Nabu Headcanons
Tumblr media
Meet Prince Nabu Wayne of Tides. (The realm closest in proximity to Andros.)
He’s a second born child, laid back, and relatively insightful. (At least, that’s what his friends tell him.)
Nabu had a bit of a sheltered upbringing, but he managed to have some fun adventures anyway, becoming a strong wizard and a great (future) king.
(All headcanons are mostly for my Left and New Company of Light verse. If you have any you’d like to borrow, feel free. :) )
-Nabu, the second born of the Tidese Royal Family, and the only son of the King and Queen of Tides.
-He has an older sister named Talia, who is the future Queen of Tides.
-Nabu had a fairly normal life for a royal kid, or at least, he wasn’t quite as sheltered as some of the royals…
-At least, he wasn’t until the attempts against Layla and Sky by remnants of the Ancestral Coven. After that, he was kept closer to the palace. (Unless under protective custody.)
-Before the attempts, Nabu was allowed to roam the palace and the outskirts of the palace with his sister.
-They admittedly would get into trouble, the two were pranksters against the guards and their parents and just… They love to laugh and they laugh together.
-When Nabu discovered his powers (and his sister discovered hers), their parents employed the best magic tutors/magic teachers they could find.
-Their teachers would often take them out of Tides and into other realms to learn how to adapt their magic and how to push the boundaries of their powers.
-(Yes, those field trips would continue after the attempts were made, but they were done with body guards and soldiers as chaperones.)
-Nabu is fluent in up to seven languages, but he seldom gets a chance to really speak most of them. (He did his best to find friends from other realms to speak with after Timmy unblocked his phone from the rest of the Magical Dimension’s internet.)
-He fell in love with airy/loose fitting clothes at a young age. It made him feel like he was the character from his favorite book series and he found it helps him be more agile when he’s doing his training. (And his parents found that it worked well with the Tidese Royal Robes. So win-win.)
-Nabu has no qualms or ill-will toward his sister for being the one next in line for the throne. In fact, he’s glad about it. It means less he has to worry about and less stress on his plate.
-He was also the first one to realize his sister had a secret-girlfriend and that she wasn’t a royal. And the one who did his best to bridge the gap between Talia and Anne and his parents.
-When he was 14, Nabu managed to talk his parents into letting him attend Coventry Academy for Wizards and Witches.
-This gave him more opportunities to learn about magic and the rest of the Magical Dimension.
-(Also, his roommate? Diaspro’s older brother, Jasper. And honestly, they actually got along pretty well.)
-Nabu found out just a month before Layla did about their engagement. He wasn’t happy and even brought up how his sister was allowed to choose her future spouse, why couldn’t he?
-He was so angry he ditched Coventry. (With some help from Jasper to keep his disappearance on the down-low, on the promise that he would come back after he had more information about Layla.)
-He tried really hard not to like Layla when he finally found her. He did. He wanted to hate her and despise her and find a way to terminate their arranged marriage… But he couldn’t.
-Nabu fell in love with her almost immediately. Her strong will, her independent nature, the strength with which she carried herself… How big her heart was for her friends and how quick she was to defend her home… He couldn’t have asked for a better match.
-(Yeah, they had a shit-ton to work through after they found out about each other… But in the end, they had both fallen in the deep end for one another and were more than willing to see how their relationship would go.)
-Meeting the guys and getting to know them was the reason why Nabu wanted to, and managed to after a long talk with his dad, transfer to Red Fountain.
-He ended up being roommates with Timmy. (Which doesn’t bother him quite so much… He just wishes Timmy would have a normal sleep schedule…)
-At Red Fountain, his best classes were magical defense and beast taming. His worst? Whenever he had to use a blaster or fly a ship… (Or use a compass… Nabu is good at a lot of things, but without his magic, he has a shit sense of direction.)
-Nabu actually enjoyed the camping trips Red Fountain took them on. It let him feel closer to nature and to his squad mates.
-At Coventry, Nabu was the best at illusion magic and divination. His worst here was anything that had to do with curses. He can’t summon enough negative energy for curses.
-(Not to say he doesn’t have negative feelings or that he hasn’t been extremely angry or upset before… But Nabu is just a naturally jolly person. And a logical one when things seem to be going downhill. He just feels that with his friends and Layla, he can handle anything.)
-(Also at Coventry, he and Jasper tended to get into trouble of their own. Pranks against fellow students and some of the teachers, nothing malicious. Though he did have Jasper keep him away from Diaspro. She had, at one point, attempted to pursue him in an attempt to show her parents she could secure a throne somehow. Which was not on Nabu’s list of things to do.)
-Nabu and Jasper are still friends, though more long distance these days since Jasper has really had to step up as the future King of Isis. (Especially since Diaspro got into trouble. Again.)
-Nabu got his tattoos when he was about 16. He completed a ritual on Tides that basically meant he had become one with the ocean and had the waters moving within him.
-(His sister has similar tattoos on her arms, though more bubble foam/like.)
-Nabu loves to surf and to swim and scuba diving. Honestly he just loves being near the water and having sand between his toes.
-He loves dance and often has Layla teaching him new moves. Sometimes, if your lucky, you’ll see them dancing in the kitchen while trying to get snacks for movie nights.
-Nabu is big on healthy eating and yoga. His mother just ingrained both into him at a young age.
-At least with yoga, he has friends who enjoy participating with him. And with the healthy eating, he’s great at making healthy alternative snacks. (Which Flora absolutely loves him for.)
-Riven and Nabu became unlikely friends rather quickly. Neither of them is quite sure how it happened, but both are quite fine with their arrangement. Riven shares things with Nabu he has issues sharing with others and Nabu gets to vent out some of his frustrations with Riven that he’s more nervous to voice with others.
-(They also get into competitive surfing competitions. But the kind where they can laugh at each other afterward.)
-Nabu loves animals and hopes to have pets in the future. (He couldn’t have any pets other than fish at home because his parents weren’t… Pet people. But he knows Layla has a soft-side for dogs, so he’s hoping they can find one they both love.)
-Once he officially joined the team, it kind of shocked him how often they got into trouble. Like he was pretty sure that the whole Valtor thing was a one-time instance.
-Like when he found out about the group’s freshman year, he nearly lost his mind. (“You guys fought a battle that nearly ended the entire Magical Dimension? At 15?! You out of your minds?”)
-And then when he heard about the sophomore year shenanigans. (“Layla, you went to ShadowHaunt, on your own, when Darkar was still in charge?!” “I had to save the pixies.” “And then everyone went after Darkar?” “Well yeah. Couldn’t let him have ultimate power.” “How are any of you still alive?”)
-When the Mandragora thing happens during their senior year, he just sort of accepts it. (“Oh look. Someone else who wants to kill us.”)
-And then the Black Circle shit… (“Can… Can we not have a single break? At all?”)
-Poor Nabu, he’d went to having a relatively quiet life of royalty to always having to try and save the world because if he doesn’t help, Layla will be doing it on her own anyway.
-He loves swapping royalty horror stories (and gossip, not that he’ll admit that part) with Stella and Sky. (Layla isn’t as big on it. She just doesn’t care at all who’s doing what. Though she does participate from time to time.)
-While he’s not a fan of video games, Nabu does like to cheer on Timmy and Tecna when they have a tournament going on. (And he even supplies them with snacks. Nutritional ones. They don’t seem to notice the difference.)
-Nabu and Flora tend to go on tangents together about nature conservation. He’s big on ocean protection, just like she is on forest preservation and together it’s just… Wow.
-(They have even been to a few protests together. Sometimes heated ones. Thankfully, due to Nabu’s status, they haven’t gotten into too much trouble.)
-After his near-death experience, Nabu tends to have nightmares. Strong ones. Ones where he does actually die and he can see Layla and his friends just losing themselves in morning.
-He wakes up crying and Layla just holds him tight.
-(She has nightmares too, about losing him after she had been so close to doing so.)
-(Which is why they pushed their wedding date up a bit. So they can be married before something does take them away from each other.)
-One somewhat good thing came from the whole experience… Nabu’s magic evolved a bit.
-He’s better at divination than he’d ever been before. With his abilities, he can sometimes get visions of things in the past or of things to come. (And sometimes, if concentrates, he can bring up the visions in pools of water so he can share them with others.)
-(When he gets the hang of it, he’s sure he’ll be able to do better once he understands how this part of his powers work.)
-Nabu hopes that with everything he and Layla have been through and survived, it’ll give them the experience and knowledge necessary to become the best rulers Andros has ever had. (Or at least, rulers as amazing as his parents and Layla’s parents are.)

Top New Science Fiction Books in April 2021
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
Science fiction has the power to take us away—to escape, to make us reflect back on our own world in challenging ways, to fill us with awe and wonder about the beauties of the universe. There are so many science fiction books out there worth your time, but we only have room to recommend a few. Here are some of the science fiction books we’re most looking forward to in April 2021…
Top New Science Fiction Books in April 2021
The Galaxy and the Ground Within by Becky Chambers
Type: Novel Publisher: Harper Voyager Release date: April 20 Den of Geek says: Ever since her groundbreaking A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, Chambers has been a powerful voice in science fiction. Colorful, creative aliens inhabit a galaxy sparkling with healing and love, “soft” science fiction in the online sense that is also bursting with ideas and thoughtful characterization.
Publisher’s summary: Return to the sprawling, Hugo Award-winning universe of the Galactic Commons to explore another corner of the cosmos—one often mentioned, but not yet explored—in this absorbing entry in the Wayfarers series, which blends heart-warming characters and imaginative adventure. With no water, no air, and no native life, the planet Gora is unremarkable. The only thing it has going for it is a chance proximity to more popular worlds, making it a decent stopover for ships traveling between the wormholes that keep the Galactic Commons connected. If deep space is a highway, Gora is just your average truck stop.
At the Five-Hop One-Stop, long-haul spacers can stretch their legs (if they have legs, that is), and get fuel, transit permits, and assorted supplies. The Five-Hop is run by an enterprising alien and her sometimes helpful child, who work hard to provide a little piece of home to everyone passing through.
When a freak technological failure halts all traffic to and from Gora, three strangers—all different species with different aims—are thrown together at the Five-Hop. Grounded, with nothing to do but wait, the trio—an exiled artist with an appointment to keep, a cargo runner at a personal crossroads, and a mysterious individual doing her best to help those on the fringes—are compelled to confront where they’ve been, where they might go, and what they are, or could be, to each other.
Buy The Galaxy and the Ground Within by Becky Chambers.
Fugitive Telemetry by Martha Wells
Type: Novella Publisher: Tordotcom Release date: April 27
Den of Geek says: Wells’ beloved Murderbot has become one of the most entertaining and must-see characters of today’s science fiction. The android with a reluctant heart is not to be missed. Wells rarely fails to be entertaining.
Publisher’s summary: Having captured the hearts of readers across the globe (Annalee Newitz says it’s “one of the most humane portraits of a nonhuman I’ve ever read”) Murderbot has also established Martha Wells as one of the great SF writers of today.
No, I didn’t kill the dead human. If I had, I wouldn’t dump the body in the station mall.
When Murderbot discovers a dead body on Preservation Station, it knows it is going to have to assist station security to determine who the body is (was), how they were killed (that should be relatively straightforward, at least), and why (because apparently that matters to a lot of people―who knew?)
Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen: Murderbot must voluntarily speak to humans!
Again!
Buy Fugitive Telemetry by Martha Wells.
Hummingbird Salamander by Jeff Vandermeer
Type: Novel Publisher: MCD Release date: April 6
Den of Geek says: This eco-thriller from the author of Annihilation trades the weird setting for a more prosaic but just as mysterious chase.
