Pavitr Prabhakar Headcanons Part 2 (Festival Special)
I'm back with headcanons, this time focusing on our precious boy during our festivals!
He's heart broken when girls start avoiding him during Rakshabandhan (the Indian festival where girls tie Rakhi on their brother's wrist. Usually this happens in family but a lot of boys-girls who consider each other brother-sister do this as well) because he's always wanted a sister. (Well sorry Pavitr but I won't want you as a brother).
Has played Hanuman in Ram-Leela (the stage play of Ramayan, a major Hindu Epic) in Dusshehra (we celebrate the victory of Good over Evil). Wanted to be Shri Ram but was told that he's more of a Krishna than Ram.
BECOMES GOVINDA DURING KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI (the birth of Shri Krishna)!!! Ofc he does, he loves breaking the pot of maakhan (butter).
Ganesh Chaturthi (the birth of Lord Ganesh) is his favourite festival, dresses up the best during this, silk blue kurta with sleeves rolled up and plain white pajamas complete with mojri (a type of shoes).
Has cried once during Visarjan (immersion of idols of Bhagwan Ganesh after the end of festival) while screaming "agle baras tu jaldi aa!!" ("next year, come soon, God!")
Goes to his Muslim friends' house during Eid because sevai is delicious.
LOVES DIWALI. Would never forget to bring lotuses for Maa Lakshmi during the Puja. (and then jokingly say "Ma I brought you your favourite thing now you give me mine" and avsolutely refuses to say what he wants because "Ma already knows")
Lights up the entire house with Diyas only during Diwali and makes it look more serene than lights.
Cannot talk properly during Holi (festival of colors) because his mouth is always stuffed with gujia, malpua or Dahi Bara. Also his clothes in Holi are as colorful as his face.
Visits Gurudwara (the Sikh place of Worship) on the birth date of the Gurus because again the lungar is soo good.
Lol I typed this so fast and as soon as ideas came into my mind. More will come.

Mayavan and Mayamohini
Nappinnai in Ponniyin Selvan. Read here.
When Vanthiyathevan reaches Kadambur on the 18th day of Adi, people are celebrating the monsoon festival of Adi Perukku. But that year, there is something more special about Aadi Perukku.
Yes, today is the birth star of Andal. And it coincides with the eighteenth day of Adi, which is why there is such jubilation.
He starts dreaming about Krishnan, Andal pasurams and a death in the royal family even before he knows about the conspiracy, Nandini or her history.
A priest armed with a scimitar emerged from behind the statue of Kali, whose mouth was a gaping gash . . . “That means you’re unfit to be sacrificed. Go on, run,” said the priest. Kannan suddenly took Kali’s place. Two girls holding garlands danced in his shrine, singing Andal’s pasurams.
After this, Alwarkadiyan tells him about his sister Nandini and her extreme devotion. When Vanthiyathevan exhorts her to return to Krishna bhakti, she replies that she doesn't deserve it.
Then he goes to Pazhayarai to give Karikalan's message to Kundavai and people are celebrating another event there.
Aha! That’s what it is! It is Sri Krishna Jayanthi, Krishna’s birthday, that they are celebrating with such joy.
He sees and hears various songs, plays and even plays Kamsa in a street performance. Funnily, none of these are about the birth of baby Krishnan. Rather, all are about Mayavan (the Tamil equivalent of Mohana), the Great Enchanter.
Vanthiyathevan as Kamsa: Adel Krishna. Your magic won’t work with me. I am going to kill you right now. I am going to kill your brother Balarama. And your father Vasudeva too.
(Foreshadowing about Uncle Maduranthakan's Conspiracy and Pandya Murder conspiracy, together)
Kundavai's companions dancing to Aachiyar Kuravai (Nappinnai dancing with Krishna):
If that Mayavan [enchanter], Kannan, who once Used a calf sent to kill him :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: If that Mayavan who once Broke the tree which was but a demon
Another one:
The great Lord, Mayavan, who appeared as a god and clasped the entire world in his navel with its flowering lotus . . .
When Vanathi is lost in a song about a girl waiting for Kannan, Kundavai scolds her. We will revisit this later.
Initially one would think that this is about Vanthiyathevan's adventures but after Vanthiyathevan goes to Lanka with Arulmozhi's scroll, there are no notable mentions of the Great Enchanter until Karikalan makes an appearance again.
Nandini starts talking about Mayakkanan who enchants and disappears (see the post about Nappinnai for details). When Karikalan asks Manimegalai to sing non-religious love songs, she sings about another (secular) enchanter, moving Nandini to inconsolable tears.
Is that all a dream, my friend The time we spent together On the slopes of the mountain Besides the waterfalls Beneath the shadow of fruit-laden trees When he held my hand And we were both lost in happiness Is that all a dream, my friend Or just a thought in my mind?
In the grove of punnai trees Under the golden rays of the evening sun He called me near And whispered words of love In my ears Is that all a dream my friend Is that miracle nothing but a lie?
Defying all security Like a thief he walked in stealth And with boundless love Held me in embrace And smothered me with kisses Did it happen? Weren’t we happy? Is that all a dream, my friend Or just a thought in my mind?
If this one isn't enough, Kalki says that she sang multiple songs like this. Seriously, Manimegalai? 😤 And why is Nandini crying when she heard about some lovers making out in secret? Very fishy.
