Broadway Divas Tournament: Round 4
Two-time Tony-winning dancer-extraordinaire Bebe Neuwirth (1958) is best known for her winning role as Velma Kelly in Chicago (1996) alongside her beloved Annie Reinking. After playing Velma off-and-on for some years, she then took on Roxie, and later Matron "Mama" Morton. Bebe has also won for Sweet Charity (1986), and is a two-time Emmy winner for, of course, Lilith in Cheers. Other credits include Here Lies Jenny (2004), Fosse (2001), and Cabaret (2024), which opened to glowing reviews for Bebe, and dismal reviews for basically everything else. In addition to her beloved stage, Bebe is a devoted cat-lover, and activist. She founded the Dancers' Resource program to provide support for injured and/or aging dancers.
Anika Noni Rose (1972) is a Tony-winning actress known for Caroline, or Change (2004), A Raisin in the Sun (2014), and the 2013 first workshop of Hamilton where she originated Angelica Schuyler. She is also known for being one of the iconic Dreamgirls in the 2006 film, as well as the voice of Tiana in Disney's The Princess and the Frog. In 2011, alongside Lea Salonga, she was named a certified, official, Disney Legend. Her latest Broadway show, Uncle Vanya, just opened this past week.
NEW PROPAGANDA AND MEDIA UNDER CUT: ALL POLLS HERE
youtube
"Bebe Neuwirth, my beloved, I have at last seen you in Cabaret, and I am so sorry. You deserve a far better production, and a far better show social media team that recognizes your abundant talent and rave reviews. Please continue to post cat photos, because they bring me nothing but joy."
youtube
"Does Anika Noni Rose not have a pet? In my quest to get a photo of every Diva with their animal, she turned up empty, so...that's something. Also, her Vanya revival wasn't well-received, so that's two Divas in this poll in substandard revivals. Woo-hoo."

Book: The Nanny Affair, Book 3
Word Count: ~4730 (I haven't written TNA in a loooong time... I had a lot to say)
Song Inspo: "Paris" by Taylor Swift
Summary: Brynn (MC) reminisces about her whirlwind of a wedding day that was filled with jitters and professions of love.
Warning: a little language; fluff; bits of angst
AN: This is my submission for @moodmusicmonday's the Luck of the Draw! I'm not exactly a Swiftie, but this was so much fun, gleaning inspo from a song I otherwise would never have known! Thank you to whoever sent it, and to my amazing counter-part @sfb123 (who... I don't know if y'all know this, but she has been running MMM for most--if not all--of 2023): thank you for hosting this event, sister! You did a GREAT job!
A/N 2: These characters, some of the plot and even some of the dialogue belong to our friends at Pixelberry! Not truly preread or beta'd, so please excuse my errors!
~🖤~
Present
"... tonight on ET, we have the wedding exclusive of billionaire bachelor Samuel Dalton and his nanny-turned-fiancée Brynn Schuyler–"
The glow of the screen flickers to black before hosting a new picture.
"... I'm here with the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mason Dalton. Seeing your son at the altar like that, tell us –"
The soft click of a button changes to another channel.
"...the two are pictured here before they scurried off to an undisclosed location, some believe they are still here in Mexico–"
He turns off the television before tossing the remote onto the coffee table in our suite. He pulls his phone out of his pocket, running an anxious hand through his thick, chestnut waves. No doubt, he's staring at dozens of missed calls and unanswered texts.
I don't know if it was the turning of the bathroom doorknob, or if he could hear my nervous, labored breathing, but he abruptly stops, dropping his phone as he fixes his hungry gaze to me. A crooked smile forms as he devours me with his dark eyes, the flecks of copper reflecting in the candlelight.
Butterflies evade my belly as I stand before him, wearing nothing but the white shirt from his tux. I fidget with the cuffs of the long sleeves as they keep falling past my hands. I can feel him watching my body, an innocent awe etching across his face.
"I hope you don't mind me borrowing your shirt." I blush, averting my eyes as the oversized cotton material slouches off of my sunkissed shoulder, exposing my bare skin. "I don't exactly have anything else–"
"It's perfect," he croons softly. He stalks closer to me, his hands finding mine. "You really think I wanted to see you a moment longer in that dress?" He chuckles, the warmth in his tone exhilarating my senses.
We fall into a comfortable silence, our eyes locked on one another.
We're finally here.
Him. And me. Forever.
------
Earlier that day
“...So as I look to our… to our–” I pause from my neurotic pacing, glancing down at my notes before quickly darting my eyes away once again. I wrote my wedding vows weeks ago, and had no problem memorizing them. But something about today… something is freaking me out.
“So as I look to our future, I vow to… I vow to, um… Damnit!” I hold up my vows again, but with my clumsy, nervous fingers, I accidentally drop the index cards. “Shit! Shit!” I try to catch them as each one floats into various directions all over the floor, some of them finding their way underneath the furniture of my bridal dressing room suite. With a heavy sigh, I crawl on my knees, attempting to reach the ones that fell under the coffee table.
“Happy wedding day–!”
I jump. The sudden chirp of my best friend's voice causes the back of my skull to meet the glass table with an abrupt thud followed by a tearful groan. "Ow!" I fall forward, my face finding the ornate rug as my fingers shield my now-aching head.
"Brynn!" Jenny panics, seeing my body now splayed on the floor. Aditya helps me up, assisting me to a nearby chaise lounge. Marisol fills a tea towel with ice before applying it to the back of my head with care. Jenny plops down next to me, biting her nail in worry. "What were you doing down there?"
I force a cordial smile, holding up a single note card. "Vows," I mutter, the small gesture making me wince from the surge of pain.
"Ahh! Your vows!" Jenny squeals at a higher decibel than normal. "You're finally a blushing bride! Can you believe it?"
"I… I can't believe it." My eyes widen in shock. I'm trying to match my best friend's enthusiasm, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm missing the bride gene. You know; the one that makes you giggle like a schoolgirl at even the dumbest jokes and cry happy, pretty tears at everything bridal.
Me? I think I'm about to hurl.
Jenny grabs my hand, admiring my engagement ring yet again. I blame her pregnancy hormones, and her desire to be locked down with someone. No doubt, she'd prefer Aditya, but at this point, I think she'll take anyone.
"Mrs. Samuel J. Dalton," Jenny singsongs, letting go of my fingers. She clasps her hands dreamily with a far-off daze in her bronze eyes.
I stare back down at the heavy rock on my finger, my arm growing fatigue under its weight. The glint from the sun catches the cut diamond just right, casting blinding fractals in my eyes. I hiss from the abrupt intrusion of bright light to my vision.
Mrs. Samuel J. Dalton, I repeat to myself. "I'm… I'm getting married," I state matter-of-factly as a catch my reflection in the floor-length mirror. "I'm… getting…" my voice becomes softer, more hoarse as I stand to look closer at myself. "I'm marrying Sam Dalton…" I can't seem to catch my breath as I watch my bridal party pop open a bottle of chilled champagne–and a bottle of sparkling grape juice. My voice grows louder, anxious. And terrified. "I'm marrying Sam Dalton… today!"