Publisher’s summary: Security consultant “Jane Smith” receives an envelope with a key to a storage unit that holds a taxidermied hummingbird and clues leading her to a taxidermied salamander. Silvina, the dead woman who left the note, is a reputed ecoterrorist and the daughter of an Argentine industrialist. By taking the hummingbird from the storage unit, Jane sets in motion a series of events that quickly spin beyond her control. Soon, Jane and her family are in danger, with few allies to help her make sense of the true scope of the peril. Is the only way to safety to follow in Silvina’s footsteps? Is it too late to stop? As she desperately seeks answers about why Silvina contacted her, time is running out—for her and possibly for the world. Hummingbird Salamander is Jeff VanderMeer at his brilliant, cinematic best, wrapping profound questions about climate change, identity, and the world we live in into a tightly plotted thriller full of unexpected twists and elaborate conspiracy.
Buy Hummingbird Salamander by Jeff Vandermeer.
Top New Science Fiction Books in March 2021
Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro
Type: Novel Publisher: Knopf Release date: March 2 Den of Geek says: Nobel Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro is known for his literary fiction like The Remains of the Day and high-brow science fiction like Never Let Me Go. His newest tackles robot sapience in a story sure to be as much about the human heart as about machines.
Publisher’s Summary: Klara and the Sun, the first novel by Kazuo Ishiguro since he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, tells the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, who, from her place in the store, watches carefully the behavior of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass on the street outside. Klara and the Sun is a thrilling book that offers a look at our changing world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator, and one that explores the fundamental question: what does it mean to love?
Buy Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro.
We Shall Sing a Song Into the Deep by Andrew Kelly Stewart
Type: Novel Publisher: Tor.com Release date: March 9 Den of Geek says: Any comparison to A Canticle for Leibowitz goes pretty far here. This claustrophobic thriller with post-apocalyptic cult elements sounds intense and inventive. Publisher’s Summary: A Canticle for Leibowitz meets The Hunt for Red October in We Shall Sing a Song into the Deep, a lyrical and page-turning coming-of-age exploration of duty, belief, and the post-apocalypse from breakout newcomer Andrew Kelly Stewart.
Remy is a Chorister, rescued from the surface world and raised to sing in a choir of young boys. Remy is part of a strange crew who control the Leviathan, an aging nuclear submarine, that bears a sacred mission: to trigger the Second Coming when the time is right.
But Remy has a secret too―she’s the submarine’s only girl. Gifted with the missile’s launch key by theLeviathan’s dying caplain, she swears to keep it safe. Safety, however, is not the priority of the new caplain, who has his own ideas about the mission. When a surface-dweller is captured during a raid, Remy’s faith becomes completely overturned. Now, her last judgement may transform the fate of everything.
Buy We Shall Sing a Song Into the Deep by Andrew Kelly Stewart.
A Desolation Called Peace by Arkady Martine
Type: Novel Publisher: Tor Books Release date: March 2 Den of Geek says: Martine’s previous novel brought us to a world of poetry, AI, body-sharing, and high-stakes politics. The nascent rebellion against the Teixcalaanli empire takes a back seat as alien invaders threaten the empire and its colonies in the sequel. Publisher’s Summary: A Desolation Called Peace is the spectacular space opera sequel to Arkady Martine’s genre-reinventing, Hugo Award-winning debut, A Memory Called Empire.
An alien armada lurks on the edges of Teixcalaanli space. No one can communicate with it, no one can destroy it, and Fleet Captain Nine Hibiscus is running out of options.
In a desperate attempt at diplomacy with the mysterious invaders, the fleet captain has sent for a diplomatic envoy. Now Mahit Dzmare and Three Seagrass―still reeling from the recent upheaval in the Empire―face the impossible task of trying to communicate with a hostile entity.
Their failure will guarantee millions of deaths in an endless war. Their success might prevent Teixcalaan’s destruction―and allow the empire to continue its rapacious expansion.
Or it might create something far stranger . . .

Top New Science Fiction Books in February 2021
Sun-Daughters, Sea-Daughters by Aimee Ogden
Type: Novel Publisher: Tor.com Release date: Feb. 23
Den of Geek says: Space mermaids make for an automatically charming concept, as do the twists and turns (an witchy romance?) on the classic story. Publisher’s summary: One woman will travel to the stars and beyond to save her beloved in this lyrical space opera that reimagines The Little Mermaid.
Gene-edited human clans have scattered throughout the galaxy, adapting themselves to environments as severe as the desert and the sea. Atuale, the daughter of a Sea-Clan lord, sparked a war by choosing her land-dwelling love and rejecting her place among her people. Now her husband and his clan are dying of a virulent plague, and Atuale’s sole hope for finding a cure is to travel off-planet. The one person she can turn to for help is the black-market mercenary known as the World Witch―and Atuale’s former lover. Time, politics, bureaucracy, and her own conflicted desires stand between Atuale and the hope for her adopted clan.
Buy Sun-Daughters, Sea-Daughters by Aimee Ogden.
The Loosening Skin by Aliya Whiteley
Type: Novel Publisher: Titan Books Release date: Feb. 23 Den of Geek says: Science fiction allows us to explore how biology effects culture. Like Early Riser by Jasper Fforde, an absurdist novel that explores a world where humans hibernate, The Loosening Skin takes one biological concept (humans who shed) and wraps a mystery around it. Publisher’s summary: Rose Allington is a bodyguard for celebrities, and she suffers from a rare disease. Her moults come quickly, changing everything about her life, who she is, who she loves, who she trusts.
In a world where people shed their skin, it’s a fact of life that we move on and cast off the attachments of our old life. But those memories of love can be touched – and bought – if you know the right people.
Rose’s former client, superstar actor Max Black, is hooked on Suscutin, a new wonderdrug that prevents the moult. Max knows his skins are priceless, and moulting could cost him his career.
When one of his skins is stolen, and the theft is an inside job, Max needs the best who ever worked for him – even if she’s not the same person.
The Loosening Skin by Aliya Whiteley.
A History of What Comes Next by Sylvain Neuvel
Type: Novel Publisher: Tor.com Release date: Feb. 2 Den of Geek says: Sylvain Neuvel wowed with the Themis Files series, a fast-paced mech thriller with adventure, heart, and body horror. An alternate look at the space race turns into sharp science fiction in the first book in his new series.
Publisher’s summary: Showing that truth is stranger than fiction, Sylvain Neuvel weaves a sci-fi thriller reminiscent of Blake Crouch and Andy Weir, blending a fast moving, darkly satirical look at 1940s rocketry with an exploration of the amorality of progress and the nature of violence in A History of What Comes Next.
Always run, never fight.  Preserve the knowledge. Survive at all costs. Take them to the stars.
Over 99 identical generations, Mia’s family has shaped human history to push them to the stars, making brutal, wrenching choices and sacrificing countless lives. Her turn comes at the dawn of the age of rocketry. Her mission: to lure Wernher Von Braun away from the Nazi party and into the American rocket program, and secure the future of the space race.
But Mia’s family is not the only group pushing the levers of history: an even more ruthless enemy lurks behind the scenes.
A darkly satirical first contact thriller, as seen through the eyes of the women who make progress possible and the men who are determined to stop them…

The Hybrid: Part Five
Find all the parts HERE
Pairing: Jacob Black x Cullen
             Edward Cullen x Jessica Cullen
             Edward Cullen x Bella Swan
Plot: You are the last witch of your kind, you were turned after you vampire father decided to get back at your mother. In a effort to throurt him your grandmother transferred the magic of the entire coven over to you, so that when you woke a vampire you would have access to your magic but had the speed, heightened senses and immortality . After a century you meet Carlisle and agree to join his family. Everyone thought that you and Edward were going to end up married until he met Bella. You were left heartbroken until you meet a certain wolf.
Fandom: Twilight
A/n: So this is what inspired my story “The Hybrid” so I had to do it. Also the pairing only refers to the certain part. The pairings crossed out are the ones that will come in another part. The majority of this series will take place during Eclipse. Please note that everything in italics is a flashback.
Important! I have made some changes to parts three and two, they are minor but important. So you do not have to re read them, unless you want too, I will briefly explain. After some thinking I decided that the twins are going to be equally as powerful. Which means that Jessica is also a shape shifter and Nik can us magic just as well as his sister. Demetri will also be playing a key role but I go into more detail in this imagine. You will also get to see just how powerful the twins are.

  Rosalie's P.o.v
“Despite what everyone may be thinking, she wasn’t mad.” Jasper whispered softly, sighing when our family turned to glare at him. “She was, is actually, terrified. I don’t know what Demetri has done, but whatever it is, it has her and Niklaus, scared stiff. I think she reacted impulsively. I could feel that in that moment she, for some reason, felt trapped, she did the only thing she could think of that would allow her to leave without doing anyone any harm.”
“Of course she’s terrified. What Demetri did to her family, it’s beyond horrific.” Emmett sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose before turning to look at me. “I think it’s time we tell them.” I nodded, taking an unneeded breath before facing out family.
“You know of course, the story of how they were turned, or at least as much as they remembered. What you don’t know is what happened before and it is now important that you do understand. Demetri had tried to get to them but, due to their covens magic, was unable to. Instead he began to weaken the spell that kept him out by luring members of the coven out to him. He didn’t kill them, what he did was much worse. He took his time with the whoever he caught, they learned this when the soul of one of his victims came to them to warn them.’
‘ The victim, a young witch named Emily told them everything. How he would harm her, being sure to draw blood, for days. How he would break her bones just so she couldn’t run. The whole time he gloated about the others, how he would continue this attack until he was able to reach them. This last for several months, every week another would go missing and then their spirit would show up, explaining the horrors they endured. Their fear it isn’t for them, it for us. They are both afraid of what he will do to us if he ever found them. The fact that he now knows where they are is their worst nightmare come true. Add in the fact they know he won’t harm them because of Aro, only makes it worse.”
“Why turn Edward into a ferret then? Esme asked, holding the snow white ferret that was my brother carefully against her chest.
“My guess, she knew that unless she did something, we wouldn’t have let her leave, not when was is that upset. So she did the only thing she could think of. I mean a few hours ago she was laughing to the point of tears over some teacher turning a student into a ferret in whatever Harry Potter book she’s reading.”Emmett answered, smiling softly as he remembered the sounds of her laughter. Carlisle opened his mouth to speak but stopped as a large barn owl flew into the room. Seconds later Nik was standing in the middle of the room, ignoring us as he quickly gathered clothes, throwing them into a bag that he then sat on the window seat.
“Nik..” Esme began, moaning when he only turned once more into the own and soared out the open window, this time with a bag of clothing hanging from his talons. In the distance there was a hoot and Edward the ferret was no more. Esme dropped him at once, breathing a sigh of relief before turning back Emmett and I. “Will they come back?”
“Eventually. Emmett and I will go see them in the morning, hopefully by then Jacob and Niklaus will have managed to calmed Y/n down.”
“Not that it matters. They would never turn either of you into a damn animal.” Edward mumbled, scowling as he came back out, fully clothed.
“It could have been worse.” Alice chirped, clearly trying to lighten the mood. “They could have left you like that until Y/n was able to see reason.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Niklaus’s P.o.v
      I wasn’t at all surprised to see that Jacob had his window open and that a large snowy owl was sitting on the edge of his bed, hooting softly at him. I rolled my eyes as I soared the window, dropping the bag at Jacob’s feet. At once he bent and opened it, tossing me the pant I had thrown in just as I landed on his floor.
