—i can fix him (no really i can)
pairing: jess mariano x fem!doose!reader
summary: jess got into another fight and you're about to clean his wounds, but he has other plans, tired of always answering your questions
warnings: kissing, making out, sexual remarks, allusions to sex
note: this was so fun to write and my first jess mariano fic, so please be gentle guys!!
“you never fail to amaze me, jess mariano“ you huffed, arms crossed as your eyes fell on the boy sitting on the curb in front of the supermarket. shadows were casted over his cheeks and he looked less than happy to see you.
"it isn't what it looks like" he muttered, trying to avert his gaze, although that was kind of hard, considering the outfit you were wearing.
your brushed your skirt to the side, before you sat down beside him. "well, it looks like you got beaten up"
"you should see the other guy" jess chuckled.
you sighed, not amused by the joke, as you softly touched his cheek.
"ow!" jess pulled his head back, trying to free it from your hands, but you were relentless, turning his chin in all possible directions to get a good look at his injuries.
"we're gonna have to clean them if you don't want them to get infected"
"i don't care about that" jess shrugged and took out a cigarette from a pocket of his jacket.
"yeah, i know tough guy". you quickly snatched the cigarette from his mouth before he was able to light it. "but i do"
"what the fuck, y/n?" jess exclaimed annoyed.
you left his words unanswered as you stood up from the cold concrete and held a hand in his direction to help him up. "come on, now. we're not dating, because i care so little about you, are we?"
jess rolled his eyes, before he followed you, of course ignoring your helping hand in the process.
you laughed at his tough act as he sent you a dark look, not finding anything about this remotely funny. he knew that this was one of your usual tactics to get him to talk. you would act understanding and worried about his injuries before he would be caught in a room alone with you, with no way to escape, having to explain every little detail about the fight.
well, tonight he decided, you were going to be caught in a room with him.
a smug smile slipped onto jess' features as he followed you up the stairs. you turned around and pushed a finger against your mouth, before you took out your keys and unlocked the door.
"grandpa is sleeping" you muttered, opening the door wide enough for jess to walk through, but not wide enough to reach the creaking sound.
jess and you had met the year before at the supermarket, where you had watched him buy a ridiculous amount of industrial glue, while he was busy watching rory and dean talk.
you had guessed that he had been doing that to bother them and while rory was a friend of yours, you had to admit that it had been a little funny.
unbeknownst to you, jess had forgotten everything about rory, once his eyes fell on you behind the counter.
"are you working on the worlds longest scrapbook or are you just very passionate about glue?"
"huh?" jess had been so stunned by what you said that he lost his usual cool demeanor and found himself at a temporary loss for words. he couldn't remember a situation in which he had not been able to reply with a witty joke.
"want me to repeat that?" you asked amused as you pulled the last bottle of glue over the scanner.
"no-uh" he shook his head "i'm jess, luke's nephew"
"oh" you smiled, a sign of recognition in your eyes "that's you!"
"and you are?" he held the ten dollar note in your direction.
you took the money, taking out his change in the process. "i'm y/n, taylor doose's—"
you were interrupted when the aforementioned man stepped next to you, a frown on his face at the sight of jess. "i'm her grandfather" he finished for you. "and you're gonna stay far away from her, you hear me, mariano?" he pressed.
"grandpa!" you scolded and jess was surprised at the sudden shame that entered taylor doose's face. it seemed like he really gave a damn about your opinion, unlike he did with anyone else in this town.
"well, i'm gonna check on miss patty and her plums" taylor excused quickly and walked away, before you could question him further.
"please don't mind him" you told jess, amusement evident on your lips "i just got back and he's been a little on edge without me here"
"where have you been?" jess asked, intrigued to hear more about the mysterious and pretty girl in front of him.
"my dad's" you replied with an uneasy smile. he recognized the expression on your face, had he always worn it himself when someone had asked him about his parents.
he decided not to stir the pot any more. "well, i'll see you around, doose" jess said, took his glue and left you standing with only a faint goodbye from your lips.
jess' hands went to squeeze your waist, as you closed the door.
you were luckily able to suppress any sound at the sudden touch and you could jess' smirk in your neck.
"very funny, mariano" you whispered, freeing yourself from his grip and turning around to let him see the annoyed expression on your face.
his eyes glistened with happiness in the dark of the hallway, before his hand went behind your back, bringing you closer to him. "why don't we go to your room?" he whispered.
you had to admit that for a short, misguided, second the sweetness of his words was not far away from undermining you.
you shook your head, snapping out of whatever had gone through your head at his tempting suggestion. "nice try" you smiled sarcastically and jess sighed, letting go of you and following behind you to the bathroom.
jess was no stranger to your rejection, especially when your grandfather was home, but he was not finished trying to (respectfully) lead you into temptation.
"there are two options how we can do this" you spoke, your voice in a normal volume as soon as jess had closed the door.
before you could explain his options, he interrupted you, the smirk now basically right in your face when you turned up the light and looked at him. "want me to lock the door?"
"no" you dragged. "you know why? because we are not doing anything forbidden"
"forbidden, huh?" jess smiled "kinda like the sound of that"
"this is not a rom-com"
"oh no" jess shook his head, wearing a faked stoic expression "of course not. just two people doing non-forbidden things in the bathroom" he shrugged.
"it sounds wrong when you say it like that"
"what does it sound like?" he stepped closer to you, ready to touch your lips with his, as his eyes fell close, but you were quicker, swerving around him, before he was able to even touch you.
"nah-ah!" you scolded.
"what?" jess turned around, now crossing his arms like you had done earlier "i'm just trying to kiss my girlfriend"
"not happening" you shrugged. "so, as i was trying to tell you before: you have two options: first, the easy one: let me fix your face and we're done in no time"
"or?" he furrowed his brows, leaning against the wall.
"or" you repeated "the hard one" jess' smile got impossibly bigger and you rolled your eyes "ew, not like you think"
"fine" he sighed. "the easy one i guess, no need to tell me about your torture method"
"it's not a torture method, but thanks for thinking so poorly of me" you muttered, before you opened the drawer under the sink, taking out the first aid kink.
you climbed on top of the counter and motioned for jess to come closer and stand in between your legs.
"well, this is kind of suggestive, don't you think?" he pinched your waist. you just shook your head, taking his hand and laying it on top of your knee instead.
"keep your hands there, mister" you directed, before you grabbed a wet cotton pad and pushed up his chin, so you could gently take the unnecessary blood off his face. "for your own good, i hope that the other started throwing punches"
"of course" jess nodded, overly dutiful, before he hissed in pain as the cotton pad touched one of the scars on his nose.
"you should've thought about that before you got into an unnecessary fight, you know?" you commented, switching out the pad, before you continued cleaning the other side of his face.
"yeah, yeah" he averted his eyes, his gaze falling onto the hem of your skirt, his fingers were laying on top of. he softly raised the fabric, pushing his hands to rest on your bare thigh.
"jess" you sighed in a warning tone.
"what? it's itchy"
"it isn't" you rolled your eyes, but didn't discuss the topic further as you threw away the pad.
you tried reaching behind you to grab one of the plasters from the first aid kit, but jess was quicker, snatching the box away from you and holding it behind his back with one hand.
"wha—"
"give me a kiss first" he prompted, smirking.
"jess" you whined, not amused at his antics.
"just one kiss, come on babe"
you reluctantly nodded. jess stepped closer, taking your chin into his hand and pulling your face closer so your lips could meet his.
his lips were warm and firm against yours, his teasing grin fading as the kiss deepened. what was meant to be a quick peck quickly turned into something more. his hand, which had been holding the first aid kit out of reach, dropped it to the floor as he wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you closer.
you could feel the intensity growing between you two, the playful resistance dissolving into a surge of unexpected desire.
jess' other hand moved to the small of your back, guiding you even closer as the kiss became more urgent, more consuming.
when you finally broke apart, breathless and flushed, he looked at you with a glint in his eye. "was that so hard?" he teased, his voice a little huskier than before.
"oh, shut up" you muttered, flustered and lips swollen as a cause of the intensity of the kiss. you gently shoved his face back. "now pick up the first aid kit you dropped"
"yes, ma'am"
you shook your head, laughing to yourself as you watched him reach for the box on the ground behind him. it had clattered open, revealing it's contents to the ground beneath it.
he threw everything back in the box before he picked it up and came back to the counter to stand in front of you.
you took a few plasters, opening them up to stick them to the cuts on his face. "you look cute" you commented as soon as you were finished.
"i'm not cute" jess exclaimed with a stoic expression.
"you're always cute" you shrugged, now being the one to take his chin into your hands. "especially when you tell me who you fought—"
he didn't even let you finish the sentence, before he pushed his lips against yours once more. even tough it was a clear tactic to avoid your questioning, you didn't mind it this time (not that you did before, but you had to at least act like it) pulling him closer by the neck and deepening the kiss.
jess moaned into your mouth, and your lips broke into a smile. his hands were now inching closer up your thighs and a soft laugh broke from your lips when you had to catch your breath.
"let's go to your room" jess muttered, lips skipping over your neck.
"grandpa is home" you reminded.
"grandpa is asleep" he pointed out, brows moving up and down suggestively.
"jess" you giggled, as he grabbed your waist, setting you down on the floor and taking your hand to leave the bathroom, before even waiting for an answer.
well, you weren't open to any more protests then, as he took you up to your room. the only thought in your head was to stay quiet.
opposite to the rest of the night, the next morning was straight hellfire, as neither you or jess had taken the time to set an alarm.
so taylor doose entered your room without the slightest thought and watched in horror as a half-naked jess mariano climbed out of your bedroom window and fell rather awkwardly on the ground in front of it. probably right into your grandpa's rose bushes.
"i think i might be having a heart attack"