"Yes!" Jenny celebrates passing me a flute, "isn't this awesome?" She cheers with my glass before I watch the others lift their drinks in my honor. And everyone seems to freeze, staring at me to say something.
Truth is… I have no words. Oh God, what is happening?
"It's… awesome," I choke out, hoping my bright smile will convince them. And convince me. I quickly down the entire glass.
“I’m so excited for you and Sam," Jenny continues to gloat.
"Me and Sam." I take a deep cleansing breath. Right. Eye on the prize, Brynn. Me and Sam. It's just you and Sam. It's just you… and…
“So how’re you holding up?" Marisol takes a seat on a couch, crossing her legs nonchalantly. "I remember I was an absolute wreck at my wedding. Any pre-wedding jitters?”
Jenny chuckles, waving her hand in the air as if the mention of nerves is preposterous. "Jitters? This gal has been dreaming about this day since she met the hottie."
Aditya snickers. He saunters up close to Jenny, wrapping his arms around her waist before taking a sip of his bubbly drink.
I glance around the room, everyone's attention stuck on me. Damnit, I know I'm the bride and today is about me. But does everyone have to be staring at me like that, like I've given them a new hope in love, that love does conquer all, that Sam and I are their new favorite fairy tale?
"Right, Brynn?" Jenny prompts when I stay silent, nodding her head.
“I… feel like I’ve never been more ready for anything." I take a deep cleansing breath before curling my lips into a bright grin. "No jitters. No doubts.”
Jenny claps her hands, bouncing on the balls of her feet. “Then let’s get you to the altar–starting with your dress!”
The dress… my wedding dress… right…

Present
My cell phone rings, the chime breaking us both from the haze of the day. I had put it on Do Not Disturb when we left the ceremony, save for a few numbers. I had a sneaking suspicion of who it was.
And I don't care.
He smirks, nodding over his shoulder. "You gonna get that?"
I step forward, sliding my hands up the firm planes of his chest until I intertwine my fingers behind his neck. I shake my head. "Nothing could be more important than being here with you, being us."
Slipping his arms around my waist, he tenderly presses his forehead to mine. He nuzzles his nose flesh to my skin, eliciting a soft moan from my lips. His mouth is a breath away from discovering my own… when my phone rings again.
He smirks, chuckling at the annoyance and slightly pulling away.
"Damnit," I mutter.
He kisses my temple. "Go ahead," he encourages, "it'll be like ripping off a band-aid." He teasingly spanks my ass. "And then I'll kiss it and make it better."
“Promise?” I snicker, enjoying his hands on me, but reality quickly sets in. My eyes flutter close as my heart begins to pound like a drum in my chest. Just face the music…
I walk over to grab my phone, peering at the screen. I cinch my eyes closed again before swiping to answer the call.
"Hey–"
"Oh, thank God!" Jenny shouts through my speaker. "When you weren't answering, I just assumed the worst–"
"Jenny, I–"
"You guys just left," she nervously titters, "no goodbyes or anything. We went to your room, and–"
"Listen, I can't stay long. But everything is okay. Better, actually. And we're safe. We found another place to stay... You know? Get away from the chaos and the press." I chew on the inside of my mouth. "Can you… tell Moma that?"
"Yeah, of course, but Brynny… are you–"
"Jenny, stop. I promise, I will tell you everything when we get back from our trip. Okay?" My best friend doesn't respond right away, and I'm not sure if my answers satisfy her genuine curiosity.
"I… I just want to make sure you're happy."
I look at the beautiful man sitting on the edge of the bed, resting his elbows on his knees. And suddenly, I am overwhelmed with feelings of joy as I see our future play out in front of me. With our kids. The business. With each other. And it all finally seems so perfectly clear.
"Jen," my eyes sting with pricks of tears, "I've never been happier."
------
Earlier that day…
"Brynn! Brynn!"
Startled, I spin around to see my favorite boys bounding around the foyer. "Whoa, whoa, you guys–" They crash into my arms as I bend down to catch them. I pepper kisses into their handsome curls, breathing in their scent that always feels like home. Gosh, my boys…
Mickey stands tall with his arms behind his back. “Miss Naya told us to give you this!” He pulls out my bouquet of fresh roses, a bountiful collection of gorgeous creams and soft pale pinks. "Tada!"
My breath hitches, taken aback by how absolutely dreamy everything has turned out. This wedding… it… it's really happening. I take the bouquet, the sweet floral notes dancing around me before I turn to look at two pairs of glittering eyes.
"It's almost as pretty as you, Brynn," Mason pushes his glasses up his nose.
"Just like a princess," Mickey chimes in.
“You two look pretty sharp yourselves,” I wink, adjusting Mason’s bowtie before fixing a wayward curl behind Mickey’s ear. "Do you have the rings like we practiced?"
The twins nod their heads in unison, pulling out the velvet boxes. "I promise we won't drop them," Mickey flashes a worried glance.
"Baby," I cup his freckled cheek, "you're going to do just fine." I place my hand on Mason's shoulder. "Both of you."
"Do we have to call you 'Mom' after you marry Dad?" Mason innocently questions.
Mom. The word hits like a brick in the pit of my stomach. I'm going to be someone's mother… not just one person, but I'm going to be a mother of two…
And this is no surprise to me. Afterall, Mickey and Mason are the entire reason I even met this family. I've only known the Daltons for less than a year, and yet, I have been one of the only mother figures in their young lives. When I agreed to marry Sam, it was a package deal.
God, I love them so much. They have given me so much joy, even on days I didn't think I was going to make it. Between the incessant fights and the scandals, these two precious boys have seen me and loved me for me. They were my family long before… well, long before Sam and me…
I can't imagine living a day without a joke or a prank from those two… but being their actual mother? Making sure these two boys grow into successful men?
"Well?" Mickey prompts for an answer to his brother's question.
I pull them both into a tight hug. "You two can call me whatever you want. The most important thing you need to know is I will always be here for you two."
"And Dad," Mickey teases, grinning.
"Right, Brynn?" Mason tugs on my elbow.
"Miss Schuyler," a deep, familiar voice resonates through the waiting area, tearing me from my conversation with the boys. "You are absolutely ravishing, my dear."
"Oh, Mr. Carter, you old dog," I blush as the tall, older gentleman dressed in a neatly pressed tux approaches us. I embrace him tightly as he gives me a chaste kiss on the cheek.
"Well, let me take a look at you," he gleefully laughs, taking me by the hand. He twirls me in a circle, the skirt of my dress flouncing out like a dream. Carter playfully whistles. "Enchanting," he grins, his gray eyes twinkling as his voice grows softer. "You remind me so much of my Evelyn on our wedding day."
My eyes glisten at the mention of his wife. Unfortunately, she couldn't be with us today. Carter says that she has her 'good days and bad days,' I sense the latter outweighs the former, but still the way he speaks of his wife of forty years is precious, the envy of my dreams and future.
