@jegulus-microfic september 28, debt, 291 words
Regulus’ hand is still hovering in the air where he’s just knocked when the door swings open, and Jesus Christ; it’s not fair that someone can look so good wearing something as basic as shorts and a tshirt.
“Regulus, hey! Let me grab your parcel.” He disappears out of view before sliding back around the corner in his socks, a small parcel in hand. “Here you go.”
Regulus had been out and about when he got the notification that his parcel was arriving today, and had quickly shot his neighbour a text asking if he could sign for it. James had sent back three thumbs up emojis.
“Thanks so much for signing for it, I owe you one.”
Keeping his eyes very decidedly on James’ face and not on the sheer amount of thigh he has showing, Regulus takes the parcel and turns to walk back across the hall to his own apartment.
“Let me take you on a date and consider your debt paid.”
Regulus drops his keys, feels the heat rush into his cheeks as he picks them up and tries to compose himself. He turns back around and says, “Are you trying to bribe me into going on a date with you?”
“No, I was just hoping that you’d want to anyway and this was an easy way to break the ice. So…?”
Regulus tries to hide the growing smile on his face, tries to appear cool and unphased when in reality he can hear his heartbeat thrumming in his ears and his inner monologue is just oh my god on repeat.
“I’m free on Saturday.”
James clearly has no qualms about hiding his enthusiasm, evident in the huge smile he gives him.
“Alright, Saturday. It’s a date!”