    “Sorry about this, between our grandmother and Edward she is both terrified and angry.” I sighed as I pulled my pants on, reaching out to turn him around. The moment our backs were turned Y/n shifted, she was still scared and angry enough that her magic was rolling off her in waves.
     “You turned him back didn’t!” She demanded, her voice low enough so it wouldn’t wake Billy.
    “Well one of us had too! What do you want to keep Edward as a ferret for the rest of his life?” I asked, growling as Jake tried to turn his head.
    “What the hell is going on?”Jake asked, ignoring me completely as he turned around. Thankfully Y/n was dressed, she choose a pair of plaid pajama pants and a tank top. The moment Jake had turned she was in his arms, shaking with silent sobs. He stared at me with wide eyes over his head as I quickly began to explain. As I did Jake moved both him and Y/n to the bed, pulling her onto lap and cuddling his against. Y/n sniffed softly, closing her eyes as Jake began to play with her hair.
    “Edward put you both in danger?” He repeated, his arms tightening around Y/n as if they would be enough to protect her from Demetri.
    “Unintentionally but yeah. However despite everything, there may be a way we can hide from him.” I frowned as Y/n cut me off, her voice thick with emotion.
    “What are you talking about? Nana said herself..”
   “That she wasn’t sure if we could.” I cut her off quickly, shaking my head as she began to interrupt again. “I know nana knows a lot, but this is new and completely out of her territory of knowledge. Remember what Jasper said about the new borns? That they are strongest that first year because they still had their human blood running through them, and that afterwards, when it’s gone they are just as strong as a normal vampire. Well it got me thinking, we can’t use our magic against our blood but if, say someone no longer had it.”
   “Then we may be able to.” She whispered, relief flooding her features. “Can we talk about this more tomorrow? All I want to do is cuddle with Jacob and go to sleep.”
   “Sure thing. Is it okay if I sleep in your sisters room?” I asked. “I would say we would go home but something tells me I am not getting her out of here without a fight.”
   “Sure, it’s right across the hall.” Jake muttered, his attention still fixed on Y/n, who had wormed herself free of his embrace to move over to hug me.
   “Good night Nik.” She sang, kissing my cheek before turning back to Jake, who had quickly gotten up and back into bed, clearly as exhausted as the Y/n and I. At once she crawled in beside him, curling herself into his side as he threw the blanket over them both.
   “Night guys.” I chuckled, smiling at the sight of them. If it wasn’t Jake, who looked like he was a blind man seeing the sun for the first time every time she came into view, I never would have left. Since it was though, I shut the door quietly behind me, confident in knowing that my sister was safe.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Your p.o.v
If Billy was surprised to see Nik and I sitting at his kitchen table, he hid it well. Instead he simply smiled at us both and joined us. Jake sent me a warm smile as he got his father some breakfast, Nik had woken up before us and made bacon, eggs and homefries along with coffee.
“Well you can stay here as long as you want.” Billy laughed as Jake placed a mug of coffee and his breakfast in front him. Shaking his head, he carefully pulled me up from my chair, sitting in before pulling me back onto his lap. I smiled and snuggled in against his chest, loving the way he kept one warm hand pressed against my hip.
“What are the plans for today?” Billy asked, smiling as Jake pressed a careful kiss to my shoulder.
“I am going to show them around La Push.” Jake explained, reaching past with his free hand to snag a piece of bacon. “Then I’m not sure.”
“Ahh well I hope you all fun. I will be going fishing with Charlie.”
The rest of breakfast past in silence, the only sound the scrapping of forks against the plate and then the gentle sound running water as Jake and I silently did the dishes, just enjoying being so close to one another. It was peaceful, but that peace was broken the moment we were all in Jake’s Rabbit.
“So I’ve been doing something. I think Nik has a point, about the whole your magic being able to stop him. I mean he still a threat as are the rest of the Italian blood suckers, but..”
“But it may not be a death sentence.” I finished, biting my lip as I nodded. “I just wish that there was a way to TEST it, to know for sure if our magic can protect us from him, to know for sure that we can protect ourselves and everyone else.”
“So do I. If we can test it, to be sure.” Nik started, shaking his head as if to shake off some thought. “But we can’t. So I say we just act like we can. Put up a spell that will alert us if Demetri or the Volturi leave Italy, I am sure you know one and then take it by year.”
“I know one but.. well I’ve never used it so I am not sure it will work the right way.”
“Try it on someone then.” Jake suggested, reaching out to grab my hand in his own. I smiled as his large hand engulfed mine, something that I would never stop enjoying. I smiled at the idea and nodded, knowing that this was the best way to figure it out. Sighing I closed my eyes and pulled a picture of Rose. Once I had it, I muttered the words, which were in some language that has long since died out. I knew it worked at once, because there was a silver cord connecting us, vibrating softly.
“Right.” I exclaimed, opening my eyes to grin widely at my two favorite people.”Should Rose leave today, we’ll know...” I was cut off by a sharp jab from the line connecting Rose and I. I had barely time to blink before I was no longer seeing the road in front us. Instead I was at home, watching as Rose and Emmett slipped into the car. A route flashed in mind, showing me just where she was headed. As quickly as it came, it left, leaving me feeling light head but pleased.
“What just happened?” Jake asked, his voice so full of concern that it instantly felt bad for causing it.
“Everything is okay, the spell works. Rose is on her way to the boarded. No doubt to scream at me for losing my temper last night.”
“Did you want to go back?” Nik asked, chuckling when I instantly shook my head.
“No I want to see Sam and Emily and then go see La Push. My scolding can wait.”
“Good because honestly, I really didn’t want to leave. I don’t know why, but I woke up this morning with the feeling that I should not leave La Push.”
“Well, seeing as you two are witches, I say we don’t ignore any feelings, especially ones that are telling you not to do something.” Jake laughed, turning to smile brightly at me.
“You just like it because it means she is staying.” Nik joked, earning a playful eye roll from Jake.
“No because who said that I would be leaving her. If she didn’t want to stay here, I would go to your place.”
“Like I would want to leave La Push.” I giggled. “I like it hear, it’s beautiful. Plus I have always been happiest close to water.”
“Sure and the fact that your boyfriend is here.”
“We need to find him a girlfriend. Maybe he won’t be so annoying then.” I joked, laughing as Nik playfully slapped the back of my head.
“Hey I am all for it. No more chaperones.”
“No it would simply mean double dates. You don’t get rid of me that easily Jacob.”
   “Worth a shot.”

Alec’s Secret (Alec Volturi x Reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Edward had threatened Alec that he'd tell you Alec's secret if he didn't leave. It was a very immature tactic but would work on any teenager of his age. However, no one seemed to consider what would happen after they left.
It had been a couple of hours and you were alone. You were certain someone was hunting you down and you didn't want to pick a fight. You were inexperienced. Your best outcome was to out run the threat. When you realised it was a Volturi. You immediately assumed the worst. Alec cornered you. Usually that wouldn't be possible in a forest but it certainly is when his mist is enveloping you both. "What are you doing?" You asked worried. "Making sure you don't run." He responded. "Would running be a good idea?" "No." "How about this, I promise not to run just...pull back the mist?" Alec inspected you for a moment before doing what you asked.
"Am I in trouble?" "No." He said again. "Then what's this about? I have nothing to do with Bella's change if that's-" "It's not that." Alec cut you off sharply. "I don't take kindly to threats." Your mind immediately flashed back to Edward's mentioning of Alec's secret.  "I don't need to know about it." You shook your head, trying to appease him as he grew more and more agitated. "You don't, but you will. I'd rather I tell you than him." His tone was maliciously and dripping with hate, this threat really bothering him. It made you worried what it could possibly be to force such a reaction. You were worried Alec had done something if you were honest, something to hurt you and you didn't know. You stayed of in silence, eyes shifting around nervously.
Alec was pacing, seemingly trying to control himself. "He's trying to take advantage of me." "What?" "He can't follow the law so he manipulates everything and used me to do it!" Alec grew more erratic as you tried to make sense of what he was saying worried what would happen if you didn't.  "How did he take advantage of you? I don't-" "He used my feelings for you to make sure he can continue to play his little game!" You inhaled sharply. "Feelings? What feelings?" "Don't pretend to be oblivious, you know exactly what I mean."  “H-How long has this-?”  “It doesn’t matter. It is wrong! Yet i can’t help it (Y/N), I can’t!” Silence overcame you both and Alec’s eyed darted to you before he immediately grasped your jaw, tightly but not painfully. “You can’t tell anyone. No one hears about this, understand? Don’t talk about it to any of them.”  “Does Aro know?”  “Of course, as do the rest of my coven but no one else is to know. Do you understand? You tell no one, you don’t even think about it.” You nodded frantically and Alec let go. He stared at you still, as though to drive the point across without actually talking. He seemed to grow agitated once again before growling. You didn’t have time to process as he lunged towards you yet only connected his lips to your cheek briefly before rushing away, leaving you alone. You exhaled, uncertain of what just happened.
As you promised, you didn’t say anything to anyone when you got back, You sat reading a book, or at least trying to. You couldn’t pay attention to the words on the page. “It is wrong!” Those words were bizarre to say the least but not completely out of bounds. To have such an affection for a Cullen, given the history was indeed pretty wrong, especially on his part. A new scent hit your nostrils to see Edward looking in on you as he leaned on your door frame. He had a solemn look. “He didn’t tell you everything.”  “What?”  “There’s more to his words than you realise. He didn’t tell you everything.”  “What didn’t he tell me?” Immediately, Carlisle’s hand was gripping Edwards shoulder in silent warning.  “They deserve to know.”  “You don’t have the right to tell them in this way.”  “Carlisle, no one knows how to tell them. They still need to know.”  “Know what?” You interrupted, worried.
Carlisle looked at you sympathetically. He moved in to sit beside you, Esme soon entering, giving Edward a look but moving to sit beside her husband. You were really worried now.  “There’s more to your change than we originally knew.” Edward finally said. “You were randomly attacked, you didn’t know who it was but they had bit you and left you. After many missed calls from Bella, you were found by Carlisle. That’s all that was ever known.” Carlisle continued. “When Emmett and Jasper took you out on your first hunt, we got a visitor.” Carlisle explained.
An unusual smell came from outside and Edwards eyes shifted to Carlisle, telling him someone was outside the door and looking for him. Carlisle silently nodded and headed to the door. He was surprised to see Vladimir, who looked slightly distressed but made a good attempt at it. Himself and Carlisle weren’t exactly friends, they knew of each other, but that was it. They had crossed paths multiple times but never did they consider one another friends, so to see Vladimir at his door with such an expression was unusual. He wasted no time on pleasantries, asking ‘if the human was alright’. Vladimir knew you were under the Cullen’s care but Carlisle never thought for a moment that he’d care. However, he didn’t believe in  coincidences in this case. How would Vladimir have known you were hurt in the first place?  “What did you do, Vladimir?” Carlisle said warily. Vladimir immediately explained everything. “The witch twin! He had been hunting me down, to the point i was certain the Volturi were done keeping me around but he made a bargain, please understand Carlisle, I had to do it to survive! He told me if I changed the human, i’d get to live longer. I did it and thought it’d be over with but the guilt...i’ve never felt such guilt. I don’t know what they plan for the human Carlisle but i simply couldn’t leave without saying something.”  “...They’re alright, they survived the change. Why would the boy make you do that?” “I wish i knew. He didn’t offer explanation. I understand if you couldn’t forgive me, but i just had to know since they...they’re from my venom now.” Carlisle nodded. “I understand.”  “Don’t tell them about me, not yet.” Vladimir asked. “Let them grow accustomed to this life.” Carlisle nodded again. “That we can agree on. I’ll take them under my wing, let them be accustomed to this life.” Whilst Carlisle held some anger to Vladimir, he couldn’t expect him to give up his life and clearly, Vladimir didn’t feel content with the circumstances to begin with. However he did admire the responsibility Vladimir held towards you. He had known vampires to feel a kind of responsibility to those they change but he never pinned Vladimir as one of them.
