Logan: *hates Erik and just wants to fuck with him* Yeah, that and the fantastic sex we are having.

Erik: *trough gritted teeth* That's great for you...

Charles: *touching Logan very obvious* Yes, it's the best sex I've ever had.

Charles and Erik are entirely selfish when it comes to the other. Like they make a new friend? Cool. Someone gets interested in them romantically? Forget it.

Erik's selfish is he knows Charles better so if Moira or Liliandra try and get close his jealousy shows. With Charles he'll be friendly with anyone - Magda, Polaris' mom, etc - who has an interest in Erik but inside he's seething bc Erik is very closed off but is somewhat more open with them (Charles forgets he has access to Erik's mind btw). The only thing Charles hopes is that Erik is happy with the other person, and while Erik wishes the same he'll be damned if anyone else knows Charles as well or even more than he does

mind full of thoughts of erik accidentally being sent back to the past and staying with the x men until they find a way to send him back to the future and present erik being jealous charles with his future version.

ok so in my head here the timeline is different from xmfc, it takes longer for erik to find shaw so he stays with charles for at least three years and they open the school together. there's no beach divorce or charles getting paralyzed but the divorce eventually happens bc erik never gave up on his revenge plan, ends up killing shaw at some point, this causes a massive fight between him and charles and he decides to go on his own bc they're both too stubborn to meet each other in the middle. a year and a half passes after their dramatic divorce and this is precisely when future!erik arrives. in his mid/late 40s from twenty years now on, this erik is not that different from present!erik, they still look the same, save from how future!erik has shorter hair, a stubble, and a few more wrinkles.

the major difference lies in his posture. future!erik carries himself with more genuine confidence than his present version, since he's obviously older and has way more experience, he's way more confident in his powers and doesn't rely (that much) on anger anymore to use them. hes just.. a bit more calm. doesn't look like a bomb ready to explode. and this is what makes charles orbit around him like a moth to the flame. i keep thinking about young charles absolute FASCINATED with this version of erik, bc that's the man he loves so much, his dearest friend, now older and mature and comfortable in his own skin. this is exactly what charles wanted for erik and its right in front of him, after a year and a half of being away from erik, all that hurt and pain.. and future!erik is ACHING and YEARNING so badly like i bet he regrets all the things he did that hurt charles and always had those 'what ifs' in the back of his mind, 'what if he could change the past' 'what if he could change the way he treated charles' and now he has this version of charles, the first version of him he learned how to love, still full of hope for the world and with that soft look on his beautiful blue eyes.. he wants to make things right this time. so while hank is trying to find a way to send him back to his time, charles and erik spend their days together, playing chess and talking and talking and talking.

charles sees erik interacting with alex and helping him with his powers, everybody is still at shock to see how he's way more patient than his present version, and charles is about to EXPLODEEE with so much love. and in the middle of all this we have present!erik, hurt and bitter with his fresh 'magneto' suit of armor bc now he's the leader of the brotherhood of mutants, seeing this man who clames to be him in the future following charles around like a puppy, making charles smile and blush, he's about to start a new war. he also stays with the x men bc he wants to send his future version to the future as soon as he can, he's there to "keep an eye on him".

it goes like this until one day charles and future!erik are talking in the balcony of charles' room, they're talking normally and they simply CANT take their eyes off each other until charles blurts out of nowhere "are you happy? at peace? or at least getting there?" and erik says after a few seconds looking at him ".. im getting there." and charles smiles bright like the sun, holds one of his hands saying "good" and the moment is so soft and delicate and intimate they end up kissing. slow and wet and romantic with their bodies pressed against each other totally lost to the rest of the world, none of them hear the door opening until is too late and suddenly there's another erik in the room, furious. thats where things get interesting!!!!!! present!erik is absolutely out of his mind and tries to attack future!erik with his powers, but future!erik is more powerful and doesn't even bat an eye (thinking about present!erik trying to choke future!erik with that necklace he uses in dark phoenix but future!erik simply uses his powers to put it in present!erik's neck to choke him instead) until charles get in the middle ordering them to stop because theyre being ridiculous.

its just too funny the idea of erik fighting with himself bc other version of him got to kiss charles before him (got to kiss charles at all) and future!erik tauts him by saying that he could have that if he wasn't too much of a coward to act on his feelings and charles is a little offended how they're talking about him as if hes not there but hes also getting all hot and bothered bc cmon there's Two eriks fighting over him and theyre both so hot and attractive in the same AND different ways he's sweating a little!!! and then future!erik kisses him again... gets behind him gently pushes his body close to present!erik.. who looks at him as if he's pained and then he also kisses charles... they end up taking charles to paris if you know what i mean

since i'm back on my x-men bullshit: One underrated subplot in x-men first class is to me the way Charles, Hank, and Raven are totally fine experimenting on themselves (Cerebro, the serum Hank creates) and Erik - the person who has actually been experimented on in the most horrific circumstances imaginable - frequently going "can you...maybe not???"

sorry just got reminded of the entirety of uncanny x-men #309 and how it's charles having a therapy session with himself about his love life and desires and how he kept sacrificing himself and his wants for The Cause and the whole time he imagines erik to represent his innermost thoughts in the form of a therapist to have him unravel all this

The fact that Øyvind didn’t follow after Felix like the other guys did when he pushed Mathias makes me hope that he won’t be as much of a follower as the other guys, hopefully he’ll be much nicer to Mathias since he’s gonna need some new friends this season 😔

Unexpected Baggage

Erik should have realized Schmidt would do it again. How had he been naive enough to think that he would be the last child tortured by that man?

