OKAY FINALLY FINISHED I'VE BEEN HOLDING ONTO THIS ASK ROSE

so I definitely have Thoughts on arcane that I'll throw under the cut

ok. so overall I really really liked the show. I got a LOT spoiled for me before I watched it (even though I tried to avoid spoilers it just kept ending up on my dash) so that might be why I was okay with some of the more 'controversial' writing choices since I already knew they were coming. like I knew that Vander was still alive going into s2 and was going to come back, I knew Isha was going to die, I knew Jinx was going to die, I knew Viktor and Jayce were going to have a Madoka Magica-esque homoerotic ascending into the universe kind of ending so like I had a lot of knowledge going into it

I've seen a lot of criticism about Isha's death feeling pointless and while I get where that's coming from, personally I didn't mind it because of the drastic change it sparked in Jinx's character. you could argue she was already going in this direction anyway with realizing that she had to step up and do things to help others and that Isha didn't need to die for that, but personally I still think it made sense. I do wish they had spent a little more time fleshing out Jinx's role as an older sister/mother figure to Isha and how that probably changed her perspective of Vi because there's no way that didn't affect how she looked back at her childhood memories with Vi now understanding what it was like to be in Vi's shoes. but I get it, they only had limited time so I'm not, like, upset about it.

however, I do think I have an issue with Jinx dying as a writing choice. while I do appreciate the 'poetic' nature of it with Vander finally getting to rest and one of his daughters needing to take him down, I also think it just didn't need to happen? Jinx and Vi could've both pushed him off the platform and Jinx could've tossed one of her bombs down after him. while I understand the character arc of her sacrificing herself for Vi, I think we'd already reached that point of her character growth by her teaming up with Ekko and joining the final battle and fighting side by side with her sister in the first place. it definitely felt like Jinx's death was kind of just thrown in because the writers wanted to make it feel more like a bittersweet ending than anything else. I will say though, I do understand that Jinx's ending was going to be a tricky one for the writers to figure out no matter what. she did, yknow, commit an act of terrorism and murder several politicians so it would still feel weird for her to get off scot free after that, but maybe she could've just left Piltover/Zaun entirely and gone off to explore the world or something. I just think there were alternatives the writers could've considered.

those were my main issues with the show though. otherwise I really really loved it. call me controversial but I love Caitlyn and Vi and their whole messed up thing going on. I definitely feel like Vi joining the enforcers in Act 1 was REALLY strange for her but I do feel like it was a character choice that made sense after the terrorist attack at the funeral and also everything she'd just recently been through with her sister. Now do I think she would've gone along with Caitlyns' gassing plan... ehhhh debatable but I'm going to let it slide.

But Caitlyn I adore because she's such a messy character. Yes, I like the cop because I like that she's a really shitty person. I like how she's written, sue me. I loved seeing her good intentions and morals get so twisted in s2. I think it was incredibly fucked up of her to use the gas against the Zaunites to try and hunt Jinx down and it's a great example of how horribly messed up she was by her mother's death! And I think her entire dynamic with Ambessa was so well done. Caitlyn was mourning her mother and angry and desperate to find a direction to put that anger in, and Ambessa, a mother, hands her an army and tells her what direction to point her anger in. I've seen some people argue about whether Caitlyn was aware she was being manipulated by Ambessa or not because of that scene where Vi points out to her that Ambessa was doing that and Caitlyn says "I know" and to me it seemed very clear that Caitlyn was saying that she knew she was being manipulated only in retrospect, not during it.

Like, I'm not over here trying to defend Caitlyn's dictator arc or say she gets an excuse because she was manipulated. She still had choice and agency and did some very terrible things but I think it's fascinating how she got to that point and I can understand the circumstances that altered her mind to get to that place. And again, I think it's very important to recognize that Caitlyn had just lost her mother who she had a very complicated relationship with, while Ambessa was a mother herself and while she might not have been traditionally motherly, she definitely positioned herself as a mother-type figure towards Caitlyn in terms of giving her guidance and wanting to push her in the direction she wanted. Caitlyn was such a moral part of the show in s1 so I just really loved seeing how twisted she got in s2.

Okay I rambled a lot about Caitlyn but I have a lot of feelings about her. I like really well-written bad people with good intentions. This is very long now but I have soooo many thoughts about this show and I really loved it even if I do have a few issues here and there. The animation and music and characterization of everyone was so good and I had such a fun time watching it. Also just, so many incredible female characters. They're all so different and complicated and arghhhhhh yes this show is incredible with its women. I haven't even gotten to Mel and how much I love her or Sevika and how she's my favorite female dad figure lmao. But very good show overall!!!

