. The gifts from the Prince were stored away in the chest they were received in and the night the Princess removed the golden rings from her fingers, she cried herself to sleep.
The Princess was to resume her lessons at once and she welcomed the distraction. The tutors were to come to the butterfly house and the Princess would let them occupy her time and mind with new and old knowledge. As the First Princess to the Min Empire, the lessons were altered to reflect Princess Keena’s new standing and title. The Princess ignored anyone who referred to her as the First Princess and she forbade the royal bloodline of the Min empire to enter the gates of her dwelling place. The Emperor and Empress allowed for the Princess to have her way and they kept it to themselves that the Princess had been moved outside of the palace into her own estate.
Empress Min knew that once Prince Yoongi was aware of the butterfly house, he would drop his princely duties and try to find a way into the home of the Princess.
Today was the first day that the Princess’ lessons would resume and Princess Keena was woken up early to eat and get ready for the day. Byulyi and Hyejin dressed the Princess in a pale orange buba made of linen with the matching pale orange iro - wrapped skirt - with soft red and yellow undertones mixed into the flowered embroidery. A cream colored lace pele that had tiny golden woven tassels that hung two inches off the hem pulled the Princess’ outfit together as the finishing touch.
Wheein was tasked with styling the Princess’ hair and she took her time as she braided six medium sized braids and then wrapped them into bantu knots in equal sections on the Princess’ head. She then added golden clips that dangled with orange tourmaline and amber jewels to the large knots. Princess Keena sat quietly as Wheein and Hyejin poked thick golden jhumka - bell shaped with suspended beads that jingle - earrings into her lobes and paired the earrings with layered gold necklaces in different lengths and thickness. Thick gold rings with rutilated quartz, green amethyst, and scales made of diamond adored the Princess’ fingers, the index finger on her right hand remained bare while beaded and golden chain cuffed bracelets hugged her wrists.
Yongsun soon appeared with the Princess’ meal in tow behind her and she watched as other maids set small trays down on the table. The meal was plentiful. Rice porridge, red bean sweet cakes, a fruit medley, fried tofu, sausage links and meat dumplings with a cucumber salad and pickled bean sprouts on the side. While the Princess ate her breakfast, Yongsun made sure that the lesson room was properly prepared for each tutor. The room itself was decorated in calm and soft colors that were meant to provoke the feelings of trust and security. Beige, light grey and cream tones filled the room while dark wooden furniture added to the depth.
A settee was pushed up against the farthest wall, a large oversized persian rug rested on the floor while two chabudai tables sat low on the floor with pale yellow zabuton cushions around them. Four prairie style chandeliers hung from the ceiling with sunstones inside that casted the room on a warm yellow glow while tulips in the early shades of dawn rested in beautifully decorated vases in the corners of the room.
Outside of the Princess’ room, Mingi stood at attention as he waited patiently for the Princess to start her lessons. Aga had to train the troops and he gave Mingi the task of watching over the Princess in his absence while Minho patrolled the outer perimeter of the home. Jooheon stood at the main gate with a new guard, Kai, by his side. Kai was a descendant of the great dire wolves, a halfling with short green hair, cropped close on the sides, rose red eyes, tan skin and a teasing smile that often showed his silver fangs.
Chan showed two more new guards, Wonho and San, around the inner walls of the butterfly house. Wonho was a halfling born of a mountain dwarf and came with his younger cousin Jooheon to the Min Empire at a young age. He had short black hair that hung in front of pale green eyes, pale skin covered his large muscular body and his smile was charming and wide. San was a kitsune with unique hair, it was all back with snow white bangs that contrasted his honey calcite eyes. His features were fox like and sharp, his skin was warmer than most in the Min Empire and his smile was surprisingly childlike.
The new guards were strong, competent and held a lot of promise for protecting the Princess. Aga and Hoseok spent time together and handpicked the new guards to ensure that the Princess would be protected at all times, no matter the situation.
A familiar figure stood by the front gates of the butterfly house and Jooheon watched as Kai questioned the tutor, excessively. Jooheon stepped in and pulled Kai to his side and he bowed his head to the tutor. “Welcome to the butterfly house, Lady Zarrin.”
Inside of the butterfly house, Mingi led the Princess to the tutoring room and he entered the room first, his green eyes gleamed as he searched for any hidden threat. The Princess entered silently behind him and was surprised to see that Zarrin was already in the room. At the sight of the Princess, Zarrin rose to her feet and bowed deeply, the brown and yellow two piece trouser outfit that she wore covered almost every inch of her skin, with a soft crew neckline to the tunic. The contrast in colors was stark against her grey skin and the Princess wondered if Zarrin cared at all.
“Good morning to you, Your Highness. I hope you slept well last night.”
“Good morning to you, Zarrin. I slept well, thank you.”
Zarrin smiled her sharp toothed grin and motioned for the Princess to take a seat across from her.
“Today I thought we would pick up from where we left off but first I would like to see what you remember and answer any questions that you might have.”
The Princess nodded her head and swept up her skirt before she lowered herself onto the floor across from Zarrin. Mingi rested against the wall and kept his eyes trained on the door and windows in the room. Princess Keena and Zarrin went back and forth during the lesson and their time together passed in the blink of an eye. Mingi watched as Wen entered the room next in a colorful hanfu with bright yellows, bold blues and radiant reds. His snow white hair was blinding as he greeted the Princess with a low bow and sat across from her. His robes fluttered around him as Wen spoke with his hands, his red nails glimmered in the natural light that spilled into the room.
The Princess was having a small break in between her next lesson and she stood up to stretch her legs. She stood by the window and bowed her head when Chan walked passed with two unknown faces beside him. Princess Keena turned her attention to Mingi and waved him over. “Who are the men with Chan? I’ve never seen them before.”
Mingi glanced at the two men that were following Chan and he tried to recall their names. “Aga thought it best to increase our security. We now have eight guards, including myself and two more will join us at a later time. They are currently outside of the palace walls,” Mingi explained as he watched the two men disappear farther out of sight.
“The man with the bulging muscles is Wonho, he is a halfling born from a human and mountain dwarf. He is also the older cousin of Jooheon. The other man is San, he is a kitsune.”
Princess Keena’s head whipped around to face Mingi and she stared at him with wide eyes, “A kitsune? I-I thought they were a tribe in the southeast that never left their land.”
Mingi frowned and hummed in agreement, the Princess wasn’t wrong. “San’s parents gave him away when he was a child. They wanted him to have a better life and it was forbidden to leave the village. A group of traveling merchants passed through the village and his parents snuck him in the caravan.”
Princess Keena bit the inside of her cheek and watched as San’s black hair vanished from view as he turned a corner. She wondered how he ended up here in the Min empire as a royal guard and if he missed his family. Was he tricked into joining the travelers like she was tricked into coming to the palace?
“Mingi?”
“Yes, your Highness?”
“Do you think he feels lonely?”
The question hung in the air between them and Mingi crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned against the window frame. Princess Keena looked away to stare out the window and watched as a small white butterfly landed on one of the snapdragons outside.
“Do you feel lonely?” Mingi watched as the Princess’ shoulders tensed at his question and her jaw clenched as she wrapped her arms around her chest to hug herself.
"Pi bon poukont ou pase nan move konpayi." Princess Keena mumbled under her breath and slowly uncrossed her arms with a tight smile. She patted Mingi’s chest and walked over to the chabudai table without a second glance as she sat down. “Who would feel lonely with you by their side?”
Mingi raised an eyebrow and before he could respond, there was a soft knock at the door and in walked the human and elf couple, Kwangseon and Ellarian with bright smiles on their faces as they bowed low to the Princess.
“You look as beautiful as ever, Princess Keena!” Kwangseon pulled his instruments into the room as he spoke and Princess Keena smiled as she bowed her head.
“Thank you for coming today. I apologize for the change of location,” Princess Keena spoke as the couple started to set up the instruments.
Ellarian waved off the Princess’ words and shook her head. “Nonsense, your Highness. Your safety is of the utmost importance. Besides, this one-” Ellarian jabbed her thumb over her shoulder at her husband. “-could use a few extra steps in his day to day routine.”
Kwangseon swatted at his wife and the Princess giggled behind her hand as she watched the couple playfully bicker with each other. Mingi moved to take his post back against the wall and Kwangseon stopped him.
“Hey, no! You are going to help us.” Kwangseon sat on the floor and pulled a drum into his lap. “Can you foxtrot?”
Mingi stared at the short and stocky man with wide eyes. He wanted him to dance with the Princess? What was a foxtrot? Mingi must have looked like a deer caught in a hunter’s trap because Ellarian shook her head with a laugh and offered her hand to the Princess. “Ignore my husband. He forgets that not everyone in the palace is skilled in dance like me.”
Princess Keena got to her feet and Ellarian instructed her to hold onto the ends of her skirt with one hand. “This will keep your feet visible and the movement of the skirt will add flare to the dance steps. Now…”
Princess Keena followed Ellarian’s instructions and the lesson went on for a little over an hour. The couple gave the Princess music to study before they departed for the day. Princess Keena graciously accepted the tea that Hyejin carried in and she whispered with Mingi to learn how the Princess’ lessons were going. The Princess excused herself from the room and Hyejin led her to the restroom. Alone in the room, the Princess washed her hands once she was finished and stared at her reflection in the large mirror that hung on the wall. The smile on her face was tight and forced, but still pleasant enough to not have anyone questioning her state of mind.
Once the Princess stepped back out into the hall, she followed Hyejin to the lesson room and thanked the woman before she stepped back inside. Mingi bowed his head and the Princess sat down at the chabudai once again.
“What is my next lesson, Mingi?”
“You will meet the last three of your tutors today. History is next and his Majesty has requested one of the finest to tutor you.”
