I stumbled as Jarek let me go roughly and I steady myself looking around. The house is large, and I’m not sure what court we’re in. I search for a window to get a clue, any clue at all but they’re all covered with thick drapery.
The foyer we stand in has dim lighting, everything is dark maroons, grays and blacks. Heavy chandeliers hang above, adorned with red crystals. There’s a large staircase in the middle directly across from a large set of doors, a corridor on each side.
“Welcome home,” Jarek breathes close to my ear and I jump, not realizing he had gotten so close to me.
“This is not my home,” I nap, taking a step away from him, reaching for my dagger only to find its sheath empty. Jarek’s laugh echoed around me.
“Did you think I would be dumb enough to leave any weapons on you?” He cocks an eyebrow at me, lifting his hand and twirling the dagger around. I don’t know when or how he got it but I fight to bare my teeth at him. That dagger had been a gift from Azriel on our 70th anniversary. “Your powers won’t work here either, girl. I’ve had a powerful ward placed on this house. Only my powers work here.”
I tried to reach out for Az, to let him know I’m unharmed but there was nothing there. I freeze, stomach twisting painfully. I couldn’t find our bond.
“Oh, yeah,” Jarek grins, “you won’t be reaching your mate here either. After all, how could I take you as mine while you’re connected to another? That simply wouldn’t do. Now, my servant will take you to your room. Get you cleaned up and out of those hideous clothes. You are to be down for dinner within the hour.”
A girl appears then. Dressed in a long maroon servants dress, black apron tied to her front. Her golden skin reminded me of those from summer court, her eyes were almost black and her dark, curly hair was pinned up at the nape of her neck.
She gestures for me to follow her and I approach.
“What is your name, dear?” I ask softly, her eyes widen as if shocked that I’ve spoken to her.
“She cannot speak so don’t try. Her tongue was removed when she was caught stealing,” Jarek speaks, voice dismissive. I raise my chin in anger.
“I would like to know her name,” I responded defiantly, this poor girl.
Jarek rolls his eyes to look at me. Watching silently for a moment before sighing—realizing I wasn’t going to let it go.
“Gianna.” He spits it out as if he hates to say it. I turned back to the girl, her dark eyes glossy, when was the last time she heard someone speak her name? And for it to be said with such hatred?
“Come, Gianna, I will follow you now,” I speak to her, kind and soft. I can see her gratitude, and can tell she wants to say something but she can’t. I give her a reassuring smile before gesturing for her to lead the way.
I hear Jarek scoff behind us but I ignore him, vowing that when I get out of here Gianna will be coming with me. She will make a wonderful addition to Velaris.
We go up the stairs, then down a long hall that twists and turns all different ways. We finally come to a stop, Gianna opens the door and I step inside.
I watch as she sets to work bustling around the room, lighting the fireplace, fluffing pillows before heading to the adjoining bathroom. I hear the water and smell the bath salts. I sigh, shaking my head before heading that way. There is a dress hanging to the left of the bathroom and I want to rip it to shreds. I undress without a bother before sliding into the bath.
Gianna retrieves my clothes but I gesture for her to come over.
“Where are we?” I whisper, barely heard over the running water of the bath. Her eyes widen slightly before looking behind her. “Blink once for yes, twice for no, okay?” I ask, just as quietly.
She gives me a small head nod and I’m relieved.
“Night Court?” Two blinks.
“Day? Dawn?” Two blinks.
“Winter? Summer?” Two blinks again. Fuck we’re far from home.
“Autumn?” One blink from wide eyes.
“Did you know my sister? Did you know Sarah?” I ask—one blink.
“Did he hurt her?” Dark eyes filling with was the only answer I needed. One blink. I take a deep breath, letting it out slowly.
“Thank you, Gianna,” I whisper, letting her pull away. I see her quickly wipe her eyes before leaving the room, closing the heavy wooden door behind her.
He’s dead. That’s all you can think. Jarek will die. The bastard. To take her sister, harm her, all because of some stupid pettiness. How could he? How could he think I would ever want to be with him?
I need to play along. I need to play along long enough to get him to trust me and then I’ll kill him. Slit his throat. Rip his heart from his chest. Stab his eyeballs. Chop his dick off.
I slip under the water. Letting the warmth surround me. I want to go home. I want my sister. I want to know the name of the little boy who clung to her. I want Azriel. I want my family.
Only when my lungs scream for air do I come back out. I’m angry. I feel my body shaking with it once again. I hate him. I hate him with every fiber of my being.
I let myself be angry. As I wash my hair, bath myself, dress myself. I loathe my reflection in the mirror. I knew why he picked this dress and I hated him even more for it. I do my own hair and make up. I slap on the jewelry that isn't my style at all along with the shoes previously laid out.
I search for the bond again, knowing it’s hopeless but needing to try anyway. Nothing. Damn him.
I approach the bedroom door. Sighing. Relaxing into myself. Play the part. Earn his trust. Make him believe you want him. Then kill him. It’ll take time but I can do this. I leave the room, heading down the corridor. I’m not really sure where I’m going but eventually I find my way back to the staircase.
He’s there, waiting. He takes notice of me, dull eyes darkening, jaw clenching. When I reach him I offer my hand. He seems surprised and I roll my eyes. Gesturing for him to take my hand.
“Lead the way,” I breathe and I feel something tingly in that spot on my arm. The spot he marked me with. I keep my mental shields up. I will not allow him to communicate with me in any way through that bond. He is not my mate. He is not my High Lord or Lady. He is not a high lord at all. He is no one. Nothing.
I have to keep myself from snarling as he speaks, leading me down the corridor to the right of the stairs.
“You look stunning. Exactly like the night of our first date,” He says, looking over at me as we enter the dining room.
I give him a look of feigned surprise. “You remember that night?”
“Of course I do, it was the start of the best three years of my life, before you met him,” He seethed, hand gripping mine hard enough I thought it would break.
I yelped in pain, jerking my hand away.
“My apologies, I still get quite upset over losing you,” He says, leading you to sit at the table. He sits at the head to your left, pours you a glass of wine and you smile tightly in return.
“We have much to discuss, (Y/N),” Jarek starts pouring himself a glass.
You take a sip of your wine, smirking into the red liquid.
Let the games begin.

The variety of descriptions of the devil is something rather peculiar to Polish, German and Estonian trial records. Devils are variously described as German, French or Polish, and within that typology, we have Polish devils who are of aristocratic or peasant origin. The descriptions are mainly concerned with the devils’ style of dress. The most frequent names for devils, according to a collection of trials from Grodzisk, were Jasiek, Jan, and Kuba, followed by Woytech. (...) Hanykowa’s Kuba was dressed fashionably in the German style. (...) In another case, Anna Stelmaszka’s devil was described as pokuśnika po Niemiecku w czerwonej barwie, ‘a temptor in the German style in dressed in red’.
(...) There was also mention of Polish devils, and one may assume that if nationality is not mentioned, then the devil is in fact Polish. Stach, a devil in the Polish style, dressed in green, was neither old nor young, and one of his compatriots, Barbara Konieczna’s devil was dressed as a Polish peasant. Another witch confessed to having a devil named Kuba who was described as dressing in the French style. According to one witch, following her third session of torture, her devil was described as po żydowsku, ‘in the Jewish style’. It was common for devils to be described as dressing in black, green or red, such as a devil named Jarek, who wore green hose, a red hat and black boots. Małgorzata Kupidarzyna’s Jasiek was młody w sukni zielonej i żółtych botach, czapka barankowa, ‘young, in green dress and yellow boots, a lamb fleece hat’.

