That night was a catalyst for many things, Touya realizes. He dedicated a lot of his time to perfecting simple use of his quirk so he doesn't blow himself up again. He favored calculated distance and speed over the barbaric, all encompassing flames his father taught him to use. He honed his fire into complete cooperation. The most important change caused by that experience, however, being the “you've got one life and you're gonna waste it away being mad about something you can't control” epiphany-induced decision to commission a support hero to build him a fire-proof prosthetic leg to replace the one he lost in the explosion, complete with bedazzled blue flame decoration (because why not customize it? Just because he's disabled doesn't mean he gets to be boring!) and get a job. Granted, it's not completely legal, but, well, a job is a job.

And that is how infamous hitman, codename “Dabi”, came to be in current legal (surprise!) guardianship of one Todoroki Shouto. He's having a great time.

The actual reasoning and importance behind a unified left as I understand it.

Before I write this, I want to be totally clear and say that I have been very guilty of inciting discourse which is a deep regret of mine, one that I have felt the consequences of, and that honestly was out of ignorance and unwarranted self-righteousness.

I've been having a lot of the run-of-the-mill leftist hopelessness spirals recently. One of the issues I've been feeling especially hopeless about is the classic "unified left" idea, and why that is important in the first place.

Newly radicalized, I went to reddit to try and learn more. After posting an already somewhat misguided question, I was bombarded with highly emotional infighting between communities that I wasn't even aware existed let alone had disdain for one another. I am trying to stay general, but you can imagine what I'm talking about.

This is where I get to my point about leftist unity. Actually, I would like to rephrase that - as I feel leftist unity may imply some sort of homogenization of ideologies which is not what I mean. I think a better way to describe it would be "left harmoniousness". I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing, debating, and acknowledging ideological differences between left ideologies and sub-groups. But when the debate becomes bitter and particularly when it becomes personal (e.g. all [some leftist ideology]'s are [personal attack]), that's when I believe it becomes a problem. And I think all left communities are guilty of this. I am no exception, in fact I have been particularly guilty of it.

Why do I believe this is a problem that needs addressing? Simply put - rather than focusing on ideology and theory, communities become caricatures - something that may be fun to engage in on the internet but I believe is super harmful to the left as a whole. I may identify with the theory and idea behind an ideology, but the identity of it becomes undesirable. In my case, I have found myself so lost among the different groups and sub-groups that I find myself reconciling with the idea of leftism in general.

I don't want to come off as saying "let's all just get along", but I think we can all recognize that the problem of infighting and in-infighting has gotten pretty bad. I'd be willing to wager that any leftist has more in common with their leftist ideological opposite than different.