ROMANTIC GESTURE — JESS MARIANO
masterlist
pairing: jess mariano x reader
description: jess wasn’t going to buy your easter basket and risk the embarrassment of his potentially unrequited feelings. so instead, he pays kirk to buy it so he can steal you away.
warnings: bit of swearing, bit of fluff, jess mariano i love u
author’s note: jess mariano stop appearing in my dreams challenge! anyway, hope you all enjoy. this has been in the drafts for ages and i finaaally finished it.
You were perched opposite Rory at Luke’s, on the edge of your seat as you tapped your feet anxiously and leaned on your basket.
“Nobody’s going to buy my basket,” you huffed, “You’re so lucky you’ve got Dean to like, 100% make sure yours gets bought.”
Rory rolled her eyes, “You’re being dramatic, Y/N. The town loves you. Just because you’ve been here less time, doesn’t mean nobody will buy your basket. Hey, maybe stalker over there will buy it.”
Rory was blissfully unaware that despite pretending to be distracted by wiping down the counter, Jess’ ears were practically pricked up like a dog listening.
“Stop calling him that, Rory,” you shook your head, cheeks burning as you looked over at him and he briefly looked up and caught your eye, “He’s my friend. And he said he wasn’t participating, which I assume means no buying as well as no making.”
“Whatever you say, Y/N. But we’d better head over there.”
You nodded, following her down to where Taylor Doose was already stood yelling at the town to hand their baskets in with haste and get ready to begin bidding on them.
Jess was lurking just out of sight, deciding what his best approach was for buying your basket and getting to have lunch with you as a result.
He spotted Kirk meandering over, a lightbulb moment sparking in his head as he dashed over to his side, “Kirk. I need you to do me a favour.”
“Jess Mariano needs a favour from me?”
“Yes— I need you to buy Y/N’s basket for me and then give it to me,” his hands were stuffed in his pockets as he sighed out his request, and Kirk eyed him inquisitively.
“What’s in this for me? And why can’t you buy it yourself?”
Jess huffed, “I’ll pay you 20 dollars. I can’t buy it myself because I told them I wasn’t going to be free to. I’ll be back at the diner, bring me the basket when you’ve got it and I’ll go and meet them with it. It’s a surprise then.”
“Oh,” Kirk stared blankly for a moment, “A romantic gesture. Got it. The whole town have been wondering when you’d finally get together. I’ll tell Taylo—,”
Jess took a step forward, hands flying from his pockets, “Don’t say a word! Just— we’re friends. I’m being a nice friend and buying Y’N’s basket.”
“What if I want to buy Y/N’s basket? I’m her friend.”
“Why would you want it?”
“Because— I don’t know. But I might.”
“Just take your $20 and buy me the basket, and I’ll give you what you paid for it after, Kirk,” he pulled $20 from his wallet and handed it over, “Or I’m telling Luke.”
With that, Kirk nodded and scurried over to complete his ‘mission’.
—
Kirk came rushing into the diner out of breath, basket in his hands and his face bright red, “I got it! I got Y/N’s basket. I paid $120 because a love rival of yours wanted it too, according to Ms Patty, so it was difficult. But I got it.”
“$120? I don’t have—,” he rethought it as he saw you headed for the diner, “Fine.”
He pulled his remaining cash from his wallet, handed it over to Kirk as he took the basket from him, and then wrote Luke a note explaining why he was about to take cash from the register and replace it with savings he had stashed upstairs when he next went up.
You entered the diner alone, no Rory this time, and Jess was relieved. He knew she didn’t like him, so he was happy to have time alone with you.
“Oh, so Mr Too Cool for the Easter basket bid wanted a basket after all and just got Kirk to do the work for him?” you teased, propping yourself up on the counter as you tried to suppress the giant smile forming as a result of his gesture.
“Well, time-honoured town traditions aren’t really my thing,” he shrugged nonchalantly, just a hint of a smile tugging at his lips, “But you’re good at this kind of thing. I thought it’d be nice.”
You placed your hand on top of where his rested on the counter, “Oh wow, are you ill? Is Luke ill? Am I ill and entirely unaware? Jess Mariano— doing something because you thought it’d be nice…”
He shook his head with a laugh, “C’mon, I can be nice!”
“Oh sure. You’ll have to show me this apparent nice Jess now when we go and eat the miserable contents of this basket,” you sing-songed, aware that your hand was still on top of his. You grabbed it, giving it a light tug to urge him to get away to join you now.
“Hm, not sure you deserve it if you’re going to tease me,” he pouted, following you out of the diner anyway as you swung the basket in your hands and skipped along, “Fine. Well let me choose where we go to eat then.”
“Sure. I just wonder where you’ll take me,” you teased, watching a smirk grace his face as he shook his head, “Gee golly I sure hope there’s a bridge involved.”
You’d wandered past him sat on that bridge many a time and it had once been your reading spot instead.
Jess scoffed at your mocking, “It’s quiet, can you blame me? I’ve already had Kirk telling the whole town about my supposed romantic gesture.”
You narrowed your eyes, briefly feeling a pang in your chest at the implied denial that there was anything romantic about him buying the basket.
“So this wasn’t your way of confessing your undying love for me?” you paced your palm to your chest in feigned dismay, “What’s your motive, then? Are you luring me out there to kill me?”
“You’re a pain in the ass, Y/N,” Jess rolled his eyes, “Can we just go?”
“No denial. Wow, I’m gonna die at Jess Mariano’s hands, and the last thing I’ll have eaten will be my miserable cheese sandwiches,” you gasped.
Jess led the way out through the town, clocking that all eyes were on you both, “Bold of you to assume I’d let you live that long. Think I’d get the job done quick enough to eat the sandwiches myself. I am pretty hungry.”
“Well unfortunately for you I put up a good fight when I’m hungry,” you nudged him, “And you’re supposed to be being nice, huh?”
Jess nudged you back, “You accused me of plotting to kill you!”
You just hummed, swinging the basket as you walked at his side and finally reached the bridge. You sat yourself down, waiting for him to follow suit as you immediately began unpacking.
“Wow, someone’s eager.”
“You just spent $120 to eat sandwiches with me Mariano,” you laughed, “You haven’t got a leg to stand on talking to me today.”
Jess shrugged, conceding as he looked into the basket while you pulled out it’s contents, “Pretty good.”
You handed him a sandwich with a small smile, taking one of your own and unwrapping it to take a bite, “In all seriousness, why did you actually bid on my basket?”
Your voice was small, and it warmed Jess’ heart to see you nervous to hear his answer.
“I just thought it’d be nice,” he shrugged, but you could see in the way his eyes lingered on you, as they so often did, that he was being honest now.
You smiled, “It is nice. I’m glad. Rory’s always got something to say when we talk at Luke’s, it’s nice to have time to talk alone.”
Jess quirked his brow with a smirk, “To talk alone? Are you sure it’s not you confessing your love for me?”
You scoffed, but the scoff became a small laugh as you looked at your feet where they swung over the edge of the bridge. Had you given the game away with your nervousness? Would it be clear now that you really did like him?
“You know what I mean, asshole,” you chuckled, shrugging, “I like your company.”
He smiled genuinely again, the glimmer in his eyes sending sparks through your body, “I like your company too. Just about the only person in the shithole town whose company I do enjoy.”
“You’re so poetic, Mariano,” you joked, taking another bite of your sandwich and trying to hide your blush, “But I’m glad. I really—yeah, I just like spending time with you.”
There was a brief moment of silence as you both continued eating, swinging your legs practically in sync with each other as you did so.
“Can I be honest?” Jess almost whispered as he finished his sandwich and leaned over to grab a juicebox, “Nice touch by the way.”
You giggled, “Hey, you can’t beat a juicebox. Gimme one, please.”
He handed you one too, and as you pierced the carton with your straw you’d remembered what he said before, “Of course— Of course you can be honest. What is it?”
He gulped, taking one small sip of his drink and then placing it down at his side, “I kinda did this to help me, I dunno, tell you that I liked you. Thought the gesture would… This feels stupid now.”
You bit your lip, trying to process what was currently happening, “It’s not stupid, Jess. I was hoping that was what this was… I mean, who spends $120 on a basket—,”
“Stop reminding me how much money I spent, please,” he interjected with a groan.
“Sorry—,” you smiled, “I didn’t want to get my hopes up and thought maybe it was just you confirming we were friends, but I’ve liked you for ages, Jess.”
He seemed more than pleased with this, a huge smile spreading across his face as you fluttered your lashes at him and smile right back in his direction.
He clenched his jaw, “Really? Rory’s always teasing you so I thought—,”
“How is someone so intelligent simultaneously so dumb?” you teased, shuffling closer to him and pushing the basket back so that you could move close enough that your thighs almost touched, “She teases me because she knows I like you, Jess. It was her who encouraged me to make a stupid basket to see if you’d bid because that would apparently prove you liked me too.”
Jess laughed, “I s’pose it worked out, then. I—I really like you, Y/N. At first I thought it was just because you were the only person here who isn’t— well isn’t always— a pain in the ass. I thought I’d just found a friend, y’know. But that’s not it, I really like you. I don’t wanna be just friends.”
Your heart was racing, and he seemed to have closed the last remaining gap between your sides. You leaned your head on his shoulder with a happy sigh, “I don’t wanna be just friends either.”
His hand moved to rest atop yours where it was placed on your knee, “That’s made the ridiculous amount of money somewhat worth it.”
“Only somewhat, hm?”
“It’ll only be completely worth it when you’re my girlfriend,” you could tell he was shy about saying that, “So yeah, only somewhat.”
“Is this your way of asking me to be your girlfriend, Mariano?” you grinned, heart still thrumming hard against your ribcage as he tilted to look at you.
“It might be,” he smirked, “But only if your answer’s gonna be yes. If not you’ve like, totally got the wrong idea Y/N.”
You leaned up, propping yourself up with your hands on his shoulder, and pressed a small kiss to the corner of his lips.
He smiled against your lips, reciprocating the kiss for a moment, “Is that a yes?”
You laughed, hooking your arm around his and leaning on his shoulder once more, “Yes, Jess. I’d love to be your girlfriend.”
You sat in silence for a moment, enjoying the sound of only the stream of water beneath you and your synchronised heartbeats.
“Those sandwiches sucked, by the way.”
“Oh I know,” you hummed, “I didn’t want to end up eating them with someone else so thought it wasn’t worth making much effort. Hence me hardly packing much.”
“Well now you’ve just got a hungry, broke boyfriend,” as soon as he said the word broke he was once again reminded of the cost of the basket.
“$120 man. Wow, I really do like you.”