The Princess nodded her head and fiddled with her earrings as she waited for the next person to enter the room. When the door slid open, Princess Keena rose to her feet before she turned around with another practiced smile on her face. Princess Keena stared unblinking as a rather large tortoise walked into the room on two thick, stocky and heavily scaled legs. The tortoise stood well over six feet, the Princess thought he was at least seven or so feet. His tawny colored skin looked rough and he was covered by a simple forest green tunic that wrapped around one of his large shoulders.
His eyes were a deep green with flecks of blue and gold; it reminded the Princess of a hidden oasis in the middle of a forest.
Princess Keena bowed her head and the tortoise spoke, his voice deep and brittle with his age, “I am Tempus, druid of the Wonnip tribe from a time long forgotten. It is an honor to assist one of the great impundulu.”
Princess Keena crossed her arms over her chest and gave Tempus a proper Escistan greeting to which the great tortoise made a happy grumble in the back of his throat.
“Please, have a seat, your Highness. I would like to learn what you know of the Min empire’s history. Once I have a gauge of your knowledge, we will move accordingly as I see best.” Tempus walked across the room and sat across from the Princess. His large form towered over the Princess and his eyes glimmered in the lighting of the room. “I believe that history is a story best told when its linear timeline is parallel to ours.”
Tempus waved one of his large webbed hands and a green orb started to form. As it grew in size, the Princess watched with bated breath to see what the orb would hold inside. The orb started to harden and rested in Tempus’ hand, clear as crystal and no larger than a honeydew melon.
“This-” Tempus lowered the orb onto the table between them and it rolled towards the Princess, “is nothing more than crystallized moisture from the air around us. As you can see, it is clear with no traces of impurities.”
Princess Keena reaches out and touches the orb, it is colder than she thought it would be but smooth and slightly heavy as she picks it up.
“History is what people make of it. No two tellings will be the same, much like the orb you hold in your hand. I can make it again but it will be slightly different, maybe not as large or not as clear.”
“How can one teach history if there are two sides to every story?” Princess Keena quipped as she placed the orb back onto the table.
Tempus laughed and bobbed his head up and down as he grinned, all gums and not teeth. “Exactly! That is what makes history so fascinating!” Tempus crossed his arms over his hardened chest and his eyes sparkled as he stared at the Princess. “What I will teach you is everything I have gathered from across the world. I have heard and seen many, many events of the past and yet, history continues to repeat itself. The world continues to grow and move backwards simultaneously.”
The Princess’ eyes flash a murky silver and Tempus closes his eyes with a deep hum. “Tell me, your Highness…what do you know about your own history? The story of the lighting birds?”
“The impundulu was around long before humans came to be. They lived in harmony with dragons in the sky and gave those on land the water that maintained their crops in times of need.”
“What else?” Tempus slowly opened his eyes and tilted his head to the side as he stared down at the Princess. “Do not quote the scribbles of man that you read from a book. What has the spirit inside shared with you?”
“The spirit? Ceyeh has not shared much with me.”
Tempus uncrossed his arms and stood from his seat. The Princess watched as the tortoise moved around the room and grabbed a few books and scrolls from a set of shelves on the wall.
“You have much to learn my dear.”
Princess Keena listened to every word that Tempus spoke, she wrote down subjects, stories and words that she did not understand fully and eagerly asked questions. Tempus took his time as he introduced the Min empire to the Princess. Their history was vast and went back thousands of years in the past. Soon Tempus started to clean up and the Princess was ready for her next lesson.
After Tempus left the room, Mingi announced that it was time for the Princess to have lunch and she chose to have her meal outside in the courtyard. A soup with tandoori momos, dan dan noodles, hard boiled eggs, mushrooms, leeks, cabbage and a curry coconut broth was the main dish with kimchi, sauteed green beans and tuna poke on the side. An individual portion of flan with fresh raspberries and cream was for dessert and it made the Princess smile. Flan was dessert from Escistan that she did not know she had missed.
The weather was beautiful, the sun shined brightly in the ocean blue sky and thick white clouds passed by slowly. Princess Keena sat alone while Mingi and Byulyi both stood a reasonable distance away. The Princess watched as four butterflies made themselves comfortable on the flowers around her and she inhaled deeply. The floral scent was strong but not overpowering, the Princess enjoyed the mixture of sweetness that settled in her chest.
Princess Keena enjoyed her meal in silence as she allowed for her thoughts to run away from her. Tempus’ words as well as Zarrin from their first lesson swirled in the Princess’ mind and she stared into the pool of water before her. What was her history? Why did it seem like such an important thing to know? History repeats itself, the good and the bad and the Princess wondered if maybe, just maybe Ceyeh had been placed in the same kind of situation before in a different lifetime.
“Beautiful weather today.”
Princess Keena turned her head at the sound of the voice and was overwhelmed by the green, pink and cream hanfu that Saina wore. The colors were vibrant and stood out against her warm skin tone that glowed with its own natural pink hue. Saina grinned at the Princess and bowed low before she spoke up once more, “Good day to you, your Highness.”
“Have you enjoyed the weather so far, Lady Saina?” The Princess asked as she gave her tutor her full attention. Byulyi quickly cleared the table in front of the Princess and Mingi moved to hold a parasol over the Princess’ head but she waved him off.
Saina’s large galaxy eyes shined brightly and she nodded her head, which sent her pink hair flying about her head. Today Saina wore her hair in twin ponytails on either side of her head with a few strands braided together with beads of pewter green and grey woven in. Princess Keena rose to her feet and motioned for Saina to join her as she walked back to the house. Inside the butterfly home, Saina followed the Princess and Mingi to the room where lessons were to be held and she settled into her new role as tutor to the first Princess easily.
Saina was hired to teach civics, the rights and duties of citizenship; which was broken down into the many structures of the government and the procedures within those structures. The Princess took many notes and asked questions because she knew nothing of the Min empire. Saina was pleased with the Princess’ questions, it helped Saina plan for the next day and figure out what she wanted to incorporate into her lessons so that the Princess could reach her full potential.
“Your Highness, may I ask a personal question?”
Princess Keena looked up from the notes in front of her and Saina had a soft smile on her pretty face. Her eyes weren’t guarded and held no ill will towards Princess Keena, so she nodded her head and folded her hands on the table.
“I noticed that you are not wearing rings on your right index finger.”
Princess Keena pulled her hands into her lap and thumbed at the bare skin before she offered Saina a tight smile.
“You have keen eyes, Lady Saina. The rings I once wore were a gift and I do not believe it appropriate for me to continue to wear them at this time.”
Saina frowned at the Princess’ words and folded her hands on top of the table. “Your Highness…I cannot begin to imagine the war your heart is battling with your mind, however in times of uncertainty it is best to surround yourself with the things that bring you the most joy and peace of mind.”
Princess Keena pursed her lips and swallowed down the pungent words that threatened to do more harm than good. They stuck to the walls of the throat heavy and rough as she tried to speak. “Well-” the Princess cleared her throat lightly and licked her lips, “what does one do when the things that once brought joy and peace are what caused the pain?” Princess Keena raised her eyes and looked Saina straight on, a thin silver ring glowed around her brown eyes.
“Let them bring joy and peace once more.”
Saina bowed and rose to her feet before she left the room silently and Princess Keena sucked her teeth before she tapped at the bare skin of her index finger.
“I would be a fool to allow the Prince such grace after all of his lies,” the Princess grumbled to herself and looked over her shoulder at Mingi. “Please have them bring green tea, my throat is sore.”
Mingi stepped out of the room for a moment and Princess Keena inhaled deeply, the sweet scents of the flowers outside the window filled her senses and she sighed on exhale. Forgive the Prince so easily? Accept his hand in marriage and then what? The Princess shook her head and folded her legs underneath her skirt more tightly.
"Mwen ta yon moun sòt padonnen l '." Princess Keena tapped her fingers on the table top and rolled her tongue inside of her mouth. Bitter, every inner thought tasted bitter and she wanted to spit them out. Silently, the Princess hoped that the tea would wash the taste away or at least mask it for now.

Oh oh rose quartz, rose and champagne for Leo and Jooheon
-mino
rose quartz— what’s your love language (romantic or platonic)?
✨: Mine is quality time, nothing better to me then spending time with my loves~
🎐: I love physical touch, cuddles, kisses, hugs, give me all of them!
rose— do you believe in soulmates? why or why not?
✨: I do, I think it’s just a fate thing and I believe in fate. Fate brings you to your soulmate so how can I not believe in soulmates?
🎐: I’m more iffy on soulmates, I don’t really know if I believe in them or don’t. I haven’t thought about it.
champagne— what’s your favorite form of physical affection, if any at all?
✨: Since I’m not really one for physical touch it would be hand holding
🎐: I love cuddles they’re the best thing, especially naked~

2014 October 4th - Jooheon's 19th Birthday (YN POV)
Jooheon invites you to his birthday
Unlike CK, you two had become close since his best friend had stopped talking to you altogether
Jiyeon and you had become best friends
It had taken a lot of months for you to agree to meet her
Almost the same amount of time for Jiyeon to believe that he hadn’t been cheating on her with you
When you two had met, it was like Jiyeon and you had been soulmates in another life because you two just got each other
Maybe he was dating you both now
It was hard to know where Jiyeon started and you ended
Jiyeon had been the only reason you had agreed to come to his birthday party
Changkyun being there with Sara, his gf of two years now, had been hard on you
Sara didn’t like you and she didn’t mind telling everyone how much she didn’t
Every time she got mad or tried to start something, CK had stopped defending you or even her for that matter
It was like he had wiped his hands of the whole situation
Jiyeon wasn’t a pushover like CK
She didn’t care if her ex-best friend had a bomb pussy - which is what she assumed was holding CK back from calling out his own gf
She would and had fought her once good friend on multiple occasions for you
So,,, tensions were high
Jiyeon stays by you, pulling you to dance with Jooheon and her every time so you don’t have to be alone and keeping her eyes on CK and Sara
In a free moment, Changkyun finds you in the kitchen of Jooheon’s parent’s house while you pour a round of beer for you, Jiyeon and Jooheon
I’m sorry about sara
You only glance at him
Come on, yn, please don’t look at me like that
Like what?