for me, zeus is gangplank, yone, and jayce. his gp is fucking insane and it hasn't been meta since 2022 and i miss watching gp SO MUCH. riot where is he?? my choice of yone is primarily for his botlane play during 2022 worlds semifinals vs jdg during game 2. yeah. that just imprinted in my brain i fear. jayce is self-explanatory i think? i don't have a particular play associating with it but he loves jayce. i associate jayce with him, not AS him, but as like. he's in love with jayce. i think i have a minimum of 2 fics joking about zeus being in a parasocial one sidedrelationship with him. that's his computer bf right there.

for oner, i'd say viego. (nocturne is the runner-up here.) again. 2022. specifically 2022 msi semifinals vs g2 game 1. that play toplane where he got a triple kill. yep that's oner. funnily enough, while viego is on top of oner's list, oner isn't top of viego's list for me. like when i think of oner champs i go viego. when i think of viego players i think of... elyoya. RAT! no one asked but elyoya is qiyana and viego in my brain.

faker is ryze. that's bc of um. 2022 semifinals vs jdg. he's just a ryze guy what can i say. like ahri, yes, as a secondary. ahri is also very chovy! ahris is chovy and faker equally. faker is primarily ryze tho. srry not sorry.

guma is jinx and cait. he has a lot of good champs tho like.. aphel and xayah and varus >>? idk. but i just mainly associate him with jinx bc of his own outspokenness toward it, and cait bc the worlds 2022 incident (PERMABANNED XDD LMAOOOO)

keria is tamh kench, renata glasc, and lux. thresh after those three, sue me, but i didn't become a fan when like thresh was meta (i arrived in the fandom at msi 2022, okay, not spring 2022.) tk and renata = worlds 2022. lux is just. his lux is so good man. i want a keria lux skin. i feel like i would associate him with bard IF i became a fan at 2023 worlds, but i didn't, so its not nearly as notable for me. but man, keria just has a champ ocean (they all do tbh) its hard to pick.

as for a fic with t1 as champions... its a possibility! im not going to rule it out. i already dipped my toes in proplayers as champions with my kindred fic for chovy and showmaker. i also have a runeterra au, but in that one my characters are all runeterrean npcs, not actual champions. keria is some demon of obsession, guma and oner are from rural demacia, faker is from ionia, and such. i'd have to like, figure out a plot first, but yeah a fic with t1 as champions/having champion abilities is definitely a possibility from me :> tysm for the support and the submit!! ily have a great day <3

ooooh so @missing-tony tagged me to share my top 5 911 episodes, so here we go 😌

1. Jinx 4x06: hands down one of the funniest episodes of the series. everyone is at their stupidest, zero braincells involved. Ravi my love is introduced. we find out Josh is in a groupchat with the firefam. Chimney's death glare. backwards hat Buck. a moment of silence for cap's baked macaroni.

2. Chimney Begins 2x12: so. much. crying. it's been three years and I still couldn't fully rehydrate myself after that. Chimney is bleeding out somewhere in the present, while the show is introducing us new characters in the past just so they can traumatise us all over again. classic 911 move.

3. The Taking of Dispatch 9-1-1 3x14: legendary. I loved the shift of focus to the dispatch center. Maddie was badass. Sue was badass. Josh was badass. great episode all around, good character development, good action, good story.

4. Ocean's 911 2x15: the first episode of the iconic Michael-Bobby duo. the drama, the mystery, the police interrogation scene, Athena cackling at the thought of the firefam pulling off a heist, Buck's "I'm so confused. Can you start over?", Chimney being pissed bc he *just* finished tidying up his place and the police is now messing that up. perfect.

5. Treasure Hunt 4x12: Ravi my love is back. Eddie is Jealous™. Taylor and Buck teaming up. Hen and Chim teaming up. Bobby pretending not to care and trying to hide his madness board from Athena. Ravi going full Mariah Carey "I don't know them" about the firefam. Buck and Eddie and Maths™. the twists and turns and lack of braincells used! unparallelled.

On Reader and OC

I just want to say, even though I personally have always leaned towards canon and close to canon ships and I actually like the challenge of trying to wrap my brain around how ships that are very starcrossed lovers and impossible in canon and trying the picture what would happen that they could work (Ekko and Jinx being an example), I want to say, I totally respect the Character X Reader and Character X OC trend. 

There used to be a time when Mary Sue was considered the ultimate slur, but ni the end, I feel that yeah, there are bad writing habits associated with writing oneself into a story, I feel like ultimately it was a majorly unhealthy thing to slap people down for. 

It comes across like trying to shit on somebody’s self confidence that they are  disgusting that they would imagine themselves in these cool worlds and imagine these characters they obviously admire falling in love with them. 

Like I feel ultimately, reversely, it sounds to me like potentially confidence boosting for people to imagine themselves loved and having cool adventures rather than self denying their own urges, minimizing them and projecting themselves into other characters (I remember reading some theorizing on the appeal of M/M for straight women and why they would self insert in a male character rather than a female character from canon that did give me some real self-hate-y vibes, like “I couldn’t self-insert myself into the canonical female love interest because she was too pretty and perfect” that just made me sad [again not saying that that was the only or even main one, you also read plenty of “there were no female characters so I projected on the male character” or “the female characters were flat and poorly written compared to the richness of the male characters” in addition to of course “it’s like straight guy attraction to f/f, one guy hot, two guys hotter”). 