The shock hit you in waves.  “We decided it would be better for you to become accustomed to this life before we dealt with this. We don’t know what Alec is thinking, but our priority was you.” You were silent as Carlisle finished, unable to find the words.  “(Y/N)...” Carlisle lightly took your wrist and you looked up to meet his eyes. “I understand that this is a lot to take in and what ever you want to do about this, we will completely support you with. I ask that you trust me because i want to help you, all of this has been in your best interest.” With that explanation, you couldn’t bring yourself to be angry with Carlisle or the Cullen’s for hiding this. Instead, only one thing came to mind, something that made Edward straighten. A determined look washed over your face as you remembered Alec’s previous confession. There was only one thing left to do.
You were quiet on the journey to Volterra. Running over what you could possibly say to Alec when you got there. You weren’t angry, surprisingly, since you were forced to leave your human life for his own selfish desires but you needed to hear it from him. You needed to hear that your theory was either right or wrong. Judging by his confession, despite considering his feelings wrong, he threatened someone to change you because he was attracted to you. After all, he couldn’t do it himself. The Volturi don’t take on newborns. Carlisle felt a wave of panic when he fell behind you as you sped up seeing the castle. He called on you to wait but you didn’t listen.
You marched up to the receptionist, demanding that she called Alec down. At first she looked at you in alarm, seemingly oblivious but you weren’t patient. “Hello? You do understand English! Get Alec down here and get him down here now, before i go searching the halls for him!” Your head snapped towards the hallway where Felix, Demetri and Alec came forward. Seeing Alec, you immediately marched up towards him. Felix and Demetri moved to block Alec from you, Felix taking your arms and holding you back. “Now, now. Calm down.” You remembered that they might have been worried you didn’t have your newborn tendencies in control. “Don’t worry, I’m not doing to hurt him.” You assured them quickly but they didn’t let up. “Just tell me one thing Alec.” Alec looked at you silently. “Did you have me changed because you like me? Is that the only reason?”  Perhaps Alec couldn’t find the words, maybe he didn’t want to tell you but his eyes betrayed him. Such a theory wasn’t knew knowledge to him and you were certain you knew exactly why. You stared at him for a long time, you now finding it difficult to speak or even find the words to say. Slowly you turned around, you weren’t ready for the truth even if you thought you had been. Now having it, you regretted coming to Italy.
Alec’s words caught you, stopping you immediately. “I couldn’t trust the Cullen’s to change you.” You turned to look at Alec. Carlisle also looked surprised. “They seem almost incapable of changing the other one and whilst I have no issue with her time approaching to be killed, I cannot allow you to follow the same path. I cannot trust them to have your best interests at heart and so I will. I’ll always think of you first. They cannot offer the same stand point. They’re too busy with the human girl.” “Alec, you took me from my human life. My parents are grieving for me.” “I know, and I’m sorry. It is better this way.” “You rolled a dice with my life, if I survived the change…you couldn’t have been there to help me.” “This is the law, (Y/N). You staying human meant you would die. There is no other option. Changing you meant that you could have lived, which you did. I trusted the Cullen’s to take care of you and I was right. I just can’t trust them to take the necessary choices.” Alec examined your face, you looked hurt and shocked. “This is the reality of our kind. You couldn’t be protected from it forever. I was willing to be the villain if it meant you’d live and were safe.” “Was…?” You pointed out, eyes narrowing. Alec smirked. “I can see it. You can try to hate me. You can be angry with me all you like but it’s very apparent you don’t hate me. Dare I say it, you can’t bring yourself to hate me because you know the truth. It was much easier to consider me evil, taking you from a life without consent. However, now you know I didn’t do it out of selfishness. I did it because you weren’t safe and you weren’t a priority. Not with the human girl, around. You were second place and you would soon pay the price for it. I did a necessary evil to save you.”
You were taken aback. This was very different to the Alec who was in panic that you might find out his feelings. Yet, you understood where he was coming from. “I really hope you’re not lying.” Alec smirked with a quick scoff. “I don’t lie. Some would wish I did lie, a lie can sometimes be much sweeter.” “You did this with me in mind?” “I’ll admit, perhaps it wasn’t the best idea for my possible fleeting feelings but I did it and if you want an apology, I can assure you that you won’t get one. However, I will say it wasn’t my intention for you to know just how your change came to be.” Alec send a pointed, hard look to Carlisle. “How could you let me continue, not knowing how it happened? You threatened someone!” “A much better alternative to killing him, wouldn’t you agree?” Alec tilted his head. “How did you know about him anyway?” “He came to the house after the change. He felt terrible.” Carlisle spoke up, swallowing hard. Alec couldn’t help but smile with a surprised look. “Well, i never thought him to be so caring.” “This isn’t funny, Alec.” You said, horrified that he could ever see humour in this situation. Alec sent you a understanding look though the smile didn’t fade. “So I assume it’s safe to say you didn’t keep your promise to me.” “I did, to the best of my ability. Edward was around and thought something was off.” Alec sighed. “He causes so much problems.” He lightly shook his head. “Not to worry, I suppose it’s better you know now.”  “Promise me you’re not lying.” You said immediately. “Like you promised me?” “This isn’t funny. I mean it. You can’t lie to me about this.” “I never lie.” Alec repeated. “So is that your promise to me. That you’ve been completely honest with me?” “Yes.” You backed down, nodding. “Thank you.”
You looked up at Demetri and Felix. “If I approach him, will you stop me?” “They won’t.” Alec responded before they could. Clearly he was the one in charge here. The two stepped aside and you approached him, staring him down. “Are you sure about this?” Felix asked Alec. “If they were going to try to hurt me, they would have.” “You’re right.” You said. “I am a little angry at you but I don’t hate you.” Alec chewed back the urge to correct your grammar and continued to stare you down.
You reached out, pinching the fabric of Alec’s jacket covering his upper arms. You then leaned in pressing a kiss to his cheek before stepping back. You turned to Carlisle. “I want to go home now.” You wasted no time leaving. Alec folded his arms as Demetri cocked his head. The three guards watching you leave. Carlisle nodded to them before following behind you. Carlisle would leave you to your thoughts for a while before checking on you. You needed time more than anything.

His Dark Materials at the National Theatre
There’s no publicly available video* of the National Theatre production of His Dark Materials, but the script is pretty easy to find, as Nick Hern Books released it.
They condensed the three books into one two-part play - the same style as Cursed Child. Two plays, so four acts, with regular intervals and a prolonged break between the second and third acts.
Under the cut, I’ve got some general information about the show, and a list of notes about changes, as well as anything I’ve found interesting as I’ve been reading. At some point, I may do a full summary of what actually happens in the script, rather than contrasting it with the books.
If you have any questions about the script, I’m happy to answer!
* Unless you go to the NT archive in London, and you can watch it there, but as it’s an archive copy, it’s apparently pretty mediocre quality, so more of a reference for the staging than an actual viewing experience. And you can’t watch it unless you’re in the actual building.
For general staging and information:
The National Theatre has a drum revolve, and most shows use it when staged there. As His Dark Materials was specifically written for that theatre, the revolve is used very liberally throughout, and an example of its use can be seen here
A handful of photos can be found here, and lower quality ones can be found from a bit of a hunt online.
Lists of both casts can be found here.
National Theatre Archive pages for part 1 and part 2
Act One
Opens with Lyra and Will as adults on the bench in Oxford - their conversations don’t line up, but work in tandem, and Mrs Lonsdale appears towards the end to indicate they’re going back in time as a flashback - Will disappears, and Lyra is twelve again
Roger and Lyra only meet for the first time before the Retiring Room, and Roger goes with her, though he’s just a tagalong - Lyra still does everything of importance
Jopari is alive, and brought up by Asriel in the meeting - there’s no head
Billy's dæmon is Ratter and he takes the Tony role of being the severed child
Mrs Coulter openly wants Lyra working for the General Oblation Board, and wants to tell her about it after the cocktail party
"Lyra the liar!” is said by both Pan and Roger at different points
Lyra is picked up by the Gyptians who are already en route north - they go straight to Trollesund, and Ma Costa doesn’t appear at all
Lyra: "Haven't you got any self respect?" Iorek: "None."
Farder Coram and Serafina Pekkala are "long lost friend[s] of my [his] youth-time days", and they communicate sometimes still
Lyra sees Billy post-intercision in a Tartar camp and is kidnapped from there - rather than seeking him out
Lyra is grabbed to be intercised when she frees the severed dæmons, and the intercision begins because they want to shock Lyra into submission before Mrs Coulter arrives - she arrives just before the intercision
They make the human-dæmon bond visible in the intercision machine - presumably so that the audience knows what happens when we see it severed later
Mrs Coulter gets the Parent Reveal, and she claims that it was distress because of everything that happened before and during the trial that meant she couldn't look after Lyra, and that's when Lyra was taken away to Jordan
Serafina's first appearance is at the end of act one, when she rescues Lyra and Roger to take them to Svalbard
Mrs Coulter and the monkey have a wound in the same place from the spy fly
Act one ends with Mrs Coulter reaching and yelling for "Lyra!"
Act Two
also opens on the bench in Oxford, with Will recounting how he wound up in Ci’gazze, but goes back to Lyra and co in the balloon
Jopari gave the amber spyglass to Serafina, and she shows it to Lee - and shows him Dust
there is a bear in the script called “Stupid Bear”, and he keeps calling the Chief Bear “Sarge”
another bear is Disgruntled Bear, and he complains that Mrs Coulter is “making us cook our food”, and they all miss raw walrus
there isn’t a delay on Iorek arriving at Svalbard - he turns up with Roger not long after Lyra
Asriel: “I refuse to be preached at by a sanctimonious ten-year-old.” Lyra: “I’m twelve! I’m twelve!” Asriel: “Well, you would know.”
the witch is interrogated at Bolvangar - where Mrs Coulter is also told that the General Oblation Board has been closed down, its records expunged, and her Geneva bank account has been terminated
Mrs Coulter also tells Lord Asriel that she wants to stay in their world to find and protect Lyra from the Church
we see Asriel holding Salcilia - as though daemons don’t vanish when their humans die (which may just be so that they don’t have to make a daemon vanish onstage)
Lyra and Pan take Asriel’s explanation of “heads in one world, tails in another” to mean that Roger might be alive in another world, and that’s why they leave
Lyra’s secret name (ie Eve) is a Big Deal - with Mrs Coulter, the Church, and the witches
Ruta Skadi is intent on war, but she’s also intent on killing Jopari, taking that particular role from Juta Kamainen - however, there are multiple witches named in the script, none of whom have a name from the books, and none of whom are named onstage
Lyra on her parents: “Wasn’t it awful when they kissed like that?”
Lyra lists off friends they’ve made (”Iorek... Serafina... Mr Scoresby...”) and Pan matches with their daemons (”...Kaisa... Hester...”)
“Boys can’t cook.” “Well, this boy’s had to.” “In my world, servants do the cooking.” “In my world, the Coke is brown.” Lyra and Will get right to snarking at each other, and Ci’gazze Coke is green.