Ask Game Q’s for Annika!
🏀 Does your OC have any skills that people wouldn’t expect them to have? Do they have a hobby or pass time that others would consider strange or weird? How did they learn this particular skill or pick up this hobby?
🥊 Does your OC prefer to take the lead or follow orders? With everyone or just with certain people? Is there a reason for this?
🌊 What does your OC do on their days off from working, school or whatever else it is they may do? Do they enjoy relaxing, shopping, hanging out with friends? What is a normal day like for them?
From this ask game.
🏀It’s not necessarily strange, but she is basically a musical genius.  Ever since she was little and had her first music lesson, she would use music to retreat from the stress and loneliness of being a royal child.
🥊 Annika is a leader; she was taught from a young age how to lead effectively too. If anything, she comes off as too bossy. She does have some deep insecurities that were only made worse when her father was dethroned, however, and starts slowly learning to trust Jarek and eventually Dasa as she learns she doesn’t know everything, and she can’t do it all.
🌊 Oooh, off time…. Yeah, Annika is a typical teenager and she has an overbearing parent…. She sneaks out, A LOT… she loves just walking through the marketplaces and taking in the sights, smells and flavors of life in the capitol. This little past time of hers has gotten 3 guards before Jarek fired.

Tumblr media
Kora's POV
I place the first aid kit in the table beside him, "shirt off, I gotta see how bad they are." I sit down in front of him, half expecting him to just leave, but he doesn't. He huffed and takes his shirt off showing toned and muscled chest and stomach, it wasn't as bad as I thought. I dabbed peroxide on a cotton ball and cleaned the wounds and blood up.
I wasn't expecting to have a 6 foot man in my house, I cringe at the blood he smeared on the couch. Oh well, at least it's old and leather. "Tsk, why the fuck did you drag me here human?" He asks, his cream colored black tipped tail flicks showing his annoyance. "Maybe because you were getting your ass kicked on my lawn. Humans are so selfish and racist. It's Kora by the way." I shout back from the bathroom, the poor man had blood soaking his shirt and face, he was definitely gonna have bruises that lasted more than a week. "Whatever bitch. What are you even doing anyways?" He quirks, wow this man was a fiesty one. "If your gonna call me a bitch at least pull my hair and spank me. What I'm gonna do is fix your wounds and put that shoulder back in place."
He took his shirt off, showing me that the wounds werent so bad as they looked. I cleaned the wound with peroxide and cotton balls. After that I put my hands on his shoulder, "this is gonna hurt, I'm sorry." I shove the socket back into the blade and all I get from him is a hiss of pain.
"So how do you want me to pay you back?" His question surprised me. I laughed at it, "Nothing, but if you need a place to stay you can, If you feel like you owe me then I'll just as for help moving big furniture or at my store." I get up and put the first aid kit back, "I'm not some pet for you to oggle human." His ears were to the side, and he didn't look to happy. "Who said you were a pet dumbass? You want to pay me back, then that's how. I only offer a room cause it's clear you don't have a place to go." I snap back, heading to the kichean to make dinner. I could feel him seething but he didn't answer me, but the chair squeaking on the floor did.
I made salmon and ramen with eggs, and slid a bowl with chopsticks in front of him. I sat down across from the man and began eating myself. "Can I at least know your name?" I questioned, "Jarek." was my only response.
After we both finish, I grab our dishes an wash them. "Let me show you the room you'll be staying in." I beckon him to follow and he does. I stop at the green door, open it and move out the way so he can come in. "You have a private bathroom, and tomorrow we'll go get you some new clothes." I turn towards my door that's 2 down, "if you need me just holler or knock." I walk into my room and and lea against the door. Eventually I hear his door close and my body relaxes.
I got ready for bed and tried to sleep. After a few hours of tossing and turning, I couldn't help it, I was turned on by Jarek, ofc I wasn't gonna tell him that. So, I grabbed my vib and toy to relax my ache. Hoping to God Jarek couldn't hear.
Jarek's POV
I didn't get why that little human was being friendly, it was weird..but she did cook really good and the room was nice, especially the bed.
Jarek was too high on alert to sleep, and it didn't help that with his hearing, he could hear little human being promiscuous. He felt himself stiffen, and sighed at himself, hating that he was turned on by it.
Eventually the little one stopped, more then likely finding the high she was chasing and it wore her out. Finally, Jarek was able to get some sleep. He'll deal with his raging cock later.
Morning ♡
Jarek woke to the smell of pancakes, he couldn't remember the last time he had them. He stalked to the kitchen, Jarek smelled the remnants of pleasure that stuck to his little human. He wanted to taste it, but refrained from it.
She was dressed in shorts and a sports bra, her hair wet, mustve taken a shower. "Smells good for a human cooking." Jarek sat in the seat he did last night and 3 pancakes were put in front of him. He wouldn't ever admit it, but she was amazing at cookin. "Well im glad you like it, I know a demi friendly store we can go to for some new clothes. Then we gotta go open up my store." She said to her food, she was nervous around him. He loved it.
"Yea yea, just don't be tryna say I'm your pet or sum shit." Jarek put his plate in the sink, and sat back down. "If anyone asks, your my roommate and new hire." She chirps, throwing a discarded shirt on an grabbed some keys. They both walked out of the house and got into her car. It was nice, solid black with dark green leather seats. Jarek adjusted the seat to his liking and their little journey began. "Ok, so here's my card, don't go too crazy but get what you need. Imma go do store owner duties and come back to pick you up." She pulls up to a store, the sign saying demi humans welcomed in all black. "Alright. See you later then." Jarek gets out the car and reaches in to get the card.
He watches the car drive off and he goes into the store.
Kora's POV
She liked this softer side of Jarek, definitely not the softest, but at least he wasn't calling her a bitch. She pulled up to her pride and joy, Lavender Layers, a bakery she's gained ownership of when her parents passed. She noticed two cars parked in the back, must be her two employees, Viva and Chancellor. As she got out at walked to the back of the door, she guide was right cause the two demi humans got out of their cars and joined her. "Hey boys! How yall. Ready to fill some orders to day?" Kora smiled, the two men agreeing. "Oh, we have a new hire, he's my roommate too, so don't be too hard on him..he's had a rough past."
The men hummed in acknowledgement, they didn't speak a lot either, I hired them the day they got out of prison. I had their backs and they had mine.
Kora let the men get to their daily duties and she went to order jarek a few store shirts and a cap that'd fit his cat ears. A knock on the office door startled her, and as it opened she was given a coffee. "Thank you Viva, your husband's coffee is the best." She took several sips enjoying the honey hazelnut coffee. With the clothes ordered, Kora went to the front to unlock the door, and to help finish baking her mothers favorite desserts.
