Jane had been bad. She didn't know what she had done wrong, but she didn't need to. All she had to know was that she was being punished for it. Chris, one of the members of the den who she had difficulty pleasing, had told her to follow him. She did so without question.

He led her over to the kitchen sink and ordered her to fill it with water. She obeyed, but grew nervous as to the reason. There was tension as she silently waited for it to fill, watching him with fearful eyes.

Then, without warning he grabbed her by the back of her head and shoved her face underwater. She choked out a cry of surprise, taking in water and immediately trying to hold her breath. Then she was brought back up. She sputtered and gasped for breath before being shoved under again. She resisted the urge to fight. She deserved it after all. And she was pretty sure he wouldn't let her die without permission from Star. So she let him continue. Up and under, up and under, over and over again. It went on for what felt like hours. At some point she noticed a few other denmates had stopped to watch with glee.

Finally, when it was over, she collapsed to the floor in a heap, trying desperately to look at the floor and not up at the others staring at her.

The floor was covered in water and she was soaked, dripping even more.

“Clean this up then get changed. When you're done, come to my room. I'm hungry.” was all Chris said before storming off again, along with the rest.

The first time I made this piece was the first time I truly felt proud of my work as an artist. So, for the past three years, I've redrawn the piece! (I redrew it twice in one year due to a major style change, and wanted to see how much would change)

Question for Jane and Phoenix. How did you two meet and come to fall for each other?

Jane hesitates. "That's quite a long story but... I'll try my best to relay it."

Jane goes with you to the kitchen and offers to make you some hot cocoa. Whether you accept or not she begins making some for herself as well. Phoenix is sitting at the kitchen counter and pulls you up a seat.

"Well we met when I was sold into Phoenix's den, the bleeding hearts, a very rare mixed gender den. It was a small group of around 8." Jane started.

"I had grown up it the den and was thrilled when Star told up we were getting a pet." Phoenix added, though she grimaced at the last sentiment as though it left a bad taste in her mouth.

"From the moment I arrived I didn't know what to expect. But from the moment I saw Phoenix I knew I wanted to be her's." Jane sighed wistfully.

"Unfortunately I was merely a shy lesbian that didn't know how to actually talk to pretty girls my age." Phoenix laughed.

"So for a good bit we kinda were awkward around each other. And she never fed off me. Which I took as quite the ego blow at the time." Jane finished making her mug and sat down with you and her wife. "Though she was nothing but kind to me at the time. Which made me want her to want me even more."

"Then my family got involved. They could see how hard I was crushing on Jane so they teased me relentlessly and tried to force me into positions to feed off her. But I refused every time. I wanted it to be right. And with Jane's... Training, it never felt right. Until-" Phoenix rambled.

"Until things got so bad at home that she took me and we ran away." Jane finished. "And the rest is history."

This has been quite a long time coming, but I was finally able to get down the first page. This is going to be the first comic series- The Heart- In the Half Lies and Hidden Truths series. Which will all be in comic format. The Heart being the first Arc, and Jane's story.

Please keep in mind this comic is going to be whump. So this first arc in particular will be lady whump.

(this is actually one of two of these asks so I'll answer both separately with different WIPs)

Answering the questions for Half Lies and Hidden Truths!

Honestly? Scene wise, it's almost definitely the scene where Dare finally snaps and tries to murder Richard. It's gonna take me a loooooooooooooong time to get there. But I just have such a vivid image in my head. In general? I'm just really excited to write the characters. These ocs in particular hold an incredibly special place in my heart, so writing them always feels like re-visiting an old friend you fell out of touch with.

Where to start? This story has changed a looot of the years, but managed to keep it's core. Originally It was going to be "Shadowed Hearts" and all be one book. However as my ideas got more elaborate, I changed plans. Now the plan is three novels focused on the three major story-lines. The Heart focused on Jane, The Mind focused on Ian, and The Soul focused on Dare.

This is a really tough question, but at the end of the day I would have to say Jane. Jane has been my second longest standing oc across almost a decade and so, so many re-writes. The longest being Dare, but they have changed so much that I don't fully consider them the same. Jane has remained more or less herself. I've watched her grow as I grew and matured. And I adore her. She holds a very special place of honor in my fucked up mind.

Cooking/food headcanon for Bug, Alix and Shaniqua (and the rest of Bug's company if you feel like it) - sara

Hehehe I'm going to answer for everyone! Thank you for giving me the option (that is also why this is so much later than the other replies to this ask game lol, there's so many of them)

Bug

Bug is mostly vegetarian when they're free. It's a choice they make to remember that they're free – they can make their own decisions about their diet, therefore they're free. Kind of similar reason to why they change their hairstyle completely every few months, although that one's partly just for fun.

Alix

She has multiple cupboards of spices and seasonings, as well as dried ingredients (she'll buy fresh when she needs it but otherwise, might as well buy in bulk). She enjoys cooking for everyone. More than that, she loves finding out what someone likes best (through detective work and sleuthery such as asking "what do you like to eat?" and then building on that) and making it for them. She thinks everyone deserves food that makes them feel good. Especially her rescues.

Shaniqua

She enjoys cooking, although she doesn't do it frequently. She tends to cook in bulk when she's off and freezes it all, then her and Bill can just microwave meals for a few weeks. She has a set of crockery and cutlery from her parents when she and Bill bought their house together, which she keeps in good condition and still uses regularly. After years in food service, Shaniqua appreciates waiters enough to tip very well when she eats out.

Bill

He mostly eats fast food if left to his own devices, and doesn't like cooking (he doesn't see the point when he can buy whatever he likes readymade anyway). The exception's a BBQ, which he likes grilling at although often gets distracted easily. Especially if it's a BetterPets BBQ...

O

O loves apples. Absolutely adores them. Its favourites are early discoveries and coxes, but any are nice so long as they're crisp and juicy. It liked apples before the one Bug gave it (the first actual food it had had in a long time), but that certainly helped cement apples as one of its favourites.

It would like to grow an apple tree, but its plot of garden is probably not big enough. Probably.

Max

Soft ice cream is his favourite food. He enjoys trying out all different kinds of food, mostly bc he hasn't had anything decent in a while – his owners replaced his teeth with metal spike implants to make him look more intimidating, and it made it hard for him to eat, especially in the time frame allotted to him. If he got too undernourished he'd be given liquid, which tasted horrible, or tube fed. Basically, what I'm saying is that now he can eat actual food and take as long as he likes to do so, he really enjoys trying out new food!

Maria

Greek food! She's Greek, they worked that out fairly early on, and she's determined to reconnect with her culture. Whenever it's her turn to cook she tries out different Greek and other Mediterranean dishes, with varied success.

He loves a BBQ, specifically the vegetarian food there. Would not like to share one with Bill though.

Mary

Her favourite sweets are Werther's Originals. It's the only thing she put on the customisation form for Bug, bc the care home staff insisted she put something and she didn't want Bug hurt. She likes sharing sweets with Bug and Alix, and really anyone who wants one and is a decent person.

For meals, she likes old British staples like bangers and mash.

Jane

Loves tea and biscuits! Traditional biscuits like digestives especially. Anyone who visits or lives with her will be given tea and biscuits.

Oscar

Oscar likes food best when fae can enjoy it with others. Fae likes good food anyway, but not so much when fae has to eat it alone. Fae likes to share it, so faer favourites are things like sharing platters, meze, stuff like that. Fae's also a big fan of potlucks.

Michaela

She has a sweet tooth, and enjoys all things sugary! She also likes baking, although it's often hard to find the time to make anything complex, like she'd like to.
