Now that the CRS-16 capsule has berthed at the space station with a load of Christmas presents and other essential supplies it's time to look at what we've discovered in the last few days, and clear up a few misconceptions.
In particular I want to thank John Kraus for taking some great photos of the event - which is pretty much exactly what he does -check out his work and support it here: https://www.patreon.com/johnkrausphotos

(more…)

Repost from @johnkrausphotos using @RepostRegramApp - Flame of the Merlins — An abstract look at one of my remote camera frames from last week’s Falcon 9 launch of Bangabandhu-1. This is how dark the sky appears when one of my cameras is set to capture detail in a the rocket’s exhaust trail, which is extremely bright. While this camera was exposed for the flame, my wide camera was set to expose for the rocket and surrounding scenery, meaning detail in the flame is lost. The difference is quite obvious; look at my wide shots I posted a few days ago for a comparison. I posted other frames from this camera on Saturday, and I brought back the brightness of the sky in post-processing in attempt to accurately portray the scene. However, just for fun, I wanted to go for a dramatic, abstract edit of this frame. Enjoy!
