本日は休日出勤中のオフィスから、週末の晴れ間にふさわしい楽曲を、日本より上原ひろみ+エドマール・カスタネーダをご紹介。

上原ひろみは、説明不要のジャズピアニスト。17歳でチックコリアと共演。バークリー音楽大学在学時に名門テラークと契約して2003年にデビュー。ソロ作・共作問わず、世界のヒットチャートを賑わし、数々の日本人未踏の記録を打ち立てている、名実ともに日本を代表するアーティスト。

そんな彼女がコロンビアが生んだ驚異的なテクニックのジャズハープ奏者エドマール・カスタネーダとの共作を2017年に発表。タイトルは「Live In Montreal」。カナダのジャズフェスのライブ音源です。

ハープの概念が覆されるほど、繊細で軽やか。そしてライブならではの緊張感も伝わる、素晴らしい音源です。アルバムを通して非常に良作なのですが、日曜日に一番合いそうなのは、こちらの「the elements」。良かったら聞いてみてねん。

Black August Medicine (BAM): Hops Blossom Tincture

**In honor Black August, theMightoqondria will craft soulcare medicine via plant-based potions, sonic treats, and other colorful mediums every week as a restorative offering to Black liberation warriors past, present and future who, even with deep cuts, used their bodies and souls to liberate our now and forever.**

Black August is made manifest from the tenacious, brilliant, and cosmic energy of Black liberators (past, present, and future) who could/can sense, imagine, and actualize paths towards our emancipation. Crafting homemade medicine is a practice of love and politik which honors Black healer wit/ingenuity and challenges dominant healthcare narratives that trick us into believing that only professionalized medical experts can heal us. Well, that's a damn lie. The medical-industrial complex is made manifest by fragmenting, bio-terrorizing, and exploiting our bodies. It's no wonder Black and Brown communities side-eye healthcare providers. #Neverlovedus.

Crafting medicine is a soul deepening, whole-making practice that creates sacred space to excavate and confront internalized racism and patriarchy; declare bodily autonomy; regenerate our queer healing symbols and mythologies; and actualize the healing we imagine.

We chose to begin BAM with a hops blossom tincture offering because the first week of August is hot with liberating action as Harriet Tubman initiates the Underground Railroad (8/2/1850). Hops facilitate the kind, restful sleep that a tireless and alert mind/body require for preservation (at minimum) and rejuvenation (at best).

In sonic partnership, we felt like 'Windmills of Your Mind' by jazz harpist Dorothy Ashby (b: 8/6/1930) is an appropriate sonic tea to supplement Hops' relaxing and imaginative energy