Like you’ve given up on me
I cannot give up on something that I never had, excuse me
He follows you out of the kitchen, but Sara stops him from following you - having magically reappeared
You leave the party after that, even though Jiyeon begs you to stay
Jooheon promises to pummel his best friend for you, but you decline and leave anyways
Changkyun texts you just as you lock yourself away inside your house
Did you leave?
Wow, you remember my number
Can we please talk? I’m sorry for being a jerk before
I should have stopped her from bad mouthing you
Don’t worry about me, Kyun
I can take care of myself
Just pay attention to your gf and lose my number
We’re fine
We’re not fine, yn! Please talk to me

thank you sooooo much for replying 💗💗💗💗 can you do our favorite rapline? Joohoney and Kyuunie. Thank you so much. 💗💗
You're very welcome, moonbeam! I did Jooheon's for this reading 💜
Date read and posted: August 28th, 2020
*DISCLAIMER: readings concerning kpop/celebrities/musicians/YouTubers are just for fun and hold no fact.*
What can you tell us about them?
Queen Of Wands, The Heirophant, The Sun, 3 Of Pentacles
They're a very bright person, not just like a positive person but someone who has quick wits and endless knowledge. They could be already married at the time of this reading. Or it's possible they just are very stable in their life at the moment, but I really feel they're married already. Their overall energy is really positive, they look to the good things in situations. Someone or something is currently making them reassess their situation and relationship. They're trying to hold onto the good things, but it's hard when the bad keeps showing itself.
Why does Jooheon like them?
4 Of Wands, Knight Of Swords, Wheel Of Fortune, Queen Of Pentacles and Page Of Cups for bottom deck energy
He really loves that their so close to family, they bring him home vibes. Like, he looks at them and sees family, a life with them. Jooheon also loves that they're a hypeman for him. Whatever he's doing or supporting or trying, they're always there with a positive response for him. They support him fully and do everything to really show that. Jooheon sees them as a good luck charm, always adding positive energy and happiness to an already happy situation or to one that needs the positivity. He also sees them as a fated relationship, like he knows they were meant for him and him only. He sees them as a boss ass biss, someone hard working and doesn't take less than they deserve from anything or anyone. Overall he really loves their positive energy and appreciates it every day.
What do they look like?
Co-Create, Breathe, Orphaned, Time For A Nap and Imagine for bottom deck energy
Their style is very serious, very elegant but with a quirky, creative tinge that makes it theirs. For an example, they could wear a pantsuit but pair it with Alice in wonderland themed accessories and style their hair in two high braids. That was very specific but you get what I'm trying to say 😅 I'm seeing long hair and tanned skin. In previous readings it was always tan skin or light skinned poc, but this is definitive tanned skin. This is someone who really enjoys being in the sun or was born with higher traces of melanin in their skin. Their hair color is a strong black or auburn brown and eyes are brown or green with hints of hazel. I'm seeing a lot of blue and water imagery, so they might be a water sun, moon or rising.
How are they together?
Leap, Deep Replenishment, Get Grounded, Birthing A New Age and Take A Break as bottom deck energy
They make him take risks he normally wouldn't take alone. That trip he's been planning, they push him to take it. The song he's not sure about releasing yet? They help him plan it's release date. They help him take these chances that are usually stressful to him. They both are very grounded together and heal their inner wounds. The time they spend together is healing and very relaxing, they become appreciative of everything they have and built while together. Their energy together is so unique and they look so out of place together, that the way they look together helps normalize opposites in relationships within Korea. But overall, they both remind each other that their body needs breaks too. As much as their work is important, they need the breaks and they stress that to each other so they aren't overworked and overwhelmed. Bless you sweet soul, he works too hard TT-TT

Monsta X & Their Soulmates
Taurus Juno 🌹 Shownu
Taurus is an earth sign, so Shownu's soulmate is definitely very stable and grounded. They are slow-moving and patient, but can get a bit stubborn at times. Taurus in Juno describes a soulmate who loves romance, pleasures of all senses and luxury, so their ideal date is most likely a dinner at an expensive restaurants with amazing food haha. This person will make Shownu feel grounded and help him find stability in life!
Cancer Juno 🌹 Wonho
Wonho having Cancer Juno makes sooo much sense. Since he is quite emotional, sensitive and caring himself, his soulmate is just like that as well! Wonho's ideal partner could be described as motherly, affectionate, nurturing and compassionate. They definitely love kids and are very family oriented.
Libra Juno 🌹 Minhyuk, Kihyun & Hyungwon
These guys are into social and outgoing people. Libra is a sign which represents balance and harmony. It is also ruled by Venus, so these people are naturally romantic in the most cliche, traditional way haha. Kihyun, Minhyuk and Hyungwon's soulmates could be described as diplomatic, kind, gentle and affectionate!
Scorpio Juno 🌹 Jooheon
Scorpio is a sign known for being intense, possessive and passionate. Joohoney craves intimacy and deep relationships! His soulmate most likely has a mysterious and intense energy around them, which draws people in. They are fiercely loyal, sensual and trustworthy, but they could also get a bit jealous at times. Jooheon's relationship with his soulmate will definitely transform him a lot, since Scorpio is a sign which rules transformation and changes.
Aquarius Juno 🌹 Changkyun
Changkyun is an Aquarius sun, so his soulmate is probably very similar to him! Aquarius is super unique and rebellious. They do what they want and don't cater to other people's opinions. Changkyun is such a good example of an Aquarius! His soulmate is someone very independent, intelligent and basically a person who is confident in themself and values their freedom. Changkyun doesn't want his life partner to be just a lover, but also his best friend!

As things in the palace started to change, the Prince noticed that he had not seen any of the Princess’ handmaidens, nor had he heard any whispers of the Princess’ wellbeing. It worried him and caused a knot to form in his stomach that grew larger and larger each day that he did not see or speak to the Princess.
During one of his breaks, the Prince managed to sneak out from under Hoseok’s watchful eyes and hurried to the Princess’ chambers. If she refused to talk to him or turned him away, the Prince was fine with that. He just had to make sure that the Princess was okay, that she was still within arms reach. The deep grey of the Prince’s robe caught the attention of the guards that were patrolling the hallways and the Prince paid them no mind. As he reached the Princess’ chambers, the Prince noticed that Jooheon and Chan were not posted at the door. Instead there were two guards that the Prince did not recognize.
Upon seeing the Prince, the guards bowed and gold started to melt into the brown-black of his eyes. Prince Yoongi’s nails started to blacken and slowly went from dull to sharp as he glared at the unknown guards.
“Where are Chan and Jooheon?” The Prince’s words were forced, the sound warped as he tried to control the growl that sat in the base of his throat.
The blood in the guard’s faces rushed to their feet at the Prince’s question, and in the blink of an eye, Hoseok stood between the Prince and the guards. His eyes were a blazing fire and his skin was too hot to touch, faint traces of smoke rising from under his black robes as he clicked his tongue at the Prince.
“Why don’t we step away, yes?” Hoseok jerked his head in the direction that he wanted the Prince to walk and he flashed a wide smile at the guards. “Keep up the good work!”
Hoseok turned his attention back to the Prince who had stalked off in another direction and he hurried to his side. As they turned the corner, Prince Yoongi grabbed Hoseok by the shoulders and slammed him into the wall. Dark smoke spilled from his mouth as he breathed heavily and his eyes were narrowed as his face twisted into a scowl.
“Oh, give the fireworks a rest!” Hoseok hissed and pushed at the Prince’s chest to put distance between them. “The Princess is fine, no need for theatrics.”
“Where. Is. She.”
“Safe…” Hoseok sighed and ran and hand through his hair and the Prince flashed his fangs. “In light of Agust’s appearance, your parents thought it best to put some distance between the two of you.”
“They threw her out of the palace?” The Prince staggered back at Hoseok's words and Hoseok stared at him with wide eyes.
“What? No, no. Stop it, you misunderstand my words.” Hoseok pushed himself off the wall and placed a hand on the Prince’s shoulder. “The Princess is still within the palace walls and she is safe. Now that we all know the Princess is to be yours, we’ve added protection for the sake of the First Princess.”
“Where is she?” The Prince rolled his shoulder to knock Hoseok’s hand off and looked up and down the hall. “Where have my parents moved the Princess?”
“I do not think it wise for you to know her location at this time, your Highness…” Hoseok saw the way Prince Yoongi’s face pinched before it fell into nothing. “I-I am sorry, Yoongi, but I agree with your parents. It is for both your interests that you stay away from each other for a little while.”
Prince Yoongi’s shoulders dropped and he balled his hands into fists. The black claws were gone and the fangs had ebbed away; all that was left was a faint ring of gold around his irises. The Prince stepped away from Hoseok and scratched at the scales on his jawline as he pouted.
“Yoongi?”
The Prince cleared his throat and swallowed past the overwhelming fear that refused to leave. It was an unfamiliar feeling. The Prince was not not used to being told no or having his demands ignored. Not that the Prince asked for much to begin with. Prince Yoongi cleared his throat for a second time and smoothed his hand over his robes. The golden four-toed dragon that was embroidered in the center glittered in the dim light.
“Give Seokjin my apologies, I am feeling unwell and will retire to my chambers.”
Hoseok stopped a guard that was walking by and assigned him to be the Prince’s guard on the way back to his chambers. Hoseok bowed low as the Prince turned and walked away without another word spoken. Hoseok ran his tongue over his teeth, climbed out the nearest window, and scaled the side of the palace until he sat on the roof. He lifted his fingers to his mouth and whistled into the air. A few moments later, a large black eagle flew his way and landed on Hoseok’s outstretched arm.
“The Prince has learned of the Princess’ new accommodations and he is on edge. I implore your Majesty, grant his Highness access to the Princess…even for a moment.”