“So, Doose's Market is right downstairs across the block, the post office is on Peach Street, bookstore is on Plum, and the bakery is on Apricot Ave.”
As you stood in what used to be Luke’s apartment which used to be a hardware store office surrounded by your luggage and all your personal belongings, you rested your hand on your stomach which was showing your obvious pregnancy.
“One more fruit street name and you’d have a salad.” Your voice cracked at the awkward joke but you quickly smiled at Jess’ response.
“Well I did forget to mention the gas station and Gypsy’s Auto repair which is on the corner of Cherry and Walnut.”
“Walnuts in a salad, my God Mariano, the years have changed you.” You teased your old best friend.
It brought you back to being 16 in New York and teasing each other, spending all of your free time together. In all honesty, where you were at in life you wished you could just go back to that simpler time. Where your biggest issues were getting Jess to actually show up to school and not mark up all of your books, But seeing how that was impossible, you’d have to make due with what was in front of you. You supposed it wasn’t all that bad, Jess had swooped in and come to your rescue. But when you spoke the words “the years have changed you”, you couldn’t help but notice his eyes move down to your stomach for a millisecond before coming back up to your eyes.
Yes, the years had changed you as well, although it was more like the months did. You were 6 months pregnant with no where to live, no where to go, no job, just $500 in your bank account with no expectation of anymore deposits to be made. But in this moment none of that mattered because Jess took one worry off your plate. A place to live.
“You know I remember that one time I came to visit you here.” Your hand cupped your stomach instinctually before moving to look out the window. “You met me at the bus stop,” you pointed to the bus stop in view, “and then took me to the diner and made me a burger.” With that, you turned back to him.
“Old habits die hard.” Jess shrugged since it was exactly what he just did. Picked you up at the bus stop and brought you to Luke’s.
“Caesar made me my burger this time.” You corrected him.
“And with no ketchup smiley face, I have to add.” Jess tilted his head and lifted his eyebrows.
“Really changed the whole experience.” You nodded in agreement and then the booth of you laughed.
“So, there really isn’t any food here, and I think the only soap Luke has here is an Irish Spring bar from 2002.” Jess was going to the linen closet to look for anything that resembled a toiletry. “But we have sheets.” He pulled out a blanket and a sheet from the closet on the side that used to be his.
“Jess.” You interrupted him, you could have given him a funny sarcastic response but you saw how much he was scrambling.
He was placing the linens on the bare mattress and turned to look at you, tucking his long hair behind his ear.
“I can go to the store, it’s okay.” It was then when you were grabbing your bag from the kitchen table.
“You want company?” He was asking, grabbing his keys.
“Would love that.” You smiled and with that, you were off walking to Doose’s.
The market was cute and had everything you could need in a off-brand label. Jess was holding the basket for you as you added in food and shampoo. As you two stood at the frozen food section, debating the art of the perfect hot pocket, Luke appeared.
The whole interaction was short, less than 2 minutes but it felt like eternity. He was talking to Jess about his mom and TJ, something that honestly was too complex for someone who was new to the conversation to understand, but for someone like Jess who not only knew TJ and Liz but also was privy to information regarding their current distress the answer seemed pretty simple to him despite Luke’s clear frustration. His frustration soon turned to fluster because his eyes moved to your stomach.
It was obvious, he did a full double take. Mid-sentence he looked at you, smiled, greeted you because he remembered you and then went back to talking in a distressed manner to Jess before his brain caught up to his eyes. His eyes moved directly to your stomach and then went wide as his stare went directly to Jess for an explanation.
It was obvious what Luke was thinking despite his lack of ability to say it outloud. The stutters that left his mouth were incoherent but obvious. It was then clear that Jess was related to him because he matched his uncle’s fluster with his own. Trying to explain the situation in stutters, grunts, confused noises and head shakes while Luke similarly flailed around.
When Jess told you Luke was willing to give his apartment up for super cheap every month, you had assumed he was aware of your situation but leave it to Jess to leave out any and all crucial details.
“It’s not Jess’” You interrupted the two men with a neutral voice. “He’s just helping me out in a tough time.”
Luke stood up straight, confusion still littered on his face but relief starting to wash over it. “Oh, uh, it wouldn’t have mattered, I just– kid doesn’t tell me much you know, never has and still doesn’t…” Luke pushed Jess awkwardly with a smile on his face. “I’ll uh,” He brought his hand up to scratch behind his neck and then brought his thumb out to point behind him and just turned to leave.
A chuckle left your mouth as you turned to Jess who looked equally frustrated and embarrassed.
“I’m sorry, he uh, is–”
“So much like you.” You finished the sentence for him and smiled before turning to the freezer section and grabbing the pint of ice cream.
Jess looked at you grabbing the mint ice cream and smiled.
“Toothpaste ice cream really?” He grabbed it from your hand and placed it into the basket.
“Always been my favorite, you know this.” You moved to the check out lanes.
“I thought maybe pregnancy would have altered your taste buds to realize the true disgust of it.” He started to place all the items on the belt.
It was honestly his first time really acknowledging the pregnancy. He obviously was aware of it, but even when he ran into you in New York a week ago he never really said anything about it. He just realized you were struggling and knew he was in a position to help.
“You don’t really talk about it.” You passed him items from the basket as he placed them down.
“I figured you’ll tell me when you want.” He wouldn’t make eye contact with you.
“Not really much to tell.” You shrugged and moved to the cash register as he unloaded the rest of the items.
“$72.56” The cashier spoke as they dropped the items into multiple bags.
As you went to grab cash from your bag, Jess moved and handed the person a large bill before you could even get the zipper open.
“Jess.” You said it calmly, but clearly feeling some way about it.
“I wanted to do this for you before you got here but I got caught up in Philly.” His eyes were genuine, and you took a minute to decide if you were going to continue arguing or not. Ultimately you raised your hands and stepped back and let Jess pay.
As you stepped outside with the bags in your hand, Jess immediately came from behind you and took them out of your arms.
“I don’t want you thinking I’m a charity case.”
“Do you not remember that you paid for everything when we were kids? Pizza, refilling my metro card, my CDs.”
“I didn’t pay for your CDs, just lended you the ones I bought for myself.” You corrected him. “Plus, I had a good job making stupid good money for a 15 year old.”
“Well I have a good job making stupid good money for a 30 year old.” He shrugged.
“His name was Glen and he was in a band and decided touring was probably more important than this. Gave me $500 to take care of it.” You blurted out the sentence while both of you were crossing the street, although you stopped to let the words flow out of your mouth so when Jess turned around he was a few steps ahead of you.
“Glen is a really lame name.” He said it so soft, and you knew what he was really saying with that sentence.
“It was the name of his band, too, The Glen.” You felt the tears in the back of your eyes but you didn’t let them escape.
“Even lamer.” He nodded.
“Thank you.” You stared directly at him.
“Don’t thank me yet, I’m ordering Thai food for us tonight and we’re watching Almost Famous.” Jess was turning around to keep walking towards your new place.
You picked up your pace to keep up with him and called out, “I don’t know if you want to give the pregnant lady Thai food!”