I offer him a kind smile, trying to blink back the tears, but I can feel my face begin to flush.
Suddenly, the gentle crescendo of music coming from the chapel notifies us that it's time for the ceremony to start. Carter and I give the boys one more glance, reminding them to walk slowly and to smile. Mickey and Mason hear their cue, and just like we rehearsed, they begin their trek to the altar.
And now... I'm next.
Carter begins to leave to sneak back into his seat, but I grab him by his arm. I start to fidget with the boutonnière on his lapels. "Mr. Carter, I… I… did you maybe… I don't know–"
He takes my hands in his, calming my trembling fingers. "Miss Schuyler, take a deep breath."
I follow his directions, taking a deep gulp of air. "Jitters, right?" I exhale, fanning myself with my hand. "Perfectly normal, right?"
Carter kindly nods, guiding me slowly to the entrance. "When you step in there, find Mr. Dalton's eyes, and you stay focused on them. That's what helped on our wedding day."
"So you were nervous, too?" I glance down the aisle, noticing the twins are halfway to their spots. I quickly step back, my eyes fluttering closed. "And that helped you?"
He curls his lips endearingly. "It helped Evelyn."
"Really?" My eyes widen. "How?
He smirks as he recalls the memory. "We came from different families, you know? And because of that, she was terrified on what was supposed to be the best day of our lives. Seeking the approval of her parents, her family, even some of her friends… It was a lot of pressure on her."
"Gosh, that must've been hard."
"It was," he nods, "but, she said that on that day, she found my eyes… and they said everything that she needed to know."
My heart swoons at the thought. "She saw the love in your eyes?"
Carter coyly shakes his head. He must see my confusion because he gives a deep, hearty laugh. "You are a treasure, Miss Schuyler, just like my Evelyn. A man that loves you will look at you as such, not with greed over what he's getting… but with fear because he sees how much he has to lose; he realizes he would be wrecked, completely devastated without you."
An overwhelming sense of calm washes over me.
Find his eyes…
You are a treasure…
He sees how much he has to lose…
I squeeze Carter's hands, pulling him into one last embrace. "Thank you so much," my voice hitches.
He nods affectionately. "You feel ready?" He helps me adjust my veil.
"Almost." I bite my lip, stifling a mischievous grin. "Mr. Carter, do you mind… walking me down the aisle?"
The most handsome smile sweeps across his face as he buttons the jacket of his tux. With his eyes glittering down at me, he offers me his arm. "It would be my honor."
------
Present
"Is everyone freaking out?" He chuckles, extending his arm for me to take his hand.
I end the call, tossing my phone across the room. "I… don't care," I snicker. "Probably." Slipping my fingers into his palm, he pulls me to his side, my body crashing into him. We both tumble back onto the bed, our grunts turning into boisterous laughter, filling our room.
As our bellies begin to ache and we quiet down, I roll off of him, laying down next to him. We stare at the ceiling, falling into a comfortable silence… that is until I notice him pointing at the textured surface above us.
"What are you doing?"
He chuckles. "When I was little, I used to dream of traveling the world. I tried using my grandpa's old world atlas to map out the perfect trip, and…" He titters, shaking his head with embarrassment, "I can't believe I'm telling you this."
"No," I roll onto my side, resting my hand on his chest. "I love it–I love this." I kiss his shoulder. "Keep going."
He rests his hand on mine, softly drawing circles with his thumb. "We had old popcorn ceilings," he chuckles, "kinda like this textured stuff, and so… I'd imagine it was my own world map. And at night, I would plan my–" he deepens his voice like the narrator of a movie trailer, "--international escape."
"Ooooo, show me, James Bond."
I start to giggle as he takes my hand in the air with his, his fingers curling around mine to extend my pointer finger. "Well, over here is us right now in Puerto Vallarta… and…" he moves our hands together, "up here is New York." He starts to blush, shrugging his shoulders.
"How about–" I guide our fingers to another spot, "--London?"
He chuckles. "I'll pack my knickers," he jokes in a British accent.
"And then Paris," I move our hands again.
"Oui oui, mon chéri," he jokes in his poor attempt to sound French, making me bust out into more titters. He guides us once more. "How about Venice?" He points to another area on the ceiling, his voice growing softer. "Or Athens? Or Bali? Hong Kong?"
I brush my nose against his stubbled cheek, whispering in his ear. "And then where?"
He turns towards me, the warmth of his chocolate gaze fluttering to my hungry lips as he places my hand back on his chest. "To the moon and stars?" The air around us begins to crackle, the electricity igniting our nerves as I feel my heart begin to race. I bite my lip, feeling a rosy swirl dance across my cheeks. "Anywhere. Somewhere else. With you."
I can feel his heartbeat thrum hard against my fingertips, the excitement feeding my desire for him.
I love him.
His large hand intimately caresses mine… but then he stops, looking down at my fingers. Feeling the abrupt disconnect, I follow his gaze and quickly notice he's fidgeting with something.
My ring.
------
Earlier that day…
I thought I knew what I wanted for my wedding day, but in this very moment as Pachelbel's Canon in D romantically announces my arrival, I am overcome with so much emotion as I look around the room. This is everything I ever wanted: to be surrounded by love. My breath shutters as I try to blink away my tears. This… this is absolutely perfect.
Carter pats my hand gripping tightly to his arm as he walks me graciously down the aisle. "There he is," he whispers to me, "look at him."
Sam. He's as handsome as ever in his gray suit and petal pink tie. His eyes twinkle, roaming my body as I draw closer to the altar. He offers me that charming Dalton smile, and everything seems to fade away.
It's just you and me, baby… Finally… after everything you put me through– I mean--that we've gone through…
I can do this... I can do this... I can–
Without warning, Sam gradually turns towards his groomsmen. One of his old fraternity brother's has made some kind of comment, causing some of them to crack up. During my procession.
Sam seems to be responding to the joke or comment. He subtly leans over, but after a few seconds, some of the men snicker, covering their faces and Sam chuckles into his fist, feigning a coughing fit.
It's fine, I tell myself.
Getting himself under control, Sam looks back to me with a mischievous glint in his eye before winking at me.
It was just a joke– an inside joke perhaps. Probably to help with his own nerves. It--it's fine. Everything is fine.
Just… stay with me, Sam. Please stay. I need to see your–
The twins lean up against their dad as he rests his hands on their shoulders. Together, they all watch me with doting glances… that is until one of the velvet boxes accidentally falls out of Mickey’s pocket. In a panic, he bends over to grab the small package, carelessly backing into his brother Mason, knocking off his glasses.
Giving me a crooked smile and shrugging his shoulders, Sam takes a knee to help the boys out, causing endearing chuckles from the audience.
Those two rascals…
I begin to admire my little mess of a family-to-be… until the small hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. My pulse, without explanation, begins to race as a bead of sweat courses down the slope of my back.
Something doesn't feel right.
I can't help, but feel… as crazy as it sounds, like there's another pair of eyes on me. Of course, I realize I have over two-hundred guests watching me as I finish my march down the aisle, but this? This isn't the same. This stare… it's different. It's piercing, and intimate. And I feel… seen. Exposed. Preyed.
