CM ANNOUNCES HUGE FUNDS FOR NEW PROJECTS
LAHORE, March 12:
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved huge funds for new projects in various districts of the province to provide better facilities to the masses.
In this regard, the cabinet standing committee for finance and development met here under the chair of Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht and approved funds for various projects.
According to details, the meeting decided to expand the scope of Rehmat-ul-Lil Alameen (PBUH) Scholarships to colleges and universities and approved the release of Rs. 477 million in the current fiscal year for the students. During the next financial year, the scholarship amount will be increased to Rs. 834 million. Meanwhile, the meeting decided to gradually construct rainwater storage tanks in Lahore at ten different points and approved in-principle to construct water storage facilities at Kashmir Road, Sheranwala Gate and nearby Qaddafi Stadium with an amount of Rs. 1.85 billion.
Similarly, the meeting approved the immediate release of Rs.2 billion for roads' repair in different districts. Alongside, Rs.180 million was approved for BS Block in Government Girls Degree College Samanabad and the provision of Rs.500 million was also approved for the construction of different blocks in newly approved Emerson University Multan.
The meeting approved the recruitment of sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors, head constables and constables against 565 vacant posts in Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Rajanpur and DG Khan. The upgradation of Kharar Buzdar basic health unit to rural health centres was approved in DG Khan. The meeting also approved Rs.50 million grants-in-aid for division public school DG Khan. The meeting also confirmed Rs.68 million for four new police stations and as many check posts of border military police DG Khan.
The meeting further approved Rs.125 million for the promotion of tourism in historic Nandana Fort in PD Khan Tehsil of Jhelum. Another Rs.60 million was recommended for tourism purposes in Kohuta, Khewra and Patriata. Similarly, Rs.34 million was approved for the provision of water in Gurdwara Panja Sahab in Hassan Abdaal.

CM CHAIRS MEETING OF CABINET COMMITTEE FOR THE ERADICATION OF CORONA TO TAKE IMPORTANT DECISIONS
LAHORE, March 12:
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired the meeting of the cabinet committee for the eradication of corona and expressed concern over the increase in the number of patients in Lahore and other districts.
It decided to take steps for securing the lives of the common man in cities with a more than five per cent positive corona test ratio.
The meeting resolved to ban sports activities, jashan-e-baharan and public meetings in Lahore and particular cities for two weeks. Similarly, holding marriage ceremonies in marquees and marriage halls will be banned for two weeks. It was further decided to close markets after Maghrib while milk and yoghurt shops, medical stores and tandoors will be exempted from this prohibition. According to the decision, only takeaways will be allowed from restaurants and the meeting further approved to close down shrines and cinema halls for two weeks. Meanwhile, parks will be shut down at 6 pm. Half the staff will work from home and the rest of the officials will be allowed to perform duties in the offices, the meeting settled. The meeting chose to limit the number of passengers in public transport especially the metro bus service and orange line metro train according to the SOPs.
These arrangements will apply to cities with more than five per cent corona positive test rate from Sunday and will remain enforced for the next two weeks. The primary & secondary health department will issue a notification in this regard.
The CM maintained that corona positive cases were being increased adding that every possible step will be taken as public health is most important. The decisions have been taken in the larger public interest and more steps can also be taken after a review of the situation, he maintained.
Secretary primary & secondary health briefed that 1632 new cases were reported and 36 others died of the corona during the last 24 hours and this number was also reported on June 24, 2020. The number of patients is increased and children are also being affected while the ratio of the positive test has increased to 8 per cent in Lahore. It was further briefed that more than one lac health workers have been vaccinated and elderly citizens are also being vaccinated.
Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, chief secretary, IG Police, SMBR, ACS (Home), administrative secretaries, Lahore commissioner, medical experts attended the meeting while high-level military officials and commissioners participated through video link.

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has said the people have rejected the negative politics of opposition.
In a statement, the CM said the PDM is badly exposed as it has disappointed the people on every issue. Meanwhile, those opposing the transparent election have been exposed through a video and 220 million people have also been fully aware of the duality of the opposition, he added. The negative attitude of the opposition has become a part of history while PDM is facing disintegration, he said.
The CM regretted that the opposition damaged the national interest for the sake of protecting its personal stakes. In a nutshell, the CM said the opposition is practically a non-entity adding that it tried to politicise issues of national importance. Usman Buzdar regretted that opposition always played a negative role while creating hue and cry from the day first. Those making tall claims before the masses have been exposed as the opposition has no strategy nor have they done anything for the masses, he added.
On the other side, the CM emphasised that PTI understands the pain of the poor and needy strata and time has also proved that timely decisions have been taken by the PTI government. The positive results are yielding in the shape of positive economic conditions, concluded the CM.