Hoseok raised his arm and sent the eagle off before he looked over the courtyard of the palace. From the rooftop, Hoseok could see everything. He saw all six gardens, and when he turned to face the seventh garden, Hoseok bit his lip in thought. If the Emperor and Empress would not grant the Prince access to the Princess, he would have to take matters into his own hands.
The Emperor and Empress sat in their chambers across from each other as they looked through multiple hand painted scrolls from various renowned artisans for a wedding gift fit for the First Princess. The Emperor thought a handcrafted hair ornament would be perfect with a custom hanfu. The Empress thought the idea was good but she knew they could do better. Jewelry was nice as well as clothing, but the Empress knew the Princess deserved more than nice. As she set aside another scroll, there was a knock at the door and the Emperor huffed as he threw the scroll in his hand to the table.
“Come in!” The Emperor shouted, annoyed by the brief interruption. He looked away from the never ending pile of scrolls and watched as the Empress’ bird handler, Feno walked in with Ussik on her arm.
“What news do you bring, Feno?” The Emperor questioned as he eyed the large black eagle with weary eyes.
Feno bowed to the Emperor before she turned her attention to the Empress. “Lieutenant Jung sent a message about His Highness.”
The Empress’ face twisted into a frown as she held her hand out for the message and she read over it quietly while the Emperor waited across from her. Empress Min clicked her tongue and went to wave Feno away but she stopped for a moment.
“How is Ussik? Has she been well?”
“Lieutenant Jung has not requested any strenuous duty from her, so Ussik is happy and content for now.” Feno scratched beneath the bird’s beak and grinned.
The Empress smiled and nodded her head before she dismissed Feno and Ussik. Emperor Min waited until the door was closed until he crossed his arms over his chest with a grumble.
“I swear that bird is plotting my demise.”
Empress Min laughed and tapped her nails on the table top. “Ussik is a highly intelligent aves. She would never hurt you, my heart.”
“What news has Hosoek given us?” The Emperor changed the subject and Empress Min giggled before she cleared her throat.
“It seems we have less time to let the young ones adjust to the news of their engagement. Our dear hatchling has found out that the Princess is no longer within our walls.”
Emperor Min’s eyes widened and he groaned as he started to rub his temples. “How much of the palace has been reduced to rubble?”
“Have faith in Hoseok, my heart. He was able to stop Yoongi from causing any major damage and saved two guards while doing so.”
“Was it our son or Agust?”
“Agust was below the surface much like he was when Yoongi requested an audience with us.”
Emperor Min hissed low in the throat and clenched his fists. “What else did Hoseok report?”
“Hoseok is requesting that we allow them to meet.”
“Do you think that wise, dearheart?”
Empress Min pressed her lips into a thin line and thought over the different outcomes of the Prince and the Princess meeting so soon after the announcement. Did they really have much choice in the matter? The young royals would have had to see each other no matter what. Maybe if it felt like they were in control, things would turn out for the best? There were two unknown factors at play, Agust and Ceyeh. While the Empress remembered her dear friend, she did not fully know what happened between Ceyeh and Agust all those centuries ago.
“Soulmates are rare and I wish nothing more than to grant them a new time to foster their love, however-”
Empress Min rose to her feet suddenly and exclaimed in joy, “Love birds!”
“P-Pardon?” Emperor Min stared at his wife confused and she started to ramble happily.
“We will give the Princess a pair of love birds, it is the perfect gift to remind Ceyeh of what was and to help the Princess realize what could be in the future.”
The Empress’ eyes were sparkling as she spoke and Emperor Min found himself wholeheartedly endeared by his wife’s enthusiasm.
“Love birds, you say?” The Emperor tried to recall what he knew of the bird and he couldn’t find fault in the Empress’ logic. Since the Princess had a bird spirit inside of her, she would form a connection with the bird faster and maybe she wouldn’t feel so alone. Or, seeing the two birds happy together would push her into the arms of the Prince. “Very well, we shall grant the Princess the best pair of love birds.”
“As a handler, I am sure Feno is the most knowledgeable on the subject.” Empress Min looked towards the door and grinned, her forked tongue peaked out. “Call for Feno, we will discuss everything with her!”
“Eunkyung, now wait for just a moment.” Emperor Min stood to his feet and gently grabbed his wife’s wrists in his hands. “I understand your excitement but we still have other matters to discuss that can no longer be ignored.”
The glittering light in the Empress’ eyes started to dim and Emperor Min frowned. “Dearheart…will we allow for the Prince and Princess to meet once again?”
“We have created a rift between the two, it would be best to let them fix it in time-”
“Time is not on our side, dearheart.”
Empress Min nodded her head with a sigh. “Do we know anything about the seventh garden? What has Yoongi chosen to give the Princess?”
“That is something that even I do not know.”
“Very well.” Empress Min stepped into the Emperor’s arms and rested her forehead against his chest. “We allow for them to meet on our terms without either of them knowing we were involved.”
“A wise decision.”
Empress Min hissed playfully under her breath and Emperor Min kissed the top of her head. “I will send word to Hoseok and Aga once we figure out what the best course of action would be or would you prefer to have them both involved?”
The Princess’ lessons went by without any issues. She struggled with a few dance steps and her penmanship needed work, but overall her tutors were pleased. Nine days had passed since the Prince found out that the Princess was no longer within the palace but still on the grounds. Prince Yoongi spent his time at the training ground with Aga or by himself at the lotus pond where the lemming ducklings cuddled into his lap. It was a bittersweet memory that hung around the pound like a ghost that refused to pass on, but it was a memory that the Prince cherished nonetheless.
The weather as of late had been better. The dark storm clouds and heavy rain were gone, replaced with radiant sun rays and peaceful skies. He would not admit it out loud, but it hurt the Prince’s heart to think that the Princess was doing well without him by her side. Had their friendship meant so little? Was he nothing but a way to pass the time?
Outside, the Prince stood at the edge of the lotus pond. The lemming ducklings were away with their mother and the air was sweet with floral scents. His blond hair was pulled high on top of his head, not a single hair out of place as it was pinned in place with an intricate golden donggot; a dragon with ruby eyes and pink crystal cherry blossoms clutched in its mouth was carved at the end. Three small and simple golden hoops clung to the Prince’s ears while a single earring hung from his left lobe, five emerald teardrops set in gold.
He wore a white yi - cross collared robe - underneath a black robe that had a thin, pale green strip on the hemming of the collar with a pale green and black ombre pleated skirt that fell past his feet with a bamboo pattern at the bottom. A black, silk asymmetrical robe was worn over everything to complete the hanfu. A golden four-toed-dragon was embroidered on the lower center of the robe on the back with wisps of golden smoke that spread all over the robe onto the wide sleeves and around the waist. Prince Yoongi’s black shoes were covered by his skirt but whenever he took a step the dull toe of his shoes would show.
A small, rectangle shaped box covered in a beautiful mother of pearl dragon on the lid was tucked under the Prince’s arm as he plopped himself onto the ground. Hoseok stood in the distance, his black robes replaced with slate blue and grey fabric that created a seamless blend between soft and rugged. He kept his eyes trained on the Prince but kept his distance. He knew the Prince needed time to himself.
The Prince lifted the lid of the box and the sweet scent of honey and tangerines assaulted his nose. The Prince’s eyes fluttered shut as he breathed in the scent that brought him such comfort, and when he opened his eyes, his heart squeezed painfully in his chest. Inside the box were the letters that the Princess had sent him over the years, neatly folded and kept safe. The folds were a little worn from the amount of time that the Prince had unfolded and folded the pieces of paper, but the scent and thoughts of the Princess were still there intact.
Carefully, the Prince plucked a letter from the box and slowly unfolded it in his hands. His eyes darted over the paper as he silently read the written words of the Princess and he smiled, a gesture that didn’t reach his eyes and looked too heavy for his face to hold.
My Prince,
I am counting down the days until we can finally meet. I pray that you won’t regret befriending me after all this time. The palace is so alive; my trip to your nation is on the lips of every person. Mother is worried about sending me alone., I overheard her speaking with Father about granting me my very own guard. I hope it isn’t Dingani, Father’s most trusted warrior. I have never seen that man smile and he scares me.
I will admit it only to you, my prince. I hope to be by your side for a long time as we lead our nation's side-by-side together. What luck has blessed my family to be considered allies to the Min Empire? May many tales be shared of our victories and joys. May the ever-bright sun continue to bathe you in its golden hues.
Well wishes, your friend,
Princess Keena
In the room for the Princess’ lessons, Mingi stepped away from the wall and rolled his shoulders. “Your Highness, would you like to have lunch in or outdoors today? The weather is pleasant enough if you would like to sit by the water.”
Princess Keena rose to her feet and dusted off her pale green, grey and cream striped iro. The solid cream blouse wasn’t too wrinkled from the last lesson and the Princess smiled. “I did not see any water outside of the pond in the courtyard.”
Mingi grinned and offered his arm. “We are not very far from the main koi pond and there is a gazebo by it as well.”
“It is outside of these walls.” The Princess chewed on the inside of her cheek as she looked down at her grey colored shoes. The loose braids that hung from her top bun fell in her face and Mingi stepped closer to her.
“I swear on my honor that I will not let a soul pass me nor speak to you unless you allow it.” Mingi’s words were sure and sound as he stared down at the Princess and she straightened her posture before she gave a single nod of her head; the golden hoops on her ears swung with the movement.
“On your honor?”
Mingi grinned and offered his hand again. “On my honor.”
Princess Keena clicked her tongue and placed her hand on Mingi’s wrist, the gold rings on her fingers cool against his bare skin. “Lead the way.”
Mingi led the Princess from the room and once they reached the front door of the butterfly house, the Princess hesitated. Mingi offered her a gentle smile and slid open the door. “Chan and Jooheon will come with us. You can count on us.”
