"Carry On" was ostensibly the worst because in addition to horrible writing and character fuckery -- undoing basically 15 years of character development so you could watch the pilot and finale and not miss anything -- the spn finale production values also made it look like a high school play, but like a really crappy one.

(I've got no beef with sherlock because I was never in that fandom nor paid enough attention to the show to realize the finale sucked.)

But "The Iron Throne" still takes the cake because despite its million dollar budget and resulting production values plus emmy award winning actors and score, the storyline of 8x06 and the two previous episodes effectively undid eight seasons of intricate character development and storybuilding to such a degree that the show is now UNWATCHABLE. Like, you cannot go back and start again and ignore those three final episodes because they unraveled everything so completely that nothing that came before it matters now. Nothing. Except maybe sansa wanting to be queen. That's it.

And the writers/showrunners who did all of that won a fucking Emmy for it.

At least you can ignore the spn finale because it was so stupid and disconnected from everything that came before -- at least everything after, say, season 3 or arguably season 5. Just lop it right off and the story and character arcs are still intact, just incomplete . . . and that's okay. It's better than the alternative. (And jackles wants to fix it and considers the story incomplete anyway, so if it's good enough for dean fan #1 to feel that way, it's good enough for the rest of us.)

In summary: burn them all.

Okay I've just seen yet ANOTHER jb fan in my feed talking about sliding back into dean/cas and . . . can we maybe start our own dedicated (side) discord or something? Would anyone be interested in that? Because I have a lot of thoughts about d&c + j&b and the stupid shows that did them dirty. But my jb discord wouldn't want to hear about that, and the thought of seeking out and joining a spn discord is exhausting.

And there's just so much to say about these four characters? Jaime and dean?!? Cas and Brienne??!? Two battle couples and god-tier ships??? And the fact that I have exactly two brain cells left, labeled jb & d/c? and exactly two funkopops, one of cas and one of brienne, and you guys might be the only people on the planet who understand why I love them both so much? And understand the specific mix of emotions from going through this hellride again after GOT8??

Sadly I'm hampered from interacting with y'all directly because tumblr still hasn't fixed my blog, so I'm invisible but hopefully some of you will see this...