Rational Kundavai absolutely hates this enchanter aspect of Krishnan. When Vanathi is listening to such a song on Janmashtami, she scolds Vanathi and disses Mayavan.
Good Lord! And he came to Tamilnadu as our God! If he has been stealing butter, playing the flute and spending time with the women, where will he have time for other things in life? . . . Why are you so silent? Have you too become enchanted with Kannan’s flute?
She has the same opinion about her brother.
But now I have lost hope. Adithan is a great warrior. One of the most valiant men of our times. But he can’t keep his mind under his control.
This Greater Enchanter disappears from the novel after Karikalan's death. Nandini is frequently labelled as the enchantess, the Mohini. If Nandini is Mayamohini, then Karikalan is Mayavan. Though both accuse each other of enchanting them and disappearing, the irony is that Mayavan and Mayamohini aren't different - they are just two aspects of the same God.
N. B. Another person Aditha Karikalan is constantly compared to is Aravan, Mohini's husband. In Tamil versions of the Mahabharatam, by Peruntevanar and later by Villiputtur and Nallappillai, Arjunan's son Aravan offers himself as a sacrifice to Kali to ensure victory for the Pandavas. He asks for three boons before he dies, of which one is that he should be married before his death. Since no parent would give a daughter to one who is about to be killed, Krishna appears as Mohini and marries Aravan for a night.

What Are the Sawan 2024 Rituals and Significance?
Hindu mythology is full of interesting Vedic tales. One such legend we narrated at Vedic Story about the Sawan Shivratri in Hinduism. However, today we are discussing why Sawan Month is important in Hinduism. What is the significance, and should devotees observe the religion fasting or vrat?
Before we start narrating the significance of Sawan Shivratri month, let’s inform you that the Sawan began on July 22 and it will end on August 19.
What Are the Important Timings of Sawan 2024?
Sawan is the most important month in Hinduism and the Panchang Calendar.
It is the sacred month of Sawan, the month of rain, religious fasting, fertility, and soul purification.
Sawan month is a month of Lord Shiva that lasts for a full lunar cycle and starts Ashadha Purnima. However, the month is also known as the Shravan and Kawar Shivratri or Kawar Yatra. It began on 22nd July, Monday, and will end on 19th August, Monday. It lasts for 1 month, and this year the festival is going to last for 29 days.
What is the significance of the Sawan Shivratri Vrat or festival?
Sawan 2024 fast has special meaning and space in Hinduism. Sawan Sonwar Vrat is a rite that unmarried girls perform for getting grooms with qualities of Lord Shiva.
Goddess Parvati also performed Sawan Shivratri to get married with Lord Shiva in the month of Sawan. Thereafter, it became a ritual for Indian women to fast in Sawan month.
Indian mythology and sacred texts of Shiva Purana narrates that whoever keeps the fast in Sawan month on Mondays, Lord Shiva will bless them and fulfill the wishes.
Every Monday, devotees observe the fast throughout the day without eating food or water and pray to Lord Mahadev.
What Are the Rituals Devotees Can Perform During Sawan 2024 Month?
Throughout the sacred Sawan month 2024, devotees of Lord Shiva can pray by performing some rituals that not only clean the devotees internally but also bring happiness into their lives.
Kanwar Yatra
Kanwar Yatra is a festival that devotees perform by going to Haridwar and bringing holy Ganga water barefoot. This pilgrimage yatra signifies the cascading of Goddess Ganga from heaven into the life of Lord Shiva to cool down his poison.
Fasting
Many people in Hinduism perform fasts, the Sawan Somwar Vrat, throughout the month. They don’t consume food and water until the evening and after the prayer of Lord Shiva.
Shiva Lingam Abhishek
Devotees in Sawan month perform rituals and rites that cool down Lord Shiva and bless them with prosperity and happiness. They bathe Shiva Linga with water, milk, honey, datura, vel patra, and flowers. This ritual signifies the purification of devotees.
Chanting Mantras
Devotees chant the Shiva mantras, especially the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra in Sawan. It is believed that whoever chants the mantra gets protection from Lord Shiva himself and is blessed with long life.
What Are the Other Festivals Falling in the Month of Sawan?
Sawan month is sacred and has many ancient legends to this month.
Let’s find out some of the most auspicious festivals and Vrat fall in this month.
Shravan Shivratri: This festival falls in the Krishna Paksha of Sawan month. Devotees of Lord Shiva perform fasts and perform puja to the blessings of Mahadev.
Nag Panchami: It falls on the fifth day, Panchami of the Shukla Paksha. People worship snakes in this festival to get protection from snake bites.
Hariyali Teej: This festival also falls in the Sawan month. People worship Goddess Parvati and seek her blessings.
Raksha Bandhan: Sawan month also brings the most auspicious festival of Rakhi, the festivals of brother and sister. It is believed the Goddess Parvati tied the Rakhi to Lord Vishnu, and thereafter it signifies the day dedicated to brothers and sisters.
Kajari Teej: This festival falls in the monsoon Sawan month. Married women sing folktales and sing for good harvest.
Janmashtami: Lord Krishna was born on this day, and the entire India and Hindu people celebrate Krishna Janmashtami, the birth of the most beloved deity in Hinduism. Krishna was born on the eighth day of the darkest night in Sawan month.
Therefore, Sawan 2024 is a sacred month in the Hindu calendar.
