“What is… this,” you wave your hand, gesturing towards the client that sat on the stool, being worked on by Eli Jang. You kept your voice low, so that only he could hear, while the customer was busy staring at his face. It wasn't her that you found weird— rather… the hairstyle she was about to get.

You knew she was only getting a haircut so she could spend more time gawking at the pretty boy in the beauty dept. You almost felt bad for her. Sure, she gets to see him up close and have him touch her hair, but is it really worth it? Those microbangs aren't flattering her face shape… What the fuck is Eli thinking?

The snipping of scissors only made things worse, making you grimace a little. Every cut led to her bangs getting unnecessarily shorter, to the point it was beginning to stand in different directions. It hurts to look at. You rip your gaze away from what was happening, not being able to stare at it any longer. As an aspiring hairdresser, this wounds you.

“I'm trying something new,” he plainly states, cutting off another chunk of hair. It took everything within you not to take the scissors away from him. Eli looks so carefree about it— taking snips without a fuck about the world. 

You cringe. “That is not a good idea.”

He smiles, and you mentally strangle yourself for finding him pretty. “Come on, it'll be trendy in a year. Trust me,” you do not trust him. Unfortunately, due to his lethal face card, the client does.

For the sake of your sanity, you turn around. Praying to the salon gods that Eli won't take hairdressing professionally.

I'm inactive here, but let me tell you something, a lot of people in the fandom are downplaying Jang Hyun's whole story, all of his trauma just to find a good side and a bad side, and that's dumb and hypocritical, Jang Hyun is one of the characters with the saddest story in Lookism, and from the beginning of his life until now he hasn't had a break to be happy and light-minded, everything for him is extremely fucked up, and now his family has been threatened, imagine that? I will never judge or condemn him for his actions. He had no real power to choose between yes or no to join the Workers, he was cornered and threatened, he didn't ally himself, stupid.

my observation of janghyun's and gilchae's relationship after finishing ep 8 is that it is very much a push and pull. or more so an ebbing and a flowing. they're stuck in each other's orbits, but always pulling forward and back at the wrong times; they're not entirely in sync yet. and it hurts! it hurts to see gilchae trying to be vulnerable only for janghyun to jump to his own conclusions, or shut her down before she can fully get the words she wants out. it hurts to see janghyun speaking from his heart, but saying what gilchae doesn't understand/doesn't want to hear. and he's not wrong, for not wanting to have to navigate her feelings for yeonjun, for not wanting to wait and watch her love someone else, but gilchae's asking for that time. they are trying to communicate with one another, but it is all wrong words right time, right words wrong time.

We love a consistent man in this household

I usually hate it when characters only change their perspective when it directly concerns them or someone they love. It's realistic but so heartbreaking.

But Janghyun has been consistent in one thing: rape doesn't ruin a woman.

He's said this about strangers. He's said this to the little gisaeng that grew up. Which was why his reaction to Gilchae was magical.

He wasn't just suddenly realizing it. He wasn't just changing his mind because the woman he loved had been violated. He wasn't making an accommodation just for her.

He was just stating a fact that he believes: she deserves hugs not insults.