Lyra and Will exchange the alethiometer and the green writing case as a show of trust
Lord Boreal shows up to Will in the library while he is looking for papers on his father, gives him a cutting about the window his father left through, and steals the alethiometer while Will is distracted
Boreal steals the alethiometer because he assumes it’s the case with the letters in it
Part 1 ends with Will getting the knife, then a montage - the witches see the angels, Asriel appears in his fortress, Mrs Coulter is looking for Lyra, Will calls for his father, and Brother Jasper gives the President a piece of paper with “Lyra Belacqua’s secret name”
Act Three
Opens with a montage - Lyra and Pan running; the gap between the worlds, Asriel trying to convince Marisa to go with him, then Lyra holding Roger as he dies; Serafina addressing the witches; Lyra meeting Will; Mrs Coulter talking to the President; Will talking about his father to Lyra; Jopari and Lee Scoresby; the knife fight; Serafina and Ruta; the President summoning the Council after finding out Lyra’s secret name
in the next scene, it’s various clerics talking about Lyra being Eve as well as Asriel’s plans
Boreal: “I’ve asked my manservant to make up the guest room for you.” Mrs Coulter: “The guest room? Well, we mustn’t upset him. I must remember to rumple the sheets in the morning. You really are the most delightfully old-fashioned host.” MARISA
Boreal cultivates orchids
Marzipan becomes blackberries, told with Serafina and Farder Coram - and their son is born nine months later, after the blackberry incident, and dies soon after
Chevalier Tialys and Lady Salmakia are married in this - they’re introduced with her as his spouse
Mrs Coulter brings Giacomo Paradisi to the Spectres and has them eat his soul - Boreal is terrified; the children pickpocket Giacomo and tell Mrs Coulter where Lyra and Will went
Ruta Skadi says “I’ve seen those eyes before” about Will and it carries an awkward weight when she was in love with Jopari and is intent on killing him
Mrs Coulter uses the Spectres to kill Boreal, rather than poisoning him
we actually see the Spectres attack the witches, rather than just hearing about it - and Mrs Coulter tries to be nice to Lyra shortly before the murdering
Ruta Skadi calls for Yambe-Akka to take her before she kills herself - which is odd, as the witch that Serafina kills calls specifically for Serafina to kill her
a mid-act flash of Oxford - Lyra afraid she’d never wake up from the world of the dead, and Will remembering finding out that taking this journey was his mantle
Lord Asriel: “Her mother? Stuck in a cave? I don’t believe it. This is a woman who has her hair done twice a week at six in the morning.” I’m just going to question how Asriel knows this, assuming it isn’t decade-old knowledge.
Stelmaria: “You’d have killed her yourself, at Svalbard.” Lord Asriel: “No, I would not! I thought I’d have to kill her, for the sake of my experiment. When the boy walked in, I was vastly relieved and I let her go.”
Asriel decides to care about Lyra because he realises that’s where his enemy is focusing
Asriel appears in the fight at the cave, and there’s a brief and angry family reunion
Will shatters the knife because Lord Asriel tells him to think of his father - but in the cover of the fighting, pulls Lyra away
Act three ends with Lord Asriel yelling “Lyra! Lyra!”
Act Four
Opens in Asriel’s fortress, with him getting information from Tialys and Salmakia
Marisa and Asriel have a (very angry) conversation about how they’ve both grown to care for Lyra - Marisa, because Lyra somehow changed her; Asriel, because he’s finally clocked that she’s important and in danger (and is trying to manipulate Marisa because he wants the knife)
Rather than talking, the monkey makes stabbing gestures in the air to indicate the knife
it turns out Asriel did actually take Lyra away because “You were raving mad! You’d have throttled her in her cradle!”
Mrs Coulter: “Then you ignored her, you neglected her, year after yearm she had no decent company, no education...” they’re really just sat here going, “no, you’re the shittier parent!” and arguing for five full pages
The actor playing Pantalaimon appears as Lyra’s Death. That’s an actual, heartbreaking stage direction.
Tialys and Salmakia don’t go to the world of the dead - they report back to Asriel that Lyra and Will escaped
Brother Jasper: “Father President, let me speak. I have sinned. I had evil thoughts.” President: “You are not the first young man to have been corrupted by Mrs Coulter. Make up for it on the battlefield.”
Lyra and Will help the Authority to die, and he smiles the whole time
Mrs Coulter and Lord Asriel see Brother Jasper about to kill Lyra, and throw themselves onto him to drag him into the Abyss - somehow, it takes two people to do that, rather than just kicking him, but anyway, this is what happens when we cut out Metatron
Pan and Kirjava both appear as cats, but they’ve both settled, and there’s nothing indicating he changes into a pine marten over the course of the conversation
“On Midsummer night at midnight... and talk til dawn, just like now, as though we were together again. Because we will be.”
The final line is Lyra saying “The republic of heaven”, after which two clocks are heard striking. Lyra picks up Pan, and she and Will pass each other, and walk out of sight.
So the changes are pretty inevitable when they’re trying to condense 1000 pages into five hours. As with reading any script, it feels ridiculously fast paced - but when a brawl between bears is reduced to a few lines of sparse stage directions, of course it feels fast.
One change that I actually quite like is the exchange of the letters and the alethiometer. It makes it a bit more believable - there’s no need for Lyra to not recognise Boreal, and the slimy bastard is obviously going to be able to distract Will with information about his father, given that’s what Will is in the library searching for. Parts of The Subtle Knife honestly make Lyra out to be a bit of an idiot - making it a case of Will being forcibly distracted makes it a lot more understandable than “Lyra gets in a car with a stranger”. And it makes his determination to get the alethiometer back while he’s still bleeding all over the place make a bit more sense. But the initial exchange of letters and alethiometer is honestly quite sweet, and it’s something I’d actually really like to see in the series, if I’m honest.
As much as I hate Mary and the Mulefa being cut, I get it. That’d be a fucker to put onstage - and there’s already a ridiculous amount going on, so they do need to streamline somewhere. I know that it’s missing, but it doesn’t feel like it’s missing, as so much is going on anyway.
The removal of Metatron has me livid. I know that they needed to streamline, but they could have pushed Brother Jasper into the abyss, it wasn’t a two person effort. Come on. Come on.
The characterisation of Marisa is interesting, too - they start hammering in her switch to being uncharacteristically maternal fairly early, and the fact that they change it so that Lyra was pretty much stolen from her makes it somewhat believable that she’d make that switch so easily. It’s obviously something that has been changed so that it seems like a natural character progression, but it’s really damn weird.
But to summarise - a few good changes, a few that I don’t like but which I understand, and a few that I neither like nor understand. And that’s always going to happen with adaptations. If I do a full summary, I’ll link it here... providing I remember. And again, if you’re curious about anything from the script, I’m happy to answer, and if it’s something else about the play, I’m happy to try to find out.

The Comic: Chapter 3
Concept: The young Jester of your father's court has always been a constant sound in the background. But suddenly he is leaving the shadows and is tossing himself into your spotlight. What is this strange feeling??
Tumblr media
A/N: Highkey, love writing this series. Love this idea which has been made into a novel before and I read it. It was...not good. So I decided to put my own spin on it and even thought litterally only 3 people care about this, I'm having fun. So *blows raspberry*. This is honestly apart of my mental self care because its something I enjoy and makes me happy and I encourage other writing blogs to do the same. If you have any requests, don't be afraid to ask and I love to hear feedback from you guys, it means a lot!✌❤
Warnings: NSFW, gore, violence, and smut???

The image of that girl kept you up for the rest of the night. The ball has come to a quick end once the devil's daughter was taken away. The acceptance of your strange gift from Lord Lincoln put a bitter taste in everyone's mouth. Including your own.
What were you thinking? Accepting something so, outrageous and possibly dangerous. Could you make him take it back? No, no you couldn't. And what did this mean for you arrangement? Did this mean you were obligated to marry Lincoln of the Grounder Empire? But there was peace between your people for now, it would make much more sense to marry Prince Bellamy and secure a relationship with the Arch Kingdom. But if you rejected Lincoln, would that mean the start of another war? And if you refused Bellamy would that ignite a war between your two kingdoms.
You tossed and turned all night, your head filled with a million different things. A million worries, troubles, thoughts, feelings, it drove you mad. And yet above it all the image of that poor girl stuck the most. It gave you nightmares in what little sleep you got. Eventually, your aching bones allowed you to get up from your bed and shuffle across your chamber room floor.
It was torturing you. You had to see her again, had to look at her up close. She couldn't have been real. And yet you remember the sight of her made your heart pround and your stomach turn. You had to see her again.
So you wrapped yourself in a robe, and with nothing but a candle light, you crept down from the tower and deep down into the dungen. Two gaurds which sat at the dungen doors seemed to pay you no attention. Upon clooser inspection, you found them asleep. How convenient, you thought.
You entered through a large gate with ease and found the faceless figure of the girl as she sat on the dirt floor. Beyond the bars she was put behind, were more walls of cages and bars that kept most prisoners. Enemies of your father and petty theives, murderers, etc. You'd never been down here before. The intensesity of the horrid place was enough to make you run back to saftey. And yet once you found her, you hid and couldnt stop watching her.
She leaned her head against the wall, her head unable to reach the wall due to the hunch of her back. The poor thing gave a sad sigh before she liftes her hands and brushed aside the hair from her face. Two sparkling green eyes and rosey cheeks shattered every expectation. Her face was beautiful by any standard, but her gentle eyes were filled with sadness. As she relaxed, she reached down to her feet. She took her anckle in one hand, and held the hoove with the other. And with a gentle pull, the hoove and a part of her "ankle" popped off. The prosthetic revealed the truth. She simply had no feet. You relaxed for just a moment. She was no demon.
"Are you lost, princess?" A voice growled behind you. You let out a sharp gasp as you turned to find Jasper standing right behind you, too close for comfort. His eyes dark and glaring into yours. He was angry.
"Jester!" You gasped.
"You shouldn't have come here, you were a fool to venture so far from your room."
"I just- I couldn't-" unable to finish a sentence, your heart racing in your chest and head, you stepped away to escape. Jasper reached out and grasped yoir wrist to pull you back. His fist turned around your flesh and it stung wildly, forcing a grunt of pain from your lips. He pulled you back to him forcefully. You'd never seen him so vicious or angry before. It scared you.
"Now you've seen her up close, you've seen the truth. You've seen what becomes of people like her! You've seen what monarchs like YOU do to people like US." He shouted.
"Jester, please." You begged and pulled away from him. He reached out and pulled your other wrist in his other hand to keep you even closer.
"You will call me by my name! As you will know her's! Look at her!" He hooked his around around your waist and turned your back to him. He forced you to look at the poor girl as she stared up in confusion and fear. "Her name is Elizabeth! She was left alone after your damn council convicted her mother of being a witch where she was burned by the stake. She has been struggling to survive till that damn Empire found her in a traveling circus." He hissed in your ear through gritted teeth.
"Let me go." You growled. "You could be executed for this."
"We are all damned to an empty fate so long as your kind is alive." He breathed in your ear.
"Let go of me...Jasper..." You stated firmly with a shaking voice. He took a few deep, heavy breaths before his grip lightened. You looked to Elizabeth, who stared up at you with a pleeing gaze. Once Jasper let you go, you booked it out of there.
You ran, and ran, and ran all the way back to your room. Your chest heaving, your mouth dry from panting, your heart aching in fear and pain. Your quickly reached your chamber room door, and slammed it shut behind you. You didn't sleep for the rest of the night.
