So there are quite a few കട്ടി - katti (difficult) words in the scene, but we’ll be focusing on നശിപ്പിച്ചു - nashipichu which means ‘to ruin, to spoil, to destroy’.

Initially in the scene, we see the male character, the villain, wailing 'നി നശിപ്പിച്ചു - nee nashipichu!’ In this context, he is referring to how she ruined him on two counts: 1) she raped him and stole his virginity 2) she ruined his nefarious plans

[We can also see a lot of female characters use എന്നെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു - enne nashipichu which translates to 'I am ruined’ in old Malayalam cinema after a rape scene or sometimes after a lover breaks up with them unexpectedly. In that age (and to a certain extent now) , losing your virginity meant losing your life because it is considered to be a prized possession. So when the female character utters this dialogue, it means the rapist/lover has literally destroyed their life.]

Later on in the scene, we hear the female character accuse him: എന്റെ ജന്മം നി നശിപ്പിച്ചു - ente janmam nee nashipichu which kind of means 'you destroyed/ruined my existence’.

Other usage include:

Property Destruction If your sibling ruined your shirt, you can say എന്റെ ഷർട്ട് നശിപ്പിച്ചു - ente shirt nashipichu.

#spoilers ഛെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു - Che, nashipichu! This means something like 'Oh, you spoiled it’ or 'it’s spoiled’. For example, if you accidentally reveal a surprise like a plotline to a new movie.

The scene is from the supernatural thriller Anandabhadhram by Santhosh Sivan. It stars Prithviraj, Manoj K Jayan, and Kavya Madhavan in the leading roles. The film stands out for several reasons: a unique storyline, brilliant performances, amazing cinematography and a morally conflicting rape scene. We’re not sure how many people noticed the latter. The way Jack says ‘okay’ just tells you he knows he has Rayane in the palm of his hand.

And Rayane repeats it himself to reassure his boyfriend that he got this.

[context: Rayane and Jack wanna take the next step in their relationship but they know they’ll get interrupted at home. So Rayane promises to find a place. They’ll fail. Repeatedly.]