Looking behind Sam's crouched physique, a pair of deep, chestnut eyes feast on my every move. But rather than being filled with adoration or even his typical lust, there's a hint of sadness in them, as if they're watching a funeral procession rather than a wedding.
And for the first time today, my heart flutters as a fire kindles in my belly.
I make it to the altar, Carter placing my petite hand in my groom's grasp. I can feel the desire in Sam's eyes wandering across my body. He gives my fingers a squeeze, giving me another adoring wink… but I can't stop looking at him.
Focus, Brynn. Just focus…
Naya gives us a cordial smile before taking the microphone to begin. "Dearly beloved friends and family, we've gathered here today…"
It's no use. I can feel the bile rise in the back of my throat as the room begins to spin. Is it getting hot in here? Or are there just too many people?
As Naya continues, I look back to those haunting eyes, that look of betrayal, that look of devastation… and Carter's words begin to replay in my mind. 'A man that loves you will look at you… with fear because he sees how much he has to lose; he realizes he would be wrecked… without you."
Oh my God… I never noticed this before but… he loves me.
"... speak now," Naya bellows, "or... forever hold your–"
"Wait!" Fuck! What did I just do? The entire congregation starts to quietly murmur amongst one another. Sam clears his throat, his eyebrows furrowing as he adjusts his collar. "I–I'm sorry to interrupt, but… I just… I have a question, and I…" I sigh. "I can't do this–I can't get married unless… I need the answer."
A hush falls over the room, concerned looks are glued on me.
I should just shut up, and go along with this. Isn't that what I've been doing for the past several months anyway with the promise of a happily ever after? Does fairy tale magically happen after we say, 'I do?'
No. In my heart, I know this is the right thing to do. For me.
"Robin?" More whispers erupt behind me as Sam turns back to look at his best man, a pained confusion etching on his handsome features. "Several weeks ago, we pretended to be the wait staff in a restaurant… to, uh… witness a date." Sam raises an eyebrow, looking between Robin and me. "I asked you a question at the beginning of the night. Do you… do you remember my question?"
Robin coyly pushes his fists into his slacks, nodding his head. He exhales heavily, his nose rosy pink with unshed emotion.
My vision blurs as hot streams pour down my cheeks, but my attention doesn't leave Robin. "You… you answered, 'Sure. Sometimes…'" A lump forms in my throat, my timbre growing hoarse. "Tell me, Robin… if I asked you that same question right now, what–what would your answer be?" I choke out a sob, wiping my face with the back of my hands.
He just stares at me. Lost. Dumbfounded. Embarrassed.
I know this wasn't exactly the most opportune time to talk about this, but I also knew this would be our last time to talk about it. Damnit, maybe I was wrong. Carter was wrong. My jitters and my awful gut feeling… wrong.
I look at Sam, his jaw ticking in anger. And he has every right to be. I've made a fool of him, of us.
But I could've sworn I saw something…
"Sorry, everyone," Sam kindly addresses the audience, "we have a case of the wedding day jitters." He fakes a bright smile, the crowd tittering and cooing. At me. Like I'm a joke. Again. Sam takes my hand, but he refuses to even look at me now.
Will he ever take me seriously? I... I don't want to get married like this.
Sam clears his throat, nodding to Naya to continue. "Let's try this again," she chuckles, "we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of–"
"I lied," Robin blurts out, inviting the chaos to continue amongst the guests. He steps forward, pushing himself in front of Sam. "Brynn, you asked me if I ever thought about us–" Gasps and whispers crescendo in the room as Robin takes my hands into his. "And I told you… what I thought you wanted to hear. I mean, for Christ's sake, you swore you were in love with..." The corner of his mouth curls, his eyes bearing it all before me. "I knew better," he mumbles, falling into nervous titters, squeezing tightly to my fingers. "The truth is… Brynn Schuyler... Hell, of course, I think about us. All of the time. I dream of you as my bride. As my wife. As the mother to my children… I've never stopped thinking about us since the moment I first met you–"
Screams erupt as family members and friends jump to their feet. Naya attempts to holler through her microphone to restore order, but it's too late. Our guests that have come to attend a beautiful, romantic wedding have turned into an ugly, angry mob.
I get lost in the shuffle, unable to recognize anyone around me. My name is being screamed in several directions by several different voices, but it's no use. Terrified, I glance around, looking for a way to safety as everything crumbles around me.
Suddenly, a large hand grabs mine, pulling me through the vocal crowd. As we finally make it to the back of the sanctuary, his lips graze my ear. "Do you trust me?"
A rush of exhilaration floods my veins as my natural smile returns. Are you kidding me? With all my heart.
I nod.
"Don't look back, baby," he chuckles, tucking my arm under his. "Run!"
------
Present
"Do you mind, Miss Schuyler?" He smirks, grabbing my engagement ring on my hand.
I roll my lips, trying to hide my smile as I tilt my head side-to-side. "Not at all, Mr. Flores. Please."
Robin slips the jewelry off of my finger before pressing his lips to my now bare knuckle. It was so simple, yet the gesture so intimate; I was finally free.
This man…
Pulling me into his arms, he tosses the ring over his shoulder, an abrupt clink hitting the wall. With his handsome crooked smile, he leans towards me. "Don't worry," he chuckles, "I made him buy the insurance."
"Robin!" I squeal before our mouths meet in a tender kiss.
"What?" He pulls back, cupping my cheek. "I had a feeling."
"A feeling?" I snicker, raising an eyebrow. "That it wasn't going to work out?"
"Ehh, more .." He brushes his thumb across my lips, a serious expression growing across his face. "That you were the one. For me."

🍿 Guess what time it is! 🍿
Let's play Popcorn, where we create a short story by "popping" from one writer to the next! When it is your turn, build onto the overall story. You can even add new plots or new characters. Try to keep it under 300 words, then pass it on (either to another creator or even back to me). This is supposed be a stress-free activity of being silly! Have fun!
---------------
Sitting in a packed bookstore on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Anna Schuyler-Dalton nervously bounces her crossed leg as she readjusts her Cartier watch on her wrist. 6:24 PM. Damnit, where is she? It's about to start.
Anna cranes her neck around the crowd, looking for signs of her best friend while at the same time defending the empty seat next to her.
"Anna!"
"Jenny!" Anna exhales in relief, helping the redhead to her seat. "What on earth–?"
"You're not going to believe what happened," she sighs, rubbing her pregnant belly. "I was…
I was excited to see this! It may have taken me a bit of time to come up with something to add, and I finally DID and I may have not followed the keep it under 300 words bit, not by a lot it's under 500.
Allow me to Introduce..... Christian Meadows 🤣 (IFYKYK)
Now to the story! I've included the original part and bolded where I continued.

"I was…getting ready and you know how difficult that can be.”
“Shhh.”
Anna and Jenny both turn and look over their shoulder to the woman who just shhh’d them. “It hasn’t even started yet.” Anna points out.
