I have finally got to watch the 1995 BBC version of Pride and Prejudice! I thought to myself, "Oh, surely this portrayal of Mrs. Benett was an inspiration behind Miss Piggy as Mrs. Cratchit in the Muppets Christmas Carol, her voice and manners are so similar". Until I realised that the latter predates Pride and Prejudice by 3 years! Somehow, this adaption feels so much older than it actually is, like it was made in the 60s or early 70s. However, it is definitely a classic, largely due to Jane Austen's wit and Colin Firth's smoldering eyes.