Why did he touch you that way? He knew the risk, he knew you could report to your father and have Jasper killed. You should. But you wouldn't. You couldn't. No matter how wrong it was, no matter how much it hurt to have him yell at you like that. It didn’t mean it was right for him to do so, but he had a point. And the way he pressed you against his chest, the way he...held you. It made you shake. You were unsure of exactly what this feeling was, but it made your head spin and it drove you wild.
You had fantasies of Jasper before. You called him a pest and tried to counter act as best you could. But your feelings for him persisted and refused to leave. Even after his rage towards you. Especially after. You were seeing a different side of him, a new one, a real one.
The next morning, Abby found you sat quiet and ready to be dressed. It unerved her to say the least that you were so prepared and so soft spoken that morning. It was completely and totally out of character.
"Good morning, princess." She addressed you, awkwardly and unsure.
"Good morning, Abby." You looked up at her with an emotionless gaze. It made her uneasy.
"Are you feeling alright?" She asked as she brushed your hair and helped you dress. You shifted for a moment in thought.
"Just, tired." You admitted.
"I see. Just don't let your gaurd down." She told you as looked back over your dress to ensure you were presentable. You could have used that advice a little sooner.
The guests of the ball had stayed. They would stay for three days, and by the end, you were expected to pick a suitor. This was a rule set by your father. This was the first day of three. This day was filled with entertainment, shows by Jasper, Monty, Murphy. Competitions between nobel men of sword fighting, arrows, axes, ridiculous displays of strength. All of which Bellamy and Lincoln participated in, in hopes of catching your attention and for their own egos. But your attention was not on them, they were on Jasper. Who had decided it was a good idea to flirt and tease Princess Octavia. She appeared to have no interest in him, and even scolded him at one point. It made you smile a little.
You were to spend time with your suitors, chaperoned of course. And so you took walks with them about the royal garden with poor Monty picking at his lute behind. It all felt very awkward. Your conversations were boring and mundane to say the least. Though, Bellamy had been a slight bit more entertaining than Lincoln. Your decision though would still be based on political action. This was your one and only political contribution, and you were lucky your father was allowing you to choose.
After it all, you finally managed to sneak away and be alone in a small chamber that was often used as a study. You leaned against a desk and took a sigh of relief. Until the door behind you opened and closed. You assumed it to be Harper, or Clarke.
"Please, give me one moment of peace, for the love of god." You spoke as you turned, and froze. "Jester."
"We're alone, princess, you can call me Jasper."
"Jasper, you shouldn't be here."
"I could say the same to you."
"If we are found alone-"
"We won't." He reassured. His eyes didn't look at you. He held his head down, as if sad or in shame. "I came to, apologize." He stated shyly.
"There is no need, Jasper I-" you went to move to escape the room, but he stood in front of the door.
"Please. Let me explain myself."
"You don't have to, I understand." You reasoned.
"No, you don't. I am so deeply sorry for what I said, for what I did to you last night. I practically bruised your wrists!" He gently reached out and let his fingers brushed against your wrists. You threw your hands away. "Please princess, I never meant to hurt you. I was so angry. That poor girl." He trailed off.
"I forgive you, Jasper. I understand your anger and your hatred. Now please, move aside."
"That isn't all I have to say. Before you go to your father, before I am killed, I have more to say to you." He looked at you with pleading eyes. "Princess, I fear that I may never get the chance to tell you this again. I thought I had more time, but I now realize you will soon be gone for good. It breaks my heart to know that I may never see you again." He slowly reached his hand out again, and took yours. Gently and tenderly. You started to shake. He lifted your hand to his lips and left a soft kiss. "I have loved you since I first layed eyes on you."
"Jasper."
"You have haunted me ever since, and knowing I would never be able to have you has broken my heart. But the notion that you will no longer have a place in my life shatters my very soul. I live to make you smile and to hear your laugh. I wanted you to know this before it is too late." He looked up from your hand, back to you. His deep brown eyes, filled with tears now. You fell frozen, you didn't know what to do. "I know your hatred for me, and I know-"
"I don't hate you." You spoke up. He let your hand down from his face, and you held it back. "I've never hated you." You admitted. You never truly did, he found him annoying at times but...your mutual love for him was always there. His eyes filled with hope. His chest heaved as he looked into your eyes, waiting for you pulk away. When you didn't, he moved quickly and suddenly. For the first time, you felt lips against your own as he kissed you. It was so soft, so sweet. It sent a chill down your spine. He wrapped his arms around you as you placed your hads on his chest. You kissed him back and be held you close in a moment of pure passion and desperation for one another.
"Princess, I-"
"My name is not Princess, Jasper." You whispered.
"I love you, Y/N."
"I love you, Jasper." You told him. He let out a soft chuckle of happiness and smiled. Tears would have fallen for it not for another kiss. A passionate and heated kiss that made your blood boil. You wanted him closer. You felt more and more desperate for him as he leaned down and kissed your neck and whatever exposed flesh be could. You let out whimpers and moans in response. You let out an especially loud one when Jasper's hands started to wonder your clothed body.
"Are you alright?" He asked, concerned. You nodded, your cheeks hot and red. "Oh sweet princess, you've never been touched before, have you?" You shook your head. "Forgive me, I'll be gentle." He whispered before kissing you again. You felt so dizzy and yet so grounded at the same time. Before you knew it, you were pressed up against a desk. Jasper's hands hiking up the skirt of your dress and pulling down the shorts underneath. You wanted this so badly. You wanted him. Needed him. And he needed you.
"Jasper" you moaned as he kissed your neck. He gave a smile and huff as he held you close to him.
"You have no idea how long I've wanted you like this." He whispered into your neck. His hand went down to caress your thighs. And then suddenly you felt his touch. You let out a sharp gasp in surprise as he started to play with you. No one else had ever touched you before, no one but yourself. He made you moan into his lips as he kissed you passionately. You took your hand in his, and guided you down to his cock. He moaned and twitched under your touch as you stroked him. You drove him wild.
Jasper held you close to him by your waist as he pressed himself against you, positioning himself st your entrance. You could feel your heart racing in your chest and the adrenaline pumping through your veins. You let out a harsh gasp as he pressed forward and slid into you. He held you so close and so tight, it was comforting in that moment. You felt pain at first, sharp and stunning. Until it became dull. He started to move and something switched inside your head. You became a mess. You were vulnerable and weak, you were his and his alone. A moment so intimate and pure in that moment. You'd never felt anything like it.
He grunted and moaned as he bucked his hips into yours, he cling to you as he made love to you. Making sure you felt pleasure instead of just pain. Before you knew it, he had reached his high and began twitching and moaning your name helplessly. You held onto him as you felt him cum inside you. You may not have reached a climax as he did but, you felt a calming and pleasent sensation that ran throughout your body. It made you smile as you kissed him. He panted for a moment before kissing your all over and holding you close still.
"Oh Y/N," he panted, "you are an angel." He rested he head on your chest and held you there for a moment. "It is every man's dream to have you like this." He cooed. "I can die a happy man knowing you have loved me."
"Please don't talk about death anymore." You asked him as you ran your hands through his hair lovingly.
"You better go back to the festivities before anyone notices you are gone."
"We both should."
"Not together."
"No. Not together" You nodded. You fixed yourselves, though you didn't expect yourself to be so weak after. Your head spun and your legs were wobbly. Before you left the room, Jasper grabbed you by your arm and planted yet another passionate kiss on your lips. Oh what a rush that gave you.
"Good luck out there, princess."
"You too, Jester."

The Sinners and Their Saints Chapter 24: Slime Part 1
Five months later...
"And so good people of Maine." The new mayor said to the crowd of people watching him speak. "Thanks to your votes and to the committee kind enough to clean up the damage caused five months earlier our city is once again safe and well built. And as your new mayor I promise you I shall ensure that it stays that way."
The crowd clapped and cheered at his words. Unaware that underground a strange and mysterious reddish-black slime was bubbling up. Then out of no where the porthole from the sewers burst open and the slime came rising up and crashing down, flooding the area. The people screamed and fled for their lives. The slime began to flood the area and other parts of the city. At first the mayor sent several clean up committees to fix it but this slime seemed to be alive. But that only marked the beginning of trouble, random fires were started, domestic animals were acting wild, and some of the people were randomly attacking and killing others. Rational doctors suggested insanity but this was becoming a regular basis and lots of people were blaming the mayor.
"Good lord." He said looking at the chaos outside. "What have I gotten myself in to?"
"If you ask me a great big problem, a great big supernatural problem." He turned to see an old man walking in from the shadows.
"Ah! How the hell did you get in here?"
"I broke down the door."
"Security!"
"Don't bother I knocked out your body guards."
"What do you want? Why are you here? You're not apart of the angry mob who wants to tear me apart are you?"
"No I'm the person who may have the answers to your problem."
"What are you talking about?"
"Mayor Talbot do you believe in the supernatural or the paranormal?"
"What do you mean?"
"Devils, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, witches, ghouls, monsters, ect."
"Of course not! That's ridiculous! Those things don't exist."
"Believe me Mayor Talbot they're as real as God."
He tossed him a book. It had a brown, leather cover that was slightly torn.
"What is that?"
"If you doubt my words read that journal, my brother wrote it. Before he died in war he began studying paranormal creatures and wrote them down in his journal. There are photos and information that prove everything I just said was true. If you read this and you still don't believe in it then good luck with the angry mob but if you do start to believe then call this number."
He tossed him a slip of paper with a number written on it.
"Ask for Father Gardner, he'll know what to do, see you around."
"Wait a minute, who are you?"
The old man stopped at the door and looked at him.
"Pines." He said before leaving. "Stan Pines."
...
After the incident with Jasper being destroyed and humanity being saved from extinction you'd think the people of Maine would've been more grateful to the exorcists and vampire slayers but they weren't. You see during their jobs of exterminating monsters they had unintentionally caused some physical damage to the city. The former mayor was enraged along with everyone else in the town and they insisted that they pay for what they had done. So the former mayor sued both the Van Helsing Organization and the Holy Order and they threatened to have each member of both groups arrested if they ever tried to hunt monsters again. So the Van Helsing Organization was shut down, the Holy Order became a regular church, the vampire slayers had to be fired and look for the new work and the exorcists had to only do clergy work.
Manny and Steven had to go into hiding because they had exposed themselves as a devil and a vampire which caused the people to fear them. They were kept underground in the Van Helsing Organization and weren't allowed to leave unless it was an emergency. If they were ever caught then they would be arrested or taken away by the government for experimentation. For Steven he didn't mind because he was very easy going and understanding but Manny was restless and stubborn, he didn't like being locked up and treated like a freak. Not many had figured out that Dipper was a werewolf so he walked around free but he wasn't allowed to transform. He left with Pacifica to continue in their search for evidence against Gideon. Of course Connie got a job working as a dancer for a club, not a stripper club just a regular one where people could just enjoy dinner and a show. Aside from being good with a sword, Connie was a great dancer so she got paid well and she roomed with Sister Sadie at the Holy Order. Frida had decided to try and make it on her own, so despite objections from Manny she relieved him from his guardian job by removing his belt and left town to do missionary work.
Father Gardner tried to convince her to stay with him again at least but she insisted that she was tired of people always looking after her and that she wanted to take care of herself. She was sixteen and technically not Gardner's daughter so he couldn't stop her from leaving. But he still sent Dusk and Dawn to follow her, spy on her, and report to him if anything is wrong but not to let her know they were there. Solomon was becoming stir crazy, once his organization was shut down he had to start working as a plumber which he found boring and unsatisfying in life. Sister Nora just continued to run the church like she did before all this happened but from time to time she would pay Solomon or Gardner a visit to find out how things were going. Father Gardner went back to the days of a regular minister but he would still continue keeping an eye out for any paranormal dangers, law or no law he knew they had to be stopped if they attacked. You can imagine his surprise and joy when Mayor Talbot called.