Her attention going back to her best friend who continues to rub her swollen belly. If she knew the speaker, and she knew him well, Anna knew they still had a few minutes before he graced everyone with his presence.
“I know how hard it’s getting for you, with you almost ready to pop. I would have understood if you couldn’t make it.”
Jenny lets out a laugh. “Then I wouldn’t be able to tell you who I ran into on the way here.” She turns to look at her best friend, knowing Anna was going to be in for the shock of her life. “I would have to wait to tell you and from the looks of it would have been hours from now.”
Anna gives a quick look behind them, seeing men and women sitting and standing, the crowd reaching all the way to entrance.
Yeah, they would be here for a few hours.
“Who’d you run into?”
“Christian.”
Anna gasps, a chill running down her back but quickly replaced by something unexpected. Crossing her leg over the other and squeezing her thighs a bit tighter.
“H..how…” Anything else Anna was about to say dies on her lips.
Anna never went into much detail with Jenny about her relationship with Christian, it has been years since she seen him.
Now with the mere mention of his name had her wondering if those piecing blue eyes still saw right through her and made her weak in the knees. If those broad shoulders and strong arms would still hold her the same the way…if his lips.
No!
Anna shook her head, her eyes went to her wedding ring. Her husband would be coming out in a matter of seconds to speak to everyone. That is who should be on her mind, not him.
“Who would have thought Christian Meadows would come back to New York—.” Jenny fans herself “How he got even sexier is still blowing my mind.”
“What did he say?” Anna finally whispered, trying to ignore the last bit her best friend said.
Before Jenny could answer, the host announces Sam and a rupture of applause breaks out from the crowd as he walks onto the stage, his gray eyes scanning the crowd until they land on Anna.
Looking back down at her hands that rest on her lap, readying herself to smile when she looks up, but it’s no longer gray eyes staring at her but those far to familiar haunting blue eyes.

Sending it over to @cariantha

Rose: “The flower of passion and style.”
Hallowed Nights: “Tweet tweet.”
Huzzah progress on Jenny’s skins. Got three more to go then her set is done. Roseate, took some inspiration from a certain princess. Hallowed Nights, nothing better suited her than a pretty bird.
Next up, Gladiator.

The Bond of Family
The Bond of Family
Winona and Walter were busy in the little camp they made their home. It was an adjustment but Walter loved having Winona as company. She knew a lot more about building than he did and it came in handy with the new structures they had. New machines, proper tents and best of all, an improved kitchen. It was wonderful.
However, Walter could never deny the sadness he saw in Winona’s eyes from time to time. She’d brush it off, focusing on the task in front of her but he had a hunch of what was haunting her.
Her sisters. It has to be. I know that look. I’ve made it myself.
Today was a bit odd with what Winona was working on. Or rather, it was something Walter wasn’t expecting. He was quiet as he peered over Winona’s shoulder, seeing she was making a locket with a knob on it. His eyes widened as he recognized the design.
“Um… Winona?”
Winona jumped, clasping the locket in her hands.
“W-What!?”
Walter backed off a little.
“S-Sorry, didn’t mean to startle you. I know how it is when you get in your zone but I wanted to ask… that locket. I’ve seen that design before.”
“You have?”
“Yeah, I bought one not too long ago from a shop for Willow. It’s a music box locket, right?”
“... Yes.” Winona showed the locket. “My father was a master at making these.”
Walter looked at it, nodding.
“Schuyler brand if I recall correctly- … You’re related to guy who made these special music boxes?”
Winona chuckled.
“My dad is the owner of the brand. He taught me everything I know about these.”
Walter smiled softly, sitting beside her.
“That’s amazing, Winona.”
“Yeah… Wish I spent more time with him. He made all of his daughters these lockets. On the day we were born, we were given one with our names and a flower to represent us. Jenny had lillies, Charlie had roses and me? I had lavender buds.”
“Heh, that’s so sweet.”
“Yeah. I rarely wore mine because I worried about breaking it but…” Winona dug into her shirt, pulling out her locket “The day I got brought here I happened to be wearing it. They all play a special song our mother sang to us… our father’s precious iris flower…” She smiled sadly, turning the dial as the song began to play.
It was a gentle tune, something that Walter was most certain was supposed to be a lullaby. Walter looked to Winona, eyes going wide as a tear streaked her cheek.
“Winona?”
Winona brushed her hand across her cheek but the tears kept coming. She hadn’t listened to the locket since she came here. Reminded her too much of what she left behind.
How badly it had to have hurt her father and sister.
“I’m… I’m not okay.” She murmured. “Call me childish but… I miss those simpler days. When we were all together and Mom was alive and we had no idea how awful the future was going to be.”
Walter hesitated before bringing his arms around her.
“Trust me, I understand what that’s like all too well.”
Winona was stiff at the gesture but soon brought her arms around him, hugging him tightly. The two sat in silence, letting the music box finish its song. Walter stroked Winona’s back, the woman relaxing into his embrace, her head resting against his. Nothing needed to be said, she just… needed this right now. A moment to grieve in silence.
The silence was broken by the sound of the music box… or rather, someone else’s music box, not Winona’s.
“Do… you hear that?” Walter asked.
It was faint but it could be heard.
Winona’s eyes grew wide as she focused on the sound. It was the exact same melody.
She looked to Walter before getting up.
“I’ll… I’ll be back.”
“I’ll go with you.”
They got up, hurrying to where the sound was coming from, Winona taking the lead. Deep down she was bracing herself for it to have just been some kind of trick or to find nothing but the music box…
But to their surprise, they saw woman lying on a straw roll, curled up around a music box necklace just like Winona’s. The woman was still awake but was clearly trying to get some rest, a very exhausted look in her brown eyes.
Walter blinked, tilting his head.
“Who’s that…?”
Winona didn’t waste another minute as she rushed over to the woman.
“W-Winona!?” Walter called after.
Winona knelt in front of the woman. She rested a hand on her shoulder, making sure she was real before speaking to her.
“Jenny?” she asked.
Jenny took a second to respond as it clicked who was speaking to her. Her eyes grew wide before getting glassy.
“Winnie?” She sat up, looking at her in shock.
“Y-Yeah.” Winona’s voice cracked. “Is… Is that really you?”
Jenny nodded.
“You’re alive… You’re… You’re…” Jenny threw her arms around her. “Oh Winona!”
Winona hugged her tightly, crying out a little.
“Jenny… Oh my gosh, Jen!”
The sisters kept close to one another, tears flowing down their faces as they savored the moment.
“Oh my gosh… You're alive, you’re alive.” Winona stroked her hair. a sob escaping her. “Jenny… Oh my gosh Jen…”
“You’re alive too. I thought… I thought for sure you were gone forever.” Jenny cried out. “Sis!”
“I-It’s okay now… We… We have each other… We… We just need to find Charlie now and then... Is… Is Dad still…?”
“He is. When we find Charlie we’re going to find a way to get home and then we are going to the cabin and we are spending quality time together. Ya hear me?”
