Sleek dark autumnal hues for this outfit, pairing a bold asanoha (stylized hemp leaves) kimono, and a striking golden zakuro (pomegranate) obi.
The star is the black haori, showing crawling karasuuri (Japanese snake gourd), its leaves and fruits with inner patterns. I like how the hyotan (bottle gourd) obidome compliments the haori pattern!

Gintama Flower Suite, Part 23: Japanese Snake Gourd for Nobume
The Japanese Snake Gourd is a fascinating plant with tall thin fruits. Its white flowers look very unique and bloom only at night. Very beautiful, very unusual and strange. I think this flower fits Nobume well.
(The scientific name is either Trichosanthes cucumerina or Trichosanthes pilosa - there seems to be disagreement between Wikipedia and other websites on this point.)

冬瓜[Tōgan] Benincasa pruriens f. hispida
It is native to India and is said to have been introduced via China around the Asuka period(593-710). The flower is large, more than ten centimeters in diameter, and the long, spherical fruit is also large, some of the larger ones are eighty centimeters long and weigh more than ten kilograms.
冬[Fuyu|Tō] means winter, 瓜[Uri|Ka] means melon or gourd. 瓜 is not read as gan when it is written in a single kanji. Such a reading is a corrupution or a kind of 当て字[Ateji], called 熟字訓[Jukuji-kun]. The same goes for 昨日[Kinō](Yesterday), 今日[Kyō](Today), 明日(Asu or ashita), etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanji#Special_readings
瓜 is mostly read in the normal way, such as 苦瓜[Nigauri](Bitter melon), 烏瓜[Karasuuri](Japanese snake gourd; lit. Crow melon), etc., but some have special readings, 南瓜[Kabocha](Pumpkin; lit. melon of the south), 木瓜[Boke](Japanese quince; lit. melon that grows on a tree), etc.
瓢[Hisago](Gourd or calabash) is also in the gourd family, Cucurbitaceae, and the kanji has 瓜 inside. The origin of the kanji 狐[Kitsune](Fox) is the image of an animal shaped like a gourd(瓜). 犭(獣偏)[Kemono-hen] means the animal radical at left. Incidentally, 爪[Tsume](nail or claw) is not 瓜.

The last pics i reblogged turned out to be カラスウリの花 - Karasūri no Hana, strongly-scented flowers of the snake gourd. It grows all over Asia, including where i live, but it seems that only the Japanese coined a term for the flowers. Another breathtaking discovery that makes me feel like a fraud... all this time i could be observing eerie lace-like petal growth.......

teniwoha - Trendkiller (translated lyrics)
youtube
My translation for teniwoha's latest song, Trendkiller. (I also posted it on the comments of the song's video).
My japanese is self-taught, and I haven't been studying it for a long time, so there might be some mistakes. Any notes or corrections are welcome!
teniwoha - Trendkiller
Along the line drawn to gouge out An islander tumbles back into the next page A certain someone who's shy, and on top of that hates the mundane.
A bouncy romantic comedy x adventure and heart-pumping violence I'm already curious about what happens next, so I guess I'll try to live. Let's dance rowdily in a strange and eccentric style. I have to shatter this careless world to pieces.
Trendkiller
Show me what I've never seen before Eradicate my tedium, do away with all of it. It's the best, sparking mixed opinions. Sending out a shock that will make your eyeballs pop out of their sockets.*
It's new radical graffitii Have a signature monster? It's new radical graffitii Everybody eats Like a honey pie
Like the flowers of a snake gourd, blooming in the evening** Drunkenly bewildered, your heart rumbles again If you chatter with the devil, the latest trends will chase after you Scary, huh?
This week's horror comedy, classic action and fantasy connecting to everyday life Looks like it's gonna get exciting, so I guess I'll live to see it. Hey, hey, there's still so much I want to say So I prepare speech bubbles of all shapes and sizes.
Trendkiller Staying untainted Trendkiller Hating being loved Trendkiller
Show me what I've never seen before Eradicate my tedium, do away with all of it. It's the best, sparking mixed opinions. Picaresque laughing at emptiness, lighting up the blood of the weak.
Rattaratta, painting and singing Because even in a monochrome world I'm seeing "color" Even we who have nowhere to go Were able to dance on the verge of despair
Sending out a shock Curves like I've never seen before
* "デフォルメ" (deformation) is a word I often see referring to cartoony drawings. I thought about translating this to "cartoony eyes" or something like that, but I wasn't sure if that was the intention in this case, so instead I tried to go with a sentence that reflected a cartoony image ** Japanese snake gourd flowers do, indeed, bloom at night. Not that it's relevant to the translation, since it's basically what the song says, but I looked it up so I thought it'd be fun to say it
Since this is teniwoha there might be some puns or references I missed, but I hope this at least helps english speakers understand the meaning of the song!

Allow me to offer an alternative, because the narcissues flowers (daffodils) among other things have six petals, and these are drawn with five.
I think they intended this flower to be the Japanese Snake Gourd.
Tumblr media
(note the way they're drawn as if in a little cloud of wisps).
They're described like this: Like a spirit that shies from the daylight, this flower only blooms at night and spreads its wispy tendrils over other plants. You’ll see it most often from April to June, clinging to its surrounding flora, covering them in its veil-like petals.
The hanakotoba of the snake gourd flowers was harder to track down; I could find only one page, and it was in Japanese. (Good fortune, Japanese readers.)
Running that page through Google Translate, the meanings I got were "honesty", "good news", and "hatred of men". (The flower, it seems, only blooms at night and will wither by sunrise.)
Tumblr media
If the flowers are daffodils, they might foreshadow that Fyodor will survive prison arc as the plant symbolizes rebirth. It also could be connected to his past, an event that changed his life forever.
In some countries daffodils are used to describe narcissistic people. Maybe thus the producers tried to implement that Fyodor is overly confident in his beliefs and is not willing to give them up.