"I appreciate you coming here Mayor Talbot." Father Gardner said to the man following him into the building.
"I must admit Father I'm still a little skeptical about all this but with my city on the verge of destruction I guess desperate measures need to be taken."
"Yes I've seen what's been happening to the city and I've been wanting to put a stop to it but unfortunately that order the former mayor made the judge sign has prevented me from doing anything."
"Well if you can help fix this city then I'll tear up that order."
"Worry not Mayor Talbot, I can definitely fix this problem. You see what you have is a paranormal problem therefore you need a paranormal solution to fix it. One can always count on well I can't say logical but an answer at least."
"What do you mean paranormal solution?"
"What I mean is there are things that go bump in the night Mr. Mayor and we bump back There is a team of highly trained professionals who have taken out more demons, vampires, and other monsters than anyone else I know of."
"So just to be clear you do believe in it?"
"Of course don't you?"
"Uh...I'm not sure."
"Figured you'd say that. Not many politicians are open to the illogical. Let me give you the 411 on our team and a little warning for ya they may not be what you expect at first."
He followed him into his office and sat down. Gardner opened a filing cabinet and pulled out five files that contained articles and profile pictures on each team member.
"Your leading team are six teenagers?"
"Don't let their age fool you, especially the boys they're actually way older than they look."
"Who are they?"
He handed him the profile pictures and began reading the articles.
"Manny Rivera the devil, hot tempered and dangerous, yet he's a big softy underneath but don't tell him I said. He can change from human to devil, grow wings, has heightened senses, shape changing, and prokinesis. He is flame retardant due to being half devil and is immune to holy defenses such as holy water due to being half human. Word of warning don't make him angry."
"Wait he's a devil?"
"Don't interrupt." Solomon said. "The rock hard giant with fangs and a pacifist complex is Steven Universe the vampire. He can fly, is by far the strongest being God has placed on earth since Samson, and can see in the dark. He is immune to sunlight and does not need human blood to survive however he's deathly allergic to garlic so we can't have Italian food anymore."
"Hold up a vampire?!"
"Please let me finish. Then we have Dipper Pines our werewolf. Highly intelligent, chooses brains over brawn every time. Can transform into a wolf, has the strong senses of a canie, is incredibly fast, and can communicate with wolves. Very smart but tends to give in to his animal urges."
"Like what?"
"Howling at the moon and peeing on the floor. Apparently he's not housebroken."
"Uh....Okay."
"Frida Suarez the nun. Looks like an angel and has a voice to match but her personality is nun too holy, pardon the joke. Gifted with healing powers, medical remedies, mediumship, and excellent aim. She's a top exorcist and every unholy creature's worst nightmare. I should know I trained her myself from the time she was twelve."
"Trained her to do what?"
"Why shooting demons of course."
"Shooting? A shooting nun?"
"I did say she was nun too holy again pardon the joke. The spitfire with a timid heart is Connie Maheswaran the vampire hunter. Agile, quick-witted, reflexive, and determined. She is one of the best swords women this city ever knew and has become a master at hand to hand combat."
"Never thought a woman could do that."
"There lots of things in this world most people don't consider. Last one would be Pacifica Northwest the jewel witch."
"Northwest? As in Preston Northwest's daughter?"
"Yes and you are forbidden from breathing a word of this to him or the media if you do we'll find you and erase your memory of it. Anyway while she is an aristocratic heiress with the demeanor of an ice queen, she has the ability to track, summon, and control jewels and precious metals which she can use as weapons and defenses. She's not easy to work with but she's proven to be very helpful."
"With all due respect a lot of this makes little to no sense to me."
"Hmmm..Maybe you should meet some of them. Follow me."
He followed him down a stairway into a basement.
"So far only two of them are here, the rest of them are away doing their own business."
They walked down a corridor of different doors then stopped at one. Father Gardner knocked politely on to the door.
"It's open." Said a voice on the other side said.
He opened the door and they entered an apartment with the usual furniture, supplies, and other things. The lights were dim, it had different radios playing different types of music, while several bats were hanging from the ceiling.
"Yeah he really likes music and he likes bats so sometimes he'll let them in." Father Gardner said. "Careful one of them might crap on your head. Steven!"
"Yes?"
"Where are you?"
"Up here." Just then Steven swung down from the ceiling, upside down by his feet. "Hello."
"Ah! I hate it when you do that." Father Gardner said startled.
"Sorry I just find it easier to think when I'm upside down."
"Come down here and meet the mayor."
"Okay."
He then dropped from the ceiling landing on his feet.
"Mayor Talbot this is Steven Universe, Steven Mayor Talbot."
"Hi nice to meet you." He said cheerfully shaking his hand and unknowingly applying a huge amount of his strength to his grip.
"You're crushing my hand." The mayor gasped.
"Sorry." Steven said releasing his hand.
"Whoa! That's a killer grip you've got there." The mayor said.
"Thanks I get it from my mom."
"Steven the mayor and I have something we want to discuss with you so can you please meet us in the staff room in an hour."
"Sure see you there."
"Great." They left his room and continued down the hall.
"Well he's not what I expected in a vampire."
"Well he is half human Mr. Mayor."
"I suppose but still don't you think it's a little risky leaving his door unlocked? After all he is half vampire."
"Yes but he doesn't drink human blood and he maybe strong but he wouldn't hurt a fly and he understands that he can't be seen in public so locking him up is completely uncalled for."
They arrived at another door. This was at the very end of the hall, was made entirely out of steel, and was locked by a code you had to put in.
"Now this one we have to keep locked up."
"What?"
"You'll see."
Gardner punched in the code and the door opened to reveal another apartment. Likke Steven's it had the right furniture and stuff but this one had some broken and burned stuff.
"Manny is a lot more restless than Steven and more hot tempered. He's sneaked out of here once or twice so we have to keep him locked in his room."
"Um why is some of his stuff broken or burned?"
"Sometimes when he gets real angry he'll smash some stuff or set them on fire luckily this room is flame retardant so we don't have to worry about him burning the place to the ground."
"Is he safe to be around?"
"As long as you don't make him angry."
"Don't you people knock?" An annoyed voice asked. Manny walked in from his bathroom. "Who's the guy in the suit?"
"Manny this is Mayor Talbot."
"Is this the guy who wrote that order saying I had to stay locked up?"
"No this is the new mayor and technically that order said you had to stay out of sight we chose to lock you up because you snuck out."
"I wanted to see her and maybe get some air or a good drink."
"You know that's not allowed."
"Ask me if I care? Anyway why is this guy here?"
"Well the city is having a problem and he is considering asking us to fix it."
"What's the matter? Cops can't help?"
"It's a paranormal issue."
"Not interested."
"Manny."
"Every time we help these people all they did was complain and now Steven and I have to live underground for the rest of our lives."
"Manny if we do this he might consider removing that order."
"And if he doesn't I will have wasted my time for nothing."
"Look just come to the meeting and maybe we can work out a deal."
"Fine but only because I have nothing better to do right now."

Jasper Holt shares our delusions. They are 28, they are a witch,  and they are a rescue. While they might be accepting, sometimes they get paranoid. They are a sub/switch in bed, and homosexual. They are into roleplay and sensory play/bondage and want a dom/switch partner.
Name: Jasper Archer-Holt Age: Twenty-seven Gender: Male Sexuality: Homosexual Race: Witch Magic: Manipulation and control of decay in both organic and inorganic material. Connections: Mother: Emily Archer (Deceased), Father: Marius Holt (Unknown), Twin sister: (Role Open for play) Personality: +Insightful, +Patient, +Compassionate, +Observant -Withdrawn, -Cautious, -Paranoid, -Awkward
TW: Child abuse, animal abuse and death, gore, physiological abuse
Jasper had another Sponsor for a short time when he arrived in town eleven years past, he was granted status as a resident six months after because of his seemingly entirely harmless nature and withdrawn habits...plus his Sponsor found him really creepy and pushed for it. At that point he basically settled into a place of his own and rarely had contact with other people so few in the town knew much about him before the night he attacked a newcomer to the town for what most think is no apparent reason. There is a reason but he never tried to explain himself, feeling too guilty over it to do so, and most of the people to witness it were so startled by the gruesome nature of his powers, and the intensity of them, that even now people aren’t sure what happened.
He was allowed to stay in the town but is not once again a Rescue on very limited time; if he doesn’t find a Sponsor soon he will be kicked out and knows this.
[History]
Jasper was born one of a set of twins, the first born in fact, with his counterpart being a sister. Their family was a moderately well viewed one within a Coven of modern Wiccan and Hedge Witches, wealthy initially, due to their father’s gambling habits and his magical sway over luck and odds. Life was always a series of unsteady ups and downs for Jasper though; his father was an exceedingly cold man who lusted for the sort of image in the eyes of others that his simple beginnings would never allow and his anger was very often turned against those he could rule over in his home. The standings of the family within the Coven came from his mother’s bloodline and he resented it greatly.
Jasper was always the target of choice, under the belief that as the son of the family it was his job to shoulder burdens and be strong. And there was a great deal to shoulder; both physical and mental abuse were a constant whenever his unstable father’s luck happened to run thin. His mother was a warm spot for him, her kindness towards her children those early years along with the worry that if he didn’t manage to appease their father that anger might turn on his sister marked so much of Jasper’s childhood and cultivated a deep need to safeguard others in him.
Life tumbled painfully downhill after a series of bad bets left the family bank account nearly dry and their expansive California seaside estate was drastically downgraded near his seventh year of life. By that point their Coven had already begun to write off their family as trouble due to Marius’ use of magic for his own gain so there was little help to be had there.
Jasper’s mother took on a local retail job, much to the annoyance of his father, to keep the family on their feet. Time passed sluggishly and with it Jasper began to suffer from anxiety without the comfort of his mother to make it more bearable. He would plead with her to leave their father, endlessly but every time she would come close to agreeing the family luck would spin again and things would take a turn for the better, at least in the sense of money. Jasper learned to wait for the good days and choke down the worry that those days would end again.
Somehow he survived it, they all did, and when the money became steady and his father had built his own nightclub to feed his gambling habits in the back rooms Jasper wanted to believe it was finally getting better. But it wasn’t, and by then there was so much damage done; the boy was nervous by nature, uneasy and withdrawn. When one of his teachers began to notice it he begged her not to speak with his parents, knowing how his father would blow up. In a desperate attempt to save himself the backlash Jasper went to his parents suggesting he change schools to something more fitting the family’s once again wealthy status. His father was pleased with the idea and Jasper threw himself into it, terrified that if he didn’t live up to that potential he was going to suffer badly for it
He couldn’t keep his focus though, as he reached his pre-teens the magic in his blood was developing and throwing his body and mind into an unstable state. This was something the family was looking forward to, his sister having already shown her own talents and his mother’s skill with nature-based magic being so strong; they eagerly awaited his to report to the Coven and perhaps be welcomed back into it. As his grades took a dive and the school expelled him Jasper’s father went into an intense rage over the fact; breaking his arm in the process. His mother agreed to seek out a private healer instead of having to answer questions at the hospital over the clear past signs of abuse in the scars he carried. Jasper was beside himself with the feeling of betrayal and for the first time he lashed out as well.