He makes me laugh (Part 3)
pairings: Jess Mariano x fem! Reader
warnings: language(?), pregnant teen reader, insecurities, fight, not proofread!
Words: 2064
Author’s note: Hi friends! It’s been a while but here is the next part of the story again i am so sorry for taking this long to finish it. I hope you’re life has been doing great since we’ve last chatted. I hope you enjoy the story, i know it’s not that good but i will try harder on the next part!
You don’t even care about the fight anymore, it was so stupid anyways.
You’d just gotten to Luke’s after your shift at Doose’s market, when you and Jess started arguing. Arguments these days consisted of the same thing, he was jealous of your friendship with Dean and you were jealous of his friendship with Rory. You both just couldn’t seem to understand that both of you guys were just friends with the other person. Sometimes there’d even been times when Rory and Dean were involved themselves, this was one of those times. You found Jess and Rory upstairs too close for your comfort. They weren’t doing anything, you’d just already been having a bad day and this irked you. Jess told you there was nothing going on, but you didn’t care, honestly all you wanted at the moment was for her to get out so you could be with Jess. So when Rory piped in to also confirm nothing had been going on you snapped at her and asked her if she’d like if you were that close to Dean, alone in a closed room, when she didn’t respond you told her to get out. Jess told you that you were being mean and that if she was leaving he was too, because ‘you were being over dramatic about nothing’. You were too mad to follow after him and stayed upstairs. After a couple of minutes you started to cry. When you calmed down a little you didn’t feel like being upstairs anymore and decided you wanted to go to your apartment, lay down and just forget the whole day even happened and deal with it tomorrow. Unfortunately Luke saw that your face was all puffy and told you to sit down. You did as you were told and tried to stay calm but as soon as Luke asked if you were okay you started crying all over again. Luke being Luke told everyone to get out and told you to tell him everything. You tried to tell him it was nothing, just pregnancy hormones. He told you that he knew you were lying because he saw Jess leave angrily.
“So he did leave with her huh?” You wiped away your tears and tried breathing normally again, “who? Rory? No, Jess told her something and walked away from her.” You nodded your head and you started to feel guilty. “She’s a nice girl, Rory. I don’t know why I'm so jealous of her, but I am. I don’t know what it is but I know she likes Jess and I know she’s with Dean but she likes him, Luke, I know she does. I just need to know if Jess feels the same, but all he says is that they’re just friends but it's not reassuring to me. I feel so stupid. This whole thing makes me feel stupid.” You sigh loudly and try to laugh everything off. “How do you know she likes him? What if you’re wrong?” You shake your head at Luke, “I’m not. She looks at Jess the same way she used to look at Dean, I barely noticed the change recently. I saw them talking on the bench in the square one day while I was at work, and I felt so incredibly jealous, I mean I’d felt jealous before, but this time it was different and I couldn’t really tell why at first until I realized she was looking at Jess the same way I do. That kind of hurt and I tried not to make a big deal of it, but I couldn't figure out if Jess was looking at her differently or not. And that’s when I really hurt my own feelings.” Luke looks at you sympathetically, and tries to give you a small smile, “Is that what you were fighting about today? Is that what you usually fight about?” You nod your head and look away, “Sort of. Sometimes it’s about Dean. Jess started getting real jealous of Dean when I started working at the market, and we usually had arguments about him first actually, then one day I started one about Rory and it’s just a back and forth thing, today it was about Rory. I came here after work and went upstairs and there she was just in love with my boyfriend and I snapped and told her to get out. Jess told me I was being mean and left with her.”
You pause for only a second, in case Luke wanted to say something, but he didn’t, he stayed quiet and let you continue. But you felt as if you were spiraling by now, and you wish he would’ve just stopped you. “Who knows maybe he does like her. Oh crap what if he does? I love him, Luke. He can’t like her. I can’t lose him, and I can't have the only thing in common that we have be this baby.” Luke wraps an arm around you and hugs you, “You aren’t losing him, Jess loves you way more than you realize. That’s for certain. And i’ll tell you how I know, Jess wouldn’t start arguments about Dean, if he no longer had feelings for you. Jess is a troublemaker, but he’s not the kind to go out looking for a fight. He just doesn’t know how to really express himself.” You nod again and cross you arms over your chest, “I don’t know, I just want him to reassure me, everytime we fight about Rory he just tells me I’m looking too into things, or I’m imagining things, and it makes me feel like I’m going crazy.” Luke sighs loudly, stands up and crosses his arms over his chest, “Look, you both need to communicate with each other, you both have reasons of your own of why you are jealous of Rory and Dean. Stop fighting and listen to each other. You both will continue to fight about this until you talk. Don’t walk away from each other and don’t stop talking until everything is resolved. I would hate to see something like this break you guys up especially with a baby on the way. Just fix everything, and stop fighting, you’re supposed to be excited right now, you get to find out the sex of the baby in a couple of days, look forward to that kiddo.” You start to bite at the inside of your cheek, Luke is right, you shouldn’t be arguing with Jess right now, instead you should be sorting out the last couple of details of your gender reveal party. “Okay. If you see Jess, will you tell him that I’m at my apartment?” He nods and you give him a small thanks before grabbing your things and leaving.
When you get to your apartment you decide that you need to distract yourself before Jess comes, if he does anyways. Cooking is the first thing that comes to your mind. If Jess shows up and things don’t go so great at least you’d have food to stress eat afterwards, but if things are resolved then the both of you could have a nice dinner together. You’re still thinking about what Luke said and hope Jess comes home soon so you aren’t overthinking anything.
Jess arrives at the apartment an hour after you did. You were completely immersed in cooking that you didn’t hear the door open, however you could definitely hear the door slamming shut. You turn down the stove heat and turn around, taking a deep breath before facing Jess. You take a few steps away from the stove when Jess comes into view. You try to greet Jess but immediately you are taken aback as Jess grabs the sides on your face and kisses you passionately. Confused with his actions you hardly kiss back, as Jess pulls away he mutters a quick apology.
“I thought you were mad at me?” You ask him, he shakes his head, “I’m not. I mean I was but I’m not anymore. I’m so sorry.” You wrap your arms around Jess and tell him you’re sorry too. “We need to talk about it though, we can’t just kiss, say some sorrys and expect the problem to just go away. We have to work on this, I don’t want to argue anymore, it’s so tiring.” You let go of Jess and take a step back. “I don’t want to argue anymore either, so yeah let’s talk.” You give him a small smile and tell him to sit at the table while you turn off the stove. Once off you make your way to the table as well and take a seat. It’s quiet for a couple of seconds before Jess starts the conversation.
“Rory is my friend. I do not have feelings for her nor have I had feelings for her.” You nod your head, you want to retaliate with something but you wouldn’t be resolving anything. “Okay, I believe you. But Rory has feelings for you.” Jess bites his lip and slumps down in his chair, “Yeah I know.” You furrow your brows at him and stay quiet so he can continue. “After our argument today when we left Luke’s, I asked her if there was any way you were just overthinking and if it was true if she had feelings and she stayed silent so i just walked away from her. I swear I never knew.” You feel relief after he says this, of course not completely because you were right Rory did have feelings for Jess, but Jess didn’t know until today. “You don’t like her?” Jess immediately shakes his head, “No I don't. I do, however, like you. Love you even.” You smiled at Jess and reached for his hand that was on his table. “I love you too.”
“I want you to know that Dean and I are just friends too. And I'm more than positive he is completely in love with Rory.” Jess nods and squeezes your hand, “okay”
You stand up from your chair and walk over to Jess before placing your hands on his face and bending down to kiss him, “I’m sorry for all of the arguments I started” Jess stands up and wraps his arms around you, “I’m sorry for all the arguments I started.” You hug each other and stay wrapped in each other’s arms for a few seconds before Jess asks you what you were cooking before and if you needed help cooking anything else. You tell him you’re making soup and sandwiches and to get the bread and other sandwich things out as you finish the soup.
It felt nice to move on from the arguments and to feel reassured. You hope he feels the same way.
“So the party is in two days, what do we still need to plan?” Jess speaks up, “oh! Um we still need to tell sookie what cake flavor we were wanting, she already has the envelope with the gender. Um Lorelai says coordinating outfits would be cute, so I thought we could go shopping for that tomorrow but if you don’t like the coordinating idea that’s okay! We also need to oh, I think that’s it actually.” Jess nods in acknowledgment, “what about carrot cake, you love carrot cake,” you smile brightly at him, “i think we should do confetti, your favorite!” He shakes he head in protest, “no its makes more sense, carrot cake is not a gender reveal cake, let’s do confetti!” Jess smiles at you brightly, “okay, let’s do it.”
When you finish your food, Jess is the one to start on the dishes, you quickly grab a towel and start drying and putting away the clean ones. The rest of the night goes by quickly and soon enough you’re both in bed ready to fall asleep in each others arms.
“I hope we have a girl.” Jess whispers to you, you smile at the thought of Jess being a girl dad. “I hope its a boy, so he’s just like you, handsome, and funny,” Jess smiles and even though its dark you know he’s turning red at the comment. “I think they’ll be perfect boy or girl though, and well loved by us both.” Jess agrees and kisses your cheek before saying good night. You whisper a good night back before falling fast asleep.

Left Me On Read
Pairing: Jess Mariano x F!Reader
Warnings: Snowballs, other than that, fluff!
Word Count: 813
Summary: You own Stars Hollow Books and have been trying to get home-grown writer Jess Mariano to do a signing for his new book. When you see him in town after weeks of silence, you do the only logical thing. However, logic has never been your strong suit when Jess is around.
A/N: Again, not sure how much traction Jess has on this site but I’m posting this anyway cuz it’s cute af and I just wanna live in Stars Hollow in winter!
Fluffcember Masterlist
Stars Hollow was magical in the wintertime. The town square all lit up with warm string lights, Kirk selling hot cocoa by the steps of the gazebo. It had been the same since you and your mom moved here when you were five. You couldn’t stay away, even when you’d left for college (Columbia, not that it mattered here). After college, you moved back and eventually took over the bookstore from Andrew.
You were walking home through the square when you spotted him talking to his uncle outside of Doose’s Market and you stopped in your tracks. Ever since you’d read his latest book, Stars That Fade, you’d been dying to talk to him about it face-to-face, even inviting him to do a signing at the bookshop you two had so often frequented as teenagers. You hadn’t heard back from him at all in the last six weeks since his book was released, and then he just waltzes into your town and doesn’t expect you to take your childish revenge?
Jess Mariano had another thing coming.
He’d grown up in the last few years, but then again so had you. And he had grown up good. No longer did his hair stick straight up like he’d stuck a fork in an outlet. It lay in thick, glossy layers and was getting long, you were willing to bet he’d be able to pull most of it into a small ponytail. He’d also gotten, for lack of a better word, broad. When you’d met he’d been muscly but thin, almost as waifish as Rory had been.
Obviously, you hadn’t matured as much as you thought, because a few seconds after seeing him you buried your hands in the snow and started shaping it into a tight ball. The broad back of his leather jacket made too tempting a target for you to just ignore, especially since he’d been ignoring you for weeks.
A car passed by and you took aim. Jess was across the street, still talking to Luke with his back toward you. He hadn’t noticed you yet, but Luke had. Luke saw exactly what you were doing and made no move to stop you or warn his nephew — he even tapped Jess’s shoulder to move him a bit to the right and further from the telephone pole to make your shot easier. What a guy, that Luke Danes.
You threw the snowball, hitting Jess squarely between his shoulder blades, sending snow down the back of his leather jacket. He jumped around like a madman trying to get it out and you couldn’t help the loud laugh that echoed across the street. Luke was trying not to double over in hysterics, his hand over his mouth.
“What the hell? Oh,” Jess said, catching sight of you. Your eyes connected and you smiled at him, waving cheekily. “You’re dead!”
He dashed across the street and you took off across the square, scooping more snow as you did. You stood on one side of the gazebo and Jess stuttered to a stop on the other side, his own snowball ready to throw. He moved to the right, you dodged to your left to maintain your distance. This continued until you both stood in the gazebo, each with one foot on the top step below, ready to flee if necessary.
“Come on, you owe me one good shot!” he negotiated.
“You deserved that and you know it,” you said back, trying to hide the smile in your voice. “Consider it my last ditch effort to get a response from you.”
“Well you’ve got my attention, sweetheart. Now, would you act like an adult and let me pelt you with this snowball?” Jess’s eyes sparkled and he shook the hand that held the snowball. How could you deny him when he was so damn irresistible? He always had been.
“Fine, go ahead.” You raise your arms to the side and tilt your head back, allowing him to take aim. The snowball hits the gazebo floor, shattering over the toes of your boots and you raise an eyebrow at him.
“I’m sorry I left you on read,” He approached you and traced his hands down the arms of your coat. “Truncheon has been insane, holidays you know. And then one of our presses went down and that was a whole debacle. How’ve you been?” He asked.
“I’m good. Store’s keeping me busy, but overall I’m good.”
“Yeah? You look good.”
You blushed and glanced away from him. “You look good too, Mariano.”
“Hey, are you busy right now? I was gonna head over to Al’s and grab a bite.”
“I am the opposite of busy right now.”
“Cool.” His dark eyes glinted in the fairy lights above your heads as he glanced at your lips, then back to your eyes. You couldn’t help the fluttering in your chest.
“Cool.”

𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 ─ j.m
ttpd collection ౨ৎ
pairing(s): jess mariano x reader
summary: two lovers are separated by distance, relying on brief, romantic reunions to keep their relationship alive.
words: 1204
warnings/tags: angst, dean forester hate.
you remember how fast your heart stopped when lorelai gilmore told you jess had been sent back to new york. luke beelining for the storage room at the back of the closed diner when you entered to meet with your boyfriend, leaving a sympathetic female figure to deliver the news instead.
no goodbye that night. tear-strucken duvet cover being thrown aside when your lonely home’s phone goes the following morning, his disgruntled voice on the other line begging for forgiveness. it wasn’t the nicest phone call you shared, most likely the worst, ‘why were you not going to school?’ ‘why didn’t you tell me?’ ‘how could you let this happen?’
you were both too scared to bring up the two words – break up. jess promised to see you again and you felt like a bad partner for doubting him, but you only believed he brought it on himself.
late night phone calls and handwritten letters were the only source you had, the only way your relationship with jess mariano didn’t dissipate into an angsty nothingness. to everyone else, it seemed you had moved on, focusing on graduating and finding what to do afterwards. no one aware that when you arrived home you would sit with dinner and listen to his voice for hours.
dean forester walked you home after a long shift at doose’s market, you were no fan of dean – in fact if there were an ‘i hate dean forester’ club where luke would run it, you would be an avid member. but you made small talk as he stayed only a street away from you. you kept up with his pace as you knew jess would be waiting by the phone at this time.
“lindsay’s wanting a big bookshelf in our bedroom so after shift tomorrow i think i’m gonna be spending my time-” you interrupt dean’s words, restless on your spot metres away from your front door, “yeah, sorry dean, listen- i’m really tired, i’m gonna head inside. thanks again.”
your tone was quiet and short, dean catching on with a swift nod and ‘bye’ before trapsing down the street where his wife awaited him in their small apartment. you let out a sigh, held in for most of the day and fiddle with your keys as you find the right bronze, tarnished fit.
you throw your bag and work apron on the floor, kicking your shoes off in one fluid motion as you walk towards your kitchen to make a pack of instant noodles in preparation of cooping up by the couch.
however, your pace slows down into a freeze as your head turns from the tv you were sure you turned off before you left and to the boy who sits on your couch. he still has his jacket on, trainers on the rug as he sheepishly looks towards you.
your arms, which were above your head as your fingers worked the clasps out your tight hair fell to your sides in disbelief. jess stood while you were silent, walking towards you with a welcoming smile.
“i used the spare you gave me, that okay?” jess asks, flashing the rusty key from his pocket before returning it, now standing in front of you. “how- why are you here?” you ask instead, looking up at his eyes which don’t leave yours, scanning the specks of colour that slightly disappear as your pupil’s widen.
“had to see you,” jess replies before both of his hands find purchase of the back of your neck, giving you a long well-awaited kiss. your achy bones lose tension from the simple touch, missing the inhale of your boyfriend’s scent as your fingers grip his jacket, grounding yourself.
jess’ thumbs are bumping your earlobes as his kiss grows more feverish, desperate to have you as close as possible which you don’t mind complying to. “my mom’s staying with her boyfriend tonight, so i had to come back to see you,” his murmurs are pressed against your lips.
“you don’t live close, jess,” you reply, hands sliding under his jacket to be able to feel warmer, his lips trailing off to your cheek and down your jaw as he hums, “drove three hours.”
your heart swells indefinitely, “that’s why you weren’t texting me back,” you giggle while melting further into his kisses against your skin, tears welling up in your eyes from the emotion of it all. it felt like a secret between you both, having him here in the dim light of your living room, the whole town unaware of his temporary return.
jess moves back to look at your face, wide-eyed and content while his thumbs stroke down your cheekbones in a gentle sweep, and the tears fall where his touch acts as wind wipers do on a car window. he pecks your lips during the conversation, making up for lost time.
“can you stay the night?” your question sounds more desperate than intended, the thought of finally not having an empty bed to lie in sounds too good to be true. “wish i could stay forever, baby. i’d have to leave at four in the morning, mom’ll be coming home early to get ready for work,” but your nose nuzzles his, foreheads brushing as you beg him to stay.
with the promise of waking you up at the time he’s leaving you both enjoy your night together, sharing dinner and kissing amid the television programme forgotten in the background. you had missed him, and if it meant you got this night of peaceful return in exchange of the town not knowing, you were willing to be as quiet as a mouse.
only an hour of sleep went by, spending your night in the gentle touch of your boyfriend, shared kisses and helpless conversations keeping you up. before you knew it, jess was awaking you, a gentle kiss to your forehead, soft touches to your skin alongside as it settles upon you.
you’re in your pyjamas while jess is fully dressed, his old clothes you had kept messily on the floor as you walk with him towards the front door. “i’ll try to come by as much as possible, i know i can come every two weeks because that’s when tj has time off to spend it with mom.”
hands are soothing over his t-shirt, your fingers prodding the material fondly, not wanting him to leave, “that’s a lot of effort, jess. are you sure?”. him driving down three hours each time, maybe applying for a college in new york would be worth your time as well as your relationship.
“if it means i get to see you, i don’t really care,” your heart swoons from the dedication, kisses planted to his cheek as you both bid farewell. the cold crisp air hits your face when you open the front door, continued kisses until he can drag himself to his car, “i’ll see you in a fortnight, baby.”
you stand by the door, watching until the car is out of sight, not caring about your tired eyes or the darkened streets, only willing to wait until you see him every two weeks. a temporary solution until you can find a better way, you were uncaring.

THE AMBIENCE OF STARS HOLLOW had never seen the same since jess mariano moved to town. the charming town filled with chilling weather and almost burnt colored leaves were hardly the same. there was something about the leather jacket wearing boy that changed the traditional small town. maybe it was because he was the only atheist in town, taylor doose had spread around the town.
the moment you heard the words utter from the market owner you had huffed. it had never been fair to judge someone for their beliefs or views, unless they were actively hurting someone with their words or of course - physically. that's what you had been taught at least and seemed to have believed throughout all sixteen years of life. so the moment the town came conspiring against the new boy, you were sure to make sure there was someone on his side.
so when you came to work that morning you complimented his band t-shirt. and with that, you seemed pretty much in. it had been almost two months since the boy moved to the small town and you had nearly forgotten life without him. you'd grown very fond of him, despite the rest of the town's opinions differing. but luke enjoyed the two of you and your friendship. "it's good for him" the diner owner told lorelai gilmore, your mother, one evening. she never found herself agreeing but it was hard when she watched him chase you around the diner with an album in his hand. smiles brightly shone on both of your faces.
it was two days later that you found yourself wiping the diner counters after school. earbuds placed in your ears. a familiar melody playing throughout them, your favorite song. one jess had learned was your favorite his third day in the hollow. when you gasped excitedly when it began to play on the radio, singing along making him smile. a grin he quickly yanked off of his mouth when his uncle luke caught him. "sleep with a hanger in your mouth, huh? got a little crush, jessie? aw." he could practically hear luke's words.
so you scrubbed the counters, the sound of the diner bell being unheard as the boy entered. his jean jacket toppled over a flannel. truly channeling his inner john bender. it was easy to spot you. something about the magnetism you seemed to have on him. you were a goddamn fridge. and he truly believed that in a good way.
you nearly screamed when you felt arms around your waist, picking you up quickly. you were quick to realize it was jess as he lifted you off the ground, making you drop the cleaning rag onto the table. you swatted him with your free hand as an earbud fell from your ear. "what are you doing?" you nearly screamed at the boy as your interaction was now the lady liberty of the diner. "got something for ya'."
"is it on the ceiling? i don't think so. so just put me down, jess mariano!" he chuckled at your words as he set you on the ground. you were quick to turn around nearly falling into the boy not used to how close he was standing to you. there was a pretty smirk on his face. one you honestly couldn't stop thinking about. but the envelope in his hand had your attention much more. "what's that?"
"your will to live. picked it up for you off your grandmother's shoe," jess's lips curved at his own words as you fought a smirk. a hum released from your mouth as you reached forward for the envelope resulting in him reaching for it about his head. he couldn't bare the look on your face as you gave him your best puppy dog face. "jess," you whined. pulling the earbuds from your ears and sitting them on the table. "i will strangle you with these."
"but then we can't go see the strokes," he tilted his eyebrows as you furrowed your own. you stood frozen for a moment in confusion. there was no way you were going to see the strokes. you hadn't even able to get tickets the week before when they were being sold. despite wanting to go more than having a left leg. "okay that's a sick joke. even for you."
"me, joke? nev-a." jess smiled as he tapped the envelope to your chest. you had never been more confused as you reached for it, pulling it into your hands. he had taken a step back as you opened the envelope between the two of you. and there they were. two tickets to see the strokes. "jess...?"
"happy birthday," jess joked knowing your birthday was several months ago. you had wasted no time jumping into him, your arms wrapping around him as he wrapped back. picking you up in the process, before you pulled him back down. your arms wrapped around his neck as he laughed into your shoulder. there was doubt every customer in the diner was watching the two of you. the disturbance causing great entertainment for the eating folk. especially luke, who was stood in awe of his nephew. who seemed very selfless in this moment. first time for everything, i guess.
it was three days later that jess mariano found himself staring up at the sky. the dark shade of blue filled with stars that lit the night sky - but they had nothing on you. your beautiful face remained a thought in his mind all night long. until he we would see you at school, where he couldn't help but stare at you as you sat at your seat. smiling at him ever so slightly. he just wanted to hug you. he didn't know why. i mean jess was never one for hugs but god - he could hug you until the poets ran out of rhyme. in other words, until the end of time.
the next week, spider-man was at the stars hollow theater. so naturally, the two of you found yourselves clung together in a red love seat in the small room. several groups of people around you guys, all focused on the film. but jess couldn't keep his eyes off of you. a popcorn balanced in your lap, one he argued to buy you but you won that argument of course. your eyes were locked on tobey maguire while his on you. you noticed the moment you sat down how close he was to you. your legs touching as he leaned in a little closer. jess wasn't the guy to get nervous, no, but he was a little nervous around you.
so when you turned to him twenty minutes into the film, your eyes locking, his heart nearly stopped. "are you gonna watch the movie or what?" you whispered to him, a newfound confidence boosting through you. he could only admire how close your face was to his in that moment. and how much he wanted to kiss you. "hm, i like this view much better."
and with that, his arm wrapped around your shoulders, pulling you in. your head leaned onto jess's shoulder nuzzling into him comfortably. and fuck, he would have thought he died and went to heaven.
nearly two weeks later was the concert. the two of you hadn't seen one another very often since the movie night. partly because you were stuck with your grandparents in maine for a few days, and partly because jess's feelings towards you started to mess with him a little bit. he didn't want to mess up whatever the two of you had first of all, and second of all, he had never felt this way before. sure, he had went on a few dates. but those were dates with girls. but you, you were so much more. you were his favorite person. so, he couldn't fuck that up.
but, the evening of the concert be sucked all his feelings down. not ready to ruin an evening the both of you looked forward to so much, over his feelings. a red baseball tee cling to his waist, his classic leather jacket over it to fight the cold december month. he leaned against the door as he knocked on it loudly, making sure you would hear.
the moment the door opened, he completely forgot the attempt of lost feelings for the evening. the way you looked in your tank top and jeans (and of course leather jacket) made his heart jump a mile. he decided in that moment, that he wanted you. he truly did. scratch that. he needed you.
"hey, jess." your voice was like a simple song turned to a symphony. you immediately noticed his hand on the doorway, his position giving you a great look of him. your heart also raced. god, you're both idiots.
"hey, y/n. you..." jess's voice trailed off as he gave you a small smirk, one that was too familiar. he let out a breath as he stood normally and stepped back. "c'mon."
you wasted no time shutting the door behind you, following him to the car. there was something off about him today. you knew he was avoiding you, you'd called him three times in the past week and everytime luke answered. "uh... he's busy right now, y/n. he'll call you later." spoiler alert, he never called.
the entire car ride reciprocated the interactions between the two of you in the past few weeks. silent, awkward, & non-existent. the radio hummed in the background during the hour drive. jess tapped along to the beat as you got lost looking out the window. it was forty minutes in that you finally glanced over at him. his eyes were on the road, his hand messing around with the radio. "are you gonna watch the road or not?" jess asked, mirroring your words from weeks before.
you let out a laugh, biting down on your lip for a second as you watched him glance over at you. with that pretty boy glance that made you go mad. "i like this view much better." you repeated his own words, a smile appearing on his lips. it was what happened next that made you nearly jump a mile. jess moved his hand from the radio, settling on some black sabbath. his fingers brushed your knee, warmly placing them above his knee. his hand cupped your leg, inching it up slightly. jess rested it directly in the middle of your thigh.
the smile on both of your faces spoke for the two of you. and god, it felt so good. the moment you arrived at the venue jess didn't let you out of his touch. his fingers intertwining with yours as you made your way with the crowd. his warm hands never left yours even when handing the tickets to the bouncers - which of course was a hassle. but you couldn't complain. because the way you felt when he touched you was something unbelievable and something you never felt before. you truly wanted to be his.
standing beneath the stage with hundreds of other people. but all you wanted to do was look at the boy beside you. the boy who bought you tickets for the show. the boy who punched the guy who said he'd have to "double bag" if he got anywhere near you. the same boy who snuck into your room last month when you called him up crying, to simply let you know you had someone. and the exact same boy who you were falling in love with. and who was falling in love with you.
the lights dimmed as the band took stage. the shared smiles on both of your faces and squeeze between your hands was all you ever needed. several songs and several sweet interactions between you two as he watched you dance around and laughed along. singing together as he wrapped his arms around you. and simply simple shared smiles. it was when "last nite" started playing that you noticed him looking at you a certain way. the concert was ending soon. and your seeming fairytale coming to an end.
but the perfect ending to the perfect night had to happen at once. the sweet sounds of the band echoing throughout the venue. his eyes were locked on you, no care for anyone one else around the two of you. his hand gripped your waist, the other already holding your hand. you looked at him, your arms wrapping around his neck, pulling him in closer. and just like that, his lips pressed to yours. your lips moved together passionately something the both of you had both waited for, for months.
"i'm gonna take you home as my girlfriend."

