Hip Hop taught me about Yusuf Hawkins in 1989. I’m glad to receive and hopefully give valuable information, insight, art and energy via this culture but I’m also depressed that we have not broken from the grips of white supremacy. Look at history, remember what it takes to agitate the system, learn from past mistakes and fight the best way you can. Don’t worry about being “respectable” by the standards of your enemy. Secure victory for future generations. #yusufhawkins #rodneyking #eleanorbumpers #latashaharlins #mikebrown #vonderittmyers #breonnataylor #georgefloyd #philandocastile #sandrabland #jacobblake #trayvonmartin #altonsterling #korryngaines #atianajefferson #aiyanajones #rekiaboyd #ericgarner #andresguardado #seanmonterrosa #paulcastaway #allenlocke #jeanettariley #endwhitesupremacy #endpolicebrutality #capitalismkills #burnitdown #blackpower #fuckrespectabilitypolitics https://www.instagram.com/p/CEV_fbZBLFa/?igshid=18540fz6906ma

Words by @womensmarch: "On this day of #RevolutionaryLove, and in honor of Vancouver's annual Women's Memorial Walk for missing and murdered Indigenous sisters, let's celebrate Indigenous resistance and send love to families dealing with the loss of their murdered or missing Indigenous sisters. "Over the past few decades activists with the Walk 4 Justice initiative in Canada had collected at least 4,232 names of missing or murdered indigenous women," the CDC reported. "The U.S. has done little to address the issue. There is no comprehensive data collection system regarding the true number of missing and murdered indigenous women in America." According to the CDC, Native and Black Americans are the top groups most likely to be killed by police. Native Americans are 3.1 times more likely to be killed by police than white Americans. Here are a few Indigenous-American women we honor and remember today: #ReneeDavis, 23, pregnant, shot and killed by police on the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation, during a mental wellness checkup. #JeanettaRiley, pregnant, homeless and threatening suicide, 34, was shot and killed by Sandpoint, Idaho police, seconds after they exited their vehicles. #LorealTsingine 27, shot and killed after officers were called because she needed mental help support. Instead of a law that sends a woman to prison for murder for having a miscarriage or abortion, how about one that jails police officers for shooting or killing pregnant women?
