Mary's Song (Oh My My My) 12/13 - i know this is a big favorite (at least here on tumblr) and i have to agree, it's a fantastic song. taylor's ability to tell stories, whether they're her own or someone else's, is extraordinary. i just love the visuals that come with the lyrics, she's so so excellent at painting a picture for you when she tells a story through her music. i find the song to be very soothing, but honestly sometimes it makes me feel a bit lonely. overall just incredible.
Our Song 10/13 - i think this is a good song but it's not my favorite OUR SONG LOVERS LOOK AWAY. usually i'm really interested in taylor's instrumentals and i'm not a huge fan of that and the production in this song. it's definitely a classic and one that will stand the test of time, in my opinion. i can see why it's so popular and has been since 2006. Great lyrics, though!
I'm Only Me When I'm With You 11/13 - i LOVE the percussion in this song, it really brings it alive! an excellent song that i find myself going back to occasionally. her vocals are great, and the lyrics are so good and mature for the age that she was when she wrote it. destined to write music and it shows!

Tied Together With A Smile 10/13 - Taylor's lower register in this opening of this song is simply gorgeous. very raw in a way. love the way she sings "and no one knoooooows!" the layered vocals are really interesting and cool, and i love the lyrics. favorite lyric is the penny in the rain one. you know the one. beautiful strings as well.
Stay Beautiful 13/13 - this is one of my favorites on the album! it's so cute and so bouncy and fun i just enjoy it so very much. i need to listen to it more often for sure, but i find myself coming back to it when i need to smile. perhaps it's because it feels personal and like something i'd write or say to someone to help them get through a hard day. wish i could hear it live.
Should've Said No 13/13!!! - my FAVORITE song on debut!!!!!! i hear those opening notes and immediately go wild. her country twang in this song is glorious and i love it so much. this song is faster and has a rock-kinda feel to it along with its country roots and i think that makes for an interesting combo. the music video is amazing as well, one of my favorite MVs from taylor. favorite part is definitely the bridge. we love a good taylor swift bridge. WAS IT WORTH IT? WAS SHE WORTH THIS? nooooooooooooOOOOOOO.

let's keep going because i randomly stopped i'm sorry ajkdskjgd
A Place In This World 9/13 - i enjoy this song but for some reason the opening instrumental doesn't hit which is why i gave it a lower ranking. however, once the song gets going with the chorus and the faster drums and picked up beat i really get into it. underrated severely in my opinion. great vocals for someone so young, also. a very honest and beautiful song.
Cold As You 12/13 - WOW what a SONG. not in my top 3 only because i have more memories with the other songs that i ranked higher. this song is so mature for her age and the instrumental is absolutely stunning. i particularly love the verses in this song over the chorus, though that is beautiful as well. it's just so, so well-written!!!!
The Outside 9/13 - i don't listen to this song as often as i should and i'll be real about that. i love the beat and the faster tempo after a slower song, though it's still sad in nature. not a favorite from debut but still a very good song. i enjoy the chorus a lot it's very easy to get into and sing along to. my favorite part is definitely the bridge with the addition of the piano even though it's still faster paced. awesome song.

alright here we go!
Tim McGraw 11/13 - first of all, the plucky guitar is like coming home when i hear it honestly. it reminds me of being younger and listening to this album/song. fantastic song. not my favorite on the album, but it's such a classic that it gets stuck in my head often. my favorite part is definitely the first verse, and i cannot wait to hear taylor's version!
Picture To Burn 13/13 - one of my top 3 on debut! obsessed with the drums in this song and her candid lyrics. the overall metaphor is really interesting because i have burned pictures before as a cathartic experience so it somehow makes me feel closer to this song when i hear it. I HATE THAT STUPID OLD PICKUP TRUCK YOU NEVER LET ME DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Teardrops On My Guitar 11/13 - the first song i ever heard from taylor swift, so i am very attached to it though it's not my favorite from debut. truly a beautiful and devastating depiction of the young and lonely grief of longing for someone you cannot seem to have. her specific use of someone's name makes it so personal and i often think of my own experiences when i hear it. classic forever, amazing song.