Anyway, in as so much as there is some people willing to admit that self-projection is going on, again it seems just very self-affirming and brave to just go all the way and go reader/OC. 

Especially since if people are projecting their own issues into a character that doesn’t always lead to great writing either, if they have a vision of a character or dynamic they want and just bend the characters to fit that even if it’s a stretch when just doing an OC just solves that whole problem because you can just design them to be perfect for the dynamic. 

Also, when it comes to Reader vs OC, I also think it’s a cool appraoch because to me the problem with a lot of OC stuff has always been to me how to sell it to the reader, like the story is just less appealing probably as the reader when it’s about you the writer and the desired canon character, because I the reader don’t know or care about you the author, I don’t have a readon to be invested in you and your happiness and things that are resonant to you might not be resonant to me. And at the same time, the requirements of trying to make a new character appealing to an audience are very different from just wanting to jump in and getting to the good stuff. 

The “Reader” phenomon seems to me an interesting appraoch to me to make that kind of story acceessible to readers other than oneself. (though admittedly, I read neither enough OC or Reader fic to confidently say anything about what kind of tropes and habits they share or don’t share). I tend to imagine that trying to keep it Reader on the other hand then might cause problems in other areas and present some roadblocks in the kinds of stories you might want to tell. 

Sidenote: talking about Arcane in particular, to me that seems one canon that feels particularly ripe for reader/oc because it hinges on so many characters having deep psychological and emotional problems and blind spots and at the same time within the setting it often seems hard to buy that any of the other characters would have the knowledge or language to even understand and point that out to each other. Like structurally it’s a tragedy that relies on people barely missing each other and communicating badly, I can see how the emotional need might arise to go “I can just jump into the canon and fix them! I can fill those glaring needs!”. (again I doubt all or even most Reader/OC fic is based on that motivation, but this kind of “hole” existing in canon I can imagine helping with those stories maybe feeling more long term fitting/relevant)

Like to take Silco for example, with the constant “yeah he loves Jinx, but he was a bad father” debates, I can see why somebody might jump in “okay, so he has the right intentions, so what if somebody came in and just told him/taught him how to be a better father which he probably on some level does want to be!” (again in canon he is basically defined by how that would never happen because he doesn’t trust people and fears betrayal from everybody, but of course from a fan/author POV that is clearly just a fun challenge)

Or maybe I’m just talking out of my ass on a fic genre I very rarely read. :p I’m sure there is probably way more competent meta on the phenomenon that I have read exactly zero on, this is just my gut reaction as a person who remembers fandoms where self insertion was still sneered on.

It had been a long day at work when Dr. Gertrude-Sue Claws made her way home to do the one thing that relaxed her; writing fanfiction.

She had thought of the perfect idea for Spirit and Rainbow Dash and her fingers flew across the keyboard.

There was something about the multi colors in his mane and tail that drew him to her. He lived by the phrase, “hump ‘em and dump ‘em,” which he planned on doing with Rainbow Dash, but not without consent because horse jail wasn’t fun. He had heard the horror stories from his human friends, Kurns and Bryce.

“Rainbow Dash,” he neighed.

“Spirit…” She neighed back in response, she knew all about his...extracurricular activities. He was the biggest fuck horse out of the herd. Ever since Rain had died from drowning, god bless, he hadn’t been the same. It was also why he paid more attention to Rainbow Dash because she had Rain in the first part of her name.

“Let’s do this,” he smirked with his horse mouth.

“Fine…” She turned her back to him as he reared on his hind legs and mounted her, letting out a series of neighs.

She laughed silently to herself before moving on her Owen Hunt fic and she knew how much she was going to enjoy this one especially.

Owen was walking through the halls when he saw five women stalking towards him like cats, one even had whiskers drawn on her face. “Anitah with the h, get him!” He heard one of them command and watched as she came up to him, kicking him in no man's land. He felt them drag him into an empty exam room.

“MAROE! You got the chainsaw?”

“Nah bruh, Bears and Rams were in charge of that,” she explained.

Anything but Krista, cocked her half shaved eyebrow at Burns and Ella. “Y’all got the chainsaw?”

“No, but I have the cream for the burn I’m about to inflict,” Burns snickered to herself at her own joke, the others joining in before getting back to business.

“Burns, Ella, go scope out the cafeteria for some good food because I can’t kill in good faith on an empty stomach and as me and Ella say, we always get food first,” Anything but Krista said, turning her attention to the two people left, throwing them both a knife. Then proceeded to stab Owen numerous times, but making sure not to hit any major organs yet.

“We need a blender,” Anitah with the h announced.

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Anything but Krista and MAROE said at the same time, looking at each other and bursting into laughter at the jinx.

