About Mercury

Let's address the elephant in the room first: yes, Mercury began life as a RWBY character. In roleplaying him I moved him so far away from his canon source that it has become easier for me to rebrand him as an oc. Note that no knowledge of RWBY canon is necessary for interacting with the boy, and if anything does come up I'll clarify the necessary context at that point in time.

Default verse (chicken fam) is fifteen. Gender: Binary trans man Sexuality: He'll get back to you on that Birthday: November 7 Species: Fae-changeling Powers: Variant based on verse. ¤PHYSICAL APPEARANCE¤ Hair Color: Silver Eye Color: Silver Plumage Color: Silver Physical notes: Double atk amputee. He uses prosthetic legs as a replacement

Body Shape: Long-limbed and lanky, lean as he gets older but pre-adolescence he's described as having "the approximate proportions of a coat hanger". This is due to a combination of a childhood of neglect + his glamour not being able to completely mask his natural figure. Additional Notes: Mercury's appearance is a natural glamour to make him appear more human. To date he has never been shown without this glamour onscreen. (Yet. ;)

~PERSONALITY~

Brief Description: Again, depends on the verse. The older versions are very cynical and snarky; the youngest is exuberant and chatty. The tween and teen version are a mix of terrified and fighty, though in chicken fam he's coming out of his shell and behaving more like the youngest one. This is due to verses being based on what point he was removed from Marcus' influence. First Impression: He tends to come across as an edgy wannabe rockstar who doesn't care about anyone but himself. Once you get to know them: He is, in fact, a hopeless romantic, longs for companionship, and gets attached to people very easily, despite his best attempts otherwise. Also, he is not a wannabe rockstar but an actually talented musician, singer, songwriter, and performer, and it is only his own low desire for stardom that keeps him from it

Voice Description: He has a very cynical edge to his voice Head-Canon Voice: Played by Yuri Lowenthal Speech Patterns: He speaks in an ordinary, albeit snarky way, however, when his feelings are running particularly high he slips into a more drawling, loose-grammar speech pattern. In the chicken fam and Mercury Ironwoof verse, he also tends to start mumbling or slurring his speech very easily when he is feeling particularly high-energy or when he's nervous. Swearing?: Like he's trying out for the olympics Do they think before they speak?: Not often Do they worry about accidentally offending someone with their words?: It's way more likely that he's going to be trying to offend someone Humor: Very cynical and snarky and irreverent. Past Life/Backstory: Mercury was born to his fairy mother, but in his infancy his mother was assassinated and he was taken on by her assassin to be his apprentice- though Marcus raised him more as a weapon than a successor. At a young age, Mercury lost his legs due to his ‘old man’s mistreatment, and at nine got his first kill as an assassin. At fourteen, Marcus destroyed his guitar, his only means of grounding himself after a lifetime of abuse, and Mercury snapped, murdering his old man and beginning his life fresh. Note: the aftermath of this is generally the turning point for Mercury’s various aus. The Mercury Ironwoof and Mercury Gearloose versions both left Marcus’ care before this happened. Current Life: Depends on the verse. •●INTERESTS●•

Mercury’s main interest is music, especially Queen; he frequently styles himself on Freddie Mercury, his namesake, though his playing draws as many comparisons to Brian May as to Freddie.

His musical talents starts with the acoustic guitar and graduates to the electric; depending on the verse, he also picks up various other instruments, including keyboard/piano and bass guitar.

His knowledge of music extends beyond actual music, and he has developed a deep love for music history.

He also likes comic books and despite being a weak reader, loves ‘reading’ regular literature as well (he prefers audiobooks, though)

We are heading into Mercury Retrograde while still recovering from the highly energized waves that occurred due to the recent New Moon Solar Eclipse.

Those who are highly sensitive to energy will have been sensing the intensity in the atmosphere for the past week or two due to the shadow period that precedes Mercury retrograde, and may have felt highly perceptive, intuitive, and extra sensitive.

Our emotions may have been shifting gears from extremely high to drastically low in a very short space of time leaving us feeling drained, pushed, pulled, jolted and overall as though we are losing control. We may still be experiencing some of the after effects from this, however, generally these intense, whirlwind-like emotions will now be simmering down.

Mercury retrograde is here and it usually tips our lives out of alignment and causes flurries of arguments, troubles, and strife to flare up—however it is so important to remember that it is all for our highest good - purely so our awareness is raised and we see who and what we are prioritising, where we are placing our energy and focus and what needs eliminated from our lives.

We are about to shed many layers of old skin and go through a major transformation and we are more than ready for it. We have been through a major period of soul growth and are now ready to release all the negativity that has been clogging and cluttering up our lives so we can make way for what the new reality waiting for us. Mostly though it is so important and essential to be kind, patient and loving to ourselves and others as we work our way through these highly charged few weeks.

During Mercury Retrograde old emotional injuries may be brought to the surface and we may notice we are triggered more than usual due to past painful memories popping up. It is possible someone from our past may get in contact or we may feel compelled to reach out to someone that we have an unclosed chapter with. When these things are brought to light on the surface the current energy will assist in providing acceptance, understanding and forgiveness and all karmic attachments to the situation will naturally dissipate.

It is worthwhile to tread lightly and with caution during this time, and it is not recommended, unless absolutely necessary, to make life-changing decisions during a retrograde. This is a time for reflection, reexamination, discernment, introspection, and caution. We need to remain balanced and rest in preparation for the life-altering times ahead.

Retrogrades are catalysts for positive transformation and radiate immensely powerful bursts of supercharged cosmic energy that dramatically shake and alter our lives, giving us the opportunity to wipe the karmic slate clean and turn things completely around - always for the better.
