This is how I imagined Joe would look in the upcoming Digimon Adventure 20th project before his design for it was revealed back in December.

Closing time
@jo-kido
Closing time... finally.  Even for the kitchen slaves.  The evening light was slanting just that particular way; the last dish had been wiped and carefully replaced.  Matt leaned back on the countertop, stretching his aching neck and enjoying the quiet.
Then the idea hit his mind, and he was out of the door like a rocket.  Bypassing his startled partner, streaming down the slope to the blue water with an energy he didn’t even know he had, he flung off all his clothes and backflipped into the lake, a dive he’d been working on since last summer... in another world.
Hello, freedom. The water was about the only positive, between hot stoves and peeling knives and worrying about TK and babysitting a guy he really couldn’t leave unsupervised.
The water was cool, and supportive, and surrounded him completely. The change in atmosphere was a relief, as thrilling as an escape. He didn’t jump in every night, but the longer they were stuck in this restaurant from digihell, the more Matt was grateful for the lake.
He finished his quick crawl and let the water drip from his eyes. That noise on the bank by his clothes... he’d thought it was Gabumon, but, no. It was him.
Matt re-surfaced where he’d gone in and pushed his hair back from his forehead, treading water. So much for solitude. “Something up, Joe?”
