9. Best month for you this year?

Lol I'm glad you guys are so interesting in my favorite month! I answered here, but November was my fave this year!

10. Something that made you cry this year?

What the hell, are you trying to show everybody how sensitive I am or something?? (Kidding!) - I'm trying to think of something joyful that may have made me cry........ movies for sure make me cry - I cried most recently at Wicked, I think. What else............I said it in a previous post but I have the memory of a goldfish so I'm having trouble remembering any cries that weren't from the last few weeks 😅 OH! Here's an anecdote where I laughed really hard (maybe it made me cry? Can't remember, but I know it made me laugh SO hard) - I was playing Fortnite with my sister and @kermitwazowski, and we were playing music together, and we were so caught up in the moment that none of us noticed when a car pulled up and started shooting at us 😂 I'd post a video of it, but I don't want to dox usernames. But please trust me, it was so funny and we were screaming absolute bloody murder 😂

14. Favorite book you read this year?

Ah, I was going through my goodreads earlier and Khy, you know most of my year has been spent reading the dreaded Throne of Glass series, but I DID enjoy Bride by Ali Hazelwood. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but unfortunately I'm VERY into fated mates and protectiveness and all that jazz and WHOOPS! I had a blast reading this one. It wasn't a huge thinker, it was just hot and sweet and romantic which was exactly what I needed at the time. Here's the description via goodreads:

Here's a silly one: for my birthday, my roommate got me an adorable little Astarion plush that I've been carrying with me throughout our apartment for a few weeks now. I also have an Astarion scented candle from Etsy and I was like......... "And well, what if Astarion smelled like Astarion?" SO for the past few days, I've been putting my little Astarion in a pot with the open candle (which I refuse to burn) and making him smell like Astarion 😂 It wears off after a few hours, but I felt like an absolute GENIUS when I did it the first time. Nobody tell my roommate why I've had our big pot out for the past few days............

Hi it’s me again! Honestly that’s cool I thought it may have been omegaverse related but in case it wasn’t I didn’t want to embarrass myself. 😭 I blame wattpad and the fact like I really liked werewolves. 😔

Anyways! Definitely if you do post anything related to your characters I would be happy to read! They’re really stunning!

Also I was curious how you gain inspiration for your characters. I know you mentioned you put parts of yourself into their stories and/or them, but are there usually any other factors that help you figure out how they may look or who they’re personalities will be? Whether it’s a songs, lyric(s), animals, aesthetics, shows/movies, or anything.

Loll tbh I kinda judged the omegaverse at first until I watched coleydoesthings video on it. She gives a very good explanation and it even got me interested soo here we are! I was a tiny bit hesitant on sharing the smut here bc "cringe" but idrc!! (This is tumblr lol we're all weirdos)

Also, since I don't actually play the game a lot (I've even removed some gameplay mods) I've been thinking about making short stories until maybe one day when I actually want to work on a full series - once i get the lore and all that jazz locked down that is. For now they'd just be little scenarios and things that happen in their lives ᵔદᵔ I don't rlly like the gameplay so might as well use the sims as a creative medium lol

I get most of my inspo off of pinterest and sometimes other people's sims! I have a simspo board which has faces, character concepts, and even style inspiration. I also have moodboards dedicated to them, which helps me put together their overall vibe. Music is kind of a factor too, although I associate a sim with a song I already know instead of making sims based off of it. Some sims I've based off of people I know irl

I also want to work on a mini music project as well as a voice canon one :> ohh and an incorrect quotes one too! Just a silly way to understand their characters a bit better :3

I take inspo for world building as well! I'm really focusing on vampires rn. I took some inspiration from dracula, the vampyre, interview with a vampire, and various yt videos on vampire lore/history. This video explains the biology of vampires (he even scientifically explains how crosses are harmful to them!!), and this one explains their history.

For example: before the pretty, well put-together person that we envision when we think of vampires, vampires before that were depicted as more animalistic than anything. So why not have the best of both worlds!! When in human form, my vampires have very little vampiric qualities (ex. Keith's eyes have a red glint to them, the vatores ears are slightly pointed, and all of them have larger canines than the average human), they're able to show up on camera and have reflections, and crosses are only harmful to them if they're blessed. When they turn into their dark form (or "true form" as hunters call it), however, they do not have a reflection, they cannot be caught on camera, and like the old vampires, they appear monstrous.

Week 3 Of The Postgrad Life

I know I’m late, but here it is.

So two weeks ago, I made my usual commute on the bus for my Tuesday evening class. So you probably know the usual by now; Spirits podcast for the bus ride, the walk from Dundee’s bus station to campus, all that jazz.

So for this class, we talked about adaptation and appropriation and we talked about Edgar Allan Poe. There was also some talk of the rise of copyright, which is very important now than it was even two centuries ago.

To generate these kind of conversations, we read Julie Sanders’ ‘Adaptation and Appropriation’, we read Robert Bloch’s short story ‘The Man Who Collected Poe’, which is excellently spooky by the way, and I highly recommend if you like those kind of tales (also, it fits in with the content of the Spirits podcast). We also had to read ‘Edgar Allan Poe and the Undeath of the Author’ by Jeffrey Andrew Weinstock, ‘Adapting Poe: Re-Imagining in Popular Culture’ which was edited by Dennis R. Perry and Carl H. Sederholm, and last but not least, we also read ‘The Afterlives of Eighteenth-Century Fiction’ edited by Daniel Cook (our very own Head of English) and NIcholas Seager.

And then I made the commute again on Wednesday for my Gothic Tradition class. This week, we started talking about the vampire tradition, and the rise of the vampire.

So of course we read Polidori’s ‘The Vampyre: A Tale’, which was the beginning of the vampire showing up in literature, really. We also read Le Fanu’s ‘Carmilla’, in which we see the beginning of the stake-in-heart, sleeping-in-coffins, eternal youth kind of vampires. However, with ‘Carmilla’ we also talked about the ‘female vampire’ and female sexuality (of course), which always, always makes for some good discussions.

On Friday, I learned how to make lasagne, which was very nice, if I do say so myself. Just because if you have the time to learn something new, even if it is just learning how to cook a new meal, then why not? Lasagne is very easy to make. I got the very simple recipe from the BBC Food website, which I can’t remember the exact name of but if you just Google it, it will probably come up. In the end, my lasagne looked like this:

Then later that night, my older sister, her partner, our dog and myself all went to my younger sister’s house to visit her baby and to play some board games. 

And then on the Saturday, I also had archery. So in this session, we looked at the timetable for the year, we did some exercises to help with our drawing back of the string on the bow, we practised using the sight, and just generally shot arrows.

And that was Week 3!