The Princess thought of Chan with his blue hair and cold brown eyes that warmed the moment he smiled and of Jooheon with his bright orange hair and pale green eyes who didn’t speak much, but when he did he was cracking jokes. The Princess took in Mingi’s white and yellow hair, his striking green eyes and the twist of his mouth that hinted at the great unknown. These were the men that swore themselves to her, they were on the Princess’ side no matter what. Princess Keena inhaled deeply and stepped through the front door with her head held high.
The air was warm but not sweltering with the sweetness of flowers in the wind. Mingi and the Princess walked towards the main gate that led to the outside of the butterfly house and Princess Keena grabbed hold of Mingi’s arm.
“Open the gate!” Mingi called out and shortly after, the gates opened outward to reveal green, green and more green with a splatter of color thanks to different flowers that bloomed. Chan grinned when he saw the Princess and bowed his head. Jooheon bowed as well and cocked his head to the side.
“Finally going outside?”
“Jooheon!” Mingi and Chan both scolded the man and the Princess gave a shy nod of her head in response.
Jooheon’s smile softened and he noticed that Kai was still bowing. “Get up and say hello to her Highness.”
Kai rose to his full height and the Princess bowed her head before she offered the new guard a smile “Thank you for working so hard. It is deeply appreciated.”
Kai’s red eyes widened and he bowed again “It is an honor to guard you, Your Highness.”
Princess Keena smiled and looked at Mingi who had rolled his eyes playfully. “Chan. Have Wonho guard the gates with Kai. San will be fine with Minho doing patrol.” Mingi ordered and the men looked at him confused. Mingi clicked his tongue and ran a hand through his hair. “The two of you are coming with me to guard the Princess.”
“Where is Aga?” The Princess questioned once it dawned on her that Aga had not been mentioned at all.
“He should be finishing up with training. Would you prefer to wait for him before we leave?” Mingi looked at the Princess and she shook her head.
“No. I trust you and my lunch break is wasting away.”
Chan chuckled and stepped into the walls of the butterfly house. He whistled loudly and a few short moments later San, Wonho and Minho were all standing before him.
“The Princess is stepping out for some air. Wonho you are to guard the front gate with Kai while San and Minho continue their patrol.”
Minho opened his mouth to protest but the look that Mingi shot at him made Minho shut his mouth. Everyone moved into place and soon it was time for the Princess to step outside of the butterfly house’s walls.
“I am right beside you, Princess.” Mingi advised and the Princess carefully stepped over the threshold with Mingi’s help. Chan and Jooheon stood close together at the Princess’ back the moment she stepped outside and when she turned her head to ask them a question, Mingi was quick to direct the Princess’ attention to himself. “Why don’t we head to the water first, Princess? We can answer your questions once we get there.”
The group started to walk and as they put more and more space between themselves and the butterfly house, the Princess took in the outside world around her. Stone walkways were created in every direction so that no one would hurt themselves on uneven ground. White oak, snowbell, black locust and plum were a few of the trees that the Princess recognized as well as devilwood, daffodils and rhododendron flowers. The colors were brighter and seemingly grew brighter as the group of four approached a familiar landscape. Iris, daylilies, yarrow and cornflowers gave way to the great arches that led to the lotus pond in the Gildows lake.
The memory of her engagement to the Prince was fresh in her mind and the Princess started to pull away from Mingi. It was too much, too soon. She didn’t want to be reminded of how happy and content she was beside the Prince with the lemming ducklings moments before it was all ripped away.
“M-Mingi, I can’t-”
The scent of sage and ginger was faint as the soft breeze blew, intermingled with the fragrant floras around. Princess Keena inhaled with a gasp as she spotted a lone figure that stood near the edge of the lake.
“Go to him.” Mingi gave the Princess a light push away from his side and the Princess stumbled forward, her feet heavier than her weight in gold. Mingi, Chan and Jooheon blocked the path for the Princess to retreat and before she could lose her wits, the deep rumble of that all too familiar voice flouted into her ears.
“Princess…”
Princess Keena’s body locked up and her eyes refused to look anywhere but at the stoned pathway beneath her; she heard the subtle crunch of shoes as someone walked her way. A dark shadow covered her body as the bottom of a skirt came into the Princess’ line of sight. Still the Princess refused to look up.
“I-” Prince Yoongi cleared his throat and stared at the Princess unable to form a single sentence. What could he say to her? What would make her understand that he had no part in their engagement? What would make her look at him like she used to, again?
The Princess took a tentative step backwards and shook her head, “I-I need to leave.” She turned on her heels and made to run away but the Prince was faster; he had anticipated the Princess’ retreat.
Prince Yoongi’s arm reached out and he wrapped his hand around the Princess’ wrist with a gentle firmness. “Wait!”
The young royals stood still, the Princess with her back to the Prince, her wrist locked in his hold. Her heart pounded harshly in her chest and her eyes started to burn, the sky above darkened, a rolling grey into a black and the scent of rain was heavy in the air.
“Please, Princess. Please? D-Don’t go…don’t leave me again.”
A shaky sob slipped past the Princess’ lips and the Prince acted without a care for anyone around them. He pulled the Princess backwards and wrapped his arms around her. Green. Millions of shades of green. Earth and wood with a spicy floral note engulfed the Princess as soothing warmth spread through her back. Thunder rumbled overhead and the clouds opened a downpour of cold, icy rain.
“I didn’t know. I swear to the ones before me, I didn’t know!” Prince Yoongi’s voice was muffled as he buried his face into the crook of the Princess’ neck. His eyes were squeezed shut lightly and he inhaled the sweet citrus that offered a blinding light in his darkness. Honey and spice, a far away field with rich land and never ending rolling mountains of green and orange…safe. So warm and safe. Tears escaped past the Prince’s shut eyes and he cried silently as he held onto the Princess. His hands felt so big, wide and all encompassing as he held the Princess’ arms, afraid that if he let go she would disappear in the very storm she had created.
The rain fall soaked through their clothing but neither the Prince or Princess cared as they held onto each other. The Princess’ fingers dug into the skin of the Prince’s wrists. Her nails bit into the flesh and would leave marks well after she let go. If she ever let go. Hoseok appeared before Mingi, Chan and Jooheon silently. He ushered them farther away from the royal couple and the four of them stood in the rain, unsure of what to expect. Lightning struck and the young couple was illuminated in a pale silver glow, a halo of sorrow that maybe, just maybe they could hold onto and mold into a new hope.
The Princess’ legs gave out first and Prince Yoongi supported her weight as he lowered them onto the ground. He shifted the Princess and it was her turn to hide her face in the crook of his neck as she sobbed. Her hands fisted the sopping wet fabric of his robes and the Prince adjusted his hold, his hands now cupping the back of the Princess’ head and lower back, he held firm and tucked his nose into her temple.
Breath in.
Breath out.
Breath in.
Slowly, so very, very slowly, the Prince slid his hand from the back of the Princess’ head to where her neck and jaw meant. He pulled her face away from his neck and craned his face downward to catch her eyes, brown with hints of silver, much like his onyx with ripples of gold. Watery and wide eyes stared into the Prince’s face and his smile trembled as he rested his forehead against the Princess’.
“The moon is still here…with me?”
As more tears spilled down the Princess’ face, she slid her hands to rest on the sides of the Prince’s neck. Her thumb brushed against his ear lob and she breathed in the heady scent of a ginger garden drowned in rain.
“I am…I am here.”
Prince Yoongi’s eyes slipped closed and he leaned into the Princess’ touch as she wiped away the rain from his cheeks.
“I am here, my Prince.”
The Prince’s eyes opened and he cupped the Princess’ face between his hands, “Again. Say it again?” The Prince demanded softly as he wiped away the Princess’ tears with his own hands.
The rain started to lessen and the Princess nuzzled her face into the Prince’s hand.
“I am here-”
“No, no…the other thing.”
Princess Keena’s lips turned upward into a shy smile and she tried to pull the Prince’s hand from her face but he shook his head with a pout.
“Pallus.”
The Prince laughed and nuzzled the Princess’ nose with his own before he pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly. Princess Keena snuggled into the Prince’s soaked robes and hugged him just as tightly.
“I have missed you, Princess…m-more than you could ever imagine.” The Prince pulled away and slowly he rose to his feet. Prince Yoongi offered his hand to the Princess and cleared his throat. “Will you grant me a moment of your time? I wish to correct this grievous misunderstanding between us.”
Princess Keena placed her hand in Prince Yoongi’s and stood from the ground, her robes soaked. Prince Yoongi was quick to remove his outer robe and draped it over the Princess’ shoulders. Princess Keena looked at the Prince and saw that his cheeks were tinted, she glanced down and felt her own face heat. The cream shirt she had worn was nearly translucent and she wrapped the robe tighter around her body.
“Let us change out of these wet clothes. I will have them bring hot tea as well.” Prince Yoongi offered the Princess his hand and when she grabbed his hand once more, the Prince pulled her close and lifted the Princess off the ground. She yelped and threw her arms around the Prince’s shoulders to hold on and he laughed.
“"Ya, mete m 'atè! People will see us.”
“No one will see us…isn’t that right Hoseok?” The Prince called to his friend and Hoseok walked over with his hair plastered to his face and his outfit soaked. Hoseok produced a small pea sized silver stone and the Prince grinned. “Star stones give the user a temporary cloak of invisibility.”
Hoseok handed the stone to the Prince and Prince Yoongi easily crushed it in his palm. The Prince and Princess disappeared from sight and Hoseok sighed when Mingi shouted in protest. Before Hoseok could say anything a yellow bird flew down from a nearby tree and Aga soon stood in the bird's place.
“Wow!” Jooheon clapped his hands and Chan slapped the back of his head.
“Shouldn’t you be following them?” Aga directed the question to Hoseok and Hoseok rolled his eyes.
“They will go back to the Prince’s chambers-” Hoseok cut himself off and groaned, “You three can return to the butterfly house, Aga and I will guard His and Her Highness.”