Warnings: Jess Mariano being fluffier and cuter than humanly possible, his adorablness should be illegal or something
Pairing: Jess Mariano x reader
The morning you went in for your shift at Dooses market, you could tell something was off. You could see it in Taylor’s uptight and stressed features, his face even more scrunched up than usual.
“Taylor, are you ok?” You ask cautiously as he comes wandering over to check on you while you stock the shelves.
“Yes, yes everything’s fi- oh forget it I can’t live like this.” He groans dramatically.
For as long as you’d lived in Stars Hollow, since you were born, you had always seen Taylor frustrated or angry. It was just the norm. But once you’d started working at the market, you really started to notice it.
“What happened?” You ask reluctantly, hoping its not another of Kurts messes for you to clean up.
“It seems some miscreant decided to deface the street outside the market with a particularly cruel joke.” He sighs. “I’m honestly surprised it didn’t immediately catch your eye on the way in, that eyesore.” He adds, looking you over quickly for whatever reason.
You take a quick peek out the window and sure enough there’s a big human shaped chalk outline in bright white on the street.
“Any ideas who did it?” You ask, hoping that isn’t your job to find out.
“I know of one who it may be.” He grumbles, gesturing next door.
At first you don’t get what he’s trying to say or who he’s talking about. Then, the pieces click and you feel another sudden wave of annoyance.
“You wouldn’t mind washing it off the pavement would you y/n? It may scare away customers.” He asks, his most condescending tone loud and clear as he glares out the window at the outline.
“Sure thing Taylor.” You mutter with a big forced smile, going and grabbing a sponge and soap and water and going right outside to get to work.
It took you over an hour to scrub the chalk outline outside of Dooses and by the time you’d finally finished, you were absolutely livid.
“Jess!” You shriek, storming into the diner.
Luke glances at you with a questioning look but quickly averts his eyes, not wanting to get involved in whatever Jess may have done now now that he’d seen your anger expression.
“That would be me.” The boy behind the counter grumbles, moving around it to come stand across from you. “I’ll be taking my break now uncle Luke. If I don’t come back in about ten minutes you may want to question y/n here.” He adds, looking over at his uncle before moving towards the door, holding it open for you.
“Yeah, you may want to start that investigation right now.” You add, walking out after him.
“So, why are you mad now?” He asks, an amused look on his face.
“Maybe the damn chalk outline outside the market?” You offer, crossing your arms.
“Oh what, you don’t like my art?” He asks.
You huff a sigh. “That, that is not art! Picasso is art. Writing is art. Tracing a chalk outline on the ground to freak people out is not art.” You argue, glaring at him.
“Who’s to say that?” He counters with another smile that you hate to admit is absolutely adorable.
Though he could be a pain in your neck, you’d had a crush on Jess for a while now for whatever reason, you couldn’t tell. The bantering back and forth didn’t help much, he was always far too cute for his own good, making your mind blank before you can ever make a good comeback.
This time though, you were genuinely angry with all the scrubbing you had to do and your feelings weren’t going to keep you from showing that to him.
“Oh my- just... stop doing things that I end up needing to clean up, alright?” You cry, drawing the attention of all the people around.
“Whatever do you mean?” He asks, feigning innocence.
You roll your eyes. “Don’t even! You literally just admitted it was you.” You say with a small laugh.
“You got me there.” He shrugs.
“So?” You ask impatiently, tapping your foot out of anger.
“What?” He asks, another irritatingly gorgeous grin on his face.
“You gonna actually apologize?” You demand, looking at him expectantly. “Or maybe you’ll just crack another joke?” You add dryly, raising an eyebrow in question.
“Alright. I’m sorry you’re so stuck up.” He shrugs, continuing his walk forward.
You look after him, stunned before realizing what just happened and racing after him. You were used to the bantering back and forth with him but you’d hardly let him get away with the last word.
“You don’t get to just run away like that!” You cry as you catch up to him.
“I’m not running now am I?” He retorts.
You quickly walk in front of him, stopping him in his tracks before he slams into you.
“I could’ve hit you. Very dangerous you know.” He says with an eyebrow raised.
“Jess!” You groan, rubbing your temples in frustration.
He looks at you, clearly amused. “Trying to get a vision or something there?” He asks.
You simply glare in return, practically growling at the boy in front of you.
“Yep, I’m invisioning that outline being of you. It’s a very peaceful thought.” You counter and he scoffs at the idea.
“Peaceful but boring.” He argues with a grin.
“Boring can be good.” You mutter, not at all sounding convincing.
“You sure about that? Because I’m pretty sure you’re not.” He teases.
“Whatever! I’m done with this!” You cry, turning on your heel and beginning to storm away.
He lets out a sigh before chasing after you.
“Y/n wait up.” He calls, jogging up to you.
Finally you stop, placing your hands on your hips and pursing your lips while you wait for him to continue.
“Wow, you sure are a fast walker. Ever thought of going into that professionally?” He notes jokingly, trying to push your buttons. Against your will, you crack a smile at the joke and roll your eyes.
“And?” You ask, shifting your weight from foot to foot.
“And, I’m sorry alright?” He says completely insincerely.
You huff another sigh, scowling at him for a second time in the day.
“You Gotta admit, it was a little bit funny watching Taylor so mad.” He says with a small shrug and you groan, smacking his arm.
“Ouch. You know, your could really hurt someone doing that, you should be more careful.” He says with a small grin so you know he’s kidding.
“It wasn’t funny! Not in the slightest!” You yell with an exasperated sigh. “I have to deal with his angry self! Which usually means taking care of things like that when he asks!” You explain.
“I’m aware. But really, you could just leave and get a job somewhere else.” He suggests with a small shrug.
“Yeah, because it’s that easy to find a position Kurt isn’t fully taking up.” You growl in response.
“Plus maybe it is kind of fun to see those fumes come out of his ears every once in a while.” You admit quietly.
He laughs a little, the smile evident on his face and sending butterflies all over your stomach.
Despite his seeming lack of attention for you, he always sent butterflies fluttering to your stomach.
“The point is though... that stupid “art” took up a lot my time trying to clean it up.” You add, raising an eyebrow.
“Ohh? Suppose the only way to fix it is simple.” He says, actually looking enthusiastic for once.
“Go out with me.” He says out of the blue, pulling you closer.
“What- what?” You ask in a nervous stutter. Sure, you’d had a minor crush on him basically since he got here but you’d never once thought he might return the feeling.
You almost pinched yourself, wondering if you were dreaming.
He stops to think for a second and then looks back over your way with a grin.
“Pick you up around seven. Cya later y/n.” He says with a genuine smile for once and you’re left, standing there like an idiot, speechless. For once, he definitely has the last word.

