The White Sox At A Glance- The White Sox are trying their best to avoid a 100-loss season. They need to win one game of this series to avoid that tedious mark, but they haven’t been playing well lately. Chicago has lost four of their last five games and are limping in the season’s final series. Daniel Palka has been an amazing story for the Sox this year. He is hitting just .238, but has 27 home runs and 66 RBI’s. The Twins let him go for nothing and now he will get votes for Rookie of the Year. Jose Abreu was consistent all year long. He has a .265 average with 22 homers and 78 RBI’s. He has been a solid hitter ever since he came into the league in 2014. Old friend Ryan LaMarre is hitting .303 with the Sox after the Twins inexplicably designated him for assignment. Michael Kopech is having Tommy John surgery and will miss basically all of next year. The flamethrower was just getting to the big leagues for the Sox. Chicago has used a closer by committee since trading Joakim Soria. Nate Jones has five saves, Jace Fry has four, and even Hector Santiago has two saves. Juan Minaya is having a nice year in that bullpen. He has a 3.40 ERA in 50 games this year.

The Twins At A Glance- The Twins head into the final series of the year with some steam. They beat the Tigers in two out of three games at Target Field and are ten games below .500. The Twins offense put up 20 runs in the last two games of the series against the Tigers in two winning efforts. Willians Astudillo just keeps on hitting. He has a .357 average this year and seems to get two hits every game this month. Robbie Grossman has a .317 average in the month of September. He has gotten the majority of the playing time with Eddie Rosario out with the quadriceps injury. Eddie Rosario and Miguel Sano are shut down for the season. Mitch Garver can’t catch, but can play in the field. The team activated Aaron Slegers off the disabled list in the hopes that he can pitch in one of the last games of the year. Matt Magill has done better this month with a 3.52 ERA. His slider is back to where it was earlier in the year. Taylor Rogers has a scoreless streak of 23 2/3 innings. 

What To Watch For- The Twins are (8-7) against the Sox this season, which is too close for a team as bad as Chicago. Reynaldo Lopez is (1-0) with a 3.60 ERA in three starts against the Twins. Jose Berrios is (6-1) with a 2.24 ERA in eight career starts against the Sox. Lucas Giolito is (2-2) with a 3.82 ERA in five games against the Twins. Carlos Rodon is (5-2) with a 3.44 ERA in eight starts versus the Twins. Kyle Gibson is (6-4) with a 3.03 ERA in thirteen starts against the Sox. Will this be the last series of the career of Joe Mauer? He will give retirement some thought this winter and Paul Molitor even asked him if he wanted to manage one of the game’s on Friday. What a career it’s been. This might be our last look at Matt Belisle in a Major League uniform. Ervin Santana, Logan Morrison, and others might be on other teams next year. Here’s to the last series of the year folks!

The Royals At A Glance- The Kansas City Royals are sputtering at the wrong time in the season. KC has lost six out of their last seven games and the offense has been historically bad. They have scored eleven runs in the past seven games! The Royals were on a scoreless streak of 45 innings until Whit Merrifield homered on Tuesday night. We last saw the Royals on July 2nd and they’ve made a few moves since then. They traded for Trevor Cahill, Ryan Butcher, Brandon Maurer, and Melky Cabrera. Trevor Cahill, Neftali Feliz, Joakim Soria and Danny Duffy are on the disabled list with injuries. The Royals did make some September call-ups. Ned Yost said he would have a first wave on September 1st then have more later in the month. He has not announced who will be called-up, but Cam Gallagher, Hunter Dozier, Raul Mondesi, Terrence Gore, and Jorge Soler are options on the 40-man roster. Lorenzo Cain had four hits in the Rays series this week and is hitting .290 on the year. Ian Kennedy had a short start on Monday, so his start on Saturday is in jeopardy. The Twins will miss ace Jason Vargas in this series. Kelvin Herrera has been used twice since August 22nd, so he’ll either be well rested or rusty.

The Twins At A Glance- The Twins are rolling after a sweep of the Chicago White Sox this week. They won their 20th game in August and reached that mark for the first time since May of 2015. The team made some September call-ups for this series. They recalled Buddy Boshers and Nik Turley from Rochester. Hector Santiago was placed on the 60-day disabled list to clear a 40-man spot for Niko Goodrum. Santiago’s season is not over, but the Twins used it as a formality to clear a spot. Santiago is still rehabbing with Adalberto Mejia at Rochester. Niko Goodrum hit .265 with thirteen homers and 66 RBI’s for the Red Wings. He was a bright spot for the Twins in spring training and can play almost anywhere. This year he played first, second, short, third, left, center, and right field. This is just the first wave of call-ups with the second wave taking place after Rochester’s season ends, but they are in the playoff race. Joe Mauer is on fire as of late. He is hitting .400 on this nine-game hitting streak. He is now 49 hits away from 2,000 on his career with 29 games left in the season. Byron Buxton was out Thursday with a sore hand. There is good news the hamate bone is not broke and just bruised. He should get a day off or two and be back. Alan Busenitz has a 12 2/3 innings scoreless streak and Paul Molitor is giving him bigger innings. Joe Nathan will officially retire on Friday at Target Field.

What To Watch For- The Twins are (8-4) against the Royals in 2017. The Twins are (5-1) at Target Field this year. These two teams will play seven out of the next ten days. Dillon Gee gets the start against his former team on Friday. He had one start against them in 2013 and went seven innings allowing one run. Jason Hammel is (2-3) with a 5.26 ERA in ten games against the Twins. Ian Kennedy is (4-3) with a 4.42 ERA in ten starts against the Twins. Brian Dozier has two homers off Kennedy in his career. Kyle Gibson is (5-4) with a 3.79 ERA in thirteen starts against the Royals. Salvador Perez has two homers off him. Ervin Santana is (6-10) with a 4.59 ERA in 23 starts against his former team. Eric Hosmer has four homers off Ervin, while Alex Gordon and Mike Moustakas have to each. Salvador Perez has 14 of his 108 career home runs at Target Field.

