Highlights: the green jacket, the khaki suit and the brown vest all make reappearances during the season. Not to mention the iconic aviators. A couple of these items have been featured in past polls, links below.

@jahsontodd EXCUSE ME TUMBLR DIDN'T NOTIFY ME OF THE TAG AND I'M SO MAD ABOUT THIS?!!! IT WAS POSTED IN JUNE??!?!! Well luckily this crossed my dash, because this is a dissertation honey!!!
Hard agree with Javi G. The colours are on point, it's so summer holiday, and the palette goes perfectly with the colours of the island as well, so warm and sandy and beachy.
Do I need to say anything about Narcos? No? Ok. I LOVE the 3 colour rule and you are so right. I'm so glad I read your post at the start of the Javier Pena Outfit Archive project, I'm definitely going to be continuing this project with fresh eyes.
I'M SORRY BUT I MUST YELL - HOW IS JACK'S WARDROBE NOT 10/10?!?!? The snowsuit is cinematic perfection, other than the rainboots, the wardrobe is 12/10!!! AND THE HATS!!! C'mon, I'm lodging a formal appeal of the score.
For Joel - 'His pants ARE suspiciously fitted. Not so utilitarian when it comes to pants are you Joel?' 😂 I'm dying because if no one is less utilitarian when it comes to tight pants than Javier.
I LOVED THIS SO MUCH. I'm so sorry I didn't see it until now! The graphics are also fantastic, I love your notes on top of them, if you ever do a second part, I'm sooo here for it!!!
✨rating pedro pascal characters based on nothing but costuming (non-exhaustive)✨
considerations:
*real housewives voice* thats my OPINION!!! also subject to change upon reflection, just going off my current feelings.
not really discussing whether the costuming is good or bad for character, context, or source material but just how much I like them if that makes sense.
some of these costume designers knocked it out of the park but would I be a little grumpy if I went on a date and they showed up in a walmart denim button up and ripped their $300+ jacket to shreds? Yes. Was that costume absolutely perfect for Joel? Yes again.
Mostly discussing costuming in context modern/21st century settings. The Mandalorian+GOT+ etc. in part two?
Minimal discussion on hair+cosmetics, only really when it applies to the whole look

You Will Cry Tears of Blood
Outfit count: 6
I had this post in my drafts for months and forgot about it, so I was halfway through making the same gifs before I realise I'd made all of them already 🤦🏻♀️
Highlights: The tieless suit look is delicious if you asked me. Especially the way he catches that pen in it.
Rewears: The first look is the same shirt that Javi wore in S1E4 and S1E5, the white shirt with the squiggly printed he wore in S1E5 as well. The dark blue suit looks so good on him he wears it twice this episode, with a white shirt and tie first, then a light blue shirt with no tie.
Yes he did in fact leave his tie at my apartment when he had to rush to work that morning thanks for asking.

S1E6 Javier Peña Outfit Archive
Explosivos
Outfit count: 2, excluding variations
Highlights: This is a highly unusual episode in that we see Javi in basically in one outfit for most of it because it takes place over the same day. But who's complaining when he looks so good in a white shirt, basically unbuttoned down to his tiddies?
Rewears: Crowd favourite the brown vest makes another appearance, because apparently it's cold in the conference room. Javi also wears the same tac vest twice over two different outfits.
Bonus: I love the close-up of the handcuffs and the gun in the back of this man's pants, because pockets are not to be used. And also, always here for unhinged Javi, especially in the dark 🫠

S1E5 Javier Peña Outfit Archive
There Will Be A Future
Outfit count: 7
Highlights: Javi wears a lot of light blues this episode, and two different suits. I don't believe we see that last darker grayish brown suit again. I also love that two of the shirts he wears have the pointed western style pockets, it's such a great little touch!
Rewears: So it took me a while to figure it out (I had to really zoom in to spot the detail), but that look in the car is a rewear of our favourite green contrast collar jacket with the coral orange striped shirt that we saw briefly in S1E3 Part II.
Bonus: I don't think we see Javier much in long sleeve shirts in Seasons 1 and 2, so that blue shirt/blue jeans look is a bonus! Love the rolled up sleeves!
I know it's been a hot minute since the last post - and I've really enjoyed making this one. Distance does make the heart fonder 😉