A few customers human and demi alike to enjoy Sweets. The door opened and jarek stalked in. "Oh hey! You find everything you need?" She smiled, and went to the side to let him in the back of the store. "Yea I found it all. You didn't tell you owned Lavender. I loved this place as a kid." Jarek looked around, tail swishing with curiosity. "My mom and step dad owned this place, I got it once they passed. Here's our coworkers, Chancellor and Viva. They don't talk much but their great." She started showing Jarek everything that he'll start learning the next couple days while the boys took care of the line out front. "I also ordered you some shirts for the store and a cap. If I'm not around, the boys will be able to show you. And-" glass breaking stopped Kora mid sentence.
The pair went up front to see Viva helping a lady with two kids clean up a broken mug, the poor lady was apologizing profusely. "Ma'am it's perfectly okay, we all break things sometimes. Trust me we have more mugs." Viva says and goes back to remake her drink.
That's all I'm writing for today guys, works got me a Lil beat 😮‍💨😅 love yall! I hope I get to wrote more on these little love birds.

I have been thinking of a Skyrim fanfic that's I'm too lazy to write.
The LDB becomes the last boss for the modded followers to take down. Holy crap that would be good.
Damn, this is going to be mmorpg style fight.
Xelzaz (magic dmgdealer, buff provider)
Kaidan, Gore, Nebarra: (Tank)
Inigo, Lucifer, Khash: (ranged melee dmgdealer)
Taliesin: (pure magic dmgdealer)
Caryalind: (melee dmgdealer)
Remiel/scrap: (melee dmgdealer)
Jarek: (magic dmgdealer)
Xanthys: (Magic dmgdealer)
Lucien: (Magic dmg dealer)
The reason why LDB becomes last boss...?
Hell, idk, maybe madness? Become megalomaniac like Alduin?
How epic would it be if Paarthurnax is the one who give this quest to the dovahkrew? Knowing that the LDB has to be stopped.

TARGET: Jarek Malin OOC INFO: Once a wealthy genasi merchant known for dealing in cursed artifacts. Jarek sold his soul for a wish to amass his fortune and has retired to the countryside, living a mundane and ordinary life. LOCATION: Silverlands, Lysara WORD COUNT: 2,958
a raven drops an iron coin for you to pick up...
The state of Hestia's Cove was nothing to envy. The reconstruction had been slow, if only because of the reinforcement from Eterna, and the presence of the Kossith so close to the border. The entire bit of Eastreach was under a quiet veil of stress. No one wished to ruin the subtle and seemingly gentle peace that was attempting to be held. Zagreus had done what he could, speaking to his niece who would perhaps take on the mantle of the new Lady Veridian. After all, he was a druid – far removed, now, by a few decades yet still involved whenever he decided to come home.
Home was a strange word for Zagreus, as it was. This place was once his mecca, one of those things where he could manipulate the party, bring those in that he wanted, take what he wanted – until the Arches pulled and pulled. They also took away parts of him that he wasn't sure he would ever get back. Faced with a dimmer reality, Zagreus had to hope that charm that came with nobility would help shine a light where there no longer was one. But he was versatile, always on the hunt for knowledge, and this would be one of those moments. The pattern always brought them back to a few moments in their life that they could count on, that they could remember – and for Zagreus, perhaps he'd been waiting a little too long for one such as this.
Ravens were not an unusual sight, but when this one came, the genasi was mid book. The sun was shining in Hestia's Cove, the tome that he held in his hands one old and dusty from the Veridian library. He looked up as the raven dropped the coin, his gaze never leaving the twirling metal before it finally landed flat on the desk. The name was there, clear as day, and the genasi reached forward to pick it up and examine it.
Druids were few and far between, it seemed, as well as the genasi that permeated their ranks. Zagreus was of course one of those, and it was another moment in his life where he knew it was a subtle...well, test. Granted, he'd clawed his way up that mountain one time, and he'd gone through the training, unable to remain a True Neutral like the Dúnedain have always preached. Wasn't that what got them all killed in the first place? A neutrality as they were hunted down, until finally they were able to come back again. Souls were never wasted, and a Dúnedain's was always dragged back to the land they came from.
The Silverlands was where his target supposedly remained, the little network of information easy to follow amongst those who would talk for a little bit of coin. Luckily, money talked loud enough for Zagreus – and he had an abundance of it. To bring out the easy, debauched feelings of those that had a little too much wine – to manipulate with the charismatic twist of words and a little spell here or there – the genasi would simply disappear into the background when he got the information he needed.
Hidden Ones were always meant to live in the Shadows, Zagreus was simply glad his always never failed to follow him even when he remained as bright as could be in the eyes of – well, those that had looked to the Veridians for protection. Even now, the genasi's eyes flashed as the man continued to drink the wine that he'd offered. The black market was known in Eastreach, if one knew exactly where to look. Cursed artifacts seemed to leave behind broken hearts, and broken souls – doomed to either outsmart what curse befell them, or fall victim to it themselves. Zagreus was used to these cursed things; it was perhaps a good study when he was bored, and the family of witches he'd come from always had a knack for gossiping about them at the Tower.
The final piece of his puzzle came from the slurred mouth of another witch, one who frequented the black market, ran in to some kids that sounded more like bullies – Zagreus was already a fan. And he didn't even like kids.
The cursed talisman of Mercury; a very bold, and very favored amongst thieves – acquired by Jarek and sent on its way to a very wealthy Lord in Astoria. Then the story had a few ways of going, none that ended favorably for the Lord, and Zagreus was well on his way to the place that was spelled out for him: the Silverlands.
A vast place in itself, it'd been too long, maybe, since Zagreus had found himself there. The feywilds were exciting, the genasi had also learned Elvhen long ago, but Lórien'dal was its own architectural feat – the Elvhen were good company, but the genasi hardly ever stayed. Jarek wouldn't want to be found; Zag could imagine the other having finally kicked up his feet, the wealth that he amassed "seemingly from nowhere" carrying him as far as he wished to go.
The coin in Zagreus' pocket told another story.
The Hidden Ones were always meant to stop a chain of events from occurring, happening at the most opportune moment, the point where the pattern broke off could end in a few ways. Jarek was living a mundane life, but maybe there was more to the story. Did one truly feel like they'd amassed enough wealth to end their journey? No, but Zagreus wasn't exactly an old druid, and now his lifespan had doubled. He knew what it was when it came to survival – he'd done it, once. Smuggling was a trick of his own trade; Jarek hadn't been the only one to use connects to send artifacts here and there – Zag had simply traded in money and refugees. But even he hadn't been ready to die; not yet.
Jarek wouldn't be any different.
The Silverlands remained a vast place, full of empty runes that no longer held homes – druidic stones that were perhaps some of the last on the continent. He thought of his old friend, Sakkara – the one that had been the keeper for so long. She was stoic and a little too neutral for him, but he'd kept his pact with the Dark One a secret so far. It wasn't like they had an ongoing list. But he couldn't come across her now; too much to do with too little time.
Zagreus' information on Jarek had been scattered, up and down the paths of the Silverlands an old druid went – never aging, but very wealthy. Perhaps too many didn't know of his true nature, another parallel that Zagreus did not wish to confirm or deny at the moment. Too often he saw those he knew, Froy being one of them, and too often it was easy to pretend he was still amongst them. A druid could not lie, a small fortune granted to them by their Elvhen bloodline, yet still – a druid was a peacekeeper, and Zagreus found so many reasons not to be such.