“Loud and clear Jen. Loud and clear.” Winona rubbed her eyes a little. “We’re gonna get outta her together. That’s a promise.”
“Sure is.” Jenny grinned before taking a glance behind her. She blinked, taking note of Walter who was trying not to stare. She lowered her voice. “So, uh, what’s your suitor’s name?”
“MY WHAT NOW!?”
Walter stiffened up.
“H-HUH!?”
Jenny snickered.
“I don’t really see you alone with some man, let alone someone so cute.”
Walter turned bright red and if it was possible steam would be rolling off his head.
“I-It’s not like that!”
“Okay, okay, no need to blow up.” She grinned snickering a little. “Either way, got room for one more?”
“Ya kidding me? Of course! I’ll build ya a tent, we’ll get ya a real bed - I’ve gotten good at makin’ cots ya know and Walt’ll make you the BEST meal ever.”
Walter smiled.
“A special reunion dish. I would be honored.”
Jenny giggled.
“Thank you.” She hugged Winona again, keeping close. “Sorry just…”
“No, I get ya.” Winona kept her close. “It’s been too long, Sis… Love you.”
“Love you too.”
“We’re gonna get through this together. Just hope Dad can handle waiting for us.”
“I’m sure he’ll be okay.”
We still need to find Charlie but least we have each other.

Jenny...
Befriending Dahlia...
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Mention of sexual acts, deceit, partying, use of profanity
Word Count: 1,700 approximately
Dahlia, come hang with us, OMG!!! ... Famous request that changed her life... She would give excuse after excuse, but the OMGs would not stop until she agreed. Dahlia noticed that Jenny had been avoiding her since she had shared her feelings... she just was unsure of why...
She was having the time of her life with Dahlia’s usual girl group... which didn’t make Dahlia jealous, it just surprised her. Jenny had made it seem like she wasn’t a people person, but she was definitely not having any issues tonight, and the drinking hadn’t even begun yet.
So Dahlia slipped off to find her a drink, thinking one wouldn’t hurt, and she was sure this would take the edge off of her paranoia. Since the girls were busy “doing them”, she decided to see if she could locate any of the guys that she’d heard so many rumors about. She needed to relax completely after such stressful classes... and a good physical exertion would definitely help her sleep better... The one she would set her sights on was at the top of everyone’s list of “must have”... Her mood was bold and she was up for a challenge... With her mind set on hunt mode, she began her mission to find her prey...
She was feeling a tad bit tipsy already, seeing as how the girls just had to meet beforehand for their usual “girls’ eve”, NO skipping that they insisted... It was fine, she could handle it. She enjoyed “girls’ eve”, which usually included a drink and idle gossip or things that had been coming up in the near future for them to attend together. She had even taken a drink for her friend who’d just found out that she was “in a way” and didn’t know how she was going to inform her parents that her attempts to purchase protection had failed miserably... as she gave it up in the backseat of “his” old school Impala, high off something they both had taken together for what “he” stated was a sex-enhancing pill...
Once the other girls were alone, she admitted to Dahlia that she knew who the father was, she just didn’t want them to judge her over her bad choice in partner. She just found Robin Flores so damned attractive and felt extra special that he had chosen her out of the room full of beautiful girls there... claiming to be attracted to her shy nature. What she didn’t know was that he pegged her for a “closet freak” and only wanted to test his theory... She felt so dumb for trusting the feelings he brought out in her. He did ask if she was on birth control... and she was... She just wasn’t forthcoming about being overdue for her next injection... figuring she would be okay or at least praying so...
Meanwhile, the girls had broken off to seek dance partners, assuming that Dahlia had either gone to the restroom or ditched them and left to do one of the many things she’d rambled off to them earlier.
There would be many hook-ups stemming from this party. When she saw Dahlia grinding on Sam from a distance, her blood boiled. “She hasn’t been at this school but a minute and she is already on him... I’ll fix that!” Jenny goes over to her Sorority sister, Feliciaty, and points out to her that Dahlia is all over “her man”... (Mind you, she and Sam were not an item in any sense, other than a couple of random sex-capades until she turned stalker-like and highly demanding. Jenny knew just how to set things off without getting her hands dirty. It was only known by Jenny, evidently, that she and Sam had been intimate. Well, Jenny thought it was intimate... it was just drunk fucking to Sam.)
“Hey Feliciaty, stay clear of Dahlia, a’ight... She don’t need your kind of friendship.”
Jay had skeletons in his closet, so Jenny had plenty of fuel to spread her fires with... Although the sisters were clearly hearing this interaction, they had no idea who this fine specimen was, but he wasn’t winning this battle, that’s for sure... Now facing each other, they are curious as to why Dahlia hasn’t mentioned him before... He was clearly interested, or so it seemed... “Wait, what did she call him again? Tay? Ray?” Clearly they had found the perfect drinks for a “quick drunk” because neither could remember what was said, and quickly lost interest as a group of frat brothers began their strut past their table.
Jenny’s catch of the night was off getting her another drink, so she slipped up to Jay as Feliciaty stormed off without even taking notice of her. “Hi, Jay is it? I heard you coming to Dahlia’s defense... What’s that about?” He looks at her like she is some two-headed alien on a procreation mission, her facial expression a cross between flirtation and something else sinister. His squinching eyes and puzzled shake of his head assured her that he wasn’t giving her anything but a quick brush off if she wasn’t faster on her feet...
“It’s just that she’s mentioned you before... I think you have a class or two together... something like that... “ Jay’s curiosity is peaked by Jenny’s suggestion... Could it be... Nah, Dahlia seemed too pristine and innocent, but Jenny had him right where she wanted him and she knew it. “She is on the prowl as we speak... Hormones are high tonight... She’s all worked up and tense... I think she was going to see if you’d help her out... Rumor is you are ... Well, you know how you are... So why not go... help a girl out... Just don’t tell her that her best friend let the juice spill on her interest in you... Enjoy your night,” she says with the flick of her tongue across her upper lip. And oh boy, did Jay know what that implied... Dahlia was getting licked tonight!
He knew exactly who she was, and found her type sexy as hell... She was brilliant and beautiful... and NAIVE AS HELL !!! A perfect little plum for his picking... He could see himself wrapped around and under her... He might even see himself dumping his current girlfriend for her... Speaking of, she just sent him that text that said, “Guess who’s not wearing any panties !!! Get here NOW!!! Sex me like you do !!!!!” ... DAMN!!! New or old booty? Just as the question hits his mind, he caught a glimpse of Sam leaving with Dahlia... WTF ??? Wait, was Jenny baiting me or not? Goddamn Sam !!! Oh well, another time, definite ass was waiting for him, and if he knew her, she would already have primed herself so that he could just slide right in and dick her down properly. Mind clear of his absolute dislike of Sam, he answers nature’s call...
Things had transitioned from a nightmare ending to a fantasy night with Sam into a relationship with Jay. She was head over heels in infatuation with Jay. After Sam, she didn’t believe in love at first fuck anymore... She was attempting to learn from her mistakes...
