If Wild Kratts was a Musical (w/Chrizach) ACT 1

'EPIC: The Musical' fever hits hard, so here's 'Wild Kratts Our Green and Blue World: The Musical' but it's also Chrizach because, well, it's me...

DISCLAIMER: I did not actually write a musical for I have no rights to Wild Kratts, and I can't write music to save my life.

ACT 1:

'Wild and Free'

Performed by: Martin, Chris, Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy

Mood: Upbeat, joyful, optimistic

Summary: In this opening song, the audience is introduced to the Wild Kratts team, their philosophy, and personalities. The song starts with just Martin and Chris, before introducing each of the other team members and their musical motifs and instruments (Aviva: Acoustic Guitar, Koki: Marimba, Jimmy: Clarinet). There are harmonies, but also a lot of unison singing, demonstrating how in sync the team is.

Inspiration: 'It Roars' from 'Mean Girls the Musical' and 'The Family Madrigal' from 'Encanto'

'You (Zach's Lament)'

Performed by: Zach

Mood: Irritated, longing, denying

Summary: Zach watches as the Wild Kratts play, and laments the specific things he dislikes about them. However, he continually redeems one team member referred to only as 'You', and implies he would like to be in a romantic relationship with them. The lyrics initially lead the audience to believe he is singing about Aviva, but it becomes clear he is talking about Chris, though he never says his name. The song changes tempo and tone to become lighter when Zach is singing about Chris, and saxophone can be heard along with Zach's instrument (electric guitar).

Inspiration: 'Lonely Room' from 'Oklahoma' and 'Johanna' from 'Sweeney Todd'

'It's a Green/ It's a Blue World' from 'Wild Kratts: Our Green and Blue World'

Performed by: Martin and Chris

Mood: Upbeat, argumentative, conflicting

Summary: The original song, but extended. The brothers present their arguments for Green vs Blue, first logically, but eventually devolving into pettiness, though not cruelty. Martin and Chris's instruments (trumpet and saxophone) conflict each other, and their melodies are distinctly different. Typical Sibling stuff. They are unable to agree, and storm off in opposite directions, leaving the others behind.

Inspiration: 'Life's too Short' from 'Frozen' (Cut Song)

'The Ends Justify the Means'

Performed by: Zach, Paisley, Donita, Gourmand, Rex, and Dabio

Mood: Bold, Triumphant, Menacing

Summary: Initially unaware of the brother's fight, Zach, Paisley, Donita, and Gourmand meet to plan their beach resort, which all will contribute to and benefit from. They all revel in what they will get out of the deal: money, prestige, attention, etc, but Paisley brings up that they do not yet have a location decided upon. The vocals and instrumentals are all loud and exaggerated during this portion of the song, and feature a solo by each villain as they all compete to be the main voice heard. Their instruments and motifs are introduced during this song as well. (Zach: Electric Guitar, Donita: Violin, Gourmand: Euphonium, Paisley: Synthesizer) The mood shifts when Rex and Dabio interrupt to inform them of the Kratt brothers fight, which causes Zach to take over the narrative with a plan to manipulate Chris into helping them find a resort location. The others agree, leading to a triumphant and dramatic climax.

Inspiration: 'A Story Told' from 'The Count of Monte Cristo'

'Harmony'

Performed by: Martin, Chris, Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy

Mood: Fast-paced, conflicting, expressive

Summary: Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy track down first Chris, then Martin and attempt to persuade them to reconcile by pointing out the symbiotic ways forests and oceans interact with specific examples such as the water cycle. The team's appeals are all sung in a three-part harmony which neither brother is willing to join, instead continuing their conflicting melodies and reiterating that their colour is better while getting into increasingly dangerous situations. When Aviva tries a new tactic of stating that oceans and forests NEED each other, and the brothers do too, Chris and Martin do begin to harmonize...about the fact that the other needs to admit he is wrong.

Inspiration: 'End of the Line' from 'Theory of Relativity'

'Green is My Favourite Colour'

Performed by: Zach and Chris

Mood: Persuasive, friendly, complementary

Summary: The song begins with Chris alone, in the rainforest. He is openly hurt by Martin's arguments, but also begins to enjoy being surrounded by the colour he loves. As he notes the green he sees, Zach appears, causing an abrupt stop to the song while they talk. Chris is very wary of Zach, until he picks up the song, mimicking Chris's original melody and confessing that green is secretly his favourite, too. Though initially hesitant, Chris begins to join in with more and more enthusiasm, listing more reasons why green is better, with Zach's encouragement. They harmonize closer to the end of the song, and their instruments complement each other, but although they are singing the same words, many lyrics have double meanings that imply Zach's intentions.