Mingi, Chan and Jooheon all bowed before they took their leave. Hoseok walked over to the lake, grabbed the box that the Prince had with him and tucked it under his arm before Aga and himself hurried into the palace. As much as Hoseok trusted the Prince, he did not trust Agust at all. Prince Yoongi knew the ins and outs of the palace, as a child he would explore the secret passages with Hoseok and Namjoon and this time it was no different.
He made it to his chambers undetected and carried the Princess into the washroom. The steam from the heated water was heavy and made their wet clothing all the more uncomfortable. Prince Yoongi set the Princess down and watched as she held the robe tighter around her body.
“Take your time bathing, I will send someone in with a change of clothing.” Prince Yoongi made to move away from the Princess and she grabbed the sleeve of his robe. Prince Yoongi looked down at the Princess’ hand and slowly looked up to her face. She frowned and shifted her weight from foot to foot. “...Do you require something more of me, Princess?”
Princess Keena glanced at the Prince’s expectant face and quickly glanced down at her feet before she removed her grip on his sleeve.
“I do not wish for you to get sick on my account, my Prince. I would prefer it if you bathed first.”
“Nonsense, you will bathe first. A little rain water will not cause me to be ill,” Prince Yoongi folded his hands in front of himself and cleared his throat before he bowed his head. “I will have someone make tea in the meantime…excuse me, Princess.”
Once the Prince exited the washroom, Princess Keena covered her face with her hands and screamed into the wet fabric of the Prince’s robe. What had she tried to say? Why did she stop him from leaving at that moment? It was inappropriate for the Prince and Princess to be alone like they were and the Princess shook her head. What had come over her?
The Princess whined, pulled her hands away from her face and looked around the washroom. It was much larger than the one that had been attached to her room when she first arrived in the Min empire and it was still larger than the one in the butterfly house. As she looked into the deep, rippling waters inside the bathing pool, the Princess wondered if maybe the waters were large enough to accommodate Agust’s fully shifted form.
The clear water looked inviting as steam rose from the surface and the Princess bit her lower lip. This was wholly inappropriate, she should have rejected the Prince’s offer and returned to her own home to then meet again at another time. A shiver crawled up the Princess’ back and she shook her head, it was too late for her to be regretful now. She looked at the door that led to the inside of the Prince’s chambers and clicked her tongue. It was better to do what was ordered…asked?
Hurriedly, the Princess turned her back to the door, removed the Prince’s robe from around her body and it dropped to the floor with a wet plop. She toed off her shoes and grimaced as the wet bottom of her skirt touched the tops of her bare feet. It was a very unpleasant feeling and the Princess wanted nothing more than to forget it. She unwrapped her iro and that too joined the Prince’s robe on the floor, again with a wet plop.
The Princess carefully removed the see-through blouse from her body and added it to the growing pile of garments. She stood in just her undergarments and as she reached behind her back to unwrap the fabric around her breasts, there was a knock before Yongsun announced her and Hyejin’s presence.
The Princess sighed, her shoulders dropped from her ears a little and she found herself thankful that the Prince had called her handmaidens to assist with her bathing. Hyejin stripped the Princess of her remaining clothes and ushered her into the heated water while Yongsun gathered a fresh rag to wash the Princess along with nice smelling soaps.
“I wish not to spend too much time in the water. I fear that his Highness will catch a cold if he waits much longer.”
Yongsun smiled at the Princess’ words and lathered a rag in poney and blackcurrant scented soap. While Yongsun bathed the Princess, Hyejin took the time to remove the Princess’ makeup and dry her hair. The water was hot, hotter than the Princess was used to but the cold from the rain outside had settled so deep within her bones that it was a welcomed heat. Yongsun washed the Princess twice before she allowed the Princess to step out of the waters and Hyejin patted her skin dry. Yongsun held up a black dressing robe that was much too large to belong to the Princess and Princess Keena felt the blood warm under her cheeks.
“His Highness has granted you access to his sleeping chambers to use while you dress,” Yongsun explained as she tied the sash of the robe tightly around the Princess’ waist. “Byulyi and Wheein are outside of the door, they will assist you in dressing.”
“W-Where is His Highness?” Princess Keena muttered as she gripped the collar of the robe tightly in her hands.
“Before we enter here, His Highness was perched in his sitting room.”
Princess Keena cleared her throat and squared her shoulders as she dropped her hands at her side, “Very well…thank you.”
Yongsun bowed at the waist and Hyejin walked over to open the door for the Princess. When the door opened, Byulyi and Wheein were by the Princess’ side and led her into the Prince’s sleeping chambers to get dressed behind a six paneled screen dressing partition that had a large cherry blossom tree painted on screens with gold ginkgo leaves and humming-quill. Once behind the screen, Wheein lathered the Princess’ damp skin with body oil while Byulyi carried over a wooden mannequin that was dressed in a simple red hunfu. The Princess eyed the mannequin, the robes again, looked too big to belong to her.
“Is this new?” The Princess whispered as she allowed Byulyi to help her into fresh and dry undergarments.
The two handmaidens shared a look and the Princess raised an eyebrow before Wheein finally answered. “These belong to His Highness and he requested that you change into them.”
Princess Keena clicked her tongue. "Sa a pa ede agiman l 'yo."
The Princess kept her arms raised to make it easier for Byulyi to slip the white cross-collared robe on first before she covered it with a blush toned robe. Over top of the blush robe, the main red robe was layered with a golden belt wrapped tightly around the Princess’ waist. The final robe was blush colored with a small pattern of red ink clouds on it; the sleeves were wide and long which made the Princess giggle to herself. The sleeves came a little past her knees and she knew they should have stopped just slightly after mid-thigh.
Wheein carefully dried the Princess’ hair once more and as she started to pull the braid into an updo, the Princess instructed her to leave it down in a single two strand twist that laid in the middle of the Princess’ back. Princess Keena slipped her feet into a pair of red slippers that were much too big for her and she shuffled into the sitting room, once Byulyi was informed that the Prince was no longer there.
In the sitting room, the Princess sat on the largest settee that faced away from the washroom and she felt heat creep up the back of her neck and spread to her cheeks at the sight of Aga and Hoseok, who stood nearby. Hoseok offered the Princess a heart shaped smile while Aga gave a single nod of his head. The Princess gently kicked off the too-big slippers and folded her knees closer to her body as she sat on the settee. Her legs were pulled in at her side, covered by the robes while the tips of her toes peaked out.
In the bathing room, Prince Yoongi soaked in the heated waters while his hair was conditioned. The rain had chilled him to the bone and with Agust’s spirit inside of him, the Prince tended to take longer to heat up compared to humans. His blood ran hot for the most part, but the weather played a big role in his overall temperature. Agust twisted in the Prince’s heart and mocked him for showing weakness in front of the Princess.
Why would she stay with you? A sniveling, pathic boy who can only beg on his knees.
The Prince ignored Agust’s words, for he knew that what the dragon considered weakness, could be his greatest strength. The servant behind him gently tipped his head down and forward, the Prince closed his eyes and let the warm water soak his hair. Four times the servant rinsed the Prince’s hair and washed him once more before the Prince stepped out of the water. He was towel dried before his black dressing robe was pulled onto his body and he walked out of the bathroom in a cloud of steam.
Prince Yoongi noticed the Princess on the settee as he headed towards his sleeping chambers and he smirked to himself. In his bed chamber, the Prince dropped his dressing robe and walked over to his closet where inside another mannequin stood dressed in a red hanfu. The Prince put on his undergarments and stood still while two servants helped him dress into a white cross-collared robe. The white robe was covered with a black robe and over top of the black robe, the main red robe was layered with a golden belt wrapped tightly around the Prince’s waist. The final robe was black with a small pattern of red ink clouds on it. The sleeves of the robe were wide and stopped just slightly after the Prince’s mid-thigh when he had put his arms down.
A knock at the door sounded throughout the room and Hoseok opened the door to reveal a small group of servants with covered trays in their hands. The table in front of the Princess was moved to the side and replaced with one that was slightly bigger before the trays were placed on the table and side tables. A smaller separate tray was placed in on the side of the Princess and she noticed that it had everything set up to make fresh tea. The servants left the room and the Princess’ handmaid's excused themselves before they left shortly after.
A soft clicking caught the Princess’ attention and she looked away from the tea set in front of her. The Prince’s slippers slapped against the floor with each step he took and once he was within the Princess’ line of vision he smiled, teeth and gums fully displayed. The Princess looked at the Prince’s outfit and then down at her own, the colors were complementary while the design was identical.
“Your Highness…”
“Princess?”
Princess Keena watched as the Prince walked over and sat across from her on the settee.
“Thank you for the garb,” the Princess smiled softly and Prince Yoongi nodded his head as he leaned forward.
“I have yet to wear those robes and I thought the softer tone would suit you more than myself.”
“Is that why you choose to wear the counterpart to these robes?” The Princess’ words were teasing but accusatory as she narrowed her eyes and Prince Yoongi ran his tongue over his teeth.
The Prince silently scooted to the edge of his seat and pulled the tray of tea closer to himself. Princess Keena watched as Prince Yoongi put four scoops of light orange powder into the tea pot and poured hot water on top. He swirled the teapot in his hands easily, not a single drop spilled as he poured the tea into two cups. Prince Yoongi grabbed a small clear glass vial with a dropper that had a dark pink liquid in it; he squeezed one dropper full of the pink liquid into each cup and then added two lumps of sugar into the Princess’ cup. A dried slice of orange was added on top and the Prince nodded to himself, pleased with how the tea looked.
Prince Yoongi slid the tray back into the middle of the table and before the Princess could lean forward, Aga was at her side and handed her the hot cup of tea before he handed the other cup to the Prince. Princess Keena stared at the cup in her hand, the tea was a beautiful shade of blood orange with a sweet citrus aroma that made the Princess’ mouth water.
“Is this your orange and pink grapefruit tea?”
Prince Yoongi gave a single nod of his head and waited for the Princess to sip her tea. “Do you like it, Princess?”