“Wait, his name is Jay...”
“Girl, whateva! He got you past that damned “Dirty Dalton” drama... I don’t care what his name is... Jay... Aaron... Hell, just call him ‘D’, because according to that girlish grin... he put it do-wn!,” making lasso and rodeo gestures, “Ride him, girl!” Dahlia laughs so hard at her teasing that her cheeks hurt, but the mere mention of Sam brings back a different memory of cowgirl action she was planning to give... Not breaking the mood, she refocuses on their conversation.
Across the hall, and unknown to Dahlia, Jay is having to explain the exploding bomb that Jenny had planted on his girlfriend. Lying that he had not sexed Dahlia nearly as good as he had her... “Jenny said that it was your plan anyway, throwing her back under the bus...”
“Well, she came to me saying that Dahlia was after my dick and that I had better act fast... Some bull about keeping my enemy closer and letting her join the Sorority... So that happened, guess who my new pledge is!!!! Fucking personal invite and handpicked as our one guaranteed acceptance!!! ... How the fuck long has this been going on Jay? You know what... We’re done!!! Have fun with the messy lil’ slut!!! I was told Sam got to it before you anyway... Who was sloppy seconds for real? Middle finger that!!!,” said as she stormed away.
When Jay learned of Jenny’s involvement behind Sabrina’s plot all due to Feliciaty, it really had him confused. He didn’t realize the extent things had gone past his control. But it didn’t take much convincing, Jay managed to catch his girlfriend, and after dropping to his knees and giving tongue action, she was happily listening to his pleading for her to give him a final chance. After playing mandingo lover for several rounds, he’d convinced her to let him continue to see Dahlia until she herself could exact her revenge, shattering Dahlia’s dreams of a happily ever after with him... She gave him her word, but he wasn’t to sleep with her without telling her first. She could ruin him with all that she had caught him doing prior, so he agreed.
It wasn’t long after she was whining to one of the girls about her boyfriend. No one quite knew who he was... She only ever said that he was a private person, and didn’t want their relationship spread around. She was easily convinced that if she talked about how well he sexed her, it would only drive others to try him... How was he supposed to resist them then, she was advertising him?
Yet another victim of Samuel Dalton... This one wasn’t bold enough to go after him herself... But she would ultimately feel like she didn’t have to do anything else herself... Her best friend would tear him apart for her...
When innocence is lost, something else sets in...
Love can bring about the ultimate evil in a person... but then was it love if such hatred can spurn from it?

🌹Roses and Hearts❤️
(Text of Valentine's Day and Elaiza's Birthday, sorry for being late, Irmãzinha @annabelle-tanaka-official, you know how i have no time for anything now.)
Angelo was feeling very pleased with Professor Dumbledore's announcement about the Valentine's Day ball, until today all events of this nature were for the boy quite... peculiar, to say the least, but with a very pleasant outcome for the boy. Well, now he had one more chance of everything going perfect, earlier today, with a bouquet of roses in herbology class, with the permission of Professor Sprout, Angel used the final minutes of the class to invite his girlfriend, Penny to go to dance with him, it was certain that they had dated since the beginning of the fifth year, but, Angel wanted to be a gentleman and romantic, because he knew his girlfriend liked it and believed in the power of true love, so he wanted to do something right. As soon as he made the request, Penny accepted him on the spot with a passionate kiss that touched the herbology teacher.
Now he was there, in front of the mirror, in the Transfiguration room, preparing for the ball, André, once again, had made great clothes for everyone.
"Andre, it looks fantastic." Said Angel looking at her reflection in the mirror.
"Thanks, Angel, after your invitation to Penny in herbology class, I thought it would be cool to make you two matching outfits." Andre replied, adjusting Angel's tie.
"I hope this night will be more than great." Commented Angel. "We are not going to have an avalanche of broken cups, or Lockhart to get in the way, everything will be perfect. Thanks André."
"No need to thank, Angel." Said André, but soon he was basically pushing Angel to the door. "Now you have to go, I still have seven more people to wear, before the dance."
Now ready and with several minutes to the beginning of the ball, he decided to pick up the special package for the night. Going up to the dormitory in the Ravenclaw common room, he opened the drawer of the bedside table, and took a small lilac package with a beautiful white pearl bow.
"What do you have there, Angel?" Talbott had appeared behind Angel, he was also already wearing his clothes for the ball, and he was quite elegant, and Angel knew the name of the reason for this elegance, Elaiza Schuyler.
"Ah, Talbott." Angel couldn't help being frightened by the appearance of her friend. "It's just Elaiza's birthday present, I wanted to give it to her today at the ball, and speaking of Elaiza, are you quite elegant, if you produced just for her?" Angel asked provocatively, as he was starting to get used to the idea that Talbott was in love with his little sister.
"Well, it's Valentine's Day and her birthday, so she deserves better production." Talbott replied and Angel may notice a slight flush on his cheeks as he ran his hand through his hair.
"Our girlfriends deserve it, and it's curious that my girlfriend is the best friend of my best friend's boyfriend."
"Now that you comment, it does seem a little curious." Talbott replied.
"Let's go, I still have to get Penny." Said Angel adjusting his red gloves, with a shrinking spell, he made Elaiza's gift fit in his pocket, that would keep him safe until it was time to give it to his sister.
The two boys left the hall with the Ravenclaw, down the stairs to the great hall. On the way the two commented on their requests for the ball, as soon as they arrived at the doors of the hall, the music chosen by Chiara, a jazz arrangement played by a drums, wind instruments, string instruments and the very indispensable piano by Madame Pince.
Entering the hall, the decor was perfect, Badeea and a group of very hard-working students had worked hard to be able to leave the hall with a touch of enchanted forest from fairy tales.
Several couples were already in the hall, some were dancing on the dance floor, others were sitting at the table talking, some were enjoying the appetizers prepared by Jae and his apprentice chefs. In a corner chatting, he saw Ethren @hogwartsmystory and Merula, in Angel's opinion, they were a cute couple, maybe both would complement each other. Next to the appetizer table, Jae was next to Kyril @kyril-hphm, It was almost impossible to see this couple and not think that their love was so obviously chaotic. And looking at Badeea's picture, Jason @death-or-sleep, and McNully commented on the individuals represented there.
In short, everything looked perfect.
"This decor is really wonderful, Angel." Talbott praised seeing the flower arrangements, fabric bands, and Badeea's painting.
"You helped a lot, Talbott, if you hadn't grown the flowers, we wouldn't have enough for the flower arrangements." Angel replied smiling, but he had to admit, the room was beautiful.
"Hey, boys." A voice that made Angel's heart skip whenever she said anything.
Angel turned and found herself in front of Penny, she was beautiful, wearing a bright red skirt, a white shirt with red hearts, her hair was tied in a braid with a red bow, she was just stunning, her bright blue eyes stood out of the colors she used today.
"Honey, you look… magnificent…" said Angel with a smile for Penny.