【MLB】印地安人王座　雙城來挑戰？─2018年美聯中區季前概述

儘管上季再度與金盃緣慳一面，但印地安人新球季仍具有���足競爭力，不過「笑臉人」想要連莊龍頭，得先問過去年異軍突起的雙城，在投打皆有不俗補強下，美聯中區王座會換人當嗎？

克里夫蘭印地安人

印地安人連兩年取得分區龍頭，去年更是寫下22連勝夢幻紀錄，休賽季雖然流失過去幾季角色吃重的中繼投手Bryan Shaw和一壘手Carlos Santana、外野手Jay Bruce，卻也延攬Yonder Alonso因應，維持一定程度的競爭力。

打線以年輕的Francisco Lindor、Josè Ramírez為核心，外野手Bradley Zimmer擁有速度和傑出的打擊能力，滿滿潛力能否轉化為實績，攸關整體打線能否更上一層樓。

由Corey Kluber、Carlos Carrasco、Trevor Bauer等人領銜，印地安人輪值堅強無比，也是征戰球季的主要武器，Andrew Miller與Cody Allen一左一右的後防時常澆熄對手反攻氣焰，另外值得留心的是他倆的合約都只到今年，意味著印地安人想衝擊冠軍，今年球季會是關鍵中的關鍵。

明尼蘇達雙城

2016年「爐主」之姿的雙城，竟在去年搖身一變、取得外卡資格，如此戲劇性的發展更讓他們寫下歷史（大聯盟史上第一次「前一年百敗、隔年季後賽」的球隊），Paul Molitor於季後拿下美聯最佳總教練。

參與大谷翔平爭奪戰失敗、競逐達比修有無功而返，仍透過交易向光芒換來Jake Odorizzi升級輪值，讓Ervin Santana季初得缺陣的影響降到最低，除此之外，仍寄望Jose Berrios能更加蛻變、增加穩定度以讓雙城走得更遠。另一方面，雙城在牛棚補強也下足功夫，「新同學」Fernando Rodney、Addison Reed和Zach Duke都有過關門經驗，將組成後援勝利方程式。

Miguel Sano傷癒復出、Logan Morrison進駐DH…只要Brian Dozier和Byron Buxton維持火燙手感，雙城的打線威脅性十足。 

堪薩斯皇家

皇家去年明星賽後一度還在外卡競爭圈，可惜隨著先發輪值的疲乏漸行漸遠，最終以80勝82敗結束球季，在數名主力如一壘手Eric Hosmer、外野手Lorenzo Cain出走後，皇家2015年的奪冠榮光已不復見。

皇家以短約與游擊手Alcides Escobar、三壘手Mike Moustakas再續前緣。Moustakas去年入選明星賽、扛38轟破隊史單季新猷，將和新任一壘手Lucas Duda串聯得分火網。上季19轟34盜的Whit Merrifield則被看好扮演稱職的開路先鋒。

左投Danny Duffy球威不惡 有不錯的三振能力，毫無疑問是輪值王牌，另一名年輕投手Jakob Junis也是黑馬候選人。 

芝加哥白襪

去年交易大限前先送走優質先發Jose Quintana，再送走David Robertson和Tommy Kahnle兩位強力牛棚以及Todd Frazier，正式宣告白襪步入重建之路，雖然今年很難在美聯中區有所作為，不過未來的農場戰力是很可觀的。

休季期間除了簽下生涯80轟的捕手Welington Castillo和老字號後援投手Joakim Soria之外，幾乎就沒其他重點補強了。打線砲管最大的當屬古巴重砲Jose Abreu，他去年達成菜鳥年起連4季打點破百紀錄，將肩負進攻重任，若本季維持不錯表現，也有機會被當成交易籌碼。

由24歲Tim Anderson和22歲Yoan Moncada組成的二游防線給人無限想像空間，速度與長程火力都能有所產出，Anderson去年貢獻17轟15盜，Moncada的盜壘能力更是有目共睹。範圍廣大Adam Engel鎮守中外野是令人安心的存在。輪值部分則可以期待Lucas Giolito、Reynaldo López兩位年輕小將奮力破繭而出。

底特律老虎

老虎去年將近年來的代表性王牌Justin Verlander交易出去，宣告進入「後虎王時代」，最後戰績在美聯敬陪末座，也取得2018年選秀的狀元籤。休季期間的主要補強是左打外野手Leonys Martin，有7年資歷的他可望扛起中外野守備重任。另外也簽下Mike Fiers和Francisco Liriano兩位具備豐富經驗的先發進駐輪值。

主砲Miguel Cabrera將在四月滿35歲，上季他不但中斷連7年獲選明星賽，結算16轟、60打點也都是菜鳥年以來最差數字，今年能否振作，左右老虎命運。39歲老將Victor Martinez進入合約最後一年，有可能打完今年就退休。小將Jeimer Candelario值得注意，他去年因交易案從小熊轉至老虎（小熊換來捕手Alex Avila和左投Justin Wilson），出賽27場，打進13分打點，打擊率高達0.330。

輪值由24歲Michael Fulmer打頭陣，這是他的第3個大聯盟球季，目前累計21勝19敗、防禦率3.45。終結者則是去年71出賽、9救援、防禦率2.66的Shane Greene。
