Sumusweldo ako ng 200 pesos per day.
Student assistant sa Dean's office ng college of science. 25 php per hr at max of 4hrs lang per day ang duty.
After a week ay nakahanap agad ako ng work bilang kitchen staff.
Nagwork ako as Adas 2 for more than 2 years at ngayon ay mag 3 yrs na as AO 2.
Nagmamahal,
JM Raymundo

Doing In-Person Psychotherapy for the First Time

For the past few weeks, I've been keeping busy with working on my hours for practicum. By the end of this year, I need to hit at least 200 hours of psychotherapy (as well as another 200 for assessment work) so that I can proceed to the next and (hopefully) final phase of my grad school: thesis. When I started practicum last semester, I felt really drained by the difficult learning environment, plus having to do a lot of work isolated from the others (literally and figuratively). I took a break from this semester to regain my mental energy I once had for psychotherapy clients.
Over a month ago, the mental health clinic of our school opted to open psychotherapy services onsite for students wtihin campus. Unsurprisingly, a lot of students did sign up for this and are now receiving their therapies in-person with their therapists (which includes trainees like me). I stepped into this same lane once I began opening this option up to my clients as well. One client has been very keen on seeing me in person as they would prefer seeing another person as they process their problems. I happily obliged to fulfill this request given that I too work much better when I'm not distracted by the quips of remote work.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b3d1532ad2d9df85e83c6de48ebd402a/9f2baef0cc24212c-32/s540x810/d345a2b7079742ee9af4f381a43c1cdf74466922.jpg)

True enough, the difference in experience was night and day. And I would prefer doing onsite therapy because for a couple obvious reasons. On one end, I get to see my clients (and vice versa) for who they present themselves to be. And I mean this not only in the physical way but also in a emotional way. A lot of what I find missing in remote tele-therapy is the ability to read nonverbal cues and other emotional expressions that a camera doesn't capture. I feel more in the flow with the client and get to "dance" with whatever things they throw at me during sessions. There's also the added value of just trying to be present with the client without making extra efforts to reassure them of this fact.
I also had to take time to ready myself and get comfortable with my clients expressing unpleasant or difficult emotions. I noticed that my clients feel safer crying and feeling their feels once we're confined within the same four corners of a safe space. Needless to say, I find delight - not in their suffering - but in the opportunity to create a safe space for them to just be themselves, feelings and all.
I guess the only con of working onsite is the travel and the summer heat. While I'm proud of myself for being on time for my clients' sessions, I can't help but still feel irritated about the "unpleasantries" of Metro Manila traffic, as aggravated by the summer sun. Inasmuch as I want to present myself as professionally (and also aesthetically pleasing way) for my clients, I have to be smart about what to wear and how to bring my belongings with the hassle of public transportation.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5b211e5bbcea8b709e2a35c2bbb58039/9f2baef0cc24212c-4a/s540x810/6d18fcbf93471cd985310e35ad10ed7bf76ac4c9.jpg)

So far, my onsite work has made me realize that I could do therapy -- and that it's something I could develop much more once I get my master's degree. What I am looking forward to is when we fully reintegrate both onsite and remote modalities to interventions. But that's a different avenue of learning altogether. What I'm most excited about, actually, is getting to see a lively clinic again. I get to see more clients and clinicians, and feel that same vibrant energy I once felt in my previous job before the pandemic began.
In the meantime, if you ever see me in campus (if we are in the same school, or you just happen to be there), feel free to say hello.
Take care of your mental health, everyone!