Inspiration: 'I'm the Friend You Need' from the My Little Pony Movie-more the tone and message than the instruments or melody.

'Big, Bright, Blue-tiful'

Performed by: Martin ft Aviva

Mood: Bouncy, excited, celebratory

Summary: Martin's only solo in the musical, this song is preformed while he is exploring the ocean and interacting with/turning into aquatic animals. He downplays the fact that his brother isn't there to see them, instead attempting to revel in his beloved surroundings. The high point of the song comes when Martin is on top of Ka-bluey the whale, and Aviva cuts in to warn him that the team can't find Chris and suspect something has happened to him due him being alone. Martin feels guilty and attempts to call Chris, but there is no answer.

Inspiration: 'Dancing Through Life' from 'Wicked'

'Your Side, My Side'

Performed by: Martin and Chris

Mood: Frustrated, clashing, assertive

Summary: Martin manages to find Chris, who is still spending time with Zach. Zach does not participate in this song and leaves when asked by Chris, but he can be seen eavesdropping by the audience. Martin attempts to convince Chris that Zach has bad intentions, while Chris insists that Zach is on his side, unlike Martin. Some of Martin's begin to mimic Chris's as he tries to explain they're both on Nature's Side, but Zach is not. However, Chris's melodies repeatedly undergo slight changes in order to set him apart from his brother as he points out Martin's lines from earlier in the story and how Martin is clearly NOT on HIS side. Chris also makes it clear that Zach is not going to attempt to harm nature because he is going to keep an eye on him, and he does NOT need Martin to look after him. Even more upset than before, the brothers leave in opposite directions.

Inspiration: 'A Boy Like That' from 'West Side Story' and 'Take Me or Leave Me' from 'Rent' (Not the context of this song, just the musicality)

(I’m watching the “Fish out of water” episode with the walking fish where he feels like he’s useless and it’s reminding me of when Keith left to the blade of marmora because he felt uneeded).

Daphne and the Wild Kratts Team

I am indeed alive!! I’ve been working on this for a while, but life has been crazy recently.

Daphne and the WK Team

Chris: Daphne likes Chris. He struggles to relate to her at times because he’s outdoors, literally touching grass. Whenever he needs help with the internet, he’ll call her over, knowing she’s good at that stuff. He watches her grow up in many ways, and is close with her, but sometimes he questions her mother’s intentions. He isn’t wholly convinced that Donita completely reformed, but he is willing to try to get over it, due to lack of evidence that she is back to her villainy ways. 

Martin: Daphne has always had an interesting relationship with Martin. Her mom was around him a lot, but she didn’t know very much about him. He was around enough for it to be suspicious, but not enough for Daphne to confront Martin or Donita about it.  Their relationship is their business and Daphne tries to just focus on her own relationship with him. He’s genuinely a very nice person, and while Daphne doesn’t talk to him without her mother around very often, he seems to be a like minded person to her. 

Aviva: Daphne loves Aviva. She’s probably the closest to Daphne of the WK team and they often chat to each other in Spanish. Aviva really cares about Daphne, but at times, especially when grades are involved, oversteps and tries to parent Daphne and force her to be better. She doesn’t think Daphne is trying hard enough in school, and doesn’t realize that math and science don’t come as easily to Daphne as they do to her. Despite all this, Daphne spends lots of time with Aviva and sends her some of her mothers finished products she thinks she’ll like.

Koki: Daphne didn’t get along very well with Koki in the beginning. They clashed a lot about the internet, since they both are on it and are prominent figures on it. Koki is against influencers in general, viewing them as scammers and not productive in society, and this bias bled into her relationship with Daphne. Daphne being Donita’s daughter didn’t help either. Koki is still semi convinced that the new being good act is just an act and Donita is waiting for them to let their guard down. As Daphne got more mature, she started talking to Koki more and told her more about her career on the internet and how not every influencer is the same. They eventually became closer, but still aren’t completely friends, with Daphne feeling hurt about what Koki said and Koki is still suspicious of Daphne.

Jimmy: Daphne rarely if ever interacts with Jimmy. She respects what he does but they just don’t have much in common. They follow each other on social media and like each other’s posts but their interactions don’t often go beyond a like and potential short comment. When they meet in person, they are both very awkward, preferring to interact with the safety of their screen in front of them. Daphne and Jimmy are both fine with this relationship, but people around them are pushing them to become closer due to their positive interactions.