Jarek's home was difficult to find; the sources of magic hidden well. The creatures and the nature of the forest were mostly creatures of solitude, but magic brought about its own whisper of promise. Jarek's greed would ruin the small section of the Silverlands that he called home. A cropped outlook, one that would allow the genasi's wards to make anyone pause before crossing them. For Zagreus, it was one of those moments where he knew there would be questions. And well, perhaps it was lucky that he had an art about smuggling, it was his own trick of the trade – and that's where he found himself.
The barrier to Jarek's home was one he expected. Magical wards that would tell the genasi within – a circle of the wild genasi – that his home was seen. So, Zagreus waited.
The ripple that his own magic felt gave him enough warning to hold up his own hand, the firebolt sent towards Zagreus absorbed into the genasi's hand. Fire was his favorite, it always had been. "Jarek? You should do well enough to know that you're not the only genasi with a few tricks up his sleeve."
The man that appeared shifted from the bird he'd been moments before – not entirely as disheveled as Zag had imagined, but a noticeable recluse all the same.
"Who are you? And what do you want?"
There was no such thing as loose ends – Zagreus had remained in the crowd to ask subtle questions back in Eastreach; he'd been so good at prompting, waiting for the answers to come to him through loose lips and the vow of debauchery that everyone silently took when they entered through to the tavern. But it was a cardinal rule that if one showed their face – the other had to die. Zagreus knew this one well. He'd gotten his hands bloody many times, this time, though? He was curious. A genasi attempting to live his life in retirement, wait until the Dark One came, and then that would be it. But that wasn't Zagreus' fate. No, he knew someone would come for him eventually – yet he knew he wouldn't go down without a fight. Jarek Malin was going to be no different.
"A Dúnedain, like yourself." Zagreus pulled the fire from his fingertips once more, showing Jarek that he was indeed in control of the elements around him. The genasi did not look impressed, but instead looked ready to banish the other from the ground once more.
"You never should have come here. Didn't they tell you that we're solitary creatures?" Jarek dropped his hands, though he did not move from where he was standing. Suspicion ran clear in the air, and the other could essentially taste it. But there was no clear aggression in Zagreus' gaze, nor in his stance. It was particular of the former noble to stand in such a way; easy gait with an air of promise that there would be something coming ~ no doubt nothing good, but as a genasi, neither were walking that path.
There was silence around the two now. Jarek's control of the wild around them creating a sort of hush. The elements in the air reacted to Zagreus, but there was no need to act upon them just yet. "Jarek Malin, isn't it? My name is Veridian," he put his hands up now, fingers wiggling as a sign that he held nothing in them. "I have a lead on an artifact that I think would be of some...value. Well, who am I fucking kidding – it's rare. But if your smuggling days are over, I can leave. I hear Caribella has plenty of markets for coin."
"This better be worth my while. Or you'll find yourself dinner for the wolves. Your soul will come back again, won't it? So I'm in no rush to believe you." Jarek's smile was borderline friendly, but not enough to let his guard down enough.
"From one to another, let me tell you about the diadem – and maybe you'll find it worth your night, hm?" Zagreus gave another wry smile, content when Jarek seemed to turn to lead him further into the winding forest. The other genasi's magic was palpable, and Zagreus hummed as he thought about how it would've been difficult to wade through himself. No one came to stand upon another genasi's home without falling into the twist and turns of wards, but with Jarek's lead, well, Zagreus was beginning to think this was too easy.
And of course it was.
The Veridian was always prepared when it came to tricks – to challenges that remained hidden; and Jarek was no fool. The other genasi held his hand up as the thorns created a winding cage around Zagreus, large enough for the genasi to move around in, but small enough to prove a palpable threat if he decided to move.
"I was not born yesterday, Veridian. If that is your name. Speak of this diadem, and if it's worth my time, maybe we both can cut a deal from it, yes?" Jarek poured himself a glass from a pitcher, the dark crimson liquid a tease as he sat and put his legs up from his chair.
Zagreus was not a fan of holes in his clothes, he was not a peasant, but the risk seemed worth the reward as he leaned forward to run his finger over one of the abnormally large thorns, "Insult amongst our kind is tolerated, you know, because you're supposed to look the other way and all that." But the Arches had shown Zagreus something different. He wondered what Jarek had seen; if he had seen death come sooner rather than later, and had taken the Dark One's promise for his own gain. A coward, as Zag would remember him. As everyone would remember him when the hidden one left. Solitude meant Zagreus could do this his way, and that's what he would do.
The genasi would test the magic in a little bit, but for now, he focused on the drink in Jarek's hand, "You're not much of a host, are you? Something tells me that you haven't had a friend out here in a while."
"It's not every day that someone can find me, and I'd be a fool to believe every person who stumbled upon me with as much information as you have. Speak of the diadem, or see if you survive against everything I throw at you. It's been a while since I've had some company, willing or unwilling."
Zagreus could appreciate the dramatics, he could appreciate the silly little thorn cage that he found himself in, but he watched Jarek before he simply sat down. "The diadem is supposedly cursed by Hel. A woman it was gifted to said that sometimes, she'd feel this...uncontrollable rage come over her. Like she couldn't fathom why she was angry. And when she'd curse someone, when she'd scream and shout that she hoped the gods dragged them the Hel, creatures would crawl from beneath the ground. You know, skeletons, bodies that were around, attempt to drag the person – literally – straight to Hel. A curious, curious thing. I was sure that it–" He cut off when he saw Jarek leaning forward, caught up in the story he was telling. Zagreus didn't smirk – but it was so hard not to. A cursed object such as this would give anyone a hard time, really, if it meant they wished to do another harm. Iskarans and their toys.
"Well? Where is it? You said you know where it is – what is your price? Speak quickly, or I might just decide your life is worth it."
Zagreus put his hands up again, "If you kill me, you'll never find it. So that's just a risk you'll have to take. Let down the barrier, pass me the wine, and I'll tell you everything you need to know."
Jarek frowned now, though greed had always been his goal. Greed had propelled him forward, through the wealth he'd amassed and the black market connects that had clearly tipped him off. But either way, trust was hard to earn – yet the idea that more wealth was just there, barely out of his reach? The genasi waved his hand as the thorn barrier dispelled, the creatures that had been close by keeping watch disappearing back into the trees.
"Well, that wasn't so hard, was it? Let's have a little drink, and I'll tell you want you want to know."
The hour went by, then another, as Zagreus continued to swirl the glass in his hand as Jarek continued to chat absolute shit. The Veridian's magic had always been a little unorthodox, but when he'd become a genasi, the elements seemed to just bend a little further for him. But there was genuine curiosity from Zagreus. How did one stray so far? Jarek wished to be free – the other and his babblings telling far more of an interesting story than Zagreus could have imagined. There was a job to be done, and he'd never questioned that he'd do it, but a genasi that attempted to retire? Well, Zagreus would have to do far better than this one if he were to ever disappear.
"I did not mean for all of it to happen, but I was good at it, you know?" Jarek finished off his glass of wine, leaning back as his head felt more dizzy than it had before. He'd been speaking for so long that, despite the wine, his mouth continued to feel dry. "This– the diadem – where..." his words were slurred, far more than they had been before. Did he truly have that much wine? He hadn't noticed it before, the fact that his cup never seemed to get anymore empty than it had no matter how much he drank.