“If that was making a human smoothie, then yes. We’ll show him that no one messes with Derek Christopher Shepherd,” Anitah with the h said smugly, pulling a blender out from behind her back and plugging it into the wall.

“You...you pulled that out of your jacket?” MAROE asked in a surprising tone.

“Y’all don’t keep blenders in yours?” Anitah with the h asked as if that wasn’t common, but it was good to know that she was always prepared.

Suddenly, the walkie talkie came to life, “Team Bears/Rams to Team CA, what y’all want from here? Over and out.”

“Team CA to Team Bears/Rams, we want CookOut. Over and out.” Anything but Krista responded. “It’s about time y’all tried a little piece of heaven,” she looked at Anitah with the h and MAROE.

“That’s a negative ghost rider, the closest CookOut is on the other side of the country. Over and out.”

“Well you better get on your way because you two also need to try a little piece of heaven, we’ll save the good stuff for when you get back. Over and out.” The trio resumed their slice and dice game, taking a short break to play Choices because the latest chapter of The Nanny Affair had just been released and even Owen wasn’t going to keep them away from Sam Dalton.

A couple hours later, Burns and Ella arrived with the food, handing out their respective trays to their respective orderers, they were able to keep the milkshakes from melting by their cold hearts.

“Ahhh gimme my milkshake,” Anything but Krista snatched it from Burns’ hand, earning a slap on her hand from her adoptive mother and a threat of taking away her pony...again.

“Yooo this shake hits different,” Ella exclaimed.

“You could even say that it slaps,” MAROE added making her squeak.

“It’s the one good thing North Carolina has to offer for me,” Anything but Krista chimed in, fist bumping Anitah with the h because the struggle was real. The cows really did outnumber the people, they just hoped that there wouldn’t be a cow revolution because that would be awful except the yeehaw folk would probably survive since they did have a song called “A Country Boy Can Survive.” 

“Burns, we left you the honor of picking the perfect weather for us to dispose of the body which is more like liquid at this point. We need rain, thunder, and lightning to erase all of the evidence. Watching “Forensic Files” has finally come in handy. And Ella, we need you to pretend to be a nurse or something to help us get out of here. I’ll be honest, I haven’t thought that far ahead…” Anything but Krista admitted, but they expected that from her so they already had a plan in place.

“If anyone happens to see Derek Shepherd, I ask that you tell me,” MAROE added.

“Not if I find him first,” Anything but Krista said.

“He’s like fifty four years old…” Burns said being ever the good adoptive mother.

“Then I call Spencer Reid!” Anything but Krista exclaimed.

“I have Lucifer then,” MAROE challenged knowing that would get under her skin. 

“Children, calm yourselves.” Burns shook her head.

“Hey, I’ll be eighteen in like a number amount of months,” Anything but Krista said.

“I’Ll Be EiGhTeEn BeFoRe YoU,” she repeated, placing her hands on her hips and doing that Spongebob meme. After thinking of a better comeback, she grabbed her knife she used on Owen earlier and plunged it into MAROE’s back.

“Et tu, Brute?” MAROE said with shock in her voice before her body crumpled on the ground.

“Yes, bye bitch.”

The other three just stared as the blood drained from her body before turning their attention to Anything but Krista. They were the epitome of 👁👄👁.

“What? She wanted to “due” anyway. And at her funeral we can play “To Be So Lonely” because well she will be lol.”

“Anywaysss, we gonna get food or what?” Ella asked as she covered Owen’s body with a sheet.

“Wings?” Burns suggested and they all agreed. After arriving at the restaurant, they were very shocked to see MAROE sitting at a table waiting for them.

“It’s the trying to kill me for me,” she said upon taking their seats, glaring at Anything But Krista specifically.

“It’s the stealing my fictional husbands for me,” she retaliated.

“It’s the acting like children for me,” Burns' authoritative voice came.

“Sorry,” they both murmured as they looked over the menus to order their food. The rest of their lunch going smoothly, their victims already forgotten about. Don’t mess with hangry chicks who hate Owent Cunt.

“So who’s next?” Anitah with the h asked.

“Ahh you’ve gotten the first taste of blood and now you’re addicted,” Burns observed. She would make for a good profiler for the FBI at Quantico. She would have a cool nickname; Cunt Punter.

“Why not just kill everyone we hate?” Ella questioned.

“That’s a great idea! I say we kill Guy and Vanessa,” Anything but Krista suggested.

“And Landrat!” MAROE added, the whole group agreeing, finishing their lunch before getting to their killing spree.

Gertrude-Sue was laughing at her made up characters and story when she received an email from Ethonk Remy to send him a folder that she had. Goggle Drive was acting stupid so she didn’t realize that she had shared her fanfiction folder with her boss before it was too late. She saw a little giraffe pop up in the right hand corner telling her that he was already viewing what was inside the folder.

“Holy donkey claws,” she cried out loud, smacking her hands against her face.

