Fellow #HumanHero in training @johnbrancy gave it to me straight the other day. . . “You gotta show up better brother. No more what can your followers do for you. From now on it’s all about what can you do for them. No more doubt. No more fear. You’ve gotta be the rock that The Human-Hero Movement is built on.” . . I am going to show up better for all of you and that means speaking my truth in a world where it’s becoming more and more challenging for a man to do so. . . I try to keep my Instagram authentic without being overly personal. A lot of my friends are going through it right now when it comes to relationships and breakups, and for a very long time, I was too. . . . We all heal in our own ways and in our own time. There’s no manual for how to mend a broken heart - you have to write your own. I think sharing our stories with the intention of healing others is noble, and how we go about doing that requires more introspection than many are willing to sit with. This should never be a place to gossip, bully, or push judgement onto others who have no frame of reference outside of this collection of words and images. Relationships are hard and how much we hurt is directly connected to our capacity to love.... (Continued in comments section.) A few more Carmen pics! Fun fact: there are monitors backstage showing what’s happening onstage, and between chorus numbers a bunch of us circled around to watch in a sort of makeshift movie theater 😅 Was it a perfect performance? Of course not. I totally walked into a box, got whacked in the face by the bullfighter’s cape, and missed an entrance (thank goodness there are like 30 other altos who did sing it lol). I came back to a city that is equally harsh as it inspiring. I saw the beginning of a new life filled with opportunity and joy. I conquered ‘could’ ‘should’ and ‘would’ to set the past free . I am leaving with a strength I thought I lost, but had only forgotten.