"It's far from here, Jarek." Zagreus finished off his own glass now, setting it down gently as he watched the other genasi attempt to call his power forth, knowing exactly what was happening. The poison ran deep, had for an hour now, and Zagreus stood as Jarek began to choke, blood beginning to well in orifices. He'd gotten all the information that he'd wanted, that he'd needed, and this was a story that would die with Jarek. Zagreus placed a coin on Jarek's chest once the genasi had finally fallen to the ground, eyes bloodshot and blank.
"Enjoy your liberation, Jarek."

Eurovision 2004 - Number 35 - Alex - "I'm Still Alive"
youtube
Krajowe Eliminacje, Poland's national final is in its second year in 2004 and it's already got a distinctive flavour as well as a professional approach. TVP favour rockier and more alternative entries and do manage to attract some of Poland's bigger names to compete.
A new face this year is Alex aka Ala aka Alicja Janosz. She won the 2002 Polish edition of the Pop Idol franchise and then went on to be the Polish representative in the one-off World Idol competition. There she sang against Kelly Clarkson and Guy Sebastian. She is no stranger to international singing competitions! By 2004, she's released a successful debut album and is trying to get into Eurovision.
I'm Still Alive is one of the first cases of a national final song being written by a team of Swedes. In this case a group of rockers with a history in Swedish bands including Leif Sundin a man lauded by Jimmy Page but who also wrote songs for Swedish teen band A-Teens. Alex's sound is late 90s/early 00s transatlantic alt-rock with a skater-girl vibe. The song is a vigorous tale of relationship survival from a woman who's careless with her car keys.
This genre of music hasn't been represented so much at Eurovision itself. However it's just past its contemporary peak, it's becoming more popular in national finals, and for Krajowe Eliminacje especially, this just fits right in. It did well - although the competition was strong in 2004, Alex finished fourth of the fifteen songs. Just left out of a tight three-way battle for the win. She later donated the song and it's copyrights to UNHCR for their charity album Voyces United
What followed this seems to have been a disagreement between her and her record label. Apart from appearances at festivals and collaborations with other artists, there was no recorded output from Alex despite her popularity. It wasn't until 2011 and a split from her record label that another Alicija released another album. Four more have followed with the most recent in 2023. The past decade has seen her make up for lost time.
Here she is singing Friend with Jarek Krużołek in 2023.

The autumn air was crisp, a prelude to the coming cold, as Ellie, Leon, and their friends gathered around the warmth of a backyard bonfire. The flames crackled, casting shadows and light over their faces, creating an ambiance ripe for storytelling and shared laughter. It was during moments like these that their group felt closest, the boundaries between the day's worries and the night's relaxation blurring into insignificance.
Ellie, always the de facto planner of the group, was in her element, directing the evening with an enthusiastic, if somewhat authoritative, hand. From organizing the seating arrangement to dictating the playlist, her energy was both infectious and, as Leon knew all too well, a tad bossy.
Leon, her ever-patient partner, followed her directives with a good-natured chuckle, helping to stoke the fire or fetch another round of drinks. His calm demeanor was the perfect counterbalance to Ellie's vibrant intensity, a yin to her yang that had always made their relationship dynamic and engaging.
It wasn't long before Jarek, always the joker of the group, seized an opportunity to tease Ellie about her commanding ways. "Hey, Leon, does Ellie give you marching orders like this at home too?" he quipped, his voice tinged with humor.
The group erupted into laughter, including Leon, who shot Ellie a playful glance. "Oh, you have no idea," he responded, winking at her. "I've got a whole chore list waiting for me when we get back."
Ellie, far from being offended, stuck her tongue out at Jarek. "Someone's got to keep things organized," she retorted, her tone light and unbothered. "Besides, Leon loves my lists. Don't you, babe?"
Leon wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close with a smile. "Absolutely," he agreed, his voice warm. "I wouldn't have it any other way."

Mortal Kombat: Special Forces: Filth below.
Summary: Following Kano’s message, Jax finds himself facing off with another of his best fighters.
Chapter list.
Chapter list part two.
Chapter list part three.
Tasia could live with going down to the sewers for an assignment. Her line of work required her to get rid of apprehensions and lines she wouldn’t cross.
To be an assassin, getting dirty came with the territory. Blood was just the most common form of it.
But in spite of that, Tasia certainly wasn’t enjoying being around the sewers. The stench was sickening, and the only distraction was her current phone call.
“The intel was right, we could probable smuggle some good stuff here, so long as I’m not involved.”
A southern accented voice replied back, Salazar, the clan’s long range assassin.
“Too much muck for your liking?”
“Oh, you’re funny. How’s babysitting?”
“The prisoners ain’t talking. Shouldn’t be surprised. I bet Kano’s got something planned to make them talk,”
Tasia smiled to herself. Kano was a lot of things, but they had a shared passion for violence.
“Keep me updated. Tell Kano I’ll be back soon.” Tasia responded.
The call ended, and Tasia was left sharpening her katana. She almost wished for some mutant to pop out of the sewer water for some excitement.
———
Jax wandered throuigh the sewer tunnel, intent on finding somethng as Gemini gave her two cents.
"I've gotta say, a sewer isn't what I'd call prime criminal base material."
"Well, Kano is full of shit, so this tracks."
Jax was surprised to hear what might have been the sound of Gemini snorting on her coffee.
“You liked that one, huh?”
“Just… get to work, oh my God…”
Jax ended the call, and continued the search through the sewer tunnels. It had only been around fifteen minutes, but he was yet to find anything of substance beyond the occasional rat.
He soon entered into a spacious area, finding a woman dressed in purple and black with a pair of katana strapped to her back. Jax recognised her as Tasia and pulled out his sidearm.
She tossed a katana, which jax dodged and watched as it impaled into the bridge behind him.
"Alright, hands up."
Tasia sighed, seemingly out of relief as she turned around and complied.
"Finally, I was getting bored. Liking the smell?"
"About as much as I like you."
Tasia pursed her lips, but shrugged.
"Guess that's fair, killing puts me in your shit-list?"
"Among other things."
Tasia's face shifted to a devious smirk.
"Good, then I won't feel bad about this."
In a flash of purple light, Tasia vanished. Jax whirled around to block the slice with his gauntlets. Tasia's expression had changed from casual displeasure to something more sadistic as she swung her blades.
"I was worried I wouldn't get to cut anyone open today."
She tossed her blade teleporting again and landing a stab into Jax's shoulder. He groaned in pain, swinging his fist at empty air as she vanished again.
"Aw, did that hurt?"
Jax shot at Tasia's voice as she retreated through the tunnels, never hearing a sound of pain as he chased through the sewers. he soon found a single blade pierced into the floor.
He closed his eyes. Rushing around wouldn't help, he had to play this smart. Whenever Tasia vanished, there always a noise, a flash of light. If he could just catch her off guard...
He turned away, closing his eyes and waiting for the telltale sound.
"Dumb as a bag of rocks."
As soon as he heard the flash, and footsteps running up, Jax whirled around, delivering a ferocious punch to Tasia's cheek. She spun around from the force, stumbling around.
"Dirty trick..."
She collapsed to her back, Jax grabbing her by the neck and forcing her to look at him.
"You're done. Now tell me, where's Kano keeping Sonya?"
Tasia chuckled.