Meanwhile, Ethonk was going through her folder when he came across a document and his eyes went wide. “What are they doing with the dog?” He said to himself.

“What the hell are Wonder Pets?” He continued inspecting the different documents ranging from murder of one Owen Cunt, horses having sexual intercourse, Wonder Pets stuff, four kids and a dog where they did questionable things with each other, a sponge and a starfish were high on marijuana, a game where Gertrude-Sue had made him and her a family that looked way too realistic for his liking, two bunnies who kept hopping around with one of their little brothers, and multiple documents about Matthew Gray Gubler, Tom Holland, Tom Ellis, Patrick Dempsey, and Harry Styles which were all quite disturbing.

He took out his phone to call her. “Hey uh, Gert, what is this?”

“Oh well you see, the funny thing is that I accidentally sent you the wrong folder so if you could just pretend like this never happened, that would be fantastic. Okay thanks bye. I’m sending you the right one this time.” And she hung up, ready to throw herself off a cliff at her stupidity.

One thing was for sure, she would never make this mistake again.

Your name tumbled out of his mouth in stunned whisper. He was frozen for almost three heartbeats, just standing there with his haw slack as he blinked slowly. He was in shock and you couldn't blame him. You could see the gears, whirring behind his eyes, the information seeping in. The realisation finally crashing into him like a tsunami.

He whipped around, the deadly accusatory glare directed at Bobby, who could look everywhere except at Dean.

“You know they were alive this whole time?” he spat, “this whole goddamn time?” his jaw clenched shut and his temple throbbing from the fury brewing in the pit of his stomach.

Bobby cleared his throat and rose from his chair to walk towards Dean. He lifted his hand to lay it onto Dean’s shoulder. But Dean, he just dodged Bobby’s touch. The betrayal evident on his face, “Of course you knew Bobby. You just failed to inform me. How long?” His voice growing louder as he demanded answers, “How goddamn long have they been back?”

The guilt was bubbling it’s way to the surface of your skin but all you did was stay standing next to Sam, with your arms folded across your chest and watched Dean pace up and down the study and lose his mind.

“A year.”

Dean cast his eyes to you and Sam, his lips curled into an angry scowl as he smudged away on lone tear that fell down his cheek, “You’re kidding right?” he shook his head, refusing to believe what he was hearing. He resumed his pacing just for the sake of movement.

A brief looked passed between you and Sam before you stalked up to Dean and grabbed him by his collar, forcing him to stop moving so he could finally look at you for more than two seconds.

“Don’t you dare blame this on Bobby.” you growled, “he did what he thought was best for you.” you stabbed a finger into his solid chest, the frown of his face ebbing away and the softness returning to his eyes at your words but that didn't stop you, “You finally had a life. A good life that you deserve, so sue us for wanting to keep you out. Now, do yourself a goddamn favor and stay out.” You release his collar from your grip and shove him back.

Before your own tears threatened to fall, you stormed out, slamming the door behind you as your tried to block out their raised voices. Once again, blaming each other for the shit show that was the last couple of months.

The nippy air bit at your exposed skin as you sat at the work bench in the scrap yard, twirling your bronze knife between your fingers and watching the metal reflect the light. There’s no handbook to help when you come back to life, it ain’t no walk in the park either. When you woke up, you were all alone in the cemetery, the rain falling in sheets but you could feel anything. There’s this massive void inside your ribs that you cant seemed to fill. You tried, god knows you tried to feel even the slightest bit normal again but nothing worked. Not alcohol, not sex, not even the thrill that came from the hunt but blood..

One thing hadn't changed though, you felt it in your bones. One specific detail was sewn into your very being. That Dean was still the love of your life. You didn't have the courage to tell him that the first thing you did when you rose from the ground was to try and find your way back to him. You had walked miles to him, covered in dirt and grime, your sheer determination fuelling you. But you couldn't will yourself to walk up to the door, you just stood at the opposite side of the street and watched them being a family through the slits in the curtains as the sun began to set. He deserved her and the boy, he looked happy and he deserved to be. Regardless of the gnawing jealousy the crawled into the pit of your stomach, you walked away. You had to, because you knew it was for the best.

“I knew I’d find you here.” his voice jolting you to the present, his smile throwing you off balance as he sat down in front of you. His fingers settled on the carving in the wood, tracing the pattern of a heart and your initials with his.

A scowled found it’s way across your lips, “Where else could I be? Not like I could go to Hell twice in a row. Or is that just jinxing it?” you added with a sarcastic smile.

Dean was stunned, like you had just slapped him across the face and wreaked baby all in one go. His eyes glossed over as he sucked in a breath, using the moment of silence to figure out the right words to say.

“I could think about what I want to say for days but nothing would be enough. Nothing will amount to the sacrifice you made.” his voice cracked, “I’m sorry. I am so sorry. I went to her because Sam made me promise, you made me promise. If I had known you were alive, Jesus, I would have dropped everything, anything for you and Sammy. For my brother and my girl.” He was shaking as he spoke, his lip trembling as his tears fell freely.