The flavor was tangy and bold as the orange and grapefruit playfully battled for dominance while the sugar acted as a gentle mediator between the two. Princess Keena swallowed the tea and rested the cup on the side of her knee.
“It is as wonderful as you had described in your letters.”
Pleased with the Princess’ words, the Prince took a sip of his own tea and sighed deeply as he settled more relaxed into his seat.
“Do-” Prince Yoongi licked his lips once more and weighed the weight of his words in his mind before he continued to speak, “You hate me, Princess?”
Princess Keena stared at the cup in her hands and tapped her fingers against the sides as the Prince’s question echoed in her ears. Did she hate him? Did she truly hate the man who had so easily befriended her and wrote such words of comfort?
“Did you have knowledge of your parent’s plan to wed us?”
“No.” Prince Yoongi sat up straighter and set his cup of tea down. “I was kept in the dark just as you. If I had known their true intentions I would have found a way to put a stop to it-”
“That would not have been possible and you know it just as well as I.”
Prince Yoongi shook his head. “I would have found a way.”
Princess Keena saw the way the Prince’s eyes quivered as the onyx started to give way to gold and she slowly unfolded her legs from beside her. The Prince watched the Princess as she set her cup of tea on the table and in doing so, the Prince noticed that the rings he had gifted her were no longer on her fingers. The Princess knew that the Prince had noticed her lack of jewelry and she pulled her hands into her lap. The Prince slowly raised his eyes from her hands to her face and the Princess refused to look away from his piercing gaze.
“Let me rephrase my question. Princess-” The Prince’s eyes fluttered down to the Princess’ hand and back to her eyes. “Do you still hate me?”
Princess Keena thought back to the advice that Saina had offered and found herself shaking her head in answer. “Hate you, Your Highness?” Princess Keena’s lips twitched as she fought down a twisted smile. “I befriended a young boy from the great Min Empire and through our letters, we grew from mere children to adults. I shared with that young boy, now a young man my fears, my hopes, my dreams…and he in turn shared the same.”
Princess Keena rose to her feet and walked across the short distance that separated her from the Prince. “I found a piece of myself within the written words of a stranger and when I was finally granted permission to meet him, I was overcome with excitement.”
The Prince craned his neck upward to keep his gaze locked with the Princess’ and his breath caught in his throat when the Princess raised her hands and cupped his face gently.
“I came to the Min Empire with the grand notion that I would meet my dear friend and share with him a bigger piece of me. Now that I had the chance to see him with my own eyes and feel him with my own hands…” Princess Keena traced the hard lines of the Prince’s face with the tips of her fingers and Prince Yoongi kept her gaze all the while. “I was fond of the young man and once our hands touched-” Princess Keena trailed her hands down to the Prince’s shoulder and Prince Yoongi rose to his feet. Prince Yoongi’s hands found the Princess’ and their fingers intertwined as he pulled the Princess’ hands to rest on his chest, right above his heart.
Prince Yoongi lowered his head and his vision went blurry for a moment as the Princess’ face became closer and closer. Their foreheads touched, their noses squished together and their breath intermingled as they stared into each other's eyes. Prince Yoongi’s chest rose and fell steadily while his heart beat uncontrollably under the Princess’ hands.
“Once our hands touched, I knew our fates were very much dependent on the other’s.”
Prince Yoongi sighed and rubbed his thumbs over the Princess’ hands. “Do you still hate me?” The Prince repeated and the Princess stared at him silently. “Tell me plainly and I will give you back the freedom that was stolen from you. I will-” the Prince’s eyes flashed gold and he tightened his hold on the Princess’ hands. “I will cancel this engagement and send you safely back to Escistan once the war is over.”
Princess Keena shook her head and closed her eyes before she inhaled deeply. When her eyes opened they were moonlight silver and tears gathered at the corners. “I could never hate you, my Prince…never-”
“But you-”
“I was upset!” The Princess’ words were sharp and to the point as she glared at the Prince through unshed tears. “I-I thought everything had been a lie…that what we shared-”
“Foolish woman,” Prince Yoongi scolded with a pout and the Princess laughed, something between a cry and giggle.
“Pall-”
The words on the Princess’ tongue were silenced and forgotten when the Prince surged forward and captured her lips with his own. The Princess’ eyes slipped closed and the tears silently rolled down her face as she followed the Prince’s lead and pressed her lips more firmly to his. Princess Keena managed to pull her hands free from the Prince’s grasp and gripped the collar of his robes in her fists while the Prince’s hands found their own place softly on the sides of her neck. The Prince tilted his head to the side and the Princess sighed into his mouth, he licked at her lips and she shyly parted her lips.
Hoseok cleared his throat loudly and Prince Yoongi growled when the Princess jumped away, inches now placed between their faces. Hoseok and Aga both stood a good distance away from the royal pair, Hoseok looked amused while Aga looked anything less than pleased but he kept silent.
“The food is getting cold, Your Highness,” Hoseok quipped and the Princess pulled herself from the Prince’s arms while heat spread over her face.
Prince Yoongi grabbed the Princess’ right wrist lightly and raised her hand on his mouth. “I hate that your hand is so bare,” the Prince grumbled and pressed a closed mouth kiss to the Princess’ index finger. “Will you wear my gift once more?”
The Prince’s eyes were daring as he stared down at the Princess and when she didn’t answer he smirked. There were thick gold rings around his irises and he didn’t look away as he started to kiss each fingertip of the Princess’ hand. The tip of his tongue poked out and teased at the pads of her fingers and Aga spoke up for the first time.
"Ase!"
The command pulled the Princess from the Prince’s hypnotizing eyes and she snatched her hand out of his grasp before she hurried around the table and sat in her seat. Prince Yoongi glared at Aga as he licked his lips and hummed teasingly. He released a palm of smoke from his nose and Hoseok interrupted as he noticed the signs of Agast.
“That will be all for today, Princess-” Hoseok jerked his head towards Aga and the larger man walked over to the Princess while Prince Yoongi watched the whole time. “I think it best that you retire to your room.”
“Princess, come with me.” Aga offered the Princess his hand and as the gold around the Prince’s irises became thicker and thicker, the Princess felt Ceyeh stir in her heart. “Princess, we must leave, now!” Aga’s voice was stern and it shook the Princess to her core, something was wrong.
Princess Keena placed her hand in Aga’s and rose to her feet. “Would you care to join me for breakfast tomorrow, my Prince?”
Prince Yoongi licked over his fangs and gave the Princess a curt nod of his head. “Tomorrow.” The Prince’s words were something in between a growl and whine and Hoseok stepped in front of him.
“Goodbye, Princess.” Hoseok bowed his head and Aga led the Princess from the Prince’s chambers.
Aga and the Princess walked the halls of the palace in silence until they stepped foot outside.
“Is Agust really one that I have to fear, Aga?”
Aga looked at the Princess and clicked his tongue. “All dragons are to be feared, Princess. I would advise you to ask the Prince himself or question your history tutor.”
“Tempus? Why would Tempus know of Agust…unless you mean?” Princess Keena shook her head and bit the inside of her cheek as they walked. Not all dragon’s were recorded in history, only those who caused prosperity and misfortune were remembered. If Agust was a dragon to be feared was he a dragon of misfortune?

Can I request a reading like the other ones? Jooheon's soulmate? I picture him with someone with an innocent vibe idk why, innocent in a way like, very wholesome and heartwarming. And we all know his soft side, I feel like he is the type of guy to treasure someone like that, and try to shield their golden heart. Do you agree, what do the cards say?
Monsta X Tarot reading
Jooheon’s soulmate ♥️
• This was the easiest reading so far
• The energy is just so... smooth
• Sounds a bit weird but it was so effortless
• It felt as if all the cards were already picked out for me
• So structured yet so easy and relaxed
• Amazing energy
• In a way almost healing
• A lot of Fire energy too (Aries; Leo; Sagittarius. Red’s notes: Not necessarily these signs just people who have a lot of Fire energy in their natal chart. It can be anything from their ascending sign to just a lot of Fire sign traits expressed throughout their chart)
• This person won’t take anyone’s bs
• They won’t let anyone take advantage of them
• They have a plan and they stick to it
• They know exactly who they are and they don’t play games
• A type to leave a very strong impression on people
• But at the same time they are sweet and caring
• They can truly see Jooheon for who he is and appreciate him
• That doesn’t mean they don’t see his flaws
• Oh no, they are very well aware of every single flaw this man has
• And yet they don’t care
• Because they see how insignificant they become when one finds the right way to approach and handle him
• They won’t let him overstep their boundaries
• Ever
• Such a powerful personality
• But in a very subtle way
• Easygoing and they don’t hold grudges
• They’re like a little bright flame that keep Jooheon warm and safe
• But fire can be extremely dangerous when mishandled
• Beautiful inside and outside
• Very unique look yet everything about them is so gentle
• Such a marvelous combination
• Family oriented but I have a very strong feeling that they had trouble finding relationships
• People often judge them too soon
• And might get intimidated by them
• But not Jooheon
• He just like them sees what others failed to notice
• He’s not intimidated, no
• He’s fascinated
• Mesmerized
• He feels so alive when they are together
• And so proud of them too
• It’s almost like the thrill of petting a majestic tiger knowing it won’t hurt you and feeling it purr under his touch
• And he feels safe knowing that they’re not here to play with his heart
• They’re honest
• Their touch is so gentle and warm
• And they’re there to hold him safe when he need to rest from the rest of the world

001 for Ace and Ningning
This seemed so perfect
@fantasyaespa
001. a tattoo parlour, buzzing with machinery and walls lined with artwork .
"I think we should reschedule for another day!" Ningning said as she nodded quickly and started walking the other way. Ace grabbed her hand quickly giving her puppy dog eyes.
"Noooo Joo is booked for the rest of the month! Anddd I made sure we got the whole place to ourselves so there won't be anyone else but the three of us." He said in reassurance along with giving her more puppy dog eyes. She tried to look away but huffed and pouted.
