ਮਾਂ-ਬੋਲੀ ਉਹ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੱਚਾ ਜਨਮ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸੁਣਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਡੀਆਂ ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ-ਬੋਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਣਾ ਹੋਰ ਹੁਨਰਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਆਲੋਚਨਾਤਮਕ ਸੋਚ, ਦੂਜੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਖਰਤਾ ਦੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਹਿ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮਾਤ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਸਾਧਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। Mother tongue is the language which a child starts hearing after being born and thus, it also helps in providing a definite shape to our emotions and thoughts. Learning in your mother tongue also is crucial in enhancing other skills such as critical thinking, skills to learn a second language and literacy skills. Understanding poems makes a child sensitive and reciting the same makes them creative. A strong performance is one in which the meaning of the poem is powerfully and clearly conveyed to the audience. This was displayed beautifully by the students of grade Nursery when they participated in English Rhyme Competition. The students made all the characters of each rhyme come alive. They enthralled their teachers and friends with their memory skills while reciting rhymes.
