Philippa & Dijkstra friendship AH. They both think the other one is the pet and they’re both right. Dijk is Phil’s loyal dog that she dresses in studded collars and feeds red meat to with a kiss on his forehead. Phil is Dijk’s cageless bird that he always keeps a window open for, and always has a mouse in his pocket to keep her full. She walks him on a leash, he carries her on a finger.

The respect they have for each other is always laced with a level of condescension and uneven ideas of superiority, but it’s also genuine and more than anything it’s safe. Mostly.

“I love you because it amuses me and it makes this bullshit life a little easier, you love me because I keep you fed, you poor thing.” Type of narrative. AND they’re exes.