"Hell if I know. I was just sent here for investigation. But, I'll give you a hint. Jarek's holed up in some auto-shop, if you take him down, you'll probably get some details."
Jax kept his gaze steeled.
"Why should I believe you?"
"Maybe you shouldn't. But do you have any other leads?"
Jax didn't admit she was right, he instead pulled out a pair of restraints and stole her katana, to avoid any escapes.
"Gemini, I'm heading out of the sewers. Get in an escort squad, I've got another BD rat."
Tasia complained about being called a rat, but was ignored as Jax followed directions out of the sewers. But as they reached the ladder, Jax offered a bit of advice to Tasia.
"You know, prison has decent showers. So, that's a silver lining."
The pair of them exited the sewers with a shared sense of relief.

Ask game!
18.Who/what comforts your character?
35.Imagine the ideal home for your character. Where would it be located? What type of housing would it be? Who/what would be there?
47. In a group setting, what role would your character have? Leader, co-leader, follower, or outsider?
For character of your choice
Ask Game
Sorry for the wait! As a bonus I'll do all 3 main characters!
18) Annika: the luxuries of royal life are definitely a comfort for her. When that is stripped away though she learns the value of people over materials. Queen Shiavani (her aunt and queen of the Cadmus kingdom), Jarek, Dasa, and Kitam all bring her comfort and support her through some of the worst moments of her life.
Jarek: he's a simple man in this respect, he finds comfort in booze, cigarettes, Kitam- who becomes a mentor to him, and Dasa (when the Drar isn't giving him gray hairs 🤣).
Dasa: even simpler, but extremely bizarre.... his broken glass collection, Jarek, and Annika.
35) Annika: the royal palace of Tallis, of course! But if we had to pick something different, a quaint cottage in the middle of a field of flowers.
Jarek: probably above a tavern he would own. He is a loud extrovert and likes people.
Dasa: probably a cabin in the wood, maybe a few goats. He loves quiet peace.
47) Annika: early on, she's a co leader at best, but she really grows into her own by the end and is absolutely a leader. She sucessfully navigates Tallis through one of its most difficult transition periods in history.
Jarek: very much a leader, in the early chapters he's the only thing holding the team together.
Dasa: well, he's a slave, so he's a follower just on principle. (the ending isn't fully fleshed out yet)

Tehehe I lied, Imma write more on my sweet babies Kora and Jarek <3, just a small note: I haven't given up on my other story of my human x orc, it's just on Haitus.
Jarek's POV
He couldn't believe that his little human was the owner of this store; the one that fed him so many nights on the cold streets. He was happy to know he'd be working here, it was surprising, this feeling; he hadn't felt this in so long.
"Okay guys, I need to go run some errands, so y'all can handle this." Kora said, there was an underlying of question, but Jarek could tell she truly trusted the two other men to handle everything. He followed her to the back of the store, and then to the car. "So you only hire Demi humans or what?" Jarek scoffs, trying to hide his excitement. "I hire people coming back into society after jail and prison. I've known those two men for a few years. One was in prison for beating the hit of a child predator and the other for gang-related activity. No, I won't tell you which." the little human chuckles.
As the duo pulled up to a warehouse, a trio came up, a girl, and two men. "Hello, Mrs. Rayne. Mr. Sotch, Mr. Blue." Jarek's sense of tension rose, and he got closer to his little human. If anyone was gonna hurt her, it was gonna be him making her scream in pleasure. "Ms. Kora, come with us. The shipment is in. You did order the blue correct?" the other petite woman asks, her voice being too high-pitched. "Yes, I did. I know you guys don't like me buying from you since I'm just a simple baker, but desperate actions make people do crazy things." Jarek could sense a lot more going down than what was being shown and he hated it. He followed Kora but checked out every surrounding as they went from room to room. The group finally came to a stop and the men stopped while the girls kept walking. "Human, am I supposed to stay?" Jarek reached his hand out for her hand, but she didn't allow him to grab it. "Yes, please. It'll only be a few minutes. Jarek stayed put, not liking that he couldn't go to make sure she was safe.
After about 20 minutes, the girls came back, Jarek couldn't smell any alarm or fear on Kora, so he didn't bother to look relieved. "Thank you for your services Mrs. Rayne, you'll see the money in the next hour. Come, let's go back home Jarek. He happily followed and waited to ask his questions in the car.
Kora's POV
She hated that she had to buy the guns. All in all, it was for a good reason. "So you wanna tell me what the fuck just happened?" Jarek questioned, the poor thing was uneasy.
"Guns. I bought some guns. Look I don't wanna talk about it. No, I don't have them on me. The guns are for them to do with as they please." She stated quickly. Jarek had so many more questions but wasn't gonna keep pressing. They drove back home in silence, there wasn't much else to talk about.
She parked the car and went into the house, leaving Jarek to lock the car. Kora could hear his footsteps stop at her door, but he never opened it. She heard him retreat to his bedroom a few doors down, and she huffed letting herself fall back onto the bed. She would have to back to the store around 6:30 to lock up and register, the clock read 3:15. She wasn't sure what to do with her time now, maybe she should go pour herself a drink. Yeah, a whiskey over ice sounds good.
Kora headed to the kitchen, grabbed her whiskey cup, put ice and whiskey in it, and went to the backyard. She sat on the plush seat of the hanging egg chair and enjoyed the sound of birds and cars.
"Hey, princess. What you doing?" Jarek comes out, he changed into a pair of grey sweatpants and a tight black shirt (Yupp I'm doing this for us) Kora could easily see the outlines of his boxers and oh Jesus, he was definitely a shower and not a grower. She felt her cheeks heat up realizing that he knew she was staring and liking what she saw.
"I see the clothes you bought are comfortable." she looks away, hoping that her pink-dusted cheeks show her buz more than being turned on. "Yeah, I haven't had new clothes that I didn't have to steal in years." Jareks sighs and sits on the patio couch across from her.
"Well I hope you know you're safe here, you don't need to run Jarek."
Jarek's POV
He was shocked at her words, it made him mildly uncomfortable. "Tsk, whatever you say human." he responded hiding the vulnerability. He knew she was telling the truth, but he couldn't, didn't want to depend on anyone again. He wasn't gonna let that happen. He seen her sigh, "I gotta go to the bakery and close up, I should be back by 7:30 at the latest, if I take any longer, come check on me. Also here's my number." Kora showed her phone, and on the screen was her name and number. He typed it in quick and let her get back to work, he'd rather go with her, but he decided looking through the house was better. As soon as her car left the driveway he went straight to her bedroom. As creepy as it was, he wanted something of hers that smelled like she did the night before. Sweet and desperate. What the fuck is he doing, he dropped her old underwear. Why can't he just simply say he needed her. He enjoyed the scent while it lasted.

"Star Wars Resistance": Diversity Shines Through in a Galaxy Far, Far Away
Tumblr media
What if a spy became a mechanic as "cover" for his espionage, but he was terrible at both jobs? Star Wars Resistance answers that question. This series follows the adventures of Kaz, the friends he meets along the way, and the challenges he and his friends face. Whether people are out to get them or they're facing rough and tumble situations, it's an animated series like no other- not even other Star Wars series.