Do you know what the most common bird is in your area? We have many species of sparrows that you’ll find regardless of where you are in the country, but we only ever use the collective term ‘maya’ for all of them.
What last made you feel ecstatic? Yoongi’s tour. My friends and I have been planning our game plans to fly out to Bangkok, Jakarta, or Singapore in the last 24 hours – it’d really depend on where we’d manage to secure tickets, and if we get to secure tickets. We’re also considering Seoul as an extreme last resort, but I want to avoid it as much as possible because visa work is too much work that tbh I’m not willing to go through at this point. In any case...why on earth did they not book a show in Manila :/
What would make you feel happiest right now? Magically getting slots for Yoongi’s concert.
How many teeth have you had extracted? A couple. I have a third one also due but I’ll save that for when it starts hurting.
Do you ever read magazines? I never buy physical copies anymore but if I come across an online article that I’m interested in, then I do read it from start to end.
What is something you've been reflecting on? What I can do to be a better leader for my associates.
What's something you like and dislike about the town you live in? I like that it has all the establishments and stores you’ll also find in Metro Manila without ever having to be in Metro Manila, so it’s super convenient. Dislike... there’s no culture, no nightlife. There’s nothing here that you’ll ever be like, “I drove all the way here for this” for.
What's a Halloween movie that you enjoy? Scream is a good example. I’m not always in the mood for jumpscares (like Paranormal Activity) or visual-centric horror (like The Ring), so Scream hits that perfect middle ground where I don’t feel like hiding under a blanket every 3 seconds. And gore is always a good idea, so.
Would you say you're more confident now than you were 5 years ago? Oh for SURE. I had zero confidence when I was 20! I struggled at making friends, was grossly reliant on my girlfriend at the time, and never raised my hand to speak in class. But my job has since been able to challenge me to push my own limits and lead virtual calls and step up during pitches and things like that, so it’s been a complete 180º switch from 2018.
Have you ever or would you try carrot bacon? I have no idea what that is but I’d also try anything once without having to Google them.
What's the last thing you purchased that was frozen? Ice.
Would you ever walk a runway if given the opportunity? I’ll pass. Doesn’t sound interesting.
When did you last do something that scared you? Last month, after Seonho’s fanmeet. My phone died the moment I started the car to drive back home and I was coming from Pasay (aka completely un-fucking-familiar with the place), so I had to drive entirely from memory. The drive itself wasn’t too scary because I figured I could always ask around for directions – I was honestly more scared of the possibility of my mom trying to call me and the call not connecting because of my dead phone and then her freaking out and thinking of the worse haha. Miraculously enough, she never checked up on me once that night.
What is something that you're curious about? My dad’s work. He works at a cruise liner and is based overseas, so save for the one time he took me to his kitchen when I went on a cruise, I actually have zero clue what he does on a normal day. I think being a chef is super admirable so it’d be cool to shadow him for a day.
What time do you usually eat breakfast? The more appropriate question at least for me would be if I even eat breakfast lol, to which the answer is no. I do make a cup of coffee before I start work, and I get around to that by 9.
What is something you done as a child that you would never do now? Be too shy to ask to go to the restroom and preferring to pee through my clothes altogether instead of having to speak up.
What's been your favorite memory of 2022? Talking to Kimi and saying my I love yous, thank yous, and goodbyes the night before he passed. By that point he hadn’t eaten in the last 3 days and I just knew he wasn’t going to be around in the next 24 hours, so I grabbed the chance to have a 1-on-1 with him once everyone in the house was asleep.
When were you last inside a tall building? Last Thursday, at a hotel for an event.
Is it currently quiet in the room you're in? Nah, my aircon is loud as all hell and I also have the TV on.
Is there someone you can honestly say you hate or have hated? I’ve held feelings of hatred for a number of people, but it usually eventually fizzles out to a perpetual milder state of dislike.
What's currently on your mind? That I really wanna start eating these pretzels beside me right now.
Would you consider yourself to be a messy person? I’m responsibly messy, if we wanna make that a thing hah. I can be very cluttered with my stuff but I always know where every single thing is.
Would those closest to you say you talk too much or not much at all? They’d probably tell you I’m right in the middle. I get self-conscious once I feel like I’ve been blabbering and will usually stop from there.
Do you have a song you cannot listen to anymore due to a bad memory? O by Coldplay. That was during what I’d like to call my suicide watch era, so... obviously personally hard to hear it these days.
Have you ever had a candlelit dinner? I don’t think I have.
What was the last shot you've taken? Second Covid booster.
Do you need to apologize for something or are you waiting on an apology? I always feel like apologizing to my teammates for being super tense at work. Idk why I care so much about my job lol. What's something you strongly believe in? Continued from the other night. That everyone is just like anyone else. Makes it easier for me not to get scared of higher-ups at work or high-profile clients or clients who think they’re hot shit.
Do you have a dream that is close to being accomplished? KIND OF??? I MIGHT SEE YOONGI??? WE’LL SEE.
Would you say you're in a good place mentally? Sure! For the last two years I’ve never been better. I mean I do go through Sunday anxieties, but I try not to let it interfere with my overall mental state. When did you first start feeling more grown up? After my breakup is when I first started to feel like I had to fight for my place in the world. That would be three years ago this year.
What kind of chapstick do you use? I don’t use chapstick.
How many pillows do you prefer to sleep with? Two, but lately I’ve been sleeping with just one – a pillow I hug – because I realized laying my head on a pillow hurts my neck more than anything.
What is something you've kept bottled up for a long time that you now have released? I don’t think I’ve had that kind of release recently.
Have you ever broken a cell phone charger? I’ve broken phone chargers, phone cases, phone screens...I’m historically very shitty with cellphones; it’s a miracle my current phone has lasted this long with me.

