Sammy Hagar plans to revitalize some Van Halen vibes on his upcoming summer tour.
For The Best of All Worlds Tour, Hagar and his bandmates in The Circle – bassist Michael Anthony, a founding member of Van Halen, and drummer Jason Bonham – will be joined by guitarist virtuoso Joe Satriani, who has recorded and performed with Hagar and Anthony in the band Chickenfoot.
The itinerary kicks off on July 13 in West Palm Beach, Florida, and the tour hits a total of 28 cities, concluding August 31 in St. Louis, Missouri. Loverboy will serve as the opening act.
Pre-sales begin on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m., with general on-sale starting Friday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. local. For more information go to RedRocker.com.
Hagar, 76, joined Van Halen as vocalist in 1985 after David Lee Roth left. Hagar also left the band in 1996, but returned for a 2004 tour. Recently, Hagar says he and Anthony decided to perform songs from their days playing in Van Halen at Hagar's annual Birthday Bash last month in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
"We pulled out a couple of them and it was an instant lovefest with the fans from our first riffs," Hagar said in a statement with the tour announcement. "The music we created is going to outlive us all. They deserve to be heard so it's time we go out and serve the fans that music, while we still can."
The four albums of the "Van Hagar" era of the band – 5150 (1986), OU812 (1988), For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991), and Balance (1995) – were recently re-released in newly remastered editions.
“It’s crazy to think that it’ll be 20 years since Mikey and I played these songs with Van Halen on the 04’ Best of Both Worlds Tour,” said Hagar. “With Joe on board, we can take a deeper dive into those years. We’re going to touch on some hits from my entire career but seeing fans old and new really embrace the new collection set off something in Mikey and I."
Joining the band on keyboards and backing vocals is Australian musician Rai Thistlethwayte.

Dreams that I've had recently:
Sora and Kairi's KHIV outfits were revealed, and Sora's was a mix of red and purple and Kairi's was a mix of pink and purple.
...
I dreamt about when Buffy and Angel met up in Buffy season 6/Angel season 3. The two of them were walking hand-in-hand through in the road through a dimly lit neighborhood around midnight, or something like that. And Angel was telling Buffy that she was the one constant in his life--and was just in general being a really good comfort to her, yet not forcing her to say or do anything she didn't want to do. I think they mostly talked, though there was also some touching, and they did go a bit further with each other than they had in a long time. It was a nice dream, and I wish we had gotten something like this in canon, dangit! They both deserved this comfort from each other! Especially Buffy after she got ripped out of Heaven!
...
Angelus, the night before he's going to destroy the world with Acathla, somehow shows up in Buffy's room and acts like he wants to be with her (read: sleep with her) one last time. And this is actually kind of true, but he's also trying to get information out of her to see what she knows about Acathla, and if she has any way of stopping his plan. But Buffy completely shoots him down, because, "Yeah, I totally buy you suddenly wanting to be with me. I've been the one loving you, despite everything, and you've been Joe Negative about me. Yeah right, you've suddenly had a change of heart."
...
This one wasn't recently, but one I may have actually had a year ago or something like that--that I might as well share now (since I'm talking about some Bangel dreams)--about Angel's mom (who was a vampire in the dream) planning to go after Buffy, and him begging her not to. I think this dream happened because I was reading a fic around the time, where this was a thing in it (not so much Angel begging his vamp mom not to go after Buffy), but that his mom was a vamp who wanted to kill Buffy. In this AU, Darla was Angel's mother.
...
Last night, I dreamt that the world had learned about Slayers... and because of that, how they presented themselves to the world was very important (they needed to look at their wardrobe and know that they could trust them). Basically, Buffy and Faith became the fashion police when it came to every other Slayer's outfit. LOL. It was cute and funny.
...
I had a dream that Max Evans from Roswell became a teacher.
...
Also last night, I dreamt both about Bridge to Terabithia/Jess and Leslie--which was both beautiful and sad, as Bridge to Terabithia is--and something about Sydney Bristow from Alias.
I think that's everything I've dreamt lately...
Yeah, I've been having a lot of crazy dreams.

movie must-knows! 2, 3, 19, 21?
[movie asks! I love movies!]
2. Your most rewatched movie.
I used to rewatch movies a lot more before than I do now. When I was a little kid, I watched the Disney animated Cinderella at least once a week on VHS. (I am An Old.) Not animated, I watched A Few Good Men so many times when I was a teenager - especially once TNT/TBS deemed it A New Classic and showed it every weekend when we all still had cable subscriptions - that it nearly got banned in the house. People will tell you that Aaron Sorkin's best work is The West Wing, but they would be wrong. It's the script for this movie, which I do quote a lot. Speaking of which...
3. A movie you quote on a daily basis.
I don't quote anything on a daily basis (because everything is situation specific!) but I quote Clueless at least once a week out of context. And weirdly reference Beavis and Butthead Do America more than you would think?
19. An underrated actress.
A few years ago, Maika Monroe wound up on my most watched list on letterboxd for that year and it's because even if she's not always in the greatest movies, she's always captivating in them! When is she going to be a bigger deal? When are she and Samara Weaving going to be final girls together? Why did she and Joe Keery break up? I have so many questions! I still think about the clamshell e-reader from It Follows all the time.
21. An overrated actor.
He is probably overrated only in the eyes of the Academy because the real ones can see past his thirst for awards, but Bradley Cooper's acting was only ever good as Will Tippin on Alias (relatively...in some scenes...okay, mostly when he was hanging out with Jack Bristow). There is not a single acting nomination that he has ever received that I thought was deserved and as long as he keeps casting himself in vanity projects, he'll never win a damn thing. And although I enjoy watching him in things, there is a...mumbly emo-core sameness to Timothee Chalamet's acting in everything he does (despite being wildly different movies/characters) that makes it difficult for me to forget that he's a hipster who has used a smart phone. He'll still get my money at the box office, but I'm never walking out of a movie thinking "Damn, Lil' Timmy Tim was acting circles around the rest of the cast in this one!"
