i hate jeffannie shippers for so many reasons. for one, there's the age gap. that's obvious. then there's the fact annie is repeatedly infantilised, making it even more creepy that they'd be shipping someone who often acts and is treated like a child. then there's the fact annie says directly that she doesn't like jeff and that she's only attracted to the idea of being loved, saying that she seeks jeff because if she can get him to love her, anyone can. her supposed "attraction" to jeff is there only to tell the audience about her feelings of inadequacy. it was never meant to be a ship or a real romantic relationship, it acted as a way for the writers to delve deeper into annie's character.

1. jeffannie is objectively a bad ship. like, within the context of the show. but if you harass people who ship it you’re immature.

2. y’all let jeff winger get away with… so much shit. more so than you would if another fictional character did half the stuff he does. and this is coming from someone who loves him! you can’t pick and choose what you want to be canon!

3. if you hate jeffannie but ship britta x annie you’re a hypocrite

4. if you don’t at least casually ship trobed, you watched the show wrong

5. if you don’t at least casually ship redstreet, you watched the show wrong

6. remedial chaos theory is a good episode, but mixology certification is better

7. pierce hawthorne is a good character. i’m not saying he’s a good person (i don’t think anyone would argue that) but he’s a fantastically written character and i want to see him in more stuff!

8. shirley bennett is just as racist and homophobic as pierce. she canonically tried to baptize annie against her consent. she supports conversion therapy. at least pierce is vaguely sort of supportive sometimes.

9. season 4 isn’t that bad. calm down.

10. they’re all bad people! all of them! every single character in that show SUCKS and i love them all!

I understand the Jeff x Annie ship criticism. I do. She was only 18 when the show first started, and he first saw her as attractive (in the Debate episode), which yes, was kinda icky.

But then she grew up. And it got more appropriate because she came to be in her twenties, and she was more mature and older (things which I have previously stated before).

But I think the whole point of Jeff x Annie in the series was that, while they may have been meant to be, and been True Love...they were not meant to be yet. She still had a life to live and experiences to have, which in the end of the series, he decided he didn't want to hold her back from.

Which is why the movie is such an exciting thing. Annie's in her thirties now. She's gone into her dream career, she's had many experiences - and the universe may finally be ready to have her and Jeff together.

To all the people upset Jeff/annie isn’t canon, for starters you’re objectively wrong (in my opinion but like come on they were 18 and like 36 at first kiss) and also imagine being upset a ship isn’t canon because dispite them kissing and having a will they won’t they the whole show. Get on my level and ship characters that aren’t gay and won’t get together but still put your whole soul into manifesting it

remember when annie literally talked to annie!abed and came to the definite conclusion that she does not love jeff, never really has, and really only needed the feeling of being loved, creating the seeming end to a three-season arc, then immediately backtracked in the next season about fifteen episodes later by getting giddy like a child when a hotel thought she was jeff's wife.