Reprinted from The Geekiary, my History Hermann WordPress blog, and Wayback Machine. This was the nineteenth article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on December 12, 2021. I wasn't sure the opening image was going to fly since The Geekiary, in terms of images that can be added to articles, is a bit prudish. But, it was accepted!
Star Wars Resistance is the creation of Dave Filoni, a director, screenwriter, actor, producer, and animator, best known for his work on animated series in the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars Resistance is a 3D animated action and sci-fi comedy that pulls you in from the first episode. It lasted for two seasons, with relatable characters and exciting adventures.
As a warning, this recommendation discusses some spoilers for Star Wars Resistance.
Tumblr media
Yeager, Kaz, and Neeku on the Colossus
Star Wars Resistance centers around a pilot named Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono (voiced by Christopher Sean), who is recruited by Resistance commander Poe Dameron (voiced by Oscar Issac) to spy on the villainous First Order. He is taken in by Jarek Yaeger (voiced by Scott Lawrence), the owner of Yeager's Repairs, a mechanics shop on the refueling station Colossus. While there, he meets a talented technician named Neeku Vozo (voiced by Josh Brener) and an aspiring pilot Tamara 'Tam' Ryvora (voiced by Suzie McGrath), who are part of the same shop.
While staying on the Colossus, Kaz meets a variety of interesting characters. One is Hype Fazon (voiced by Donald Faison). Hype is the leader of Ace Squadron, the fighter unit protecting the station. There's also a pilot named Torra Doza (voiced by Myrna Velasco), Station Captain Imanuel Doza (voiced by Jason Hightower), and a space pirate spy named Synara San (voiced by Nazneen Contractor).
With the help of these new friends, he faces a high-ranking First Order officer, Commander Pyre (voiced by Liam McIntyre), and the First Order Security Bureau agent Tierny (voiced by Sumalee Montano). Over the course of the series, Kaz changes from an awkward kid to someone more confident in himself- and a somewhat more skilled mechanic.
Other recurring characters include Orka (voiced by Bobby Moynihan) and Flix (voiced by Jim Rash) who run the Office of Acquisitions aboard the station, tavern keeper Aunt Z (voiced by Tovah Feldshuh), pilot Freya Fenris (voiced by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn), space pirate captain Kragan Gorr (voiced by Gary Anthony Williams), space pirate Drell (voiced by David Shaughnessy), and pilot Jace Rucklin (voiced by Elijah Wood). Astromech droids like R1-J5 and BB-8 help characters when needed, whether fighting enemies, receiving messages, unlocking doors, assisting in piloting ships, or gathering information. Others such as 4D-M1N help in a command capacity.
Star Wars Resistance stands out due to its diverse cast in contrast to the overwhelming Whiteness of Star Wars films, apart from well-known characters like Lando Calrissian, who was first voiced by Billy Dee Williams and later by Donald Glover, Samuel J. Jackson's Mace Windu, and John Boyega's Finn. McGrath is a British actress with Jamaican and British roots, with her British accent strongly shining through in her voice acting as Tam. Faison and Lawrence are Black men. Montano has Filipino, Thai, Chinese, and German ancestry. Velasco comes from a big Mexican family and Contractor is of Indian descent. Sean, on the other hand, has Japanese, Irish, Spanish and German roots.
In an April 2019 interview, Velasco described herself as a "Mexican girl from L.A." She was amazed by the fandom's reaction to Torra, noting that unlike other series, Star Wars Resistance shows what characters do in day-to-day life. The series itself is set before the newest trilogy of Star Wars films. Torra could be argued to be Mexican-inspired or Mexican-code as Velasco voiced a Latine character named Carla Delgado in Elena of Avalor and Jessica Cruz in DC Super Hero Girls, who is of Mexican and Honduran descent.
Many of the voice actors have experience in the field, especially in all-ages animated series, but Star Wars Resistance is the first animated role for McGrath. She has said that in voicing Tam, she felt like she was in London's East End, due to the melting pot on the Colossus. She also described Tam as fun to play and said there is an "element of a young urban, Londoner" in the character.
In this anime-inspired animated series, Tam is more than a "feisty mechanic". She's a hard worker who wants to become a racer, a rule-follower who has a strong moral compass. This is challenged in the second season of Star Wars Resistance when the Colossus is revealed to be a space ship and Tam, feeling betrayed by Yeager and Kaz for not disclosing their ties to the Resistance, decides to join the First Order.
McGrath described Tam's decision as giving her the ability to be a pilot. There are challenges as she goes from being a mechanic to a soldier. Even so, she keeps her morality and her heart. Tierney, another brown-skinned character, is able to manipulate Tam to stay in the First Order by playing to her insecurities, using her as an asset to try and take down the Colossus.
Slowly over the second season Tam begins to change her mind about the First Order, even helping out Kaz and Neeku when they didn't realize it, even as both still have hope in her. Rucklin, who is still angry at Kaz for destroying his star fighter, tries to tell Tam to stay the course. Related to this is Griff Halloran explaining why he left the Empire, under which Doza was his commanding officer, in the episode "The New World". To him, fighting for the Empire wasn't worth it in the end.
As for Kaz and Neeku, they generally believe in Tam, while Yeager sees her as turning her back on them and joining the other side. Kaz even agrees with Yeager that they would have to take her out. In the first part of the Season 2 finale, she is horrified to see the destroyers firing on the people of Aeos while Rucklin remains loyal. In the second part, she tells Tierney that Yeager gave her a family, unlike the First Order,  and she wants to be with her chosen family instead of space Nazis.
While the first season of Star Wars Resistance takes place on Colossus where the characters have to face off the Warbirds, a gang of space pirates, the First Order and its military occupation of the platform, the second season raises the stakes. The Colossus is on the run from the First Order, barely escaping space battles before jumping to hyperspace. The platform remains a home for a gaggle of people and a found family for others, like the stowaways Kel (voiced by Antony Del Rio) and Eila (voiced by Nikki Soohoo) and Torra, the daughter of Captain Doza. In the process, they right off mutinous space pirates, save Resistance recruits, and Tam continues to have doubts about her role in the First Order, even after moving up the ranks.
The villains of Star Wars Resistance are starkly painted as evil without reproach. Stormtroopers are shown saluting the destruction of Kaz's homeworld and nearby planets, killing "countless innocents who called the system home." The First Order itself is clearly depicted as a fascist military junta. They were based on the idea of Nazis who fled to Argentina after World War II reforming into a group, admiring the work of the Galactic Empire. The First Order have been described as fascist but smarter than one would expect, ruling through fear rather than love. They're the equivalent of neo-Nazis or what some have called "space Nazis." General Hux, leader of the First Order, is modeled after Hitler.
There is an interesting contrast between the individuality emphasized on the Colossus and in the Resistance, and the First Order's mentality that the individual does not matter. Tam herself tries to mix those ideologies together, although it makes her superiors angry. While Pyre isn't happy when Tam literally saves those on the bridge of the Star Destroyer from being hit by a bomb fired by Kaz, she is promoted to second squadron commander by Tierny, to which she smiles and salutes. However, she shows doubts in firing on unarmed transport shuttles, while Tierny continues to have faith in Tam.
