the forest/lake/meadows where I go on runs have lots of brooms (shrub brooms) and for the past few weeks they've been blooming and it smells SO good and bluebells are starting to come out everywhere and they are so pretty and soon it will be the heather's turn & then the meadows will be so pretty too

just started a new job that seems pretty cool & chill with a very nice & chill lovely boss

going to Ireland with people I love in a couple of days! to spend a week walking and eating english breakfasts and reading by the fireplace

finding new music/books/films/tv shows that feel just right. Got my brain reconfigured by one of them lately and now everything is better

January 31st

During my time as a student at Swiss German University, I began to recognize January 31st as a special date. While, our university was located neither in Germany nor in Switzerland, most of the students did choose to spend their sixth semester in Germany. The 31st of January was special because it was the departure day for the majority of us student interns. Every single year that I spent at SGU, there was always a countdown as the day approached.

If you happened to be at the international terminal of Soekarno-Hatta Airport on said date, went and asked a person in their twenties with the largest suitcase, a carry-on, and another backpack, chances were, s/he was an SGU student. They were usually surrounded by families, friends, or their significant others, waiting nervously as departure time became closer and closer. They were the ones that hugged a little too tightly, a little too long. You couldn’t blame them, though. Some would not see each other in months (the semester lasted at least six to seven months) or even years (I blame early scholarship acceptance). Once it was time to check in, the tears would have dried and the students walked into the open door of possibilities, probably leaving the country for the first time in their lives.

This post marks the beginning of a series of posts that I should have written two years ago. Now, although I can still recall some of my favorite memories from that semester, they are mostly fragments. I rely on photos, videos, bits and pieces of maps and travel tickets to recount the stories as accurately as possible. However, memories are shaped by how we choose to remember them.

So, these writings may not be that accurate after all… Mainly nostalgia… 

(I choose not to backdate the posts to two years ago for that very reason; it would seem unfair to give an impression that I actually wrote the posts during my time in Germany instead of procrastinating on them for freaking two years… *pats self on the back*)