part 1
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
“Is Jess ever gonna come down?” Luke said passing y/n
“Yeah, he’s only got 3 pages left in his latest book” y/n replied glancing at Luke smiling while refilling coffee cups.
“Can you and Jess hold down the fort? I need to make a grocery run.” Luke asked looking at y/n with a pleading look
“Of course we can, but I want something in return.” Jess said coming down from upstairs wrapping his arms around y/n’s waist before she passed putting the coffee pot back.
“Oh boy” she said before walking over to Caesar taking orders to tables.
“What, you can’t do one simple thing without getting something in return?” Luke asked Jess, well more like stated
“Nope,” Jess said popping the ‘p’.
“Fine, what do you want?” Luke asked Jess giving up
“I want to be able to get off early tomorrow” he answered leaning on the counter
“Why?” Luke said raising an eyebrow
“Why?”
“Yes, why” Luke crossed his arms
“To do something at that time” Jess answering sarcastically
“More specific” Luke stated agitated
“To do something at that time not here” Jess pointed out as if it was the most obvious thing
“Ha-ha real funny. But seriously why?” Luke said dryly
“Do you have to know everything?” Jess asked getting fed-up
“As your legal guardian, yes” Luke answered
“Fine. Y/n’s day off is tomorrow and I have something special in mind to take her mind off of everything that's happened recently.” Jess mumbled the last part so y/n wouldn’t hear.
“Really? I think that’s a good idea, and its sweet.”
“Ah don’t get mushy on me” Jess groaned
“If I had the time I would, but I really need to go to the store,” Luke said grabbing his wallet
“So is that a yes?” Jess asked with a hopeful expression, which Luke did not see often
“Yes, that's a yes.” Luke said with a hint of a smile on his face at the thought of how Jess treated y/n
“Hey, you can’t tell her. You hear me not a word” Jess told Luke so his surprise wouldn’t be ruined.
“Ok, I won’t say a word” Luke assured him on his way to the door
“Good” Jess nodded
“I’ll be back” Luke said before he was off to Doose's
“What was that all about?” Y/n asked Jess as she was checking a customer out at the desk, which didn’t take long considering the customer only had a bagel.
“Oh nothing.” he said walking up behind her kissing her cheek
“Then what did you ask him for in return?” she quizzed, turning to wrap her arms around his neck kissing him
“Oh, you’ll find out” he said before leaning down to kiss her again before breaking the kiss “just not today” then continuing to kiss her as she started to giggle when he moved down to kissing her neck.
^ ^ ^
While at Doose's Luke turned down the next aisle, and bumped into someone.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t-”
“I’m so sorry I wasn’t looking-”
They said at the same time, but both stopped when they looked at each other.
“Lorelai”
“Luke” They said to each other not knowing what to say
“How are things?” Luke asked trying to break the tension,
“Good things are good. Rory is good, not talking to me much. How- How are you?” Lorelai asked him in return. To be honest, she was curious, she hadn’t seen him since that day.
“Good, good, picking up some supplies.” Luke said justering to his basket.
“Well, that's, good. So how are things with Jess and my daughter?” Lorelai said the last part bitterly
“Lorelai don’t be like that they-” Luke started but got cut off by Lorelai, well more like Lorelai’s grauges anger.
“They’re what? They’re what Luke. They lied to me, y/n, y/n lied to me!” she almost yelled at Luke but remembered the rest of the town didn’t know what happened.
“For the love of God. They did it for a good reason. She was afraid you would act like this like you did. Minus the whole kicking her out thing, she didn’t think you would do that.” Luke said to Lorelai pulling her to the back of the store for a bit more privacy.
“Lorelai y/n and Jess wanted to tell you, they did. But y/n was afraid you would react badly Like you did. You never gave Jess a chance the whole town didn’t. She knew you wouldn’t like that she was dating Jess because you didn’t like him. She tried not to because she wanted to be with someone you didn’t hate but she couldn’t help it. And with the way, he treats her you should give it a chance. Talk to her.” Luke finished before walking to check out.
After Luke left Doose's and headed back to the diner, Lorelai was left alone. She knew Luke had a point but she was too angry to listen a week ago and pretty much since.
^ ^ ^
Jess left the diner early the next day to pick up some things he needed for their date tonight. He did, however, plan on stopping by the DragonFly before going back to the diner to pick up y/n.
As he walked in the DragonFly he went up to the front desk where there was on one there so he dinged the bell before putting his hands in his pockets, with the bag dangling from his wrist.
“One second.” Lorelai yelled before entering the hallway. “Oh Jess, uh, what are you doing here?”
“I was picking up some stuff for y/n and I’s date tonight.I stopped by to talk.” Jess said nodding his head down towards the bag he was holding.
“Talk to me? Why?” she asked already giving him the death glare.
“About y/n”
“What about her Jess”
“Look I know you don't like me, and I know you don't like us together-” he stated
“Yes, all very true things. What's your point?” Lorelai said agitatedly.
“My point is, what I came here to say was. My mom never cared about me and never gave a crap about what made me happy, or my interest. y/n, she wanted to tell you she did, I did to but she wanted you to approve of us and since she knew you didn’t she decided to keep it a secret. I get that you hate me, but I am one of the things that makes your daughter happy,I am a interest of hers. And don’t you want to be in her life? Care about her interest, make it so she can come to you and talk to you? Don’t be like my mom, don’t let your dislike for me ruin what you guys have.” he said before turning to leave.
“Jess.. it was big of you to come here and try to fix things, especially knowing how I feel about you, its brave.” Lorelai spoke up
“She’ll be back at the diner by 7 if you want to talk things out.” he said before leaving
^ ^ ^
“The date was amazing” I said as we walked back to Lukes
“I’m glad you enjoyed it I just thought-” Jess said wrapping his arm around my shoulders pulling me into him kissing my temple.
“We could do something to take my mind off of recent events?” I said turning to face him fully
“How’s you-?” he moved his hands to my waist
“You and Luke are not quiet people” I told him giggling, leaning up to kiss him
As we finally reached Luke’s I saw my mom waiting outside the door.
We stopped and Jess whispered in my ear that he would be upstairs.
I walked over to my mom
“Hey” I said awkwardly, shifting foot to foot looking at my hands
“Hi . . . we should talk” she said just as awkward
“Eusebio?” I asked nodding over to it, and she nodded in agreement.
We sat there awkwardly in silence for awhile.
Neither of us really knowing what to say.
So I decided to break the ice, so to say.
“Look I just want to say I am sorry for lying to you. I didn’t want to but I felt it was necessary”
“I get why you felt like you couldn’t tell me. And I’m sorry I made you feel like you couldn’t and that you had to hide it.” she told me with a concern laced in her tone of voice.
“I really do love him mom.”
“I can see that” she mumbled
“And he really love me” I smiled at the thought of when he first said it.
“I know” she said
“What? How?” I asked shocked
“He came by the DragonFly today, to talk to me.”
“Really? I - I didn’t know that”
“After running into Luke at Doose's and talking, an Jess being brave and coming to talk to me I realized I overreacted. Hell, even Sookie talked to me. I was wrong to not just talk to you both sivaly about it. And I overreacted with kicking you out, and I’m sorry. I want to have you back home, I want to understand what you see in him, I want to be there for you and be ok with your relationship. I would like to give him a chance. Mom said with a sincere voice and look.
All I could really think after she said that was ‘what the hell did Jess say’.
“They both talked to you? Wow, we are gonna have to compromise though, mom. Him coming over, me going over. Dates, spending time. You got to let us be us without constant watch.”
“I don’t like it but I know. I’ve got to give, I get it. So. . . you gonna come back home?” she asked looking hopeful
“I’ll come back but not tonight it’s late and I’m really really tired from today and the date, so tomorrow I’ll have me and Jess move my stuff back home ok?” I said trying not to ruin what was just fixed
She let out a breath “yeah, yeah. Oh boy, this is gonna be hard to sleep tonight. Now I’m actually thinking of you two and the same bed.”
“Somehow I know you’ll survive” I told her chuckling a little at her face. I got up walking down the steps of the Eusebio, before I left the last step I turned back and said “and mom thanks. For ya know trying.”
“No problem kid” she said smiling a little smile.

Something about you pt14
Jess Mariano x Reader
Jess’ POV
Y/N was my life now. She was all I could think about. I cant believe that jerk tried to make Y/N hate me.
“Hey Jess go to Doose’s and pick up some food.” Luke says.
“Sure thing.” I say.
I went into Doose’s and Taylor pulled me aside.
“You, will stay away from my niece.” He says.
“Look Y/N can make her own choice.” I say.
“You will stay away from her or else.” He says.
“Or else what? Threatening a minor really?” I ask.
“I wasnt threatening you.” He says.
“Sure..” I say.
“Uncle Taylor what are you doing?” Y/N asks.
“He was telling me to stay away from you.” I say.
“We talked about this I care about Jess. You need to stop trying to take him away.” Y/N says.
“Y/N please.” Taylor says.
“No.” Y/N say my and grabbed my arm.
Y/N helped me with the groceries that Luke told me to get. She helped me bring them inside the apartment.
“So Luke was going out for the night. You wanna stay the night with me?” I ask.
“I dont see why not.” She says.
I thought that all we would do would talk, but we did alot more then that.

