i'd like add more based on personal experience. basically, jace kill the pirates but lets assume that the local rakyat didnt know that and they assume some ghost or angry spirit kill them. in order to 'calm the spirit down', they perform some praying and stuff, not with religion but u get my point, cook high grade local cuisine, and making altar with flowers, and stuff. one night, after long battle of taking back outpost, jason take same route and recognize the offering and stuff and just eat them bcs hes hungry. by the time he went back to a village, he ask "hey whys theres offering on the jungle?" and they said "havent you heard? theres angry spirit there and kill those pirates!", jason remembering what exactly happen just "ooohh..shi—"" "the offering is meant to calm him down, to not kill us also, so dont try to eat it!"
and jason shut his mouth and never tell the truth. i mean, who doesnt want free delicious food, more delicious than he used to eat in village, right?
and for safety reason, if you visit indonesia (idk about other SEA countries) and found this kind of offering on jungle, mountain, forest, beach, wherever, DO NOT eat or move it. ive seen batshit crazy to whoever try to bother, eat, or even move that.
i need you all to understand that in Indonesia (and I'm guessing other parts of the southeast asia), a local belief is that if you randomly smell flowers like jasmines it means there's a spirit nearby. and in fc3 gameplay you get to pick up jasmines for the untouchable syringe that causes temporary immunity. anyway just imagine the pirates chilling at an outpost then randomly smelling jasmines and get spooked-- then this pale slenderman looking ass of a man who you're sure your boss already killed and dumped under a mass of corpses show up? Then you panic and shoot at him and it does NOTHING? 13 dead all shitting bricks.