"Fine! But you have to hold my hand when he does it!" Ace nods quickly and happily.
"Yes of course! I can even show you his work. He's tattooed my womb tattoo and pec tattoo." He went to start slipping off his shirt but Nin stopped him.
"I'll take your word for it baby." She giggled and kissed his cheek. Ace pouted a little but took her hand and tugged her into the shop. He smiled big as he saw Jooheon looking down at papers.
"Hey Joo!" He squealed as he hoped holding onto Ningning. "We're here for the appointment I booked."
"Yeah I was wondering when you would come in, you were standing out there for like 10 minutes." He said as he proped his reading glasses on his head while Ningning blushed with a pout, sticking her tongue out at Joo. The taller man just chuckled as he stood up. "Well alright, I have the designs you guys agreed on and the placements. We just have to numb the areas and start. Who wants to go first.~" He asked as he looked between the two. Ningning looked at Ace with big eyes as he sighed.
"I'll go first, taking one for the team.~" He giggled as he kissed her forhead softly and she bounced saying a soft 'thank you' while they start moving around to get ready.

Soulmate!au Series | Jooheon
Pairing: Jooheon x Reader
Summary: Everyone got their entire life to get ready for the day they were going to meet their soulmate, except for you, whose soul clock has been reset since you were born.
Words: +1,9k
Every morning you woke up with the sunlight in your eyes, the yellow-ish strings touching and warming your skin. Eyes slowly opening and, as soon as they focus, meeting the big frame on your wall.
“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” Lao Tzu
Those words soothed your soul and mind for a while, until you looked to the little red numbers on your skin. Where it was supposed to be marking the time until you meet your soulmate were a bunch of zeros.
Is your soulmate dead? Do you even have one? Did you already met them and haven’t noticed?
The questions filled your mind every day since you can remember. And ashamed of your “condition”, you hid the soulmate mark under a large real watch.
A shiver ran down your spine as you felt the soft and fluffy tail of your cat touch your skin as feathery as the winter wind.
“‘Morning, lollipop” you played with his ears, caressing his soft fur and earning a loud and soothing purr. “Are you hungry?” he meowed and you laughed. “C’mon, moma will feed you” another shiver went up your spine as your warm feet touched the cold tiles of your room, and you cursed yourself for not having bought a carpet yet.
The grey cat followed you along to the kitchen, waiting for you to fill his bowl with the food so you could finally do something for yourself. You decided on your usual egg roll and black coffee, taking your time before falling on the rush of Seoul.
You entered the Starship building greeting your coworkers as well as some trainees and idols that were there and walking straight up to your office.
“Good morning people” you smiled to the people there, that greeted you back, your best friend hugging you.
“Good morning, Y/N” Sooyoung said happily, her smile wide in the thin lips of her. “Boss said he’ll be coming over for a meeting at 10 am”.
“I don’t know why you keep calling him boss” your bags thudded on your table. “He’ll be your husband in a few months” she shrugged. “And I still don’t know why you’re still my PA when you can literally be one of the bosses of our department”.
“I like working with you. Besides, if I went to boss things up, you’d go with me-”
“And this department needs you” your boss arrived and ruffled your hair, it was incredible how he loved to treat like a kid even though you were already 24. “How’s the brainstorm?” he asked you, sitting in your chair and the you noticed three of the seven Monsta X members. You waved at them happily, after so many years working there, you grew a soft spot for them.
You, your boss, Shownu, Kihyun, Changkyun and other people from your team spent the whole morning and good part of the afternoon discussing the concept and the visuals for their up and coming comeback, only stopping to eat the takeovers Sooyoung brought.
“I think that we should mix it up a little bit” Changkyun spoke, holding two of the concept boards. “I don’t know, maybe make it a little more urban and edgy rather than dark”.
“Like the one we did for our last Japanese comeback?” Kihyun asked and the maknae nodded. You analysed the boards in front of you as well as the lyrics and meanings. “Call Jooheon and Wonho, they helped produce the album” the boy nodded and sent a message in his phone.”
In a matter of minutes, the two known faces arrived and took their parts in the discussion, expressing their thoughts over the ideas.
Your eyes tried to concentrate on that creative mess in front of you but they unconsciously traveled over the face of the so well-known boy. You and Jooheon were born in the same day, the same hospital, with a difference of seconds, making him older than you - which was enough for him make fun of you and try to piss you off.
Ever since then, your parents became friends, consequently, you two too. Jooheon has been in the most importants parts of your life and you on his. When he became a trainee, when he took part in the survival show, the debut, every single bit of his life you were there. It was more than clichè to tell you’d fall for him, but can someone blame the heart?
Yes, you can. And you did. Every single day of your existence.
Because while you were there, with your soulmate clock stopped, his was counting. He had someone. And it wasn’t you.
“Y/N? Y/N~ah!” you woke from your daydreams with Sooyoung shaking you angrily. “Are you okay? What do you think of this?” you nodded and smiled, just letting an I think that’s great almost inaudible. “Then that’ll be!” the woman clapped her hands excitedly, being followed by the others in the room.
Everyone started to either dissipate from the room or talk to each other about the work to be done from then on. You just wanted to go home, put your feet in a nice and warm bucket of water and stuff your face with pasta and wine, when you felt a hand on your shoulder. You didn’t have to look to know to who that gripped belonged to.
“You. Me. My place. Movies and food.” he said excitedly pointing from you to him. His brown eyes shining galaxies that made you never wanted to stop looking at it. “Oh! And I won’t accept a no as an answer” you rolled your eyes and sighed. You could be 50, 60, and still would act like kids with each other. “Yah! C’mon, Y/N! I’ve finished everything for the comeback, I’m finally free and I want to spend some quality time with my bestie”.
“Kyunnie! I think Jooheon is talking to you” you called the youngster, earning a laugh from the boy in front of you. “Are you serious right now?” he nodded and nudged to your sides, basically cuddling you. He always did that when he wanted attention. “Ok. But I’ll go home first and take a shower and change” he nodded and kissed the tip of your nose, running away from somewhere you didn’t know. “He’s nuts”.
It was almost 8 pm when you parked your car in front of the condominium, giving it to the car keeper of the fancy place.
“Hey!” Jooheon greeted you with a hug, even before you rang the bell. “I saw you coming from the cameras” you giggled at him. You absolutely loved this silly and caring way he had. After all, that’s one of the reasons that made you fall for that man.
Stopping to analyze all the situation, the main reason that you fell for Jooheon is that you allowed yourself too. You never had anyone to wait for, never spend your days dreaming about how your soulmate would look or how they’d be. You had enough time to pay attention to the tiny details of the man you trusted and cared the most. The little things that made Jooheon himself.
You only wished you could understand why you were different from everybody else and why your soulmate couldn’t be your true soulmate, the one you chose.
“What will we do tonight?” he asked pulling you to the couch perfectly placed in the center of the room.
“You were the one who invited me. You decide” his arms hugged your waist and pulled you to snuggle on his chest, which you gladly did, hugging him back and hearing his fast heartbeat. “Are you okay, Joo?” he only nodded, his hands caressing your hair like the rarest feather from a phoenix.
“Y/N…” his voice came as a whisper, loud enough only to travel slowly to your ears.
“Jooheon”
“I have something to tell you” the chill that ran down your spine the day you saw him shirtless was nothing compared to the one you felt that moment. Every single pore of your body was awaken. Those simple words made your heart to beat at the same pace his own and, only then, you could tell it was because he was nervous.
You nodded after a while, waiting for him to say something. The boy lifted his and your body, eyes meeting too close for comfort. His right hand pulled his left sleeve, revealing his soulmate clock, the remaining time almost ending.
“Joo-” you could feel your heart traveling from your chest to your mouth then coming back. With a swift movement, he took his clock out. revealing another one underneath. Your eyes blinked quickly, trying to assimilate everything. “What’s… What the fuck, Lee Jooheon?” you screamed, louder than you wanted.
“The company gave me a fake clock the moment I entered so I could figure it out what was wrong with me and my soulmate” you listened carefully to the boy in front of you. “I never really cared about it, I didn't have time for it after all. But the fake clock was running and time getting tighter, so I had to figure it out what to do, especially with monbebes already knowing about my clock” he sighed, holding your hands on his.
“That means you already met your soulmate?” the question was low, the pain in your heart being too much. His clock was reseted. The zeros adorning his arm.
“My clock always showed zeros. I can’t remember one day it had numbers on it. I didn’t know what was the problem until my mom realized. My clock never worked because I already knew my soulmate. I always did. Our clocks didn’t work because we met each other the moment we were born” you blinked a few times, too much information to handle.
“So… Me and you are…” he nodded.
“I guess, but there’s only one way to know for sure” his body came closer than already was, chests close, knees brushing each other, foreheads touching and the hot breaths mixing it with each other. You closed your eyes and waited. His soft lips ever so gently touched yours, just enough to tickle the muscle and make your body shiver even more than it already was. You were the one who closed the space between your bodies, hand holding the back of his neck and pushing his head torwards yours.
As soon as your lips finally met, an eletric wave ran from your lips to your wrists. The numbers burning your skin, the forms changing to become each other's name. Your fingers gently touched the red-ish name imprinted in his skin. The tears threatening to scape your eyes as you felt your whole body warm up.
“I love you” the words came so easily out of his lips, like they were waiting on the tip of his tongue for so long to be spelled out. “I’m more than happy to know that you are my soulmate” his nose caressed yours, arms wrapping you up in a tight hug. “I love you so much, Y/N”.
“I love you too, Joo” it felt so good saying those words with the real meaning. “The only bad part is that we won’t have all that cute fluff shit of getting to know each other” you pouted.
“Says who?” he left your embrace and got on his feet, you following along. “Hi, I’m Lee Jooheon. Your soulmate” you laughed at his silliness. “Nice to meet you”.
“I’m Y/N. Nice to meet you too” you shooke his hand, but quickly enough he pulled to another kiss.
And another.
And another.
