It's been quite a while since I did a country-themed list. This one has been sitting in the drafts for a while.

I have discovered that YA books in English featuring Austria consist of only 3 categories:

WW2 (sometimes WW1)

Language justice definition from the checklist developed by Antena Los Ángeles (en ESPAÑOL)

I had the great fortune to take a workshop with Antena founders Jen Hofer and John Pluecker back in August 2019. Since then I’ve introduced the concept in every class I have taught.

Posting some of their resources now, as I think more about language justice in this hyperglobal / hyperlocal moment. Knowledge and info we need may be in languages other than our primary one(s).

Originally, at Antena’s founding in 2010, we thought of it as a collective effort dedicated to organizing, interpreting, and/or creating multilingual spaces. Since then, the daily grassroots work of building language justice has shifted to local collectives in Houston and Los Ángeles, as Antena Aire has focused more specifically on language experimentation, co-writing, co-translating, and other aesthetic and political adventures.

Antena Houston and Antena Los Ángeles organize for language justice, by working with groups, organizations, and communities to create dynamic, well-functioning multilingual spaces. While these collectives primarily work with Spanish and English, each collective has experience collaborating with communities of more diverse multilingualism.