He had given up the last lead he had on Schmidt to save the girl he had seen being dragged around by the mad man's followers. He was trying very hard to not regret it. Reminding himself that the girl was like him.

Here were the facts: he was in France under false pretenses, his reason for living wasn't dead yet, and there was an American teenager following him who wouldn't stop talking.

"-and all I wanted to do was get Monica back!" The girl threw her hands up, "My family is probably having my funeral already."

Maybe he shouldn't have started tuning her out. That sounded like important context.

He turned around to look at her, feeling slightly bad as he watched her pull down the sleeve of her jacket from where it was riding up. She kept doing that. He didn't want to ask why.

"Listen, kid-"

"Kamala."

"-which part of America are you from? I'll try to get you home, so you can tell them to call off the funeral, in-person."

She screwed up her nose as she thought out loud, "It's the sixties, right? Well that means my Nani is in Pakistan, right now. Probably just about to meet my Nana, so my parents are definitely not alive yet, and to answer your question-" She paused to breathe, "I don't think I qualify as an American right now."

The first thing that came to mind was that she sounded incredibly American for someone who claimed not to be. Was that what a Pakistani accent sounded like?

The second thought, once he actually digested what she said, slipped out before he could control himself:

"What the hell?"

"Surprise!" She did jazz hands weakly, "I'm a bit of a time traveler. And, I'm hoping, a dimension traveler."

If she was right about that, Erik was incredibly glad he'd gotten her out of Shaw's hands.

October Almost-Drabbles 10/11: Haunted

Side note: finally something other than straight fluff, lmao. I swear I originally intended this to be slightly more comedic than angsty. But Erik said “No, I must pine,” and who am I to deny him? Also, the Cherik might not be completely one-sided, but Charles is a bit too angry and frustrated to deal with any other feelings, in this little fic at least.

“You didn’t have to do that.”

Charles, soaked through to the bone, glared at the apparition sitting at his table. The being didn’t look at him. Rather, they kept their focus on the kitchen sink currently gushing water out into the apartment floor. Gradually, the flow stopped.

“She wasn’t right for you,” Erik said. His ghostly voice was aloof, as if he couldn’t care less about Moira’s ruined outfit, or the money Charles would likely have to spend on repairs. He still wouldn’t meet Charles’ gaze, however.

“And you feel as if you have a say in the matter because…?”

The spirit didn’t answer. Charles wasn’t surprised. Just this once, he thought that bringing a date home might have gone alright. That they could have a nice meal, a fun evening, maybe even a nice second romp in the morning, before parting ways.

He should have known better.

“Look, Erik,” Charles let out a sigh, sitting down across from the figure that had once been a living man. He did his best to ignore the wet squelch of his pants and boxers as he sat. His next stop should definitely be his bedroom though, preferably before he started to chafe. “I already promised that I wouldn’t have you exorcised, or force you out. I said it, I meant it, and I don’t go back on my word. But-” the other man finally looked at him, and Charles again found himself wondering what color his eyes had been, when he was alive. “-but we’re roommates, essentially. Nothing more. I’ve got a life that needs living.” At Erik’s scowl, he added a quick, “no offense intended, of course.”

“She wasn’t right for you,” Erik repeated, a bit softer this time. Charles rolled his eyes. He’d begun shivering slightly, the cold Autumn air bleeding through the thin walls of his (their) apartment. He made a mental note to text Moira and make sure that she, similarly soaked as he, was safe and warm at home. For now, though, he rose up.

“I’m going to bed,” he said, voice flat. “Just as soon as I grab a few towels to…” he trailed off, watching the water recede, pool together, and evaporate in record time. Even the broken sink seemed to repair itself before his eyes. In any other circumstance, this would have been a shocking thing to witness. But after a year of living with a being such as Erik, almost nothing surprised him these days.

“Your clothes,” the ghost said, more apologetic than Charles expected.

“Never mind them. I’ll throw them in the wash.” He waved his hand dismissively, considering their conversation finished. “Good night, Erik.” An ironic sentiment, considering his evening after coming home had been anything but. He retreated to his bedroom, wet socks leaving a trail of footprints behind him, before closing the door, hard, behind him. A full stop on the end of an unspoken sentence. After a moment, the footprints evaporated too.

“Good night, Charles,” Erik said to the empty apartment kitchen. Now, alone again, it was his turn to sigh. To tuck his head into ghostly hands and wish, not for the first time nor the last, that the space in his chest where a heart may have resided didn’t clench so painfully any time he thought of himself without Charles. It wasn’t fair. He knew that. But at the same time…

He stood, in as much as an incorporeal being can, and made his way over to the closed door. Charles was showering. He could always tell where Charles was in this place, though he made sure never to peep or spy. And even now, while he could easily phase right through the wooden door, he only pressed a hand against it. Feeling the warm spirit radiating from the other man inside.

“Good night, Charles,” he said again, whispering as if he thought the other man might have heard him through the bedroom door and the en-suite. Other words burned in his stomach, but he knew there was really nothing more to say. Nothing that Charles would want to hear, at least.