"Thank you, Kitten." Said Penny, arranging a loose strand of hair behind her ear, while turning red. "You look magnificent too, red suits you..."
Penny came over and kissed Angel's lips quickly, and linked her arm around Angel's arm.
"Tal, where is Elaiza?" Penny asked his best friend.
"She was just finishing up." Talbott replied. "You look very beautiful, Penny, Angel is a lucky boy."
"Well, Tal is right." The blue-haired boy admitted. "I still don't know what I did to deserve that the most beautiful and popular girl at school was interested in the strange blue-haired boy."
"But know that this boy with blue hair has always been the most gentle, intelligent and affectionate person I have ever met." Penny stroked Angel's cheek with a smile. "I couldn't help but be interested in you."
"Aww, this is so cute." Elaiza had approached the three. Wearing a dress with a white skirt with roses, and a black top, her hair flowing and flowing, she was very beautiful.
"Elaiza, wow, I love your dress, it's beautiful." Penny praised Elaiza's dress.
"Thank you, Penny." Then she addressed Talbott. "What did you think, Talby?"
"You look stunning." Said Talbott a little shy, running a hand through his hair, he said the girl. "You look really beautiful today, Elaiza."
At that instant a slow, romantic melody started to play.
"Do you want to dance with me, Penny?" Angel asked, extending his hand to his girlfriend.
"I would love to, Angel." Said the girl accepting the invitation.
The couple walked hand in hand to the center of the dance floor, with fairies flying over couples making synchronized flights forming hearts, as soon as they stepped on the dance floor, Angel recognized the fairy who led the group, it was Eladora, the fairy who he saved and had become his friend. Penny ran her hands around Angel's neck and together they started to move around the dance floor.
"You know, I believe I am very lucky to be here with you, Penny." Said Angel smiling at his girlfriend. "You know, when I first met you, I could never imagine that the most popular and beautiful girl of our year would fall in love with the weird blue-haired boy with a troubled family history."
"I didn't think you were weird, I think you're a cute boy." Said the girl looking at Angel with a smile on her lips too. "I like how you always try to help everyone and solve problems at school, that's very kind."
"If you say you are, but the truth is, I'm the luckiest wizard in the world to have the most beautiful witch on my side."
"Angel!" Penny's cheeks were slightly reddish.
"I am with you, so I could not be in better company, no matter where we are, it will always be perfect if I am with you." Penny smiled at her boyfriend and with that they danced to the music, enjoying a moment without words, just leaving their hearts in sync with each other.
So it happened for two more songs, when they finally left the dance floor and approached a vacant place next to Stephanie @hanihonii who was with Mezure, and Cristiano @chrisception13 with Jenny @jayrart.
"I loved this dance." Penny commented with a smile.
"Yes, it was a lot of fun." But at that moment Angel's gaze strayed to Elaiza and Talbott who had just left the dance floor as well, turning to Penny. "Penny, you know that today is also Elaiza's birthday, so there is something I would like to do.
Approaching the girl's ear, he explained her plan. And when he finished Penny said:
"Aww, how cute, Angel, she will like it a lot."
"I will do that and then I promise that the night will be ours alone."
"You don't have to promise anything, dear, I know you love her." Said Penny stroking her boyfriend's cheek. "This is so adorable, and I love how you always want to make everyone happy, come on."
"Thank you my love." Angel said kissing Penny's lips quickly. "I'll be right back."
Moving away from his girlfriend, Angel crossed the great hall, approaching Elaiza and Talbott.
"Er… Talbott, can I speak to Elaiza, for a minute in private?"
Talbott, who already knew what his friend was planning, just nodded and left without giving any explanation, leaving Elaiza quite confused, turning to Angel with a questioning look, she asked:
"Is there a problem, Angel?"
"No, I just wanted to tell you a few things." He took the gift out of his pocket and with his wand, he returned it to its original size. "Elaiza, since we met, I am sure that our friendship has only grown, and has become so strong, to the point of being one of the strongest relationships I have in life, I know that I am not a Schuyler and you are not a Lancaster, but, Elaiza… I love you, I love you as if you were my real sister, you are one of the most fantastic people I have ever met. "
"Angel!" Exclaimed the brown-haired girl when Angel handed him the lilac package.
She tore the wrapping paper, revealing the blue velvet box, when opening it, Elaiza found a silver necklace, with a violet-shaped pendant, with the happy petals of a purple crystal, and linking all the petals, like a bow , there were the words, 'Siblings', repeated several times, forming an infinite loop.
"I can?" Angel took the necklace and placed it around Elaiza's neck. "In the world of magic, we are always expected to receive a magical gift, but... I hope this necklace can remind you that no matter what happens, you will always be like a sister to me and I will always be there if you need."
Angel hugged Elaiza tightly, her heart was pounding in her chest. The truth was that since they met, Angel and Elaiza had developed a friendship, practically indestructible, there was love in this relationship that is extremely strong, brotherly love, a love of siblings. And the boy couldn't ask for anything stronger and more true.
"I talked to Talbott earlier, and I know today is Valentine's Day and you want to spend your night with him, but..." Angel held out her hand to Elaiza. "Sister, do you accept to dance to the next song with me?"
"What song, shall we dance, brother?" Elaiza asked, holding Angel's hand.
"Well, I don't think we could dance the waltz, after all, she is too romantic, so I hope you like foxtrot."
Angel nodded to Irvin who was standing next to the instruments, and with a wave of the boy's wand, a lively melody at the sound of jazz began to play in the hall. With a smile, Angel led the girl to the dance floor, where they started dancing to the sound of jazz. (https://youtu.be/zt3WKBJqH6M)
"Did you already plan this?" Elaiza asked when Angel put her hand on his waist and she on his arm. Although the difference was also relevant, they found no problems adapting.
"Had I already prepared for my sister's birthday?" Angel asked innocently. "No of course not."
"You are so silly, Angel." Elaiza spoke when they made the first cincronized movement.
"I know, but you love it about me." Said Angel with an amused smile.
"Do you think so?" Elaiza asked with a mocking smile.
"I know it is so, if not, we would not be siblings."
The two youngs seemed to slide down the dance floor with their steps perfectly matched, nor did it seem that this was the first time they danced together. Surprisingly, they were both perfect.
(Reference: https://youtu.be/Zz_v61AjFhQ)
For Angel it was being a lot of fun. It was as if they didn't have to worry about the steps, as if they weren't able to make mistakes.
When the song was coming to an end, Angel and Elaiza whirled in the middle of the track, and the moment the last chord sounded, they both stopped and a bluish fire wrote the words 'Happy Birthday Elaiza' for everyone to see.
"Happy Birthday, Little Sister, that all your drawings come true." With that Angel kissed Elaiza's forehead and hugged her tight.
-----O-----O-----O-----O-----O-----O-----
I couldn't help paying this tribute, even if it was very, very late to Elaiza, one of Angel's best friends and sister. Today Angel's life would not be what it is without this dwarf on your side. And my life wouldn't be what it is without you by my side, Laura, thanks for being my friend, and my sister, thank you very much.
