Running into @jessicamcrgan

The past few days had been difficult to say the least. Jake had been spent a lot of time alone with too many thoughts. The hardest part was each thought lead back to Morgan...Jessica. It was easier to call her Morgan in his mind, but now that he knew the truth, it didn’t seem right. Nothing seemed right as of late. A part of him wanted to be angry, to be mad at her forever for what she did. Except, he didn’t want to be angry. It wasn’t in his nature to stay angry at someone he cared about for a long period of time. And it was clear that Jessica was someone he cared a lot about. Except, Jessica wasn’t who he had fallen for. It was Morgan and he missed her. With the thoughts consuming his mind, Jake needed an escape. He put on his running shoes and left with no plan on stopping. 

During his escape, he found himself in her neighborhood. He convinced himself that it was a fluke, but he knew exactly where he was going. So it wasn’t fate when he saw a familiar brunette figure on the sidewalk. However, she wasn’t alone. There were numerous bags surrounding her and he would be lying if he said he wasn’t curious. He figured that if he tried to sneak past, he could pick up a luggage label and figure out where she was going. Although, his sneaking up skills were a bit out of practice. Jake ended up stumbling on a bag and caught a lamp post to save himself from falling. Within a second, she was looking at him and so was everyone else on the street. “Sorry.” He called up, waving his hand to indict he was okay. “I forgot my bubble at home, I should go get it.” He muttered in her direction with a nod. Every fiber in his body was telling him to run, but he was frozen. All he could do was stare at her.

“No, no, I understand that fact. I fucked up. I take full responsibility for that but c’mon, man. Suspension? Therapy? Not only am I a decorated officer but I’m a marine combat veteran. My aunt’s dead, the bastard’s been put in jail and Micah-” Not wanting his voice to crack or for his boss to know just how much thinking of his cousin tended to mess with him, he paused in order to take a breath and compose himself. “It doesn’t matter. The point is, justice has been served, I got my head on right because of that and I’m ready to come back. My partner with my help busted a newsworthy sting, I’m an asset to the department. I don’t need therapy, nor do I want it. When I say I’m fine, I’m fine. I-“ Cut off by his boss as he once more stated that despite all that, despite all his accomplishments he still needed to be cleared before being allowed back on the job, Weston knowing whatever he said would once more fall on deaf ears simply sighed before nodding his head along. “Yeah, yeah, sure. Heard. I’ll make an appointment soon.” Lying through his teeth, he muttered a quick goodbye before carelessly dropping his phone down on the table before him. “Fucking shit.”

Maggie had been released from the hospital only a couple of days after she’d gotten there, but she’d been taking it easy. She’d yet to go to work, but she was itching to get back on her feet. So much so, she’d even taken up yoga. She was in the middle of a session through YouTube when the doorbell rang. “It’s open!” She called, not wanting to get out of the calming pose.

His neck ached from sitting hunched over the same shit all night — and to add insult to injury, the longer he looked at it, the more complicated it got. He was chasing his own tail, and before long, the clock had struck 2 AM. Ernst, the janitor, had come shuffling by at one point to empty the trash can beneath his desk, offering a worrying look from beneath overgrown eyebrows. The old man had become something of a staple at the precinct, and the only person you were more likely to see there at odd hours than Gannon himself. They had shared a cup of stale coffee and a doughnut, a brief reprieve before the detective sunk back down in his chair to work. 

When he noticed the time, he let out a sigh, and pushed away from his desk. Leaning his neck forward and backward, he tried to break the spell of tension on stiff muscles, pressing his fingertips into the side of his neck. His eyes were crossing. If he expected to get anything done, he was at least going to need a few hours of sleep. After finishing the cold, bitter stuff in his coffee mug, he stood and grabbed his coat to leave.

Lucas went to the hospital, Marcus got stuck at the last coin fed meter in Montreal, Alina got a two hour phone call from her mom complaining about politics, Danielle admitted that she and Jamie try to get it on at least three times a week, Roisin asked for a donut cake for her birthday (I hope she got it), Victoria and Cassidy got it on, and Levi got lost and ended up at some indie music place with Trent — which I’m dying to see what happens there, honestly.

I'm already loving Jessica Morgan and Jake Bennett as a couple, they have the cutest interactions, and they had a spark from the moment they met,and I get excited everytime I see one of them reply to the other! I'm definitely shipping these two!!

I dunno, seems to me like they are going to be a short lived fling. May be fun and all now, but come tomorrow they’ll be as boring as the next married couple and then they’ll be old news for all of us.