Like a spring, you shot to your feet, “Whoa!” the shock evident in your voice, “It doesn't work like that okay? We can’t just pick up were we left off.” your chest was heaving, ‘I died, okay? I died. Like dead as a fucking door knob dead. I’m not the same girl anymore. The girl you knew and loved died in that cemetery. And, she’ll never come back.”

Dean just stared at you, like a wounded puppy with his green eyes big and teary. He looked like he was barely holding himself together, the anguish busting his seams. But what could you do? Nothing. You had to let him be and let him go.

You sighed, tucking your stray strands of hair behind your ears, “If you’re thinking of leaving Lisa for blood covered machetes and a dead girl, you’re making a big mistake. A fucking colossal mistake. You have something with her, so don't throw it away. She obviously loves you and was there in ways I could never have been. So, just go live your life. You can repay me for my sacrifice by doing that.”

You pocketed your dagger, sparing one last look at Dean, you walked back towards the house.

You were on your knees, ruffling through the kitchen drawer in search of a bottle opener when you felt a hand graze your shoulder.

“Y/N right?” Lisa questioned, a thin smile on her bare lips.

As you straightened up, you dusted your dark jeans at the knees before you reached out to shake her hand.

“The one and only.” you answered, trying your hardest to be polite, “It’s nice to finally meet you and to put a name to a face.” you lied, walking to the fridge just for the sake of something to do, “Beer?” you offered, “Canned beer because the bottle opener is lost to the world.”

Barely any reaction crossed her features, she just nodded and leaned against the table whilst opened and handed her the beer.

The air was thick, the silence suffocating you. Something felt off about the whole situation but your just couldn't figure out what. Your blood began racing in your veins, burning hot like it was laced with acid and all you wanted to do was run. But you didn't. You stayed put and rose your gaze to face her.

“Sorry about not introducing myself properly earlier. I’m not exactly big on reunions or a people’s person.” you scoffed and leaned against the counter. You opened your beer, the satisfying ‘tshhh’ sound filling your ears before you took a huge gulp and spoke again, “I’m also sorry that your boy got dragged into this. But I’m sure you knew. That everything and everyone in this life is messy and every single thing comes with terms and conditions or a consequence.”

She let out a gust of air, her lips pulled in a tight line as she set the untouched beer down and shook the condensation of her fingers.

“Oh you mean like you? Your noble sacrifice? You left him and he was so broken. I had to try and put him back together and still he used to talk about you.” utter heartbreak lacing her voice, causing your eyes to dart to her face, “Only in his sleep. He’d never speak about what happened when he was awake. He didn't wanna speak to me.” she shrugged, her shoulders sagging.

“Lisa, you don't have to wor-” you began to say before she interrupted.

“I pieced two and two together. Now, it finally makes sense to me. Of why he chose you, why he’ll always choose you. I want to hate you, I want to hate you so bad, for his heart belonging to you. But I can’t. You died to save the world. You’re great, more than I’ll ever be.” she choked back a sob, “He might have physically been there with me but you were the only thing mattered to him. You and Sam. I love him. And it hurts so much because he’ll never love me back. He will never love me back.” She clutched onto the table for support, the grief and agony washing over her as her tears began to fall.

You were awful in situations like this. You never knew what to say or what to do.

“Lisa.” you started, trying to bring some comfort, “he cares about you and your son deeply.” you smiled gently, pointing towards the kitchen window to show her Dean and Ben sitting on the hood of a scrap car, just talking.

“No!” she yelled, the shrill of her voice startling you as she shoved you back hard enough to make you land on your ass, “You don't understand. It hurts. It hurts so much.” she was trembling, her eyes bloodshot and her tears running black down her face as she walked towards you, “You don't know how much it hurts to give someone the best of you and watch him choose someone else. You’re the dead girl and he’ll still choose you.”

She bared her teeth and leaped at you.

Can we just start with how Minho deserves all the praise? A Scream marathon sounds like a great time honestly, especially with a group of characters such as them. Minho watching a movie but somehow not being able to retain any information from said movie, even though it had just finished, is very relatable. The fact that he actually took her movie review seriously (well as seriously as you can with a prompt like that), this man is after our hearts. A for effort and the flattery of calling her pretty for extra credit is duly noted. Why am I not surprised that his reaction to her telling him that Changbin has fallen asleep is to shout at him? And proceed to throw projectiles at him for good measure? Poor Jisung taking the blame too. Love how y/n reacted by saying that they can’t arm wrestle on her glass table then proceeds to have them move it and then went: okay, now you can wound each other safely. Although she does proceed to jinx herself about forgetting its new position later. Minho is always the reliable shit-stirrer and we love him for it. Jisung serving it right back at him though. Why is the thought of seeking out praise but will probably deny it if the question fits Minho so well? ‘Fuck off…move this table while you’re at it.’ Yes, sir. Her making it her mission to return the favour of him always praising her in the bedroom is giving me life. Don’t mind y/n, she just sues an entire paragraph to fawn over how amazing Minho’s thighs are, and not a single one of us can blame her. Even though he reassures her that her actions are all that he needs to know that she loves him and that she doesn’t have to use words if it’s out of her comfort zone; her deciding to do it anyway for him and herself shows how much she truly loves him. ‘Shut up, pretty please.’ I love their playful banter. He may make a huff about it but we all know that every new place that she kisses has him melting into an even bigger puddle for her. Praise kink is officially unlocked, for both of them.