The Booming Construction Business in the Philippines: A Look at the Growth and Opportunities
The construction industry in the Philippines has experienced significant growth in recent years, driven by the country's expanding economy and increasing demand for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. The Philippine government has been heavily investing in infrastructure as part of its "Build, Build, Build" program, which has boosted the construction sector's output. This article takes a closer look at the booming construction business in the Philippines, with a focus on the role of House Construction Company Philippines and how they contribute to shaping the future of housing and infrastructure in the country.
Economic Growth and the Construction Boom
The Philippines has enjoyed steady economic growth over the past decade, and this growth has translated into increased demand for both residential and commercial construction. The urbanization of major cities, particularly Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao, has led to the rise of new residential neighborhoods, office buildings, shopping malls, and mixed-use developments. This rapid urbanization has been a key driver for House Construction Company Philippines, as there is a growing need for modern housing solutions to accommodate the country's expanding population.
In addition to residential construction, the Philippine government’s push for infrastructure development has provided ample opportunities for construction companies. Projects such as new roads, bridges, airports, and railways are not only improving the nation's transportation system but are also creating more jobs and economic opportunities within the construction sector.
The Role of House Construction Companies
House Construction Company Philippines plays a crucial role in addressing the increasing demand for quality housing in the country. With a growing population and a rising middle class, there is an urgent need for affordable yet durable homes. Many construction companies are focusing on providing affordable housing options that cater to the needs of various income groups, from low-cost housing to more luxurious developments for higher-income individuals.
One of the key factors contributing to the success of House Construction Company Philippines is the ability to adapt to market trends. With the rise of sustainable and eco-friendly living, construction companies have been incorporating green building practices into their designs. This includes using energy-efficient materials, installing solar panels, and ensuring that homes are built with environmental sustainability in mind.
Additionally, the demand for modern housing designs that offer smart home features is on the rise. Companies are increasingly focusing on integrating technology into homes, offering features such as automated lighting, security systems, and climate control. This trend is especially appealing to the younger, tech-savvy generation that is becoming a dominant force in the housing market.
Opportunities and Challenges in the Construction Industry
While the growth of the construction industry in the Philippines presents numerous opportunities, there are also several challenges that companies face. One of the biggest hurdles is the rising cost of construction materials. The fluctuating prices of steel, cement, and other raw materials can impact project costs, making it challenging for construction companies to maintain profitability while keeping prices affordable for consumers.
Labor shortages are another issue that affects the construction industry in the Philippines. As demand for construction projects rises, there is a need for skilled workers to manage and execute these projects. This shortage of qualified labor can delay construction timelines and increase project costs. However, construction companies are addressing this issue by providing training and skills development programs for workers.
Despite these challenges, the outlook for the construction industry in the Philippines remains positive. The government's continued investment in infrastructure, coupled with the growing demand for housing and commercial properties, presents a wealth of opportunities for construction businesses.
Conclusion
The construction business philippines is poised for continued growth, driven by urbanization, government initiatives, and a rising demand for both residential and commercial properties. The role of House Construction Company Philippines in meeting the growing housing needs of the population cannot be overstated. As the sector evolves, construction companies will continue to innovate, focusing on sustainability, affordability, and technological advancements to meet the demands of the modern Filipino consumer. Despite the challenges that may arise, the construction industry remains one of the most promising sectors in the country’s economic landscape, offering numerous opportunities for growth and development.