This makes it no surprise that Tam disagrees with Rucklin, a clear toady of the First Order, who shoots down a shuttle full of Resistance recruits. We even see Kylo Ren demanding that all Resistance cells be crushed, getting annoyed at Tierny for her "failures" and saying they don't "tolerate the weak." He is the only character to be shown using the Force in the whole series, in contrast to other Filoni productions which feature Jedi or Sith. There is no sympathy for these characters. After a Star Destroyer explodes in the final episode, with countless First Order troops aboard, including Rucklin, not one person bats an eye about the deaths of these soldiers.
The music of Star Wars Resistance is composed by Michael Tavera, a Latine composer who did music for Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters, The Awesomes, and many other shows. The series music is based on themes by John Williams. Every episode begins with an uplifting instrumental opening track. The series features other music set to the mood of the animation. However, the show's comedy is more prevalent than the music at times. It is mostly manifested by Kaz, often a goofball, and Neeku, who is very nerdy and has good chemistry with Kaz.
Unlike other Star Wars series such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, romance is not a big part of the series apart from Captain Doza trying to protect his daughter, and his attempts to meet his wife, Venisa (voiced by Tasia Velenza). Kaz seems to have a crush on two women, Torra and Synara, and they may have crushes on him, especially in the case of Torra. However, they never kiss and their relationships never move beyond them being friends. In some ways, this allows the series to avoid falling into predictable romantic themes and plotlines that too many animations embody, often in a heterosexual manner rather than a queer one.
There are even recurring LGBTQ characters: Orka and Flix. Both are gay and are in a romantic relationship. This is only hinted throughout the series, but was confirmed by Justin Ridge, an executive producer of Star Wars Resistance who said they are "absolutely a gay couple and we're proud of that." Moynihan, who voices Orka, also said that Orka and Flix "love each other" and are his "favorite little couple" and hoped the characters return in the future. However, some criticize this portrayal as being too subtle and say it should be more overt.
Flix and Orka are among the small number of LGBTQ characters in Star Wars animated series. Cassie Cryar and Ione Marcy, who appeared in one episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, were revealed by Lucasfilm creative executive Pablo Hidalgo as "written as a couple in a relationship." Some accounts like Star Wars Queer Watch on Twitter track LGBTQ content in Star Wars. The latter noted the lack of LGBTQ characters in animated series, like Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which Filoni is also creator of, although they have a headcanon that Omega is trans or intersex.

Filoni has been involved with many other series besides Star Wars Resistance. He co-created Star Wars Rebels, storyboarded Star Wars Forces of Destiny, was a development artist, supervising director, writer, and producer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and is an executive producer, director and writer of The Mandalorian. He was also a storyboarder on countless series and voiced various Star Wars characters in the aforementioned series, like Bo Keevil in Star Wars Resistance.
Star Wars Resistance was well received by critics, some calling it "primed with potential," having a "brighter, more colorful palette" than other series, and an animation style which stands out among the traditionally computer generated animations for other Star Wars series. As a result, the series was nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards in 2019 and 2020 in the Outstanding Children's Program category, and won the Saturn Awards prize for the Best Animated Series category in 2019.
The second season plotline of Star Wars Resistance which has Tam joining the First Order reminded me, in some ways, of Cassandra being manipulated by the Enchanted Blue Fairy in the third season of Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, also known as Tangled: The Series. I wish that Star Wars Resistance had been extended into another season and had an order of 60 episodes like Tangled, instead of 40 episodes spread across two seasons (21 episodes in the first season and 19 episodes in the second).
Specifically, I would have liked to see Tam's struggle to find a place in the First Order expanded. Maybe she could have become totally be immersed in the ideology to the shock of the protagonists, like having her oversee the destruction of a system of planets by the Starkiller Base, a la Ash turning evil in Final Space. Maybe Tam wouldn't be redeemed in the end, as this series did or as Tangled did with Cassandra. Or perhaps they could have stuck with the existing storyline and had another season about Tam readjusting to the Colossus and having to face the First Order.
Even though it would have required some reworking, it could have been interesting to have Kaz as a female character instead a male character, as many of the Star Wars series have male leads while female characters are relegated to supporting or secondary roles, and at certain points, this series played into that, unfortunately.
Although we do not know all the behind the scenes of Star Wars Resistance, Filoni and other executive producers, Athena Portillo, Justin Ridge, and Brandon Auman, told CBR that they had always planned to tell a story that was was two seasons long, developing a roadmap from the beginning for the series. Even so, Portillo and Ridge confirmed that they are willing to revisit the series in the future. This means that Star Wars Resistance is not like Final Space which was unceremoniously cancelled by Warner executives. It also means that anger from some fans and split opinions on the show had nothing to do with the show's length, which is a positive. In the end, the series aired from October 7, 2018 to January 26, 2020, with both seasons available on Disney+ after February 2020.
Personally, I enjoyed Star Wars Resistance more than Filoni's other productions like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which often seems like it comes out of the pages of a military history book or the war stories of soldiers in a battlefield, apart from the final episodes of the series, or even Star Wars Bad Batch. It was much more enjoyable than The Mandalorian, a series for which I sat through the first episode and was thoroughly unsatisfied with what I saw. It seemed like a shoot-em-up western that resembled a tired, boring Clint Eastwood film at times.
Star Wars Resistance also has more diversity in its cast than recent shows like Masters of the Universe: Revelation or Tangled. The latter series has a brown-skinned characters like Andra, voiced by Tiffany Smith, a multiracial actress, and features Black actors like Kevin Michael Richardson, Tony Todd, Phil LaMarr, Cree Summer, Dennis Haysbert, and Method Man, and a Latine man of Mexican descent, Danny Trejo. The former series has dark-skinned characters like Lance Strongbow (voiced by James Monroe Iglehart) and Adira (voiced by Kelly Hu). However, both of those series have White-majority casts.
With Star Wars Resistance currently at the end of its series order, now is the time to watch it on Disney+, Disney Now, or elsewhere. It's a great choice for a weekend binge session.

Fic authors self-rec! ✨ When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you’ve written, then pass on to at least five other writers
1. Aki x Reader | Instead of 6,000 years ago where the books take place. It takes place in the present day with Aki comforting the reader who just experienced a loss. 🥺❤️
2. From my Valentine's event, Surprises with Vincent Sinclair. The longest fic I have ever written, also there's smut! Sadly, Bo has more interactions than Vincent and Lester has even fewer. 😭
3. From my event, Kano smut! I feel bad for Jarek and Kobra who both got to see naked Kano, but at the same time, Jarek buddy, you should've followed Kobra. 😭🤣
4. Bale x Reader | You, his friend, decide to leave the island for the forest. Chronicles of Ancient Darkness is my favorite book series, this work was my first ever COAD request years ago. The og work did contain an oc of sorts but has been changed to the perspective of you as his friend.
I had been told many times that my writing was small, and I had been asked at one point by a requester to write bigger. Their words hurt, they've never left me, I refuse to be known as a small writer again. I try my damn best to write a minimum of 500 words. ._. So, to be able to go back to my work years ago, rewrite it, make it better and bigger and more detailed and it also is one of my favorite series, really means a lot.
5. Arima Saves Reader | As the title says, but he uses a frying pan to save them. Yeah, a frying pan amid a street fight, just randomly pulls it out to save you.
I know it says five but I must include this, I just love the lesser-known characters and fandoms ❤️
6. Kuai Liang, Fujin, and Reiko comforting a friend during their break up ❤️