Cookie and the Kid #2 Antarctic Press 2019 By Alex Kosakowski     Bombs away! Cookie the elf and his best friend, Mutt, are supposed help Sylva, another young elf, put the finishing touches on her trebuchet so maybe it can catapult the human child out of the faerie world before the Hill King finds her. Unfortunately, Cookie’s more interested in lunch than launch, so things don’t go as planned…     There are some books that you find that you instantly fall in love with and for me this is one of them. Cookie and Mutt are one of the greatest comedic duo's out there. It is like the Odd Couple, Fred and Barney or Oliver and Hardy they just play off one another spectacularly well and it's a pure joy that we get to see this happen. While we cannot understand what our human friend is saying since this is the land of the faerie and neither can Cookie or Mutt so that compliments matters for now.     I love the way that this is being told. Alex has this way of being able to make it seem that writing is the easiest thing in the world. Like breathing or some such nonsense. The story & plot development along with the character development and how they work with and off each other to create the kind of atmosphere that delights us. Speaking of delights this really truly is an all-ages book and while the younger ones will just enjoy the banter, the creativity and imagination in the characters. Teens and upward will like the complexity of the story, how they all have either issues with each other or tease each other depending on the persons viewpoint. Plus if I am not mistaken Cookie and Sylva have that playground style crush going on as well.     This poor little girl is lost, crying and just wants her dog Cookie. So it's kind of like that old Who's on First routine because with the dog and the elf having the same name well it is causing all kinds of distress and wrong assumptions among Mutt and Cookie. Though to be honest it's funny that that's the only word they can understand. I do have to say that it's nice to finally meet more characters in this world. Sylva was a natural as she and Cookie have a history but then to see those two new beastie-catchers. I have no idea why they are catching them but it was mentioned last issue by Cookie so that we see them is wonderfully done.     The interiors are are beautiful. There are a few backgrounds that are more empty than I would like but considering Alex does this everything here we can forgive that. I adore the way the elves look like monkey's they've got these large ears and yet the hairy bodies and the hands resemble simian features. There is something incredibly unique and delightful about Alex's rendition here. I love the linework that we see here and how the varying weights are utilised in creating such dynamic attention to detail. The animals, creatures, characters and this world they live in with the trees and rocks in the landscape is just gorgeous. ​     With hi-jinx, laughter and with sadness and a little squabbling this is every bit as fun and creative as anything from Where the Wild Are, Who, Said Sue, Said Whoo? Or even Shel Silverstein. Perfect every member of the family and a great way to have supper table conversation over something that isn't on telly or mobile phones. Positivity and joy rule the day here and I can't get enough of it.

1)  Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)

My childhood heroine. When I first read the Harry Potter books, she was like the big sister I never had. I adored her. Now she is like the little sister I never had, and I still adore her. Brilliant, strong, clever, brave, loyal... I don’t think I will ever be able to love anyone more than my favorite Gryffindor princess. What makes Hermione brilliant is how she helped to save the world more than almost anyone else. Yet unlike all the others like Harry who had no other option, Hermione chose to fight injustice. Harry was forced into that position, Ron was there because all his family was fighting (also for Harry of course). Hermione could have run away with her parents if she wanted to. But she didn’t and decided to fight the strongest and most evil wizard of the century, because she didn’t want to lose her first and best friends. Ron talks about giving up, even Harry does, but you will never see Hermione trying to back down. That is why she is a Gryffindor, even though she is smarter than any Ravenclaw in the series, her bravery is even more pronounced. And as mentioned countless times, without Hermione, Harry (and many others) would have been dead long ago and Voldemort would have been ruling the world. Plus, she is really good at magic. She managed to brew a potion that most adults can’t in her second year, she put a jinx on a contract that not even professional healers could heal, and when they were camping, she kept Harry, aka the guy Voldemort wanted the most, hidden for months, and Voldemort couldn’t find them. I could write pages and pages about Hermione, but I am going to keep it short. I love her, I adore her, and I will most likely always love her. 