WK Elemental AU

(because I don't have enough AUs already...) Let me introduce you to something thats been rolling around in my brain for a little while now... The Elemental AU!

Heavily inspired by Avatar the Last Airbender, the elemental AU takes place in a universe where some people are born with the ability to control a specific element. The main difference is instead of the 4 western elements of Earth, Fire, Water, and Air- it's the 5 Chinese elements of Earth, Fire, Water, Wood, and Metal. (Just bc it fit the crew better! and gives me some more room to world-build)

The basic plot remains close to Wild Kratts canon. They travel the world, saving animals from the villains (Who are also elementals!) except instead of relying on technology, or their creature powers, they use their elemental gifts.

I am planning on writing about this soon since Decoded is coming to an end in only a few weeks. But I figured I would go ahead and introduce it now since I've finished all of their refs!

If Wild Kratts was a (Chrizach) Musical ACT lll

The final Act opens inside of Donita's jet, where the villains have gathered to discuss the fact that the other Wild Kratts are approaching, and though they will arrive too late to stop Paisley and the Zachbots from starting to demolish the rainforest, conflict is inevitable. Chris is also present, trapped inside a forcefield, but the villains are ignoring him.

'The Ends Justify the Means' (reprise)

Preformed by: Gourmand, Paisley, Donita, Zach, and Chris

Mood: Resolute, powerful, malicious

Summary: Towards the end of their dialogue, Gourmand is the first one to start singing as he suggests that instead of attempting to continue their evil deeds when the Wild Kratts show up, they should instead focus all of their energy on attacking them so they cannot stand in their way. Donita quickly agrees, then Paisley after considering the practicality of the approach. They look to Zach for agreement, which he gives, but it is extremely brief. Electric guitar is noticeably almost absent from this song, in contrast to the first time it is sung where Zach is fighting for dominance over the song. The villains each describe different ways they can stop the Wild Kratts team: none are violent or brutal, it is very clear they don't want to harm the team permanently, but they want to immobilize them so they cannot interfere. The bridge of the song pitches up as Chris speaks up to plead with the villains to stop, but his words go unheard as the final verse increases in volume and dramatics to end on a ominous high point.

Inspiration: 'Hold Them Down' from EPIC: The Musical-this song is WAY darker than 'The Ends Justify the Means (Reprise), but the mood is similar

'You (Reprise)'

Performed by: Zach and Chris

Mood: Heartbroken, Pained, Emotional

Summary: The rest of the villains leave to prepare, and though Zach sends his Zachbots with them, he remains. He tries to apologize to Chris (whom he refers to as 'You') by saying that he didn't know the other villains intended to trap him, nor does it make him happy to see Chris so upset. However, he also lets slip that he is only concerned for Chris's safety in the upcoming conflict, and has no intention of helping or protecting the other Wild Kratts. When he reiterates his feelings for Chris, and that he doesn't want to hurt him, he gives Chris a chance to respond. Before Chris does, there is a slight interlude where a saxophone sounds as though it is crying. Chris sadly rejects Zach's 'apology' and affection, lamenting the fact that he trusted and opened himself up to Zach (whom he refers to as 'You') when Zach was using him all along. Rejecting Zach's attempts to argue, Chris tells him to leave because "I can't look at YOU anymore." Zach leaves without a fight, but also leaves Chris inside the forcefield.

Inspiration: 'The Point of No Return (reprise) from 'The Phantom of the Opera'

'Take You Down'

Preformed by: Aviva, Martin, Jimmy, Koki, Donita, Dabio, Gourmand, Paisley, and Rex

Mood: Clashing, loud, final

Summary: Upon arriving at the demolition site, all of the remaining Wild Kratt members are in Creature Power Suits, even Jimmy, although this makes him very nervous. The song starts as a standoff where Martin states that they don't want to fight or hurt the villains, but if they won't back down, then they'll do what they have to do to stop them. Gourmand counters that the villains feel largely the same: they aren't there to fight the Wild Kratts, but if they won't leave, then they are willing to take them down.

All it takes is Rex 'accidentally' knocking down a tree to trigger an all-out fight, with the music building from it's slow, tense pace to a fast-paced, final battle sound. Different characters switch opponents more than once, and much of the song is instrumental, but a vocal moment of note is when Koki notes that Zach is nowhere to be seen, which Martin echoes by saying that he hasn't seen Chris either. They quickly decide that Martin will check Donita's jet (which is closest) for Chris while the rest of the team holds the villains off. Martin is very hesitant to go, but Koki reassures him before essentially pushing him away.