Not at his family, no, he simply wanted to get away from everyone at that point. His father had a habit of keeping dogs, massive German Shepherds that were trained to be guards. One his father was very fond of had always been a torment to Jasper, nipping at him and growling, bristling in his presence. When the animal wouldn’t leave him in peace as he hid himself in his bedroom he tried to shove the creature out of the room; not understanding when his frustration sparked that magic for the first time as he roughly grasped the animal. The dog collapsed, gasping and shrieking, to his horror even as he tried to help the animal it died in his hands with muddy blood dripping through his fingers, the thick body of the canine all but sinking in on itself. They found him of course when he screamed, his family, but for once his father was too shocked to punish him.
When the vet claimed that the animal was in a terrible state of decay from the inside and that it had to have been dead for weeks Jasper was reduced to numb terror. Even worse, his mother and sister were just as afraid of him and his father was quick to label him off as some sort of disaster; and suddenly it was Jasper who became the monster instead of the man who had caused them all such misery.
After that Jasper tried, time and again, to reassure his mother and sister that he wasn’t going to hurt them. He was very cautious in what he did, but accidents always happened; the flowers in the garden wilted when he sat under the tree where they grew, his own books would brittle and fall apart in his hands when he read them, seemingly anything he came into contact for too long would eventually decay. He grew wary of contact with people, and his family grew just as uneasy around him. His father saw possibilities though and urged Jasper to cultivate his powers, even searched out an obscure source in the city to help him do so.
It was the only gift his father ever really gave him; under the watchful eye of a stranger Jasper learned some degree of control, at least enough that he thought he wasn’t dangerous to those around him. But it was a bitter gift; he quickly found out his father wanted him to harness his powers in order to use them against his own gambling debits and people who owed him money.
Horrified with the thought, Jasper refused outright, defying his father for the first time. Something strange had happened though; where he once had been afraid to even speak he discovered that his father stepped back, angry but more uncertain of the strange power in his son’s chilly touch. It was an incredible victory; Jasper finally could breathe. But it carried a price; his mother turned a pained eye towards him and he realized why; she saw him turning into the sort of person his father was. He wasn’t, there were miles of difference between the two of them but all she saw was the decay in her son, the things she could not understand.
Heartsick over it, Jasper offered to leave; just short of his eighteenth birthday he was set to graduate high school and he thought if he went away for a while maybe the tensions would settle. There were murmurs among the Coven, those who had entirely turned their back on his family because of him, finally done with them after the gruesome nature of that magic, certain it was a sign of some plague upon their line, already there were hushed comments about something heavy in the air. It stirred paranoia in Jasper and he sought out refuge in a place that was considered safe; Folie a deux.
With his quiet nature and seemingly harmless presence it didn’t take him long to gain a Sponsor or to fade into the background of the place. Before long, in spite of his young age, Jasper was left mostly unattended, the most looming secrets in his past were the treatment he suffered so he was a light risk at best. In a little more than six months he was granted more freedom and a chance to live as he wished, as a resident. In truth part of it was because no Sponsor really wanted to be stuck with him, his magic was off-putting, his presence eerie, and maybe he did slip through the cracks somewhat. But it gave him a little over ten years of what he had longed for; peace. Even with that time spent in the town so few grew to know him, so the confusion was abounding when something in him snapped.
It was a night Jasper still feels in his bones, a terrible one, and one that is buried in his thoughts always now. The attack, the vile thing he did; he never had a chance to explain himself but guilt was so heavy in him over it that he never even tried. He counted himself lucky to even be allowed to stay at all and knows now that many in town see him as a monster because they saw what his magic could do, what he could do if pushed too far. With so much lost he’s back to starting over and suffering all the more for it; knowing better than anyone just how quickly he will be cast back out into the dangerous world if he can’t find someone whose willing to give him a second chance and vouch for him to stay.

I remember how someone on here once joked about CU singing ‘Popular’ to Krupp like in Wicked... Hmm... a Wicked AU, or a Wizard of Oz AU ? ... Ah heck, why not combine both?
What would I call it to make life easier…. cu oz/wicked au?
(Also, I tried to present optional possibilities for both the Egg Casserole fans and the Kruppants fans in the Wicked section. Mainly because I’m very aware just how popular the ElphabaxGlinda ship is and I want to offer that possibility to those who will take over their parts too).
George and Harold: Both share the role of Dorothy. I’d imagine they came from either an 1930’s or 1990’s era Piqua when a tornado suddenly took them to a land beyond the rainbow. As strange and fun as Oz is, they know that they need to get back home as soon as possible... especially considering the fact Heidi hid with them during the storm. Instead of ruby slippers, they end up with a pair of bands that contain powerful magic.
Heidi: Ended up with the role of Toto and carries a dog plushie with her to symbolize that. Both George and Harold (but especially Harold) are protective of her when things get out of hand, but she’s also a lot tougher than she looks.
CU: Glinda–oh come on, you knew where this was going. He helps the boys and Heidi out, but he can’t join them because he has other matters to attend to, though that won’t stop him from helping however he can... just don’t trust him to give you proper directions on where you need to go. Also three words: Sparkly cape and underpants. You’re welcome.
Krupp: The Wicked Witch.... yup, I forced him into an antagonist’s role yet again. On one hand it’s because he has to be and because it’s funny. On the other it makes sense when... well, I’ll elaborate more on the Wicked portion of the AU.
???: The scarecrow. Note that revealing the identity of who I chose for the role will spoil a major story element from Wicked. If you don’t want the musical to be spoiled, don’t read the Wicked AU section down below. if you are ok with learning about the spoiler, you can click the keep reading link down below.
Kipper: The Tin Man. I know it’s an odd choice, but he always had that key and he’s someone who could learn to grow a heart. Otherwise I’d be open to Melvin in this role instead. My reason for this choice also ties to how the Wicked section comes into play.
Tommy: The cowardly lion. Ah come on, you know how that kid acts when he sees Krupp and he seems right for the role. He could get braver the longer he’s with the little group.
Melvin: The lead flying monkey (or, as Wicked fans might recall, Chistery). Or else he’d invent a flying machine that has that name. His family is in service to Krupp due to something he did for them in the past. I wouldn’t mind if someone thinks Kipper would be a better fit for this role instead, but I have my reasons.
Poopypants: The wizard. Yup, I had to go there. He just seems like a good fit.
Ok, so how does the Wicked storyline tie into the Oz AU? Click the keep reading tab for how certain roles get expanded.
Krupp: So I can see him having VERY loose similarities to Elphaba. He might of had a not so easy life due to having the same skin condition she had (and we throw in the fangs and freakish strength for the heck of it because, believe it or not, Elphaba actually HAD sharp teeth when she was an infant in the book, so this could work) OR alternatively he looks normal until his negative emotions get the best of him and changes his appearance (like what happened to the Witch in Once upon a Time) OR neither one–his temper always got in the way and he wasn’t good with making friends. In this AU’s equivalent of Shiz, he was working on getting his Masters in Education, but him having magic also caught the interest of a few staff members who wanted him to develop his powers and work for the Wizard one day. There was a time where, despite having a quick temper and being hasty, he genuinely wanted to teach kids and be someone who could be there for them when it seemed that others would not. A discovery of a plot by the Wizard lead to him being framed as a villain, forcing him to be on the run. A series of events and misunderstandings would gradually harden his heart and he’d allow himself to embrace what everyone made him out to be. (Also, I REALLY want to hear Ed Helms sing Defying Gravity right now.)
CU: Would be Glinda for obvious reasons, but much nicer and a bit more ditzier even at the very beginning. About the same age as Krupp, but it took him longer to get to the University because he’s not very book smart. CU is more interested in magic than Krupp is at first, but wants to use such powers to help those who aren’t as fortunate. He gets on Krupp’s nerves and his a lot more popular than him, but an act of kindness brought them together and for awhile they were genuinely good friends who helped support each other. (If you wanted to go the Kruppants route, they harbored feelings for each other, but CU was more open about it). Unfortunately upon also discovering the plot of the Wizard, CU chose to stay behind instead of go with Krupp to see if he could undo the damage and clear his friend’s name. Upon graduating, he began to work solo to fulfill his own goals, though the Wizard and his minions have been keeping a close eye on him. He keeps Krupp from taking the bands from the boys because he was afraid of what would happen if Krupp had too much power, but he failed to realize what the Wizard would force the boys to do until it was almost too late.
Jasper: Nessarose, of course, but he doesn’t have either of the birth defects she has in the book or musical. He was in Shiz University for about a year or two when Krupp was getting his Masters and by this point he met his future wife. Because of his kind nature/ being born normal, he was more well loved in his family than Krupp was, though he idolized his brother and refused to believe that he was as evil as he was made out to be. Unfortunately, there was a tragic incident that would end the brotherly love. Many years after Krupp was declared a villain, he came back to his brother for help to try to end the Wizard’s reign. While it was a heartfelt reunion at first, Kipper (whose his usual spoiled, not-so-pleasant self at the time) came upon his uncle’s spell book and decided to mess around with it, and as a consequence accidentally casted a spell on himself that turned him into a metallic being. Krupp was unable to undo the spell before Kipper ran away and his brother threw him out in anger. There was never a chance to reconnect and Jasper was too angry to give Krupp the bands that could have aided him.
Edith: Fiyero, except maybe she’s a tad closer to the book version, but still a member of the main ruling family of the west. THIS was why I didn’t want to reveal the identity of the scarecrow at first. I estimate that she’s about 10-15 years younger than Krupp, so when she was invited to Shiz University for a few weeks (her family had ties to the school, since they want to send future rulers to the best schools) she was between ages 10 to 15 when she met Krupp, who was encouraged to tutor her to boost his resume. She wasn’t as book smart as her family, but the two developed an unlikely friendship, especially since she saw past his exterior. They’d meet again many years later when Edith was forced into an engagement with one of the Wizard’s minions, which neither her or her family wanted since they were against him, but they had no choice if they wanted to keep his control away from the west. (Yeah, so she’s not engaged to CU like in the musical because I doubt the circumstances would have been the same). Krupp was able to get her out of it in exchange for her family’s aid and while the two were surprised to see each other again, their old friendship resumed once more (and, if you want to go the Egg Casserole route, it of course grew into something much more than what either of them were ready for). Sadly, in an attempt to protect Krupp, Edith was captured by the Wizard’s guards when her family was overthrown. Their torture left her with burn scars on her hands, no memories of her life, and an extreme phobia of fire for reasons she can’t understand. She’d eventually come across a group of children just trying to get home and would join them in hopes of recovering her own memories. Unfortunately, Krupp was left with the idea that she had been killed and it was one of the final turning points to make him embrace the evil person everyone made him out to be.
Ribble: She seems perfect for Madam Morrible, though with less of the fake motherly-ness. She was the one who kept an eye on both Krupp and CU (and didn’t really expect much out of CU due to his seemingly idiotic nature) at the University and let the Wizard know about them.
Poopypants: Ok, so I said he’d be the Wizard, but unlike the musical, he’s NOT Krupp’s biological dad (Oh dear lord would that be odd. Though, if you want the green skin route, Krupp’s mom could have agreed to an experimentation for some extra money that involving drinking the miracle elixir). He wants to go through with his plan to annihilate laughter and/or make a ray that’ll make children prone to becoming violent to keep people from knowing that he’s not actually magical... as well as what his real name is, because you KNOW that wouldn’t be good for a ruler. When Krupp destroys everything, he opts to frame Krupp as someone out to ruin him and take over Oz with evil intentions to keep that attention on something else.
Anyway, it was something I did just for fun. As usual, I don’t mind sharing ideas with anyone else who is interested (though knowing me, I’d be more into developing the version that has Egg Casserole in it. I can do my best with the Kruppants one, even if I’m not a huge fan of it myself).