preview for an upcoming fic | i can fix him (no really i can) | jess mariano x fem!reader
jess' hands went to squeeze your waist, as you closed the door.
you were luckily able to suppress any sound at the sudden touch and you could jess' smirk in your neck.
"very funny, mariano" you whispered, freeing yourself from his grip and turning around to let him see the annoyed expression on your face.
his eyes glistened with happiness in the dark of the hallway, before his hand went behind your back, bringing you closer to him. "why don't we go to your room?" he whispered.
you had to admit that for a short, misguided second the sweetness of his words was not far away from undermining you.
you shook your head, snapping out of whatever had gone through your head at his tempting suggestion.
"forbidden, huh?" jess smiled "kinda like the sound of that"

word count — 1.5k
a/n — this is the cutest plot ever wtf. i love it, thank you for requesting!!! final post before novemred (check out my masterlist ifykyk). also my taglist form is avaliable now!!
LUKE DANES noticed his nephew's common disappearance the day his cook, caesar, had a free day meaning luke was on his own. which he wasn't supposed to be due to his nephew's daily job in the diner. specifically on the days in which the diner was at its peak or when caesar was out — which was today. but as luke asked lorelai gilmore to watch the diner (bad move) so he could find jess, the boy was nowhere to be found. he wasn't in the apartment that luke had seen him in just an hour ago.
forty minutes later, an ill-tempered diner owner was serving customers who ordered way too much peach pie, noticed his nephew entering the diner. the bell dinged as the teenager entered an unreadable expression on his face. as per usual.
"where the hell have you been?" luke questioned his nephew as jess looked up at his uncle, frowning his smile as he shook his head. the cap wearing biff loman wannabe noticed the bag in jess's hand as he approached the stairs. and all he could hope was, a human head wasn't in it.
last time luke made an assumption on what his nephew did in his 9 - 5, he had suspected that jess received a serious amount of money via being a male escort. but he was proven wrong when he found out his nephew was just a really reliable walmart employee. not luke's proudest moment but, you know.
two days later, jess woke in a rush. he only had twenty minutes before he was expected to be in the diner. but he had to make a pit stop. so, the teenager threw on a talking heads t-shirt over his red shirt he had already fallen asleep in. threw on a pair of pants and made his way to the bathroom to brush his teeth and run a hand through his hair. he decided on not spiking it up today, considering he heard y/n kim tell her best friend rory gilmore that she liked when boys wore their natural hair. jess thought he kind of looked like an 1800s pioneer boy but if you thought differently, then that was enough reward for the ugly haircut.
a pair of converse rushed down the stairs, feeling for his wallet in his pocket. when he felt it he approached the diner. rushing past caesar, knowing he only had nine minutes until work time. he could tell his uncle and co-worker were watching him bolt out the door, crossing the street. he slowed once he got near kim's antiques, turning down the next road so they would think he was going to the music store on the next block.
jess felt like an idiot doing this until he shook his head and made his way to the store. kim's antiques was the most mortifying place in town - besides taylor doose's bedroom maybe. jess wouldn't be surprised if there was a hole in the ground that the man slept in, with his eyes wide open and a basket of pine cones to naw on. but, kim's antiques homed lane and y/n kim. two seventeen year olds who were both seemingly normal human beings. and then mrs. kim. who even frightened jess.
he opened the door, the bell ringing as well. the packed room was like a maze as he walked around it pretending to be interested in the items. none of which he could even name. his hands were in his pocket as his head poked around, looking for the thing that he actually wanted. and there she was. y/n kim. the most amazing girl jess had ever had the pleasure of knowing. not that jess knew too many interesting people, but she was by far the most.
her long black hair rode down her back, matching her black pants. a white sweater she sported, which obviously only showed how beautiful she was. he could get lost staring at her in which he did when he didn't notice satan come up behind him. "what are you doing? you're stealing?"
"jesus!" jess nearly cursed to himself as he backed up, stepping away from the women as she scowled at him. "jesus as in, jesus lover, i am." jess hinted at sarcasm which he was sure the woman didn't pick up on as she nodded in approval. "good, we are a shop of god."
"mama, i think there's a customer interested in the chair in the kitchen." y/n attempted to save jess as she made her way over towards the two. jess perked up at the sound of the girl's voice, trying to make it unknown. she gave him a small smile with her perfectly pink lips. "what chair? so many chairs!"
"in the kitchen. with the green table." the girl told her mother as jess stood looking between the two. mrs. kim perked up as she made her way towards the kitchen. "that is a good chair."
y/n turned her head to jess, a smile slightly growing on her face as she crossed her arms. "well, you've been in here quite a lot lately."
her words seemed to take him aback as he turned towards a table and began to mess around with the old cards and such. his gaze glancing up at hers. "well you know, i needed a...." he glanced around the room his eyes landing on an old picture frame. "...picture frame. there's a picture of luke i just gotta frame, y'know. it's just sat on the sad old shelf luke made. i just love looking at luke."
jess's words produced a giggle from the girl making a smile form on his face. like he just won the lottery. in which he felt like he did. "okay well it's on me since you've become somewhat of a regular," she told him as she began to walk away before turning to look at him once more. "your hair... i like it."
when jess arrived back at the diner, just a minute before his appointed arrival with a picture frame in his hand, luke gave him an odd look. "ooh did you quit walmart? get a picture framing job? picture framer! i didn't take that picture he framed me!" lorelai snorted to an unamused jess as he made his way behind the counter to place the picture frame. and then grab a coffee pot to begin to serve the customers.
"what's up with him? did he watch the episode of fantasy island where tattoo leaves the show randomly? that ruined us all." lorelai touched her heart as she spoke, making luke roll his eyes. "get rid of your insanity or you will be served decaf."
the inn owner gasped dramatically before shutting her mouth and sipping on her coffee. luke sighed as he threw his cleaning rag over his shoulder. "well he's been disappearing lately. i mean he's jess, he does that. but every time he comes back with this orange bag and he's all zoned out."
"wait, orange bag?" lorelai questioned the man as he furrowed his eyebrows, not seeing how this was an important part of the story. "like the one's from kim's antique's? lane and y/n always give us them for groceries and stuff. bright, neon?"
"woah, i mean yeah but what would jess be wanting at mrs. kim's place?" luke wondered aloud making lorelai smile brightly at the clueless man. he was like an eleven year old boy who just learned what sex was, and wanted nothing to do with it. "have you ever thought about the possibility of jess wanting one of two items at mrs. kims?"
"what are you on about now?"
"lucas."
"oh- oh. that's... huh." luke nodded as he watched lorelai's daughter rory enter the diner, accompanied by y/n kim. the two girls spoke in hushed voices as the young gilmore glanced over at jess, laughing as if part of an inside joke. luke turned to glance over at his nephew, lorelai doing the same. it was a safe bet that jess wasn't swooning over lane by the look on his face. he desperately tried to hide it, glancing down at his notepad as he forgot what he was writing. but his eyes couldn't get off of her. the two approached luke and lorelai making the adults turn away from jess. "hey girls."
"hi lorelai, luke." y/n greeted as she and rory took a seat at the counter beside lorelai. she was only a few feet away from jess, turning to glance at him. he was already looking at her which only made both of their hearts race. "hey jess, quick question?" luke butted in, a smile burning through his teeth. jess was about to contradict so he could stare at the pretty girl some more but luke got right in his face. "can i borrow a hundred? i know you're made of money now, since you work at walmart.'
"don't got it," jess mumbled with a straight face making his uncle hold up his hand to cup his ear. "you what now? old man hearing."
"i don't got it, uncle luke. is that what you wanted to hear? your nephew is poor. woo-hoo. let's have paris hilton throw a party." the boy spoke in his normal voice that could argue for hours but lacked the want to do so. his uncle smiled gratefully as he patted his shoulder. "and why doesn't my little boy have a bunch 'a money? is it because he's spending money left and right to get a girl-"
"oh look, taylor just walked in." jess told luke, making the diner owner turn around frantically. only to see three girls holding in their chuckles. jess took this time to grab his jacket and head out the door, luke calling out for him. "you're supposed to be working!"
"i'll be back," y/n told the gilmores as they shared a look, the girl running out of the dinner and down the sidewalk. "jess!" she called towards the dark haired boy making his way to the bookstore. he turned around at her words, his body stopping the moment he saw her. she made her way over towards him, stood directly infront of him. "you can get the girl, you know, if you want. your chances are pretty good."
"oh yeah?" his lips curved up to create his classic bad boy smirk that formed his mystique. she gave him a smile and a nod, him looking away before looking back down at her and smiling. "but you have to buy two more items. i think you're about to spend enough to buy me a car." y/n joked making the boy grin as he pulled her into him, and god, it felt right.

Jess’ POV
As I worked the counter for Luke I saw Rory, Lane, and Dean sitting at a table and Rory just gave me a weird look.
“Rory I need to talk to you about Y/N.” I say.
“Look Jess Im not gonna lie she was alittle hurt that you didnt tell her, but she is over it. She actually has a date tonight.” Rory tells me.
“She what?” I ask.
“She.. Has.. A.. Date.. Tonight..” Lane says slowly.
“So I heard, but who is she going out with?” I ask.
“A guy from school.” Rory says.
“Yeah he was a guy all over Rory, but now he found someone else to go after.” Dean says.
I didnt like this idea at all I have to stop her from going out with this guy. Then I saw her outside Doose’s.

“I heard you have a date. I dont want you to go.” I say.

Something about you pt 2
Jess Mariano x Reader
Jess’ POV
Rory had asked me if I knew who her friend was and the answer was not personally. I only knew that she was Taylor Doose’s niece and he hates me. Yeah she’s pretty and cute and I do have her in classes and she is very smart.
“So what are you thinking?” Rory asks.
“Rory why are you doing this?” I ask her.
“Because Y/N is my friend and your my friend and I am try to make you new friends here in Stars Hollow.” She says.
“Well I doubt the niece of Taylor Doose will actually want to be friends with me.” I say.
“No she will. Y/N is very sweet to everyone.” She says.
“Rory’s right Jess. Y/N is sweet. I used to know her mother and your mother and her’s were best friends. She is just like her mom. I think if your gonna make any friends in this town she should be one of them.” Luke says.
As Rory walked back to the table where Y/N was sitting. I just watched Y/N and thought maybe I could talk to her, but then Taylor Doose walked in and I quickly walked up to Luke’s apartment. Uh being friends with her would make him mad. I’ll talk to her at school tomorrow.
Should I continue on?

He had dark hair and lovely brown eyes and though I only see him around I cant help, but be drawn to him. I know my Uncle would never approve and I only know him by his name Jess. Jess Mariano.
“Hey earth to Y/N.” Rory says to me.
“Sorry Rory.” I say.
“You really like him dont you?” She asks.
“Like who?” I ask.
“Jess. You know he and I talk. I could see if he notices you.” She says.
“Why would he? He is the town bad boy and Im they girl who just like you never ever does anything wrong.” I say.
“So talk to him?” She questions.
“Yes. No. Maybe. I dont know.” I say.
As I continued eating I saw Rory walk over to Jess at the counter and I looked away and the looked back up at Jess smiling at me. Oh god what did Rory do.