Inspiration: 'Put You in Your Place' from 'Percy Jackson: The Musical'

'What Really Matters (reprise)'

Preformed by: Martin and Chris

Mood: Gentle, apologetic, joyful

Summary: Martin sneaks into Donita's jet, deactivating his Creature Power Suit. He finds Chris almost immediately, and though Chris is happy to see him, he is also defensive, stating that he knows what Martin is going to say: Chris should have listened, Martin told him that Zach wasn't to be trusted, and Chris does need Martin to look out for him. Chris goes to say that Martin was right, but Martin interrupts him with a genuine "I'm Sorry" and the tension in the music breaks. The two apologize back and forth for things they have said during the musical, and Martin reiterates the message Jimmy and Koki sang in ACT ll: What really matters is that Chris is safe.

The music then shifts to become more determined as Martin tells Chris that the team is safe, for now, but they need Chris's help. He begins to search for a way to get Chris out of the forcefield, only to find an arrow pointing at a button that says: "Martin, Press This." Chris tries to warn him but is unable to stop his brother, but when Martin presses the button, the forcefield dissolves. Both brothers say: "Huh." but quickly move on to leave the jet and rush into battle.

Inspiration: 'More than Anything' from 'Hazbin Hotel'

'Empty'

Preformed by: Full Cast

Mood: Confrontational, shifting, dramatic

Summary: Chris and Martin rush out of Donita's jet to find that Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy have been captured. Donita warns them that activating their Creature Power Suits will do no good, as she has a device, made by Zach that will immediately de-activate them. (It has taken until just before this song for Dabio to figure out how to make it work. Chris and Martin activate anyways, and Donita orders Dabio to fire, but nothing happens. After a moment of confusion and debate, Zach reveals himself, and the fact that he has de-activated the device and any others he had a hand in making for the villains. The other villains are angry and berate him for betraying them, which he flippantly apologizes for, but he also mocks them for not realizing that continuing their actions will hurt THEM in the long run. He notes: "What's the point of power if there's nothing left? What's the point of wealth if you're alone?" He shares that destroying the world hasn't made him happy, but he's seen what life could be like if he doesn't, and that's the life he wants.

Martin and Chris quickly back up and agree with this narrative, Martin more quickly than Chris, and encourage the villains to think about they really want and how harming the planet will absolutely hurt them in the long run. Zach's voice overlaps with theirs, jadedly predicting that the other villains will not change their minds, not after it took twenty years for him to change HIS. He is proven correct when the villains refuse to back down, but upon seeing the Zachbots have freed Aviva, Koki, and Jimmy, they are not willing to fight the Wild Kratts 5 v 5 and leave after issuing threats and curses.

Inspiration: 'You Didn't Know' from 'Hazbin Hotel'

'It's a Green AND Blue World'

Preformed by: Martin, Chris, Aviva, Koki, Jimmy, and Zach

Mood: Joyous, celebratory, harmonious

Summary: Once the villains are gone, the team celebrates their victory and the fact that the brothers have made up through dialogue, only starting the song when Jimmy asks "What are we going to do about HIM?", referring to Zach. Martin and Aviva suspiciously question Zach about why he has changed his loyalties so abruptly, to which he replies that he already told them: he's tired of fighting them, tired of destruction, and tired of being alone. He thinks they were right all along, and he's sorry he didn't listen to them sooner. Martin accepts this, happily, while Aviva warns Zach that she's still watching him, which Koki backs up. Zach grudgingly admits he deserves this before going to Chris to apologize again and say that he understands now that the world needs green, just like he needs Chris, but he'll leave if that's what Chris REALLY wants.

Chris instead shifts closer to him as the song transitions to the titular portion where Chris states that the world needs green, but it also needs blue, and it's up to everyone to keep it that way. Martin joins in very quickly, his melody finally in sync with Chris's as he emphasizes the importance of balance in nature. The other cast members join in, sharing ways to protect the planet and what could happen if we don't. The song ends with a flourish, blending in the motif of 'Wild and Free' for a final line about keeping "Our Blue AND Green world wild and free!" As the music swells to finish, Chris verbally says: "Wait, no, guys it's 'Free and in the Wild'!" before a final musical flourish and the stage going dark.
