“In episode three, it’s a tough morning. They all look like they’ve been hit in the head with a rock. And then Taissa comes out of the cabin and doesn’t even remember doing it because she was her other shadow self when she did it. She wasn’t even Taissa, she was her bifurcated self.” — Executive Producer & Writer Jonathan Lisco

"It’s about this very specific friendship that Jackie and Shauna had, where Shauna loves Jackie, but also was always in her shadow. She adored this friend of hers, but also in some ways, was always wanting to kind of destroy her — maybe that’s going a bridge too far? But I think that is very relatable to a lot of people who are in these intense friendships. And so the next step of that is consumption, right? I literally want to consume this person, because I love them so much — but I also want them no longer to exist in a way. I also want to keep them a part of me for my entire existence." - Jonathan Lisco

i love this clip from jonathan liscos interview but especially because out of context it looks like lottienat lesbian sex scene real. like if we just removed Travis from the equation it would literally be a homoerotic battle between opposing ideologies of survival and i think that's beautiful
#mine#yellowjackets#it goes unsaid but they're both different types of survival like it's crazy. they're getting along in different ways#i think it's interesting that in the future the others are grateful to nat for what she did#and steer clear of lottie in conversation and interaction

Everything we know about Yellowjackets 3
Yellowjackets, the critically acclaimed survival drama series, has officially entered production for its third season. The show, which premiered on Showtime in 2021, has garnered significant attention for its gripping storyline and strong performances. Here's everything we know about Yellowjackets Season 3:
Renewal and Production
Yellowjackets was renewed for a third season in December 2022, just before the premiere of Season 2. The show's creators, Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco, have confirmed that the new season is currently in production. The cast, including Ella Purnell, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves, has reassembled in Canada to film the third season.
Plot and Themes The plot for Season 3 is still under wraps, but co-creator Ashley Lyle has hinted at a nostalgic return to the vibe of the show's debut season. Lyle mentioned that the girls have been out in the wilderness for a while and are thriving, suggesting that the new season will focus on their survival and resilience in the face of adversity. Bonus Episode A bonus episode is planned to precede the release of Season 3. This episode will provide additional context and potentially change the trajectory of the next season. The exact release date for the bonus episode has not been announced, but it is expected to be released closer to the premiere of Season 3. Premiere Date The premiere date for Yellowjackets Season 3 has not been officially confirmed. However, given the production timeline and the ongoing writers' strike, it is likely that the show will not return until 2025. Cast and Crew The main cast for Season 3 is expected to include Ella Purnell, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves, among others. The show's creators, Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco, will also be making their directorial debuts in the new season. Future of the Show Showtime has only renewed Yellowjackets for a third season, but the creators have plans for the show to last five seasons. They believe that the show's deeply serialized storytelling and focus on character development make it well-suited for a limited number of seasons, rather than an open-ended series. Overall, Yellowjackets Season 3 promises to be an exciting and suspenseful continuation of the show's gripping narrative. With its talented cast and crew, the series is sure to captivate audiences once again.

“By the end of the second season, we’re going to have much more insights into the many tragedies of Natalie, how the weight of the past informs the adult character.”
For all her character’s pain, Lewis says, “I feel like Natalie’s the sanest of all of them. I feel like this is how a very broken human being would express herself. If you like some tragedy with your comedy, Natalie will give it to you.”
[...]
“There are moments when Juliette’s on screen and she walks through a room where I’ve never seen someone carve space like that,” says Jonathan Lisco, the series’ showrunner along with creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. “She has an absolute lack of self-consciousness. This season is going to be an up-and-down ride for Natalie. The challenge is for her survival over her demons. Despite what they went through in the woods, all the women have a dynamic longing for that time, that they never felt more.”
“Natalie vacillates between explosive rage — though she would never hurt you — and then she’s a puddle of sorrow, guilt and shame,” Lewis says. “I just think the showrunners like seeing me angry. It’s exhausting. I exhaust myself. She’s not emoting a lot of lightness or happiness or laughter.” In two seasons, each requiring five-month shoots nearVancouver, “I think there’s only one scene where I laugh, where she’s having a good time for a minute.”
Lewis compares her often-comic scenes with Ricci, who plays semi-sociopathic Misty, to Bette Davis and Joan Crawford in “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?,” though “it’s hard to say who is Joan and who is Bette.”

