Ĉi tie ĝojas kaj transe ĝojas, ĝojas ambaŭloke la meritfaranto. Li ĝojas kaj li ĝojĝojas vidinte la purecon de sia propra ago.

La meritfaranto (katapuñño) ĝojas tiom en ĉi tiu mundo (ĉi vivo) kiom en la sekvanta (la sekvanta ekzistado) pro la propraj bonaj agoj. Kaj li ĝojas des pli tiam, kiam li komprenas kaj vidas la purecon de la propraj intencaj agoj (kamma). Kion ni nomas “merito” ĉi tie, tio estas la bonaj intencaj agoj. Ĉi tiu merito estas tio, kio envere apartenas al ni. Jen la ununura “aĵo”, kion ni kunportas al la sekvanta ekzistado, la sekvanta mondo. El la kvar specoj de intenca ago, merito troviĝas en la luma ago kaj parte en la luma-malluma. La malluma ago estas la malbono kaj la kvara speco de ago estas trans merito kaj malbono. Merito (puñña) estas enhavata en la kvin preceptoj lernigitaj de la Bena:

Respekti la vivon de aliaj sentantaj estaĵoj,

respekti la posedaĵojn de aliaj, ne preni tion, kio ne estis donita,

diri la veron aŭ lerte silenti, paroli por unuigi la homojn, paroli pace, paroli nur sencaĵojn,

esti fidela por la amparo, respekti la amrilaton de la aliaj,

ne trinki ebriigaĵojn por esti ĉiam konscia pri la propraj agoj.
