so how are we feeling about Kakyoin and DIO and the motif of fear
image description below the cut
edit: link to part two, "predator animal fear"
a series of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure screenshots interspersed with a tumblr post from user aweega. The series goes:
Kakyoin with his lip curled in a snarl, holding up bloody hands, quoting DIO to himself: "There's no need to make yourself vomit from fright." then the start of aweega's text post: "characters with prey animal rage"
Kakyoin with his bloody hands fisted, thinking "Damn it! Never again! I will never lose again!". Then text: "characters with both the abject terror and". a close-up of Kakyoin's eyes, wide and unfocused, with sweat dripping from his forehead.
the text continues, "murderous desperation of an animal that knows it is cornered and destined to be eaten." Kakyoin, blood running down his forehead, glaring up at an unseen foe with his chin tucked down and teeth bared.
text: "you just can't get that kind of angst out a successful hunter. but alternatively i posit: predator animal fear. which is a totally different thing"
DIO baring his teeth, panic making his eyes go wide and unfocused despite the snarl the rest of his face is set in. Jotaro stands behind him, asking "How does it feel, Dio?".
#is now a weird time to say I really love how expressive DIO is with the muscles underneath his eye. his Lower Eyelid does so much#tw blood#jojoblogging#kakyoin noriaki#dio brando#yeah. YEAHHHHH.#okay now I'm logging out lol#I just had a moment of brilliance I had to share with the world#jjba#stardust crusaders#live jojoblogging#web weaving

THESE CHEFS ARE ALL MORONS!!!
I GIVE THEM EVERYTHING THEY NEED TO IMPROVE ON AND THEY STILL FAIL! ALWAYS! And it's not because I'm a bad critic. I'm a very good critic. It's because THEY'RE STUPID!!! And then Papa Louie asks, "WhY aREn'T yOu hElPInG tHeM GOod ENoUgh??" Why didn't you teach them how to cook? It's your fault your chef's stupid, NOT MINE.

Predator Animal Fear, a companion to the Kakyoin Prey Animal Rage compilation. sources: 1, 2, 3
image description below the cut.
a series of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure screenshots interspersed with text. The series goes:
white text on a black ground saying "Predator Animal Fear" in all caps. below is a closeup of Dio's face with one enraged eye visible.
wikipedia text saying "Studies have found that the fear of humans can have substantial impacts on animal behavior, including on top predators such as pumas." Image: Dio perched on top of a sign several meters away from Jotaro, looking down at him.
text: "'In general all of the larger species and mammalian carnivores were behaviorally suppressed in one way or another by humans,' Suraci said. Mountain lions reduced their use of areas with the human sounds overall, avoiding the specific speaker locations. They moved slower and more cautiously where they perceived humans to be present." Image: Dio lying on the road, frowning as he listens for Jotaro's heartbeat.
text: "While we readily accept and even understand fear in our equine companions, we rarely look at dogs in the same way. Why? Because dogs are predators? Because they are the ones that, in a natural sense, go after prey and spread fear? Image: Dio's face, grinning, showing his fangs. His red eyes shine.
"But, if you think about it, the food chain doesn't draw a line between the hunter and the hunted, does it? A closeup of Jotaro's eye, hate visible in every line of his face.
"In the end, all living things can fall prey to something bigger and faster, stealthier and smarter, stronger and meaner." Star Platinum snarling, fist drawing back for a punch; in the foreground, Dio bares his fangs, eyes wide with shock.
"Therefore, all animals (and that includes humans and dogs) are also prey animals". the word "all" is bolded. Jotaro looms behind Dio, who is snarling in desperation and panic.
A wide shot of the street with Jotaro standing calmly before Dio, who is lying on his belly, holding his upper body up with his arms to look up at Jotaro. On top of the image itself, between Jotaro and Dio, is large text saying "with prey animal fears."

an unexpected side effect of falling in love with Phantom Blood: whenever I see a post with the words "Jonathan" and "vampire", there's a moment where I think of. these guys.
instead of Dracula.

a bit of JJBA liveblogging / comparison and contrast between Jotaro and DIO, written midway through DIO'S World, Part One:
things DIO has done so far that have been the exact same as what Jotaro does, so far:
uses fear and threats to get people to fold mentally before attacking them physically (DIO invites Polnareff to betray the Joestars and join forces with him again and generally intimidates people into submission; a huge part of his mystique comes from the aura of sheer terror he generates. Jotaro, similarly, wins at gambling on a bluff hand multiple times before meeting DIO, and he often gives his opponents opportunities to back down using threats, e.g. "the next time I see you I'll punch you one thousand times", "if you push that sword in farther it'll be murder", et cetera.)
attacks people with his fists rather than with weapons; has a short-range, high-power Stand (manifestation of the soul), meaning they both like their attacks to be personal
defends himself with pinpoint precision (DIO and Jotaro share an eye for detail and a steady, un-shaking hand) (DIO deflects Emerald Splash by using one finger to cause one gemstone to knock all the others off-course; Jotaro catches swords coming at him in Star Platinum's bare hands)
visibly enjoys it when people show their fear of him (when Jotaro is winning a fight, physical or mental, he smiles in a really unsettling way; Jotaro and DIO share a kind of cruelty, and Jotaro's pleasure in victory is reinforced over and over before he meets DIO)
throws living beings at his enemies (Jotaro threw a dog a few meters; DIO threw a human a few meters & through a car window)
uses sheer force to get his transportation to work (DIO drives on a sidewalk full of pedestrians; Jotaro kicks a motorcycle to get it to work and breaks the chain with his foot, and these scenes are Interposed With Each Other)
things DIO has done that have been different from what Jotaro does:
charms people to get them to submit to him (Jotaro gets people to fold using simple power plays; DIO prefers people to love him, whereas Jotaro actively dislikes being fawned over)
does not show mercy of any sort (Jotaro repeatedly shows mercy, even when it's things like "I broke your finger and I could have just ripped it off; be grateful")
kills and maims his own people
loves the sound of his own voice (Jotaro. does not)
#jojoblogging#it is so fascinating to me that Jotaro and DIO both THROW LIVING BEINGS AT THEIR ENEMIES.... how specific is that

I have found it necessary to provide clarification on yesterday's post, so I have made a chart describing how I feel about each current chef.
There we go.
