Ditching D&D Beyond or never got it in the first place? Here's some free/pwyw resources.
Dicecloud. This online app allows you to make and track character sheets for free! It does a lot of the calculations for you, just like dnd beyond would. Best overall replacement. (Thank you, @chryslerisdead)
PWYW Class Character Sheets by Emmet Byrne. These character sheets in my opinion, are easier to fill out and harder to mess up, with class-specific features built-in. You can easily edit them digitally, and there's even multiclass/homebrew options. Slap em on Google drive or something, share with your DM, lots of options.
Point-Buy Calculator. Easily automates character stat creation if you're using the Point-Buy system.
5e Level Up Tool. Select your class, select your level, get a digestible checklist of everything you need to do to level up. This one is SO GOOD and so slept on.
5e Spellbook. A quick way to reference your spells and build a Spellbook with a ton of filters.
Encounter Calculator. I know challenge rating isn't everything, but this is a good/fast way to see how balanced your encounters are, at a glance, at least in the eyes of the source books.
RPGbot. Lots of resources for DMs and players: encounter builders, dpr calculators, and lists of player options with sample builds and optimization suggestions, which may be helpful to folks new to the game.
Bonus: Online Tools (System Agnostic)
Here.fm. This is the alternative I use instead of roll20, because it's faster/easier. Drag and drop in maps and tokens in seconds, built-in library of stickers you can use for effects, draw right on the virtual tabletop, use temporary drawings to map out moves, built-in dice rollers, and options for proximity chat. I use it in combination with discord (just have players join your here room muted), but it could be used entirely on it's own, I imagine. Not built for ttrpgs, but works incredibly well for them.
Kenku.fm. A PWYW mini browser focused on mixing and sharing music to your dnd games through whatever app you use, with helpful discord support. This app also LEGALLY bypasses the issue that got all the YouTube discord bots shut down, so you can share YouTube audio worry-free.
Additional Resources (Aka, stuff I found out about after I originally posted this):
flapkan. Holy shit, this might be the BEST character sheet option on this list! Form-fillable pdfs with fully automated built-in prompts to auto fill features and spells, built-in Point-Buy and other automated calculations, and it generates a lot for you. Can be used digitally or you can print!

[Image description: A digital drawing of the character Billy Kid from the film Billy the Kid and the Green Baize Vampire. He's wearing the outfit he wears for the grudge match, but sans the suit jacket. His pose is unconfident, knees together and one slightly bent. He hunched over slightly, loosely holding a snooker cue. There's a sheepish grin on his faces as he gazes off into the distance, noticeably sweating. There's a snooker table behind him, it's perspective warped. Above it, there's a fringed lamp that gives off a pale yellow light. The rest of the room is in shadow. All of the colours in the piece are warm but this makes the yellow light and green baize feel sickly. The lineart is starkly dark, with exaggerated shadows.]

History of Captain Hook on the seas
Tumblr media
From 1670 at the age of 18 to the age of 33, James worked for the East India Trading Company, for the first 6 years he worked aboard one ship until it went down and for one year he was without a job on the ocean, merely working on the docks.
Then he was hired aboard another ship and sailed for 4 years until that too disbanded or was destroyed and his next ship for 5 years, taking part in a mutiny to take over the ship and finally became a pirate in 1703.
He sailed as a pirate and plundered on the seven seas for 5 years, until one storm left him capsized on an island - A magical island of which there was no escape no matter how far you sailed. Neverland.
It was here in Neverland he was stuck for 11 years until he finally discovered the secret to pixie dust and could ultimately escape Neverland, at the age of 48. However, when he returns to earth, time had changed.
Based on Return to Neverland, 232 years had passed since Hook had been trapped there.
If we move it to today, Hook would have been in Neverland 315 years.
Whilst only 11 years had passed for Hook within the confides of Neverland, making him only 48. Technically, Hook is 363 years old.
Tumblr media
It hits hard when you realise how much has changed for Hook and how he feels he can only really be himself in Neverland now, on seas that never change, like him, as the rest of the world has left him behind.

Hauntings And Harpists: Prologue
When Kevin died, he didn't become nothingness like how he expected to. He also didn't find himself in what anyone would call heaven or hell. It felt as if at the moment of death his atoms were scattered in an array, then eventually reformed.
The first thing he remembered as a ghost was the bonfire. The funeral pyre.
His funeral pyre.
It was just past dusk and the flames were reaching into the sky as if to grasp the stars and bring them down to earth. Or to guide him up to fly through the heavens, to follow more closely with the speech.
It was a shame he missed the speech for his own funeral. It was quite the eloquent monologue. He had given it once, a long time ago, for a dear friend who fell far to young.
The crowd eventually dispersed, and Kevin tried halfheartedly to get someone's, anyone's attention. He didn't expect results, but he still tried, waving a hand in front of their faces or shouting the best he could around his missing tongue.
It didn't matter that he couldn't make actual words, because no one could hear him anyway. They would just pass through him with a chill. He found very quickly that the only things he could interact with were his clothes and the staff in his hand.
The things he was burned with.
He was in full uniform, flight harness and all, though lacking the actual gear that made flight possible, though that was standard procedure, even if he hadn't given it up to the next young cadet when he could no longer use it anyway.
He was surprised to find his twin knives sheathed into the harness where he always kept them. He thought for sure the practicality of keeping them intact would have out weighed the sentimentality of letting them warp or the emeralds on the handles crack in the flames.
He held one and studied it for a moment. After everything that had happened in his life, he would not have been surprised if they didn't give him a proper funeral. At least, not one that honored him as one of them. But they did. He didn't see the whole affair but he saw what seemed to be every one of his former comrades in attendance. He saw the bucket which would have held the hot coals the arrow would have been lit from and placed on his chest to spread the fire along the oiled harness across his body, consuming him as a proud fallen soldier of Paradis.
He saw as one of the new generation of bards slung their guitar across their back and walked away with the rest. He wished he knew what song they played as the flames roared up.
The copper green flames, which was a nice touch. It was a joke he said once a long time ago, he was surprised anyone remembered.
He watched the flames die down properly, and soon there were only a few living souls in sight. Julian, at the front, with Quinn and Rynn at his sides. He wondered what Quinn, specifically, would do now. Now that he didn't have a parolee to keep an eye on. Perhaps his secondary assignment as ambassador would be formally named his primary one?
Kevin didn't know what would happen to him next, if this state as a ghost was temporary or his eternal curse. But he figured he could sheath his knife, take up his walking stick, and stand by the dwindling fire with his three closest living friends.
