Imagine you fell in a swimming pool but you can’t swim. You start to flap around, desperate for help but nobody has noticed you. You get a cramp, you can’t even try to float anymore and you are slowly sinking. Your head is under the water now. You are surrounded by people but nobody is helping you, because they are all busy enjoying the pool. They are oblivious to you. You are going to die, you know it. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a man appears beside you and he pulls you out of the water. You thought your life was ending. You have gone from near death to safety and now you are warmly wrapped in a blanket and sitting by the pool - knowing that the ordeal is over. Even the partygoers have finally noticed you and are expressing their sympathy. How would you feel? Would you be glad to be alive? How grateful would you be to the one who saved your life? But for this one man, who noticed your plight and saved you, you would have been dead. The man then reappears beside you and says, “you need never fear drowning again, because I am going to be with you for the rest of your life. You are safe now. I will always protect you. “I will always be at your side, I will never abandon you.” (Deut 31:6) How would you feel in that moment? Cherished? Happy? Safe? That swimming pool represents sin, the sin that we were drowning in. But our sin is much bigger than a pool, it's an ocean and even if we learn to swim, we'll drown in that ocean if we're left there alone. We have a Savior and He will always save us. He will never leave us nor forsake us.  Even if you don’t know it, you need saving - because we all need saving. We are all in an ocean of sin and only Jesus can save us. We have this wonderful Savior and none of us need perish. Jesus is there, holding out His hand, waiting to save you. His grace covers every single one of your sins. Our wonderful God sent Jesus to save you. If you take hold of His hand, He will pull you to safety and never let you drown. PRAYER: If anyone is reading this and needs Your help, I pray you will show them how much You are willing to help them. If they don’t feel they are worthy, maybe because they have been away from You or because they think they have done things that mean they can’t come to You,  I pray that You will show them Your love and help them to know how special they are to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
