"Around the shadowy bends of the highways and byways of North Carolina lurk dark things of foreboding myths and legends. Early European accounts of North Carolina relate it as “The goodliest land under the cope of heaven,” but these early settlers knew nothing of the dark forces which the native inhabitants knew lurked in the dark.  And, as each new culture arrived in The Old North State, stories followed them from their native lands, bringing tales of creatures and ghosts that can chill the soul."