“We also talked a lot about how, you know, in season one, Jackie and Shauna is really a love story of sorts. It’s about this incredibly intense profound friendship, one of those, you know like, initial childhood friendships that will either last and stay with you forever or you will grow apart, and you know, I think that the intensity of those friendships at that age, you know, there’s that love, there’s the resentment, there’s the wanting to be the other person and sort of wanting to consume that other person, felt like a really apt metaphor to all of us for what those types of relationships and friendships felt like.” - Ashley Lyle
“Well, yeah, I mean, I think if we did it right [Shauna consuming Jackie’s ear], and I hope you think we did, it’s very intimate. There’s like an even slightly erotic component to it, I would argue, that’s both about friendship but also like almost a quasi-sexualized love in a way.” - Jonathan Lisco
“Oh yeah, especially that age when you just -- you don’t have the tools to kind of compartmentalise different components of these intense relationships that you form with another person, and I think it is a stew. I mean, I think that there’s naturally sort of an attraction between two people who make a connection, and that doesn’t mean it’s going to be externalised or acted upon in a sexual way, but I think that to say that it’s not there at all is to deny something very real.” - Ashley Lyle

Has Misty Quigley met her match? We doubt it. But she's certainly met someone... interesting.
In the first two episode of Yellowjackets' second season, the series has introduced Walter (Elijah Wood), a fellow member of the Bureau of Citizen Detectives, and someone who has clearly taken an interest in Misty (Christina Ricci). In episode 2, he even went so far as to write Misty a letter — one that had to be read with a blacklight, of course.
And as the season progresses, we'll see more from Misty and her new, dare we say, friend? "It's a really fun storyline," Ricci tells EW. "Misty's been so desperate for a connection and a best friend, and she talks a big game about wanting to have a boyfriend and all that stuff. So it's interesting to see her reaction to someone who is interested in her, probably for the first time. I can't imagine this has happened to her before."
As for their connection, co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco adds, "They're basically trying to out-weird each other, and yet, you root for them. You really want them to find each other and be together, because where else in the world are each of them going to find a counterpart who gets them. But as fans know, that thing can go off the rails."It wouldn't be Yellowjackets if "off the rails" wasn't always a possibility.
An article from EW ...
My baby Walter 😍things are looking shitty but stay alive please 🙏

Florence + the Machine cover No Doubt's "Just A Girl" for "YELLOWJACKETS"
SHOWTIME has released the official trailer for season two of the Emmy-nominated drama “YELLOWJACKETS.” The season two trailer also marks the release of Florence + The Machine’s exclusive new single “Just A Girl,” a cover of No Doubt’s iconic song from 1995. The single is produced by Florence Welch and Mark Bowen of IDLES.
Season two of “YELLOWJACKETS” will debut on demand and on streaming Friday, March 24 for all SHOWTIME subscribers, before making its on-air debut on Sunday, March 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Season one, which has a rare 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and received seven Emmy nominations, averaged over 5 million weekly viewers across platforms and was the second-most streamed series in SHOWTIME history. “YELLOWJACKETS” is produced for SHOWTIME by studio Entertainment One (eOne).
“I’m such a huge fan of ‘YELLOWJACKETS’ and this era of music, and this song especially had a huge impact on me growing up, so I was thrilled to be asked to interpret it in a ‘deeply unsettling’ way for the show,” says Florence Welch. “We tried to really add some horror elements to this iconic song to fit the tone of the show. And as someone whose first musical love was pop punk and Gwen Stefani it was a dream job.”

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos), “YELLOWJACKETS” is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over. In season two, two months have passed since Shauna gave Jackie the cold shoulder— to disastrous results. In the face of their deepening hunger and fear, the tension among our Yellowjackets has only grown worse. The harsh conditions of winter are intensifying by the day, and the psyches of our survivors are deteriorating just as fast. Threatened by the darkness of the wilderness— and the haunting memories of it in the present— our former state champs will be forced to make impossible decisions. As they confront the horrible truth of what survival entails, the real nightmare for each of them will be to figure out who they are— and what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive.
Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, “YELLOWJACKETS” stars Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock), Oscar® and Emmy nominee Juliette Lewis (Camping), Emmy nominee Christina Ricci (Z: The Beginning of Everything) and Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable). Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under, Servant) and Simone Kessell (Obi-Wan Kenobi) have also joined the second season as series regulars, along with Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) in a season-long guest arc. Season two also stars Sophie Nélisse (The Book Thief), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers), Sophie Thatcher (Prospect), Samantha Hanratty (SHAMELESS), Courtney Eaton (Mad Max: Fury Road), Liv Hewson (Santa Clarita Diet), Steven Krueger (The Originals), Warren Kole (Shades of Blue) and Kevin Alves. “YELLOWJACKETS” is executive produced by Lyle, Nickerson and fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco. Drew Comins of Creative Engine serves as executive producer along with Ameni Rozsa, Sarah L. Thompson and Karyn Kusama who directed the pilot.