Vista Land Bridges Cebuano Heritage and Progress with Valencia by Vista Estates
Mactan Island stands out as a key and highly recognized island within Cebu province, divided between Lapu-Lapu City and the municipality of Cordova.
Lapu-Lapu City manages a significant portion of the island, while Cordova oversees a smaller area on its southern side.
The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) aims to connect Mactan with the southern regions of Metro Cebu, facilitating the growth of property developments like Valencia.
Situated a short distance from the main island, the accessibility to and from Mactan has been dramatically enhanced by recent upgrades to Cebu road infrastructure. The island is linked to Mandaue City, Cebu, through the Marcelo Fernan Bridge and the Mactan-Mandaue Bridge. Additionally, introducing the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cordova aims to further connect the island with the southern regions of Metro Cebu, facilitating the growth of master planned communities.
Mactan has steadily made strides toward economic progress in recent years, proving itself a key player in boosting the local economy of Cebu, particularly in the tourism, manufacturing, and real estate sectors.
Tourism: A Magnet for Visitors
Mactan has long been a paradise for beach enthusiasts who take pride in some of the country's highly-regarded resorts and the recent renovations of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) has bolstered Mactan’s efforts to enhance its capacity to attract more visitors.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/3d38672e258344036ff58724775edc6f/ae861209aeb5efa2-88/s540x810/e2447137b841a17dc45c14fc962931977a0aa961.jpg)
Valencia is a five-hectare multi-tower development in Lapu-Lapu City, radiating a vibrant ambiance reminiscent of the lively hues seen in and around the Queen City of the South.
Mactan now operates the second busiest airport in the Philippines, following Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Metro Manila and serving as a critical gateway to prime vacation destinations in the Queen City of the South. With the return of international travelers and domestic tourists, businesses throughout Cebu are experiencing revitalization, including resorts, hotels, bed and breakfasts, and various shopping and dining establishments.
Manufacturing and Employment: A Growing Industrial Force
Industrialization has significantly transformed the Philippines' metropolitan areas, and Mactan, as part of Metro Cebu, is no exception. Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ), an initiative of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, is a major economic force in the region. Ranking as one of the largest ecozones in the Philippines and second only to the Cavite Economic Zone (CEZ), MEZ hosts a diverse range of operations from tourism and medical tourism to warehousing and manufacturing. Mactan Economic Zone encompasses two economic zones and has attracted PHP 51.5 billion in investments over the past 26 years.
In addition to the Mactan Economic Zone, Mactan is home to General Milling Corporation (GMC), a national leader in consumer food product processing and production. Its operations generate thousands of jobs for locals and enhance Cebu's position within the national manufacturing landscape.
Real Estate: A Premium Investment Opportunity

Over the years, Mactan has undergone significant transformation, evolving from a landscape dotted with residential neighborhoods to exquisite communities offering interconnected living spaces. This shift has positioned Mactan as an ideal location to raise a family in Cebu, attracting real estate investors to develop commercial and residential developments, including strip malls and shopping centers.

