Quote
I'm saying that I'm a moody, insecure, narrow-minded, jealous, borderline homicidal bitch, and I want you to promise me that you're okay with that, because it's who I am, and you're what I need.

Once Burned (#1)
She's a mortal with dark powers...
After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude...until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire...
He's the Prince of Night...
Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all—but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him—a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

Vlad seemed to stare past my skin into places of my soul that I'd never shared with anyone, and in the space of those moments, he claimed them as his.
I gazed at him with equal possessiveness. Whatever he'd done, whoever he'd been before and whoever he would be in the future, he was mine. If he still had shields over parts of his heart, I'd tear them down or blast them open.
You can have all of me, I silently told him, but I'm taking all of you in return.

Night Huntress Series Bones's POV Book 2: Both Feet in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
If you thought you learned more about the dangerous and sexy alpha vampire, Bones, in The Other Half of the Grave, you haven't seen anything yet...
This is Bones, in his own words…
Two hundred years of bounty hunting made Bones the best at what he does, yet it's still taken him four long years to find Cat, the half vampire now known as the "Red Reaper." There's a price on Cat's head, and not even her job as a secret government agent can save her. Only Bones can. But has time hardened Bones too much to love again? Or will his passion for Cat burn through every obstacle—alive, undead, or otherwise—between them?

My Review: 5/5 Stars
It's book two of the Night Huntress series but this time, it's time for Bones to tell the story. And gotta say, being in Bones's pov, it is super entertaining! What I really liked about having this book in his point of view is that we got to see how he was feeling and what he was going through as he searched for Cat and finally made his way back to her after searching for years with no success. We see his heartbreak and his hope and love when they are reunited. We see his determination to never let her go again. It's been a long time since I've read the series so I didn't remember all the details at first. So in a way it felt like reading something almost new, but at the same time bits and pieces came back. And again, being in a new point of view means you get to see a whole other side of a story. There is always more to see and learn. We get the reunion and the trouble with Ian after he meets Cat and is fascinated. And of course the result of this fight. It was super fun to be back in this series.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I can't recommend this urban fantasy saga with vampires and ghouls enough, I need more people to join this fandom.
So!
These are the strong points:
Action-packed chapters. Jeaniene Frost KNOWS how to describe action scenes in a perfect way. The entire narrative is very dynamic, I really like it and I'm trying to learn from her. She won't waste time describing endless paragraphs of nothing.
Hot scenes. I mean actually hot scenes that made me blush and look away because, DAMN! And I have to look away every time I re- read them.
Defined characters: the author isn't afraid to up the scales and put her characters through the grinder, and their personalities are very well defined. Not two of them are the same and I love that. They have their failures, and I love them even more for that.
Expanded world: the main saga is about Cat and Bones but the extra novels set in the same world are top-tier as well. Which brings me to my next point:
It's many books long, which I love.
Vampires: not twilight vampires, not classic Dracula either. These vampires are interesting, even their rules are interesting. Plus they aren't all white, as certain bestseller (it's you, twilight) tried to sell. Jeaniene goes hard on the variety and I'm very much here for that. God bless actual good authors and their vampire characters, I love it.
Other creatures: the world is very well constructed and other creatures and realms are introduced in a natural way.
Plot twists: well thought of, adrenaline-inducing even after reading them more than 2 or 3 times.
That's it. Please, read these books and join meeeeeee
““Do you think I’m pretty?” I heard myself ask. Something I couldn’t name flashed across his face. “No. I don’t think you’re pretty. I think you’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen.””