2) Sakata Gintoki (Gintama)

Gintama is my favorite anime of all time, and I love all the characters (which doesn’t really happen often). But I am not gonna lie, I fell in love with Gintoki when I started Gintama and my love only increased with time. He is probably the funniest character I know, he is a great troll. Yet at the same time, he is an amazingly deep and strong character. His backstory, his connections with others is simply amazing. Gintoki is one of those rare characters that can make every action loveable, including things like picking your nose. He has many flaws, which make him even more amazing. He is the greatest troll ever, he can be an asshole, he can be sadistic, but he will always be there when someone needs protecting. He also gives amazing speeches when the situation calls for him. I am not going to go into too much spoilers, but let’s just say he has more reason to hate the world than anyone else, yet he loves it, and he loves the people in it, and still manages to smile brilliantly. Also, he is really strong did I mention that? 

3) Yang Xiao Long (RWBY)

My favorite blond firecracker. I started watching RWBY because of her (after seeing her in Death Battle), and from the first episode on, she became my favorite character. She is one of the strongest characters in the show. She went through worse things than anyone else in her age, but she still managed to smile everytime. Alongside Ruby, she is the most positive character in the show (besides current volume of course, but I am sure she will bounce back ONCE SHE ACTUALLY GETS ANY SCREENTİME). But Ruby is happy because she isn’t aware of the problems most of the time. Yang is mature, she is aware, yet she remains positive just to be a support for everyone around her. I love her motherly side, as well as her strong, badass side. She can kick anyones ass, but she is also a brilliant sister, a brilliant daughter and a brilliant friend.

4) Lelouch Vi Britannia (Code Geass)

Lelouch is the perfect anti-hero. He makes mistakes, he does things that might be unacceptable under normal circumstances, but he is so likeable and his motives are so understandable that you can’t help root for him. Code Geass is a great show, and Lelouch is the single greatest aspect of it. I can’t talk much about him without getting into spoiler territory, but he is a scarily intelligent and handsome character with great motives. Throughout the show, he is always on a line between ‘’anti-hero’’ and ‘’Villain’’ but his emotions and connections always keeps him from making that step. As I said, perfect anti hero. 

5) Mikasa Ackerman (Attack on Titan)

It might be obvious by know, but I really love strong girls. Mikasa went through so much pain, but she got through and became stronger. She can kick ass, she almost doesn’t have an equal on that, yet she is also a loving person that cares about the people around her, and can do anything to protect them. If I see Yang as my big sister, I see Mikasa as my young little sister. I hate seeing her sad, and I always want to give her a hug whenever she is sad. Because I can relate to her, and seeing a strong character break down is always much harder for me to see than the others. Be happy my precious Ackerman.

6) Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto)

Sasuke is kind of like a guilty pleasure for me. Naruto is the first anime I’ve ever watched, and I remember seeing Sasuke and falling in love with him (figuratively). It also helped that the episodes I watched always painted him in a good picture. But anyways, he is a really complex character, probably the most complex one in the whole Naruto series. He had a terrible past, so I could always understand his actions, even if I didn’t agree with them sometimes. Seeing him smile (which rarely happens) is really great. Also, he has great techniques, and is a really good fighter. I know that there are many people who hate him, but he is one of my favorite characters and will probably remain one forever. 

7) Kurapika Kurta (Hunter x Hunter)

I could probably repeat most things I said about Sasuke here. I also love Killua from HxH, he is a close second, but Kurapika is my favorite character. He is like Sasuke, with a tragic backstory and he wants revenge (which is completely understandable) but unlike Sasuke, he doesn’t forget his connections with the others. Plus, he is probably one of the smartest characters in the entire show, and considering the cast of HxH, that is really saying something.

8) Roronoa Zoro (One Piece)

I don’t think much needs to be said here. 3 sword using badass, who is funny, loyal, strong. Not to mention, he is incredibly badass. Did I already say that? When it comes to Zoro, you can never mention enough times how badass he is.

9) L. Lawliet (Death Note)

Smartest detective in the world, who is also addicted to sugar. He is incredible at his job, you could even argue at the first glance that he is a Mary Sue, that is, if you only look at his performance at being a detective, and his intelligence. But he is not. He is terrible at pretty much anything else. He is anti social, he makes friends with the worst people, he doesn’t know how to be nice to people etc. But none of that makes him a bad character. In fact, those things make him great and loveable. Seriously, you can’t tell me that you don’t start loving him as soon as you see that face.

10) Vegeta (Dragonball Z)

Last but not least: The prince of all Saiyans. Like Sasuke, he is one of my old favorites. Vegeta is the definition of loveable asshole. Throughout the Z, almost until the end, most of his actions were selfish or wrong. But the slow change and development he goes through is amazing, and has no equal in the dragonball series. He grows so much as a character, and seeing him show compassion is amazingly satisfying after seeing him being an asshole most of the time. Plus, even when selfish or evil, he is a loveable character, because he does what he does really good. At the end, he becomes a better father and husband than Goku, which again shows his development. I am rooting for you my prince, one day, you will definitely beat Kakarot.

     Like         it’s   predecessors       saving          it        from           a          strike

      But         not        from       being         a      terrible      episode