The Only Scientist in the Family 👨🔬
What does it feel like to be the only scientist in the family? 🧪🔬
When my grandmother died, all the family members from my mother's side came, including my aunts and uncles, my cousins, and their siblings. In the Philippines, families are typically extended, making family reunions either exhausting or unlikely, especially for very large extended families. At least 2–3 generations of the family tree primarily cover this aspect. 🌳
On one side of the story, there is a comparison of the careers and life choices that your cousins made. Typically, Filipino parents are highly competitive, often comparing you to someone they perceive as doing better, saying things like, "Look at ___; he has a car, a stable job, and great pay and benefits. 🚗💼💰This is a common comment amongst aunts and uncles. Comparison is a natural aspect of family reunions. During the reunion, the metrics of success primarily rely on the number of assets one can present or flaunt (this is how they flex). 💪💼 How much they earn, how many kids they were able to finish college, and how well off they are in terms of their respective careers—for the most part, it focuses on what I call superficial things, mostly tangible (no offense meant). I enjoy conversing with them because my perspective and motivations are quite different from theirs, especially when most of their motivations are different from mine. What motivates you on a completely different level is the desire to leave something for the next generation to explore. 🌱🚀
Just to give you an idea, most of my cousins are seamen (if male) and teachers or managers of fast-food chains (if female). 🚢👨🏫🍔 As part of our culture, we all feel obligated to provide the comfort that our parents didn't have. 🏠 What do our aunts and uncles usually boast about? They often express a sense of pride and ownership regarding their siblings' successes. 💼 Despite facing various challenges within their own families, he or she supported their nephews or nieces in achieving their dreams or completing their education. 🎓 As a result, they tend to boast about how their kids pamper them. 🌟 Many of your cousins' jobs are either highly profitable or offer the greatest financial convenience. 💰 Tracking most of their careers, it is noticeable that I am the only scientist in our entire family (mother’s side). 👩🔬
On my father’s side, however, due to significant disparities in economic opportunities, he is illiterate. It's fortunate for them to have received at least an elementary education. 📚 My father completed elementary school, and according to what I heard from my late grandmother, he excelled academically, often ranking at the top of his class. 🎓 But since my dad wanted to help his family (his sister, brother, and mother), he grabbed the chance to ride the ship and sail to the new place of Metro Manila. ⛴️ His uncle started a photolithography business, and he recruited most of his nephews for job opportunities and ventures. According to what I heard from my grandmother, my dad is the son of a carnival owner in Cebu. 🎪 My dad, as a maiden child, was asked to live with my grandfather. I often hear this story, and I see it as a good opportunity for my dad to explore new ventures. However, I sensed some resentment because my dad also had to fend for his family on his own. 😔 This is a unique trait among Filipinos in general. They have this sense of pride and responsibility to show how independent they are. 🇵🇭 Most of my dad’s relatives are fishermen; their swimming skills determined their success, depending on how many fish they could catch. 🎣 But sadly, this can’t support and provide better opportunities for them since there are lots of factors involved when it comes to the number of fish that they can harvest from their respective nets. 🌊
Being with my relatives raised common questions about my salary and benefits. 💰 They often teased me, while few understood your true intentions or how much you wanted to contribute. 🤔 Your intrinsic drive for the quest that tests human boundaries is remarkable. 🚀 A middle-class background doesn't necessarily shield families from these persistent issues. 💼 You feel like you are the only one who is out of touch with the reality of the present time. 🕰️ You always think ahead since, for the majority of your work, you have deliverables to accomplish, as set by the funding agency that allowed you to ride your own mission. 📊 When you take part in something that your relatives think is pointless, you have no choice but to look for the support that will help you propel yourself to live up to your dream and vision that maybe someday everything that you have been doing right now will make sense. 🌟
Being the only scientist in the family is a unique experience that comes with its own set of challenges and rewards. It's an opportunity to bridge the gap between science and everyday life, helping to foster a greater appreciation for scientific inquiry within your family. 🔬👩🔬🌱

Life Update: December 2023
It has been a while since I last posted an entry in this blog. It is almost the end of the year 2023, and since my last posting a lot of things have already occured, and at the same time despite the fact that I do not currently have a job since February 2023, I still continue to busy myself with several things such as writing a journal, learning Japanese language on 2 mobile applications, reading a bible plan, and watching videos on Youtube to keep me occupied on a daily basis. On weekends, I have the opportunity to spend quality time with my family and we go to familiar places around Metro Manila to relax, unwind, and gain new and meaningful experiences.
My daily journal is rather helpful in detailing the things and experiences that I do daily, even if it is only short. Unlike last May 2023, I no longer watch NBA videos on Youtube and I even unsubscribed in their channel. On the other hand, I re-ignited my passion for foreign travel particularly Japan travel and I have subscribed in a Japan travel channel and surprisingly I was able to watch all of the channel's uploaded videos. There is also an increase in the amount of our family city and provincial travel for the 2nd half of the year, as we have went to several places to visit relatives and attend important occasions.
This year has also seen my application as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) initiated yearly by the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines. I was able to see the Embassy once again upon submission of documents and I do hope that I might get shortlisted in the process. If ever that will happen I need to prepare for an interview and teaching demonstration. Best of luck on my end.
For the first time in my life, I was able to attend multiple sessions of the Oshaberi Salon, an almost monthly event held by The Japan Foundation, Manila last October to December 2023 that aims to train the Nihongo (Japanese) speaking skills of all the attendees and form connections with each other by means of communication and activities. I enjoyed all of the meetings that I have attended so far, and I also learn how to socialize and mingle with other like-minded individuals who share the same interest. It was truly amazing events and we even received freebies at the end of every event. I plan to attend all sessions next year as well.
In conclusion, there are a lot of experiences this year that I could no longer mention in this entry, but as I have said before, I maintain a daily journal which summarizes the things that happened in my life for a day, so at least there is a record. Hopefully, we could all close this year with a happy and contented heart despite the challenges and hardships that we face daily. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2024 to all!
