i wasn't tagged by anyone, i just wanted to do one of these! 2023 has been my first real year exploring kpop and all that, so all things considered i haven't listened to the most new releases, as i was listening to older releases mixed in with everything, but i think all of these have been some of my top faves! and it being my first year is part of the reason i wanted to make one of these since it's cool to me idk ^_^

hopefully this year i'll listen to a lot more new releases than last year, and at the end i hope to have a hard time narrowing down my choices. i had difficulty for this set, but overall not too much. also because a lot of my faves are b-sides that didn't get any performances i could gif so they were easy to eliminate lol

I’m so glad they finally released the full cam (without reactions) for Round 2.

Group B and Group C were both phenomenal!! Here’s my interpretation of why I think C won (and it being justified):

When comparing the two groups, I think C was just overall solid. I’d argue that both teams were dancing in the pocket, but C’s members were more equal in terms of skill. C’s synhronization was also impressive. One of the judges (I don’t remember who but I think Gikwang?? or Kyuhyun??) mentioned how the ppl not in the center held their own with a strong performance too. I think B had a couple group moments where the gap in skills became apparent (some of the members hidden in the back).

Next is props & story. It seemed like some of the judges weren’t too big on props, but I just thought that was personal taste. For B, I think they could’ve gone without the story. Like what was the point of the book? And then the ending with Junseo waking back up/ coming back alive?? also could’ve gone without it. I think if they were going the story route, the story should’ve been clearer. Were they students taking a break from studying and wanting some excitement? Were they just rebellious teens? Was it a sleepover? Did they go to sleep or die at the end? Tbh, I think this song & the idea of 1 person “surviving” at the end would’ve been better executed if the plot was about a heist. That or just go no story at all.

Clothes honestly play a factor, granted I don’t think the contestants have much input. C’s clothes were very uniform, streamlined, and simple. It was very easy to appreciate their dance lines & the sync. B’s clothes, while literally school uniforms, had more variety. The outfits were also baggy, which I don’t know how to explain, but that exposed more when it came to the varying skills in hip hop choreo.

Finally, keep in mind that the scores were really close AND varied a lot. It wasn’t that every judge had B & C as either 1st or 2nd. Two of the judges (Moonbyul & Gikwang) gave D a higher score than B. The point difference between B & D was literally 1. This all just goes to show how impressive ALL of the performances were. It was seriously that tight.

Oooooh my gosh, I got to do my very first video call ever, and it was with my ults! One minute goes by SO FAST, but I'll treasure this call forever. I told Yongguk that I've been a BABY since debut, and that B.A.P has dones so much for me, so I just wanted to thank him for everything. He seemed so genuinely touched, and how he replied by saying that these moments (getting thanked like that) were special made my heart so incredibly full. I was also going to ask about how Tigger was doing, but despite having notes ready, I blanked entirely and forgot to look at them. That's where the "see me" moment happened, and gosh, he's such an amazing soul! For Daehyun, he opened immediately by pointing out my albums behind me, and his reaction to them made me smile so much it hurt! I mostly just got to tell him I was a singer, and his voice has been a huge influence on me, which you can see in the gifs above. He also seemed really touched, and I'm so glad I could give him that. He's taken such a leap coming back with the troubles he's been having, and I just wanted him to know how much BABYz appreciate and love him. Again, I meant to ask about Ganji, but forgot to check my notes lol. For Jae, I'm afraid I may have been speaking too fast in general to him. I kept having to remind myself to slow down when he got a confused expression, and I felt bad about it. I asked him if he planned to do a solo album after his musical, and he said that he doesn't plan to right now. I told him that whenever he does, I'll be looking forward to it. Then there was an awkward pause, because again, I blanked, but I did get to tell him I've been a BABY since debut, which seemed to make him happy! Jongup was such a sweetie! I thanked him for getting the four of them back together for Curtain Call, and told him that I was so grateful. I also complimented his hair, because gosh, it looks so good! Then he noticed the albums as well, and I showed him like I had Dae, and he was also quite impressed haha! His little eyebrow raise at the end of his heart was the cutest thing! I know it's not a lot, but I hope that this recounting makes some BABYz out there smile at least a bit. I've been following B.A.P for so long, and they've meant so much to me, and this experience only made me love them more (if that's possible). I have no words to express the fullness of my heart right now, so I'll leave it at that!

@mijimina yes!! vanner did fucking great. every judge voted for them so they passed, and im not surprised bc they killed the audition. they were one of the most stable groups that performed and their entire performance was just. jaw dropping. just watch their performance cut on youtube and youll see what i mean

as for kingdom, the reason they got eliminated was super stupid. the judges said theyre talented, but they depend on their concept too much, and that was holding them back. they killed the performance and did better than some of the other groups that passed (same as romeo which im STILL pissed about) so i dont understand why they didnt pass them on the "potential" leg that they passed other groups for

okay my top 8 for peak time from the groups thats passed are vanner, dkb, 24k, blk, dgna, bae173, mont, and masc but if i had my way romeo, daydream, and kingdom would have passed 😤