S1E4 Part I Javier Peña Outfit Archive
The Palace in Flames
Outfit count: 9 over the episode
Highlights: I don't think it'd be an understatement to say that the scene of Javier walking down the stairs in that tight black shirt has changed many of us. Fundamentally and forever. If my records are correct, that black shirt is only one out of two occasions over the entire show that we see Javier wear black (please don't @ me if I got that wrong lol).
I love the white shirt with the squiggly black print. Javier doesn't wear a lot of print (he prefers stripes), so it's always a treat to see him in something a bit unexpected!
Rewears: The exact same outfit of the yellow shirt, blue jeans and brown windbreaker makes a second (and very welcome) appearance, after the failed stake out with Search Bloc. As does the khaki suit, which makes multiple appearances within the episode itself.
Bonus: I was going to gif an action shot of the black shirt but it's failing to upload, so I'll try again later 🤦🏻♀️

The Men of Always
Outfit count: 10 over the episode
Highlights: The famous brown windbreaker makes its debut.
Rewears: The green jacket with the brown collar, the khaki suit, the denim jacket and the brown vest all make reappearances in this episode. Love seeing how he mixes and matches his wardrobe with these classic pieces.
Bonus: This denim on denim look with the red shirt has a special place in my heart.

S1E8 Javier Peña Outfit Archive
La Gran Mentira
Outfit count: 5
This is my last update of the year! I lost a bit of steam with this project, but I've really enjoyed getting into it again. I'm excited to keep going in 2024!
Highlights: That first gif of Javier leaning on the desk with the cigarette smoke catching the light is just *chef's kiss*. I can go on and on about this man leaning on desks, and I think this might be my favourite lean.
And how can we forget that iconic red shirt, arms crossed moment? It's literally a split second frame in the episode, it's too powerful to be captured on camera for longer than that.
And then, that green shirt. I really don't like it, and I don't think Javier wears anything else in that colour again, but you gotta admire the costumes department for really mixing it up 😂
Rewears: This episode throws back to the pilot, with a glimpse of Javier's denim on denim look!
That's all, folks! Thank you for tuning in. The Javier Peña Outfit Archive continues in 2024!

S1E3 Part II Javier Peña Outfit Archive
The Men of Always
Outfit count: 10 over the episode
Highlights: We rarely see full-length shots of Javier, so this scene of him in the khaki suit is a rare treat! You can see the slight flare in his trousers, but it's a shame we can't really see the details on his shoes.
I also find it very amusing that out of Javier's very rare displays of violence, he uses so much of it on the poor police photographer 😂
Rewears: I love the multiple rewears even within this episode. The denim jacket, green jacket and khaki suit all make two appearances each.
Bonus: I love it when the costumes department goes for something a little out there in terms of colour. This shirt in light coral orange (which looks almost like a soft neon) with white stripes they paired with the green jacket is such a great look.

Javier Peña Outfit Archive Masterlist
I floated this idea at the beginning of the year and did a ton of research i.e. rewatching Narcos, but never got round to actually putting anything together, so I'm excited to make a start on this project finally!
The idea is simple, but the possibilities are endless. The plan is to put together every outfit episode by episode, and once that is done, I want to do fun compilations by themes like colour, items of clothing, etc. It will take me some time to go through all the seasons, but it'll be a fun side project for the rest of this year, if not the next! Masterlist below the cut will be updated as I post.
Famously, Javier only appears in one scene in the first episode, so he's the sassy mascot for this particular Archive Masterlist 💁🏻♂️

S1E4 Part II Javier Peña Outfit Archive
The Palace in Flames
Outfit count: 9 over the episode
Highlights: We see Javi in a tac vest for the first time in this episode. Need I say more?
Rewears: The green jacket and the khaki suit once again, because the costumes department knows that we can't get enough of either 🫠
Bonus: Look at that cleavage in the bottom left gif. Seriously Javi, we don't need to see so much of you (we do).
P.S. I've been so busy I haven't had any time to make new posts recently. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back into it sometime in August!

A bit of an update: went on creative rampage this weekend and have several really fun polls coming up! Opening up the field to Pedro boys who haven't been featured yet, very excited to see how they go.
I also have a couple of compilations and matrices that have been in the works for a while that I hope to finish up and share soonish 👀
I'm so thrilled at the response Javier Pena Outfit Archive! It's such a fun project, and honestly, I'm doing it mainly for myself, but I'm glad that you guys are having fun as well!
That's it from me for now. Happy Monday my lovelies!

Most of the outfits I love him in are in this episode!!! I LOVE that black frigging shirt, I think they knew the power of Javi in black would have been too much for us all to bare, so it was just the 2 very quick scenes with him in it!!!!!!

I’ve got the same love for the denim with the red shirt I must admit. What do you call the windbreaker? Is it the 1 with his lemon shirt and light jeans or the top right?

I love him in the helicopter, that shirt is a fabulous colour and when he tells him to give him lead, I still get goosebumps. Revenge for Helena. I still prefer the tac vest with the gun pocket on the front. But hey I would take Javi whichever way I could!!!!!!!
