Jitao, known by his 8k instagram followers at jitao_art, is a Filipino-American oil pastel artist. He describes his style in his profile at "light, shadow and colour in oil pastel." Here are some examples of his work

Every time Jitao's work appears in my feed i am reminded colour can be alot more expressive than I tend to make it in my own work. Jitao has a clearly great understanding of colour and how to use it appropriately and creatively to construct interesting, unique, and inspiring art. One of my favourite parts of his work is his backgrounds. Because of how amazing the subject is drawn its easy to look iver the background however his layering if colours adds so much interest to his work.

I love using oil pastels, and I find it very beneficial to expose myself to different processes and styles of art using oil pastels. My use of oil pastels has definitely changed slightly and my skills have improved from doing this. and while my use of colour is generally on the more realistic side, artists like this remind me that colour has so many more used than that.
